I update the site daily so check it out often! You betta leave a comment if you visit it! ;D

→ I'm going on two school trips in the next couple weeks. One to BosMun where I'll be representing the London Telegraph in the Press Corps. After that, I'll be going to a journalism convention--finally! It's at Columbia University this spring. I'm doing the photography workshop along with Leeann [link] and Cristie [link] It was pretty neat; I learned a few new things. Tomorrow, we are meeting up again and going out to the National Mall to shoot a few pictures. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate with us and it won't rain or get freezing cold.

Into the Woods opened this week! It was pretty awesome to see the final product since I first took pictures of the play at their early rehearsals. I saw part of the play at the school assembly today. I think they actors did a fantastic job and the singing was--zomg--marvelous! I want to give a quick shout out to Robin [link] Jacki [link] (Happy birthday as well!), and Alli [link]

I just realized how much I enjoy writing...not research papers per se but definitely blogging, poetry, and free-lance writing.
That's all.

Sichuan Earthquake
I don't want to repeat any statistics from the aftermath. You probably have already heard about them. If you have no clue what earthquake I'm talking about, google it. I don't feel like talking about this too much, but I do want to ask people to pray for the victims and their families.

One of the most tragic event from the earthquake was the death of an entire student body at one middle school. Here's what one father had to say--"I had a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old. I looked everywhere for work so that I could afford their tuition. Now they are both buried under the school--dead. What do I have to live for anymore?"

I'm satisfied by the quick response from the Chinese government, especially from the Primer Wen Jiabao. The fact that President Hu Jintao called for an all-out rescue operation and Wen said, "We must treasure every second and do our utmost to save survivors," show how the Chinese government truly cares for its people. If there is anything China's good at it's the abundance of manpower and the ability to recover from natural disasters. Already, they are doing better than Bush at Katrina. Generosity in China is evident as its own citizens pour in millions of relief money from their own pockets--something that has never been done in China before. The thrift response by the government, the mass media coverage of the disaster on state-owned TV stations, and the agreement to accept foreign aid demonstrate how China is progressing toward a more democratic and modern nation. This is definitely a step up from the way they handled Tangshan Earthquake in 1970s.

My only problem is why many schools and hospital buildings collapsed while federal buildings withstood the earthquake. Clearly, the government put in less effort on making sure the public buildings were well constructed. I hope this will be changed in the future.

....

Why are my journals sooo long?
Why am I writing so much about politics? I don't even like politics! =\

But one of my new year's resolution was go stop blogging, so I thought it'd be alright to write something on here.

PHOTOJOURNALISM NEWS

Hurray for me! I got my first photo published! It's a photo of a Jewish museum I took in NYC. I uploaded onto Flickr along with other photos from that trip. Then this woman from an online traveling guide discovered it and requested for my permission to use it. Of course, I said yes and tada! [link] To be honest, I don't think the photo is exceptional but I suppose it serves the purpose.

SCHOOL BUZZ

AP exam is--zomg--next week! I'm studying as much as I can these days. I was suppose to have my final yesterday but it got CANCELED due to a misunderstanding between the teachers. Instead, we have to complete an individual final project after the AP exams when we should be watching movies and chilling.

Drama-songbird said that the cancellation of the final exam was due to cheating. I would like to clear this up because too many false rumors have been circulating around the school. It wasn't cheating; it was mere luck and a misunderstanding. One AP student's tutor is a teacher at a local high school. As a teacher, he has access to previously released AP exams. He gave them to the student to practice for the real thing. Coincidentally, one of the released exams is the same one our teachers used for the final exam. So that boy, of course, got all the answers right and thus destroyed the curve. This led our teachers to believe that there could be other cheating incidents in the final exam and called the final invalid.

Am I upset about this situation? Yes, I lost so much sleep the past few weeks studying for--nothing. But I don't blame the boy with the tutor. I blame our teachers for using a previously released exam for our final. I also blame the student who told the teachers about the boy with the tutor. If no one know about the boy and his tutor, then all this wouldn't have been such a big deal. Besides, I personally didn't think he did anything wrong. He was merely practicing for the real thing using old exams and it just turned out that one of them is our final.

YEARBOOK NEWS

I failed. Period. Interviews for next year's editor positions are going on right now. I screwed up my interview for assistant editor. I believe I have a lot of potential, with my experience, ideas, and creativity. Unfortunately, nothing I wanted to say came out right and I left out some important things too. I hope I get another interview for photo editor. Or I might not...because I've already been interviewed by the TEACHER. *bangs head against wall*

POLITICS

Two things:
ONE CHINA.
GO HILARY!
