if you see an artist's work there that you personally know, try to contact them.

apparently, somebody is stealing people's work and selling them as prints. or trying to, anyway. you're not going to get anywhere close to a decent print quality from a downloaded jpeg.

what makes it even more audacious is that this person took the time to 'rate' all the stolen images. it just adds insult to injury, in my opinion.

come on, people. i'm going to disable downloading of images from here on. i don't need shit getting stolen from me. the stuff they took from me sucks anyway, i mean, what the hell? this is so bizarre.

i've decided where to go for grad school, although it's going to have to wait another couple years or so. i want to accumulate a lot of money first, rather than kill myself with another bunch of loans.

in other news i've recently gotten a comic gig, meaning that yes, i am in fact doing a comic. however, this is a freelance job and once it's over...well...it might help if i seek out some 'solid' employment.

this comic is 32 pages, and the company for which i'm working for is located in italy. i actually don't have a ton of info about the company itself, at this point. we communicate mostly by email, and thus far we've been establishing the characters, the style, and so forth. but i have been paid. and frankly, if all goes well, i'll make a respectable sum for this job.

in a way i don't feel worthy of this opportunity, knowing that there are edgier, trendier, more "exciting" artists out there. i have no doubts about my actual drawing ability. (since i can draw anything i want, technically.) what i wonder about is my originality and my sensibilities. i feel sort of unbalanced. i know that in order to make successful comics, i've got to be a crackerjack writer AS WELL as being able to draw. but do i have interesting stories to tell? only time will be able to answer that...

i'm lucky to have the opportunity to get some of my work published, though. would make a nice little portfolio piece, eh?
