I don't believe I told you this, but I had gone to Texas in a little town outside of Dallas to work at a Girl Scout camp for the summer. Met some interesting people, campers, and critters, you know, the whole she-bang. I've had moments where I couldn't go on and wanted to quit, since counseling was a new thing to me, but I'm glad I went through with it because I finally got into the groove of things. Now I kinda wanna go back, because now that I'm back to reality, I need to start filing for loans for the next year at SCAD-Atlanta.

Anyway, I wanted to change my avatar so badly that I grabbed an apple I just bought, snapped a picture and reworked the colors in Photoshop to come up with the new avatar of me eating the apple rather seductively.
Seduction is not my thing, I just thought it looked cool. Plus, I wanted the new avatar to somehow reflect my growth over the years, and now that I'm schooling in SCAD-Atlanta, I thought now would be a good time to show off my "awesome skills" in Photoshop.

Yeah, I haven't updated in the longest while, so here's the skinny:

So I'm transferring to Savannah College of Art and Design, but I have to wait til Spring Quarter to get the financial aid package since my parents just barely finished the tax forms required for this school year. And guess what? We're going to have to start the whole process AGAIN for next quarter. Yeah, thanks a lot.

In short, I'm stuck in this hellhole for a good 2 months with no job and no means of communicating to the outside world, since I'm practically cut off of internet and phone.
Snail mail, anyone?

Is anybody else feeling the weight of economic hardship?

While it's my personal policy to reply to all of your messages and comments, I'm afraid that with my lack of a reliable connection coupled with a summer job and reorganizing my filthy room, I can't get to all of them at this time. My main concern is getting a privacy screen for my laptop, since I'm technically piggybacking on a wireless connection in the mall (I don't think it's public WiFi, either, cuz I keep getting cut off constantly). Stupid punks keep looking at my junk onscreen, and I can't have them looking over my shoulders to see if I'm downloading something stupid, like porn. Yeah, go jerk off somewhere else, you front-running bastards.
Bah, anyway, so once I get the screen, I think I'm good. Until then, expect delays on responses. I appreciate the praises, criticisms, and random conversations a lot, so keep 'em coming!!

Soooo here goes:

1. I'd like to think that I draw everyday, but I don't seem to do that. So when I get back to pencil on paper some odd day later, I feel that the result looks like crap.

2. I mostly draw with a mechanical pencil, though at times I use a regular one for shading purposes.

3. I paint. Acrylics are my specialty.

4. I mostly do "chibi" doodles more than drawing. I say "chibi" in quotes b/c they don't really have characteristics that of typical chibis. My friends call them chibis, but... oh well.

5. When I got nothing else in mind to draw, I draw myself as a "chibi". Most of the time I'm the one who ends up the subject. Vanity, you say? Well, I don't post them on DA, now do I?

6. I also do clay figurines. They're not great, but they're good enough to get me comissions from friends. I usually do them as B-Day gifts, so I don't get paid. Not that I need the money, just the experience.

7. One of my paintings is in Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and is part of their permanent collection, along with other Scholastic Silver Award Winners' fabulous artworks.

8. I've recently gotten into photography after buying a digital camera (FINALLY!). Likes me some B&W photos of nature, unless the color scheme is too perfect to miss.

9. Music usually helps me get into the mood of whatever I'm drawing. Unfortunately, I don't have much of it.
