Ok, for a year I have been SO looking forward to this movie. Read the book three times, and just anxiously awaited anything. When I found out Catherine Hardwicke wasn't directing it, well, my hope fluttered away like a butterfly caught in a hurricane, but like a good fan I stuck my chin up and said "Hopefully they will get somebody that can do it just as good". That was all I asked. And well, it didn't happen. All I can say is, this is the exact reason why MEN SHOULD NOT DIRECT ROMANCE MOVIES!!!

Seriously, Catherine Hardwicke GOT IT! She hit the nail on the head when it came to chemistry. But this moron Chris Weitz or whatever his name is, couldn't direct shite! I'm sorry, but there was NO CHEMISTRY in the movie... at ALL! Even the lines between the already connected Edward and Bella were forced and fast. And Jacob, Taylor whatshisface, couldn't act at all. I mean sure, if he's only got a few lines and some angry looks, he can cover that, but when it comes to trying to force a chemistry between him and Kristin Stewart, there was absofrigginlutely NOTHING there. Don't know if that was his fault or the directors, but something was amiss on their lines together.

And the screenplay... what did they read the book and just pull a couple of the key lines then mix in whatever else they wanted??? And the whole movie felt at times as if it was moving at an atomic speed, then other times at a snail's pace. They tried to do TOO much with it, and totally destroyed what I did like about the book. If they really want to do something as close to the book, then split it into 2 movies, instead of forcing the scenes and racing through them.

And OMG, seriously, they RUINED, and I mean RUINED Jasper. His hair is like... WTFOMG! And what was with the new southern accent. If he didn't have it in the 1st film, then well... don't add it in now. And love that whole 'stare' thing he had going on and how they introduced his ' power ' into the film... wow. How bout I dunno, since the movie was so damn long anyway, add 20 more seconds and properly explain it, ya know?

I mean, it's Twilight, and I like it, but seriously, Catherine or hell, pretty much any other woman, could have done a much better directing job than this. I blame the crappy directing, and HORRIBLE, just utterly HORRIBLE music score.

I'm sure there will be more things I can gripe and complain about, but I'm about to go into class, so I'll chat with ya all later about it.

Ok, I want to commission a digital artist on here for something special. I don't have much money, but I will buy a print, probably 3, from you. I want really good quality, professional artwork.

There's a famous sign that gets shown everywhere at Florida Gator games, it says "Superman wears Tebow Pajamas"

I would LOVE a piece with Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent, sitting at his desk at Metropolis with a Tim Tebow #15 jersey on, and maybe somewhere on his desk, or on his computer written "Tebow is MY Hero". Maybe a Gator helmet shown on his desk, basically ya know, Clark Kent uber Gator fan kinda thing. Note though, I don't want the Smallville Clark, I'm more interested in either the comic looking ones, or Christopher Reeve's version.

If anybody is up to the task, please let me know. I'm looking for something high quality like that can be seen in these images:

Do you watch the TV show Castle? If you are a Firefly fan and you missed it, you missed out on their much awesome homage to Firefly in their recent Halloween episode. Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion who played Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly) came out in the beginning of the episode all dressed in his Firefly glory. His daughter asked "Who are you supposed to be?" He states, "A Space Cowboy!" To which she replies "A, there are no cows in space (a lovely little line that came about on the forums) and B, didn't you wear that like... five years ago (which was when Firefly originally aired)?"

I absolutely loved it. He went on talking and took quotes and some of the southern slang used in Firefly. Just all in all, a fantastic homage to a fantastic show that we Firefly fans miss so dearly.

Lately I have seen a lot of artwork on dA in the traditional and digital fields of women with really truly disproportionate bodies. They have been extremely skinny yet with perky double D’s. I know that it’s mostly men that draw these, and they’re drawing what is in their fantasies. But I wanted to take a moment and talk about this. It’s something that’s been on my mind for months now, but has really come to fruition thanks to the class I’m taking in college now. I want you to take a moment if you can, and go to youtube and watch this 7 minute clip from a video by Jean Kilbourne, called Killing Us Softly 3: [link]

It talks about how advertising objectifies women, and basically affects us and causes various problems with our self esteem. This causes various emotional problems, as well as psychological disorders. Women starve themselves, or worse, to try and fit into what only 5% of Americans can ever achieve. We worry constantly, suffer depression, and even suffer from eating disorders, to try and get as skinny as some of these models. While I don’t starve myself, or suffer from any eating disorders, I am not immune to this. I see these drawings and think, “How am I ever going to live up to that standard?” I DO suffer from depression, and part of that is caused by my weight. I’m overweight, not by a whole lot, but it’s something I can’t control. I take medicine that causes me to gain weight. It causes me to be hungry ALL THE TIME. I don’t even like to look in the mirror at myself. Granted, I’m not even 200 pounds, but I’m overweight enough that it affects me physically and mentally. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not jealous or anything. I come from the opinion if you got it, flaunt it, because if I did I’d be wearing the skimpy clothing too. I just want women to be shown realistically.

It’s bad enough that we have to deal with it via the mass media, but as artists, we should be a little bit more cautious as to how we portray our artwork. Yes there is such a thing called fantasy, but when millions of people, including children are looking at this site, they see what is popular, and what is not. And what IS popular, are these disproportionate drawings of women that are completely unrealistic. All I ask is that you have some respect for yourself. Have some respect for your artwork. And most importantly, have some respect for women! I don’t mean to go all feminist on you here, but it’s really hard to be a girl in the modern age. I’d also like you to watch this video by Madonna, of a song that was pretty much banned because of its violence and lyrics. But I’ll have you note, it is NO MORE VIOLENT than an episode of 24. It was only banned because it had violence towards men. It’s called, “What It Feels Like For A Girl”: [link]

More on my week below:

Well, last week I cracked a tooth... turns out it was abscessed, so I got to go on antibiotics... fun. A root canal and $700 later, it's doing ok. Next week I get to spend another $700 for the crown... yay.

I hate one of my classes at school. My depression has reared it's ugly head and I've been quite moody to put it mildly as of late. I feel for my poor husband.

OH, but some good news. I found the neighbors with the dog, and I called Animal Control... we had about 4 days of glorious sleep but as of right now it's barking again. So... I might be calling animal control YET AGAIN!

The other neighbors that were honking, pretty much stopped as soon as I brought out my video camera and yelled at 'em. We'll see how long that lasts.

But yeah, been a crummy week up until today. It's halftime in my Gator Game and we're winning, so yay! And I'm ecstatic that I sold a print, although it says I still only have $3.27 owed to me. Sometimes I wonder about that.

OH, and if you have XBox Live, go download the tv show The Guild... or you can youtube it... funniest shite ever! Totally for all you girl gamers out there, and WoW folks.

Yesterday was a great yet sad day for me.

I started out with a horrible headache, got into my car to go to work and looked down at my phone, and I knew why. It was the 20th anniversary of my Dad's death. I miss him so much. I was only 14 when he passed. Not enough time to really get to know your dad. All the questions that I wished I had asked, I'll never know. The one thing that I always felt bad for was... he was a Gator fan when the Gators were the dregs of the league. He never got to see what they could do, because he died JUST prior to the season when Spurrier took over. So I hope he's watching from Heaven as we have the best team in the SEC, let alone the COUNTRY right now. For he was, and there's no doubt in my mind, he was the BEST Gator fan there ever was, and there ever will be. As he used to say... "I'm a Gator Through and Through... My blood bleeds Orange and Blue".

I miss you Dad!

Now onto some great news. Yesterday was ALSO my 4 yr Anniversary of being a DEVIANT! I gotta say, I can't thank you all enough. You all have been my inspiration, my shoulder to cry on, and most importantly, my FRIENDS! I am just in AWE of what I've learned and been able to do in the past 4 years.

For the Past 4 years I've learned so much. And I know I go on and on about such deviants as =RichAllen and *Sortvind for taking me under their wing, answering EVERY question I have, swearing me to secrecy about their tips ;) and just being so awesome. It's because of their tutelage that I've got more great news to tell you. It's because of them, and other awesome deviants on here like ^kkart and so many more I can't even begin to tell you, that yesterday after I took my final exam for my Digital Photography class, I talked to my Professor. I didn't want to tell you until I actually CONFIRMED it, but... I got a Scholarship! My Professor was very pleased with my artwork this semester, and has rewarded me with a Scholarship. I get to work for him for about 4 hrs a week, though I wouldn't mind more. And seeing as he's done one of my favorite ads for our local hospital, I'm just ecstatic to work under him. I can't wait till the next semester starts... and I told him if he needed me before that, I'm SO there! Ok, so yeah, I know how to suck up to the boss ;) ;) ;)

So it was a sad, yet really happy day. I realize at times I am quite the lucky gal... or just really poor that everybody takes pity on me, HAHA!


Anyhoo, off to work, but I just wanted to let you all know how much I love and appreciate ALL of you! We all do amazing work on here, and if we strive and keep it up, and grow in our art, I hope that one day we ALL can get the recognition we deserve!

Well, today is me and teh hubby's 4th Anniversary. :party: And where am I? What am I doing? I'm stuck here at school, so NOT studying for the big test... I've already accepted defeat, :whiteflag: because I just know I'm gonna fail it :P

So yeah... we have plans to go out this weekend, to one of our FAVORITE restaurants, Maggiano's. OMG, that place as THE best Mozzarella Marinara... just to die for. I keep saying... if there's only ONE food item I can have in heaven, it's GOTTA be that :P

Well, I gotta say, despite the crap that happened, I really had a great time at the con... of course, who COULDN'T when you saw Jackson (Jasper) Rathbone's enormously gorgeous smile!?!? It reminds me of James Marsden's... another fantastic specimen.

Beware... some minor Spoilers about New Moon

But alas, had a good time, got to listen to Peter (Carlisle) Facinelli's Q&A. He had some good things to say about the new director and New Moon. His favorite scene was stitching up Bella after her run in with Jasper. He said that he got help from a doctor to practice stitching, then went home and practiced on chicken breasts. Then took the chicken breasts to Kristin Stewart before the scene and she said "You are not touching me!" lol!!!!!

Then onto Edi (Laurent) Gathegi's Q&A. He was a ball of energy, just couldn't stay in one spot for too long. He told us about a trick he did to Jackson Rathbone on the set of the first movie. He said that he called up Jackson in the wee hours of the morning, pretending to be Kelly, an assistant in the movie, and asked him to come up to the set for a 3am call, because they didn't like his hair and wanted to change it. Then Jackson called his manager, and apparently she went off saying "Thank GOD, because it's HORRIBLE!" Then Edi felt bad and called him back, explaining that he was joking, and as Jackson called his manager again, she started backpedaling LOL! Poor guy! I loved his hair in the movie, I don't care what NOBODY says :D Edi was asked "What's your favorite scene from the movies?" From the first he's like, the walking carpet scene, where they were walking fast in the woods, he loved that. Then he's like, "Hmm, from New Moon, which scene could POSSIBLY be my favorite scene?" Well, if you've read the book, he only is in it for maybe a page lol. He's in the meadow and bumps into Bella, then Jacob and the wolf gang go after him. "I think it would be the Meadow scene" he went on and laughed. Then another person later on asked, "What was it like getting killed by Jacob?" I swear, if I heard any more "What was it like to act with so and so" questions, I thought I was going to barf, but he handled it like a pro. "Jacob didn't kill me, it took FIVE wolves to bring ME down!" HAHA, he started strutting around the stage like Laurent would have, he was great. I just loved listening to his Q&A.

Then we went and got our photos with Jackson, Kellan (Emmett) Lutz, and Peter, and even though we didn't have but a few seconds, I got to look at Jackson's smile and just melted. Here's a photo of the photo I took with my camera... I should have a digital copy soon enough, I paid extra for it :D

The autograph sessions took forever, and if you've read my recent post, you'd know what my gripes were. But as we got up there, OMG, happy-ness took over, and I squeezed off a round of photos.

First up, Jackson. I told him how much I loved him in Beautiful People, even though it was a shortlived show. He was like "wow, that was a long time ago" and I nodded, but I really did love that show.

Next up, Kellan Lutz. We technically weren't 'supposed' to take photos of them in line, apparently, but ah well. They just said no 'flash photography' while you're in line. I didn't use a flash ;-) So when the lady sitting next to him said "No pictures" I automatically replied, "Sorry" and he said laughingly, "No you're not! Don't be, I'd be doing the same thing" LOL! He was adorable.

Then finally it was Peter Facinelli's turn. He wasn't as personable while getting his autograph, probably tired or something maybe. I am speechless. At first I had nothing to say... nothing but kerpalsdrekakdadf came out of my mouth, because this was just totally unexpected, and totally floored me. I know I've complained, sometimes endlessly, about the Daily Deviation system. And ALL I can hope is, that my pieces that are DD's are WORTH it. Because if they aren't, then I don't want it, ya know? I want my art to be WORTH it. That's what I strive for. That's why I may take a thousand photos and only put up one, because I feel they aren't WORTH it.

"Leaving the Nest" was one I'd put up, that didn't really get that much of a reception at first. I was excited about it, because it was the first one that was so crisp and clear in the drop. I have worked so long and so hard on my macro, just trying to perfect the technique, but still had that nagging feeling of "Well, maybe people just don't like it... Maybe macro is starting to be overdone". But that never stopped me, and I will continue to do macro, because it's something I love SO much. As some of you are aware, I do suffer from depression. And photography is one of my outlets to let some happiness into my life. And waking up to this, has just made me so incredibly happy, beyond belief.

These few pieces are from 2005-2006


Lame right? Haha, to look back at them now, I shudder to think what I was thinking. Although, I really do love Phosphorescence, it still makes me happy... I love the rainbow effect on it. Of course, that was back when I only had a Panasonic digi cam that took snapshots, and a little 3mp Olympus that was my mother-in-laws.

Then I got the Nikon D50. And this first shot was taken on my 1 year anniversary on dA.




And now I move into the future with the D300. I am so excited. Thank you for taking a look back with me and thank you for continuing to watch me, throughout all my growth as a deviant-ARTIST!

See, I had the Edit>Color Settings> already on srgb but that wasn't enough, you have to convert it. I got it now. So my newest image is the first one that actually looks like it did in photoshop. I am going to have to go back and edit all my other ones too, LOL. Thank you guys for all your help :glomp:

Ok, since I got my Nikon D300, I can now set it to be in Adobe RGB. So I go into Adobe and change that from sRGBetcetcetc to Adobe RGB. I am STILL having problems with my photos being different colors on Photoshop and DeviantART. It's like slightly blander on devart. It's not as much as say the D50 was, but it's still slightly there. What else can I DO?

OMG. That's all I can say right now, because I don't have the time to post about it all. It's been what a week later and I'm still reeling from it. It was sunday last week, and I just yeah... one of the best days of my life, for sure!!!

But let's just tell you briefly... I got to hug EVERY ONE OF THEM. Got to talk to EVERY ONE OF THEM. And they were so hot EVERY ONE OF THEM.

Then tix to the concert was 4TH FRIGGIN ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!! :faint:

It' was all awesome, and yeah... So more of an update coming later, and I'll tell you what I said to each of them, but just a warning, many photos from the concert are forthcoming... and I do mean many LOL! Probably in the hundreds... you don't have to look at every one, trust me, lol!

Luv ya guys. Sorry it's been delayed a week, I've just been going crazy with work/ home life/ etc.

You have a awesome chance to use some of my photographs as gradients for your fractals if you have Apophysis. Somehow you might be able to use them in Ultra Fractal too, but I don't know how... you'd have to ask the creator of this awesome gradient pack... *amberwind

So go take a look and if you use it, let us know, because I totally want to see the fractals :D

1st Daily Deviation

Wow! That's all I can muster right now. As some of you are aware, yesterday 1/7/2008 I got a Daily Deviation for Frail --> So first off I'd like to thank `hellfirediva for that, because wow, such a shock and I am most appreciative of it.

You all know my bout with the DD's and how the true artists need them, and in my opinion every artist that loves their work and is true about becoming a photographer, they all need DD's. I will say this, ever since `hellfirediva has become a mod, she's done some great work with the DD's. I still don't understand how some (not from her) still get in there, but I digress. I got one and I am very proud of my work. I've steadily been getting better, working trying new things, and it's nice to be honored this way.

I'd also like to thank everybody that's faved Frail and have seen my work via the DD. You are new, and some of you are new watchers, so thank you for that as well. I wish I could thank you all individually, but wow, 400 faves and watches overnight makes it hard to catch up.

And to my longtime watchers... you guys I :heart: so much. You've stuck with me when I first came on here, to getting the better camera then the macro lens. You guys make all of this worth it, so I dedicate my DD to all of you, for we ALL deserve it!

Effloresce hits the 100 Mark

OMG GUYS & DOLLS!!! I just logged on to find that I have hit another plateau! My 2nd Photograph to hit the 100 fave mark!
