One was inspired by :devTordo:'s work Unexpectedly where I recreated the patterned sky effect in GIMP (then the next night I showed how to do the same thing in photoshop... it's on the same page).<br /><br />Then the other night I recreated my most popular Youtube tutorial (+40k views on there :O) on getting vintage colours in Photoshop (in that post i also explain how and why it works).<br /><br />So now you can get vintage colours in GIMP too. I still don't think it has the community that dA does, but now that I know some people on there and have some contacts so I can use the features, it's a more enjoyable experience. I like being able to upload any old rubbish on there and not expect to get any feedback.<br /><br />On here I have a larger audience who will look at my work, so I don't like to waste their (your) time on things that I only half-like. I'd used it a bit before, for searching for photos and had read about it in some news articles, so I finally decided to try it for myself.<br /><br />If you don't know what Flickr is, the Wikipedia defines it as,<br /><br />"a popular Web site for users to share personal photographs ... widely used by bloggers as a photo repository. In about January 2003 I got my Olympus OM-1n, in December 2003 I bought my DiMAGE Z1, and in December 2004 I bought my 300D.<br /><br />The OM-1n was an old film camera from the 70s that I inherited. It's a good camera and I learnt a lot by using it, experimenting with it and even developing my own photos with it.<br /><br />The Minolta DiMAGE Z1 was a great camera. It's half-way between DSLR and compact. One of the first ultra-zoom cameras. It served me well and just about every photo from pre-2005 in my gallery was taken with it. In our house before, we were sharing a dial-up connection between four people (only one person on at a time). So it's great having the computers networked so everyone can be on at the same time.<br /><br />In other news, I found this design magazine called Before&After. It has some great ideas, tutorials and stuff. There are a few PDF articles you can download from their site and others you have to subscribe to read.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Haven't updated this for a while :o I've been busy finishing off uni assignments and making Custom Shape sets, I guess. Only one more assignment left and I'm finished for the term 8-) I had an exam today... I think I did alright too. But on the way home I saw some really cool buildings - bright, contrasted colours, graffiti, texture. I was wishing I had my camera with me :shakefist:<br /><br />I'm going to have to go back there either tomorrow, or some time soon.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Walk Cycle<br />Animating a walk-cycle from the front is pretty hard :o Just thought I'd share that. I'm animating a character for a game I'm making as part of a group at uni. A walk cycle from the side is fine, but took me a while to get my head around doing one from the front. I guess it's the foreshortening that makes it hard. I'm also attempting to model a car in 3D with Maya and have a bunch of other stuff due within the next few weeks so I haven't uploaded anything for a while (that's my excuse anyway).<br /><br />I have some cool ideas for things but I won't be able to do anything with them until I get through this other work. I think I'll feature more of my older photos there, since most people don't have time to look through an entire gallery. It got a virus or something on it and was running pretty bad anyway, so we're clearing everything not needed off it and reinstalling Windows.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ The Adelaide devMEET was a big success with a huge turn out of four people :D<br /><br />No.. it was good. :devh-o-l-z:, :devsirnick: and :devrogie: and I were the only ones that turned up (although we weren't really expecting a lot of people). We walked around Adelaide talking, taking photos and getting sunburnt (I did anyway...).<br /><br />It would have been even better with a few more people and if it wasn't so hot. It was about 35 degrees Celcius (about 95 degrees Fahrenheight) in the shade so i can see why people might have decided not to come.<br /><br />But, i got at least three shots, that i'm willing to submit, out of it and maybe a few for my scraps too :D ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Wow, did anyone else watch the last episode of John Safran vs God?<br /><br />*sits and waits for no one to reply*<br /><br />For those who don't know what i'm talking about, this guy John Safran (who is actually Jewish) made a series exploring different religions. He's a writer/journalist but he's really funny. Anyway, in this series he went around the world trying different religions like Zen Buddhism, voodooism, some Viking religion and all kinda of stuff. He was in animal sacrifices and stuff and wore the secret magic Mormon underpants.<br /><br />So he's exposed himself to all these evil spirits and in the last episode he gets exorcised. Haven't been able to do as much photography as i would like over the past couple of weeks since i've had a number of assignments due.<br /><br />One that's taken up a lot of time is my 3D animation of a pepper grinder. We had to animate it in some way over 100 frames in Maya. I decided to do a bit more than that. My pepper grinder sits looking out the window as the days pass, wishing it could leave. Then there's a dream sequence where it grows helicopter blades and flies out the window.         <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I got a bunch (36) of my photos printed yesterday just in 4x6inch format so i could enter some into my photography club contests and just have them in my hands (its very nice to have your images printed and be able to look closely without seeing pixels... if you havnt done it i would recommend it :D ).<br /><br />I had them printed but in my previous experiences, the machines have defaulted to print 4x6 inch photos - but this machine i used defaulted to 4.5x6 inch which i didnt realise.  Anyway, i had no idea and came back a couple of hours later to find them printed with a white border on top and bottom with the edges cropped off! :no:<br /><br />I asked them a ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Hooray!...or w00t! as everyone seems to say.  I have 100 pages views!  I know thats pretty lame compared to like...everyone else, but i've only been here for a week and a half.  So i think its a nice lil, first milestone :)<br /><br />Anyway, out taking photos today around Port Adelaide - got a few good ones which i've put into my gallery < over there heheh.<br /><br />Tried out anew thing with the border of Bridge to Terabathia.  Some people like it and others dont.  I dont think it works perfectly with that photo but i might try it with others. ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I decided to look through my older photos today and i found some that were actually pretty good.  I found quite a few really but i've only put 5 on here today.<br /><br />Not much other news really.  Went out to lunch at my aunt and uncles - took almost 100 photos and only really had 1 that i thought would be good for here (see Artisty in Training.<br /><br />Speaking of bees (which we weren't but i wanted a segway) a bee could fly 4 million miles on a gallon of nectar.  Carrying a gallon of nectar would probably make it quite tired though so maybe thats not true... ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ I might be getting my own computer soon!  My uncle is upgrading his and is getting rid of his old computer so i can get it very cheap (prefeably free..but we'll see).  He's a graphic artist so its still a good computer even though its a couple of years old.<br /><br />At the moment i have to share a computer with 4 brothers so it's sometimes hard to get a chance to work but if i get one for myself i'd be able to do so much.  Hope it pans out.<br /><br />Speaking of computers, the first computer ever designed was Charles Babbage's 'anylitical engine' (designed in 1837). It was a steam powered calculating machine.  It was never build, though, because of financing  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Well, the sunrise wasn't the most beautiful one every, but i think it looked okay.I got some good photos at least.  A dolphin swam past after the sunset but i was too slow to get a good photo of it - only got the tip of its fin!  Oh well.  Anyway, i hope everyone has had (or is having) a good Easter.<br /><br />Yo-yo fact - The yo-yo was originally a Filipino jungle weapon, designed to be a returnable projectile which could be hurled at its target and brought back for re-use. ]]></media:text>
