Why must people insist on telling lies & then accuse me of being the liar? Makes me crazy & then they wonder why I won't talk to them anymore.....well duh. If anyone is going to be in San Antonio on the 15th of this month (this coming Saturday) come by the Plaza Del Rey Ballroom for the DIY Factory Craft show. There is going to be all kinds of good stuff, live music, live art, make & take, swap-o-rama, fashion show & art & craft vendors. The doors open at 3pm & close at 1am, the fashion show is from 10pm to 11pm. I have a table in this fair & it should be an interesting evening as this is the first time I have had a table at this craft fair. Just look for my Etsy shop name "Pack Rat Beads".

Update:It wasn't a total waste of an evening, but I will seriously consider doing it again next year. I didn't do badly but I didn't do great either as far as money goes. The bands were LOUD & the venue was too small for them to be that loud. When the bands were performing they turned out the lights, one can't sell anything in the dark as people won't buy what they can't see. Next year if I do this show again I WILL be taking along ear plugs & lights for my table; I might even get enough ear plugs to sell. My only other issue was that it was just late enough in the afternoon that hardly anyone came; I kind of wish it was earlier in the day. But as I said it wasn't a complete waste of an evening, I met some new people(other vendors) & made enough money to get a dog crate for the puppy I am going to bring home next week.

I found the little puppy I am going to convince my boyfriend I need. She is 11 weeks old & her foster mommy lives in the neighborhood (mommy is secretary of the Homeowners Association). I was out walking & the little loose neighborhood dog that follows me went over to play with her. She pets him & feeds him...stuff like that. That's when I went over and talked to her hence learning that she fosters animals. She told me she was looking for a home for this little puppy in her care & would be willing to hold the puppy for a while if I could convince my boyfriend this is the puppy I want. I am in love with this little pup, her foster mommy calls her Alecia. I think I am going to have to take my boyfriend up there to play with the puppy. I am so close to getting a dog.....

I am bored, I have the stuff (almost) to make 4 rosaries I am short 4 beadcaps. I will be selling them once I get them made like most everything in my gallery. I do have some of this stuff listed in my etsy shop, go drop by there & check it out. I am going to be adding some more stuff this weekend as I have so much just sitting around. I may also list the chainmaille necklace I made.

I also posted fliers in my neighborhood about me doing rosary design & repair, wish me luck with that. I found a bead store here that carries a lot of large-ish round beads that would make beautiful rosaries, I just need more money.

I can't light fireworks this year, we are under a drought advisory so no fireworks unless you go to specific sites & they charge admission. I am not into a $2000 dollar fine. It sucks. I am curious if I will be able to see anything from downtown or Six Flags, I haven't looked to see how far I am. I don't own a grill as we got rid of ours when we moved & don't have a new one, not like I have any friends here to invite over anyways. We were going to get one but that didn't work out, don't ask about it.

I am so bored, a little guilty, & a little depressed. It wouldn't be so bad if I could light some fireworks, at least then I wouldn't care about not having any friends here.

So we made it to Texas on Saturday morning, bought some appliances on sunday, had said appliances delivered on monday, movers showed up on tuesday, had to have appliances fixed today. Apparently the wire for the panel on the fridge had a bad connection & my washer won't unlock the door (it's front loading). It requires 2 different service men to fix these problems, the fridge guy came this morning & was pretty quick. The guy to fix my washer has not yet showed up, damn washer is holding my sheets hostage. I am supposed to be unpacking boxes but all I want to do is take a nap & my bf is sick so he is sleeping which means I have to wait around for the service guy to show up. Some days just suck.

I have really decided what I want, I just have to find someone who could draw it for me. As my "old ladies" are aging on me I want to grant them immortality & have my ratties sitting on their haunches eating a cheerio tattooed somewhere on me. I really do love my ratties, and they were my introduction to a furry, four-legged pet that wasn't a dog or cat. Mine aren't terribly hand trained but still more social than a cat & I can let them play in my bed. I am still "on the fence" about how I want them done (cartoon or lifelike) as great detail is not terribly important, just that the tattoos look like my rats (markings, etc). Oh well, just ranting. Maybe I will get around to asking someone.....eventually.

OMG! I FINALLY, after 14 years of wanting one, got a tattoo. It's SOOO cool and I am thrilled. I will have a picture to upload for you here in a bit, my bf took some last night after we took the bandage off. I went to a place called Steve's Tattoos in downtown Madison & Steve the owner did my tattoo. He has been in business 33 years & his place is pretty cool. The staff there get along well & are actually pretty easy to deal with. I have also figured out for me the pain really isn't all that bad. Steve commented that my skin takes ink very well & that I sat there like a "real soldier". My back aches from sitting there so still for so long. It probably took an hour & a half to get this tattoo, I didn't keep track too well because I was nervous. I will crop that pic now & upload it so that you all can see it.

So here she is & I already want another one.

Been busy working & stuff the last couple of months, 7 days a week for about a month & a half. Finally the season died off & I took a vacation, had some stuff to take to my family. I applied for space at a juried craft show about 3 weeks ago & found out today that I got a spot. YAY!!! Now comes the fun part, I have NEVER done a show of any sort....I don't know where to start. Hmmm....will have to ponder this.

In other news, I have some new stuff I have made & need to get scanned to share with you all. More bracelets & earrings & a couple of bookmarks I think. I also have a beaded Christmas ornament skirt that I made in a class I took Wednesday evening.

So I am off, going to run away for a bit & get busy on what to do about this craft show. I am so excited! Wish me luck.

Edit: The craft fair was total flop, the large amounts of snow & sleet just killed it. I am going to look at is as a learning experience & should I ever get the chance to do a show again I will remember what I have learned. Needless to say I didn't even make the $60 booth fee back, oh well. Maybe I will have better luck next time.

I seem to have ran last weeks through the laundry but I am having my doubts about that & I can't find the one for the week prior to that. Now mind you I am usually on top of this because I just don't lose check stubs, they are what I call important. For some damn reason the last two weeks have just disappeared. Even when the woman at work can get me copies of them for my records it's still rather annoying because I can't find them.

I am headed to the bead show in Milwaukee today, I shall return later with treasure. I might post some pictures later this week of my treasure. I was told by a woman that has been to the show to "try not to be overwhelmed." I think it's going to be a fun day, I might take my boyfriend out for dinner there, for taking me to the bead show.

My ever so gracious boss gave me friday off & because of the holiday we have monday off as well. Now this is nice because I had considered going to Indy to visit & I still may. If I don't it's going to be a terribly long boring weekend. I was supposed to go to the carnival this evening to take pics & maybe have an elephant ear, but it's raining and I live in the midwest again so this means wind, thunder & lightening as well. No carnival. If I were to leave for Indy right now I would make it there at about 2 am which has it's pros & cons; pros being I get to hang out with my nephew a bit more but not much because he has school, I could go visit some old coworkers, & I could wander around downtown. Cons are; it would be 2 am before I got there & I have been up since about 430 this morning, I have to convince my bf to let me go (his lecture would be about saving money for moving), & I don't want to hit Chicago at 730pm on a thursday night (some people get paid today). I can handle a little wind & rain, I enjoy thunderstorms, I just don't travel well when I am sleepy. I wish I knew what the hell I was going to do, I don't want to spend my weekend bored to death. It's also just a tad bit warm to be hanging out upstairs, I hate muggy weather. Can you tell it's been a rather boring day for me? I am done ranting now. Have a nice holiday weekend.

I was having a good day, weather is nice & I got off work early. Then I got home & decided to clean the mouse house, which means going to the basement to get a box to put the mice in while I clean their drawer. There is water everywhere, carpet is soaked, stairs are damp, it's squishy down there. Apparently the foundation of the house has a leak & it's bad. It rained last night & I think my gutter drained into my basement, OH JOY.

So now I get to spend the next two days that I have off dealing with carpet cleaners & maintenance men, at least I don't have to clean the carpet. I did take the wet dry vacuum to the carpet in an attempt to get some of the water up, I hate squishy carpet. I also had all of my moving boxes stored under the stairs & some of them got ruined, which sucks. So that's how my day went from good to craptacular in about 2 minutes. And to add insult to injury my basement smells moldy now, it's just great.

Oh yeah, I am now accepting donations to purchase plastic storage bins for moving, any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I don't need a lot but they aren't exactly cheap.

I bought myself a big 4 foot square section of pegboard from the fabric store across the street that is going out of business & 6 dozen pegs. Have to decide where I am going to hang it or if I am going to wait until after I move to hang it. I also got a bunch of fabric @ 60% off, going to send some of it to my mom.
Now all I have to do is find hanging tubes to put my beads in as I don't want to use bunches of plastic bags. If anyone knows of such a place & cares to share such info that would be great. I have some tubes & I can put hangers on them with ease but a lot of my stuff is either loose in drawers or in various containers not suitable for hanging.

I also got 2 new female baby rats, they are brown agoui (sp?) & sisters. I have a few pics of them from when we brought them home & they were still in the box. I have also taken a few others so when I get them off the camera I will make a collage for you all to see.

Green tea pocky is kind of strange....definitely a flavor I won't be buying again. I got some the other day at the Asian market & I think the rats like it more than I do.

I also got asked to participate in an auction in Texas to benefit the American Lung Association. They asked me if I would contribute a pair of my lollipop earrings and I said yes. That box goes in the mail on Monday, probably priority so that it gets there by Friday. Not much else to tell you about really, just working & stuff.

Edit: I got new treasures...the fabric store across the street from me is going out of business & is starting to mark everything down. I got new charms, some tools for my sis, earring parts, necklace toggle clasps, some storage containers, & grommet punches (not for beading). I am going to watch in the next few weeks as they give a bigger discount & see if I can snag a nice sewing machine. They are going to be closing in April & they have said that at some point the discount will be 70% off. I would really love to snag just one section of their button wall that is all peg board & a couple hundred pegs. Would be ideal bead storage. We shall see, I am going to talk to my bf & see what he has to say about it. That is all, just thought I would share.

I have been out in the snow taking pics of a necklace I made this morning & will post later, when my computer is done with it's backup. I have decided that I do like the natural light outside & snow makes a nice clean backdrop.
The mail lady even stopped to look at it, she was probably thinking I am crazy but she did say it was pretty. I don't get to do the craft fair but it's ok, maybe next time.
Now if I could just find some willing people to model jewelry, then I could decide if I like displays or models better. Hmmmm.....maybe I will rope Laura into modeling stuff.

I have been invited to apply for space at a craft fair in the spring & I need some opinions. Along with my application I have to submit pictures of 3 pieces of my work, what I need from you is your opinion on what three you would choose & why you chose them. The why part is just as important to me as what you choose so try to be very articulate when telling me why. The application is due by the 10th of this month so I won't be taking your opinions after sunday afternoon. That way I have enough time to get it mailed & be there on time, I do realize I am cutting it close but I kind of forgot about it when I went on vacation. So in short any opinions you offer this weekend would be GREATLY appreciated.

I got this in an email a few years ago & thought I would share it with you all this year.

'Twas the day after Christmas

Twas the day after Christmas, and all through the house,
Every creature was hurtin', even the mouse.
The toys were all broken, their batteries dead;
Santa passed out, with some ice on his head.

Wrapping and ribbons just covered the floor,
While upstairs the family continued to snore.
And I in my T-shirt, new Reeboks and jeans,
I went into the kitchen and started to clean.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the sink to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains, and threw up the sash.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a little white truck, with an oversized mirror.
The driver was smiling, so lively and grand;
The patch on his jacket said "U.S. POSTMAN."

With a handful of bills, he grinned like a fox
Then quickly he stuffed them into our mailbox.
Bill after bill, after bill, they still came.
Whistling and shouting he called them by name:

"Now Dillard's, now Broadway's, now Penny's and Sears
Here's Robinson's, Levitz's and Target and Mervyn's.
To the tip of your limit, every store, every mall,
Now charge away--charge away--charge away all!"

He whooped and he whistled as he finished his work.
He filled up the box, and then turned with a jerk.
He sprang to his truck and he drove down the road,
Driving much faster with just half a load.

Then I heard him exclaim with great holiday cheer,

As anyone who watches me can see I put up a yarn picture. I am going to open up hat & scarf commissions for the rest of this month. The money will be given to my sister

to help her pay what her insurance doesn't pick up from her hospital stay the first part of November (think 2 week bill). She doesn't know yet that I am doing this, it's kind of a suprise & ANY assistance that you guys can give will be greatly appreciated by her & her family.

Yeah.....I am 30 today. And no I don't intend to go out until this evening, too bad my friends aren't here to help me party. There are pro's & con's to having your birthday on Black Friday.

Update (11-26-06) Thanks for all the birthday wishes, it was fun. My bf took me out for dinner & bought me some new video games, an mp3 player, & clothes. He says that I didn't spend as much as he expected on the clothes so he still owes me for that, I think new shoes would be good. I was supposed to go play pool but the person who was going with me ended up taking a longer nap then they expected. Hehe....but it's ok, she works with me & works as much or more than I do. I also ended up getting a 35 cent raise on my bday, apparently they had not been paying me the correct hourly wage so I got a 25 cents more on the hour for that & I had my 520 hours in so I got another 10 cents for that. I also get all the backpay which means I will get somewhere right around another $100 on my next paycheck. So yeah, the birthday was good.

I am finally at a point where I don't lurch my car as much when I drive it. I do tend to still do it at stop lights though. I haven't squealed the tires in days either....now I just need to fix the starter wire. It has some managed to become loose & if it gets too loose the car won't start. Some days it feels like it's just one thing after another. Oh well, maybe in a year I can seriously consider replacing my current car with something a bit bigger.

Oh yeah....someone remind me to change that number next to "current age" under my ID on friday.

Hehe....I got my car back. $700 and a new clutch later I have to refresh my memory & my "lead foot" on how NOT to squeal the tires when driving my car. It's soooo funny, it's like learning to drive the car all over again because the clutch is "touchy". I guess I should go find myself an empty parking lot & work on not being lurch & squealing the tires. The best thing about it is I don't have to ride the bus anymore. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Public transportation isn't so bad except for all the waiting & the weird people that ride the busses. So yeah...I am happy & for now you can call me Lurch.

Do you realize how long it takes to get ANYWHERE when taking a bus? I always knew there was a reason I had never rode one. You may wonder ok, so why did you ride a bus today? Well I shall tell you, my car is having clutch issues. Plain as that, & while my boyfriend will take me to work I have to find my own way home. Which means ATTEMPT to convince someone at work to give me a ride (HAHAHA) or ride the bus. Needless to say even with a transfer it's easier to ride the bus, something I have NEVER done even while I lived in Indy. Oh yeah it takes almost 2 hours to get home, mind you when I drive it's a 10 minute drive. The first bus leaves every 15 minutes & it takes about 10 minutes to get to the transfer point, then the next bus leaves once an hour & that's about a 5 minute trip from the tranfer point to the bus stop in front of the condo complex where I live & this costs me $2. Needless to say the car is going to the shop either this evening or tomorrow so that I don't have to ride the bus come next week. I can get to & from work for about 3 days on the $6 it's going to cost me to ride the bus home & I won't have to wait. Other than the wait it really wasn't too bad, although the subways in Chicago & the Capitol are much better. I am done ranting now....I just had to get it out of my system, expect more when I finally find out what is exactly wrong with my car & how much it's going to cost. (it sucks to be me).

Yeah....so I have spent a lot of time taking new scans of most of my jewelry, it really needed it. If you browse through my gallery & see something that isn't updated yet be patient. I just got some jewelry displays this week & I have a couple of pieces that I will photograph simply because of size & my scanner doesn't do them any justice.

That is all, I just had to let you all know that I have been really bored & had too much free time so I revamped my gallery. Now I just need to do the same over at UJC someday soon. I am off to clean up my kitchen now (it won't clean itself & I won't let my bf clean it).

There are just days (like today) that I really hate sharing this "office" with my boyfriend (and the pet roaches). I caught some of the little buggers out on the floor & one on MY bead desk. I really don't care for the roaches, but because I love my bf I tolerate them. I think I am going to move my part of this office to the basement, half of it is finished. That way I only have to put up with my pet mice, I really hate roaches. I won't get to enjoy the sunlight but damn I just can't stand the creepy crawlies (and my bf wonders why I keep my shoes on all day). Hehe...I could evict him to the basement, roaches & all. I highly doubt that will go over well & if anyone moves down there it will most likely end up being me. I really just want some of my own space where I don't have to share with the roaches.

Reading: Olympus E500 Advanced Manual

I bought myself a new camera & I am in the "I want it now" mode, it won't arrive until about this time next week. I bought an 8.0 megapixal digital SLR by Olympus, comes with 2 lenses. I should proably bother to brush up on the few photography skills I have & attempt to learn new things, it's going to be fun. It's so nice to know that I can finally spend some real money on myself, it's nice to have a job. I guess I won't have to worry about what I am going to get myself for my Bday & christmas this year, I have spent quite enough. Now anyone reading this should head over to my etsy shop & buy some stuff to help me pay for another memory card for it. (hehe....j/k). Anyways...I am done now & no I won't whine about it not being here sooner. That is all....I just had to tell you all about it.

EDIT: It's here!! I just got it less than a half hour ago & I am charging the battery now. I won't be able to use it until tomorrow though. I guess that gives me plenty of time to read the manual.

I also updated some of the pics in my gallery with new scans, check them out because they are spiffy.
