Awesome. My schedule looks like its set up for a good run, the only classes that may involve some work are Calculus II and English 101. Senior project is basically done and I aced the presentation. This means I will have almost to homework aside from the occasional English and regular Calculus work. I got my ACT scores back and managed to get a 28 out of 36, not bad I think. I'm pretty sure Ill be able to get into NC State University, but I wont officially know until the middle of January. Less things to worry about now, so I have a lot more free time. I've been trying to learn how to work Maya, another 3d modeling program, but I cant seem to figure out the interface. I guess I'll just stick with blender3D because I have far more experience with it. Also, I seem to have gotten myself hooked on a free mmorpg called "perfect world." its actually pretty good looking and immersible for a free game and the first time I started it up I was impressed at the game's depth. Also also, Company of Heroes (by Relic, the same masterminds behind Homeworld and Dawn of War) is ridiculous. Try it out some time.

Yeah... So I was really bored today and I stumbled upon a website that supposedly tests your personality so I took one of the tests. Its a distributed computing project -- "People from throughout the world download and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved." -- that studies the folding and unfolding of proteins. Understanding this can lead to cures for cancer and diseases such as Alzheimer, so if your computer spends a lot of time idling, why not donate a few of your CPU's (or GPU's) cycles to Stanford so they can get one step closer to finding a cure for various illnesses.

________________________________

=======Older Stuff=======

Status 8-11-08 "Otakon and Ohio"
Great, its already the middle of August. Summer vacation is almost over and I'm due back in North Carolina at the end of this week. Though the entire vacation was fun, the highlight of it all has to be Otakon 2008 (for those of you who don't know, its a giant anime convention that takes place yearly in the Baltimore Convention Center).

Myself, my cousins, and a couple of their friends arrived in Baltimore on the 8th of August at about 6:00pm and stayed there until the 10th. For three days we wandered around the convention center, playing video games, watching anime, taking pictures of cosplayers and generally having a good time. The highlight of the trip was the "masquerade," essentially a talent show performed by the attendees. Speaking of which, the majority of the attendees cosplayed as a wide range of characters, ranging from movies to real life to anime to games. There were several awesome skits and shows, the best of which (IMO) was when a gifted flute player played several selections of music from the Legend of Zelda series. He sounded awesome and the entire audience gave him a standing ovation. Another highlight was the movie "The Girl Who Leaped Through Time," an excellent animated movie created by Bandai; the quality rivaled several Disney movies.

There were several places of interest during the con. The "Dealer's Room," was a massive hall with hundreds of different stalls, all of which were selling everything from clothing to manga to weapons. The "Artist's Alley" was another large hall where hundreds artists would sell their work and offer commission. The "HD Theater" was a large room with a massive movie-theater like screen and seats (This was the location were attendees could view movies and such). These are just a few of the places, I'm far to lazy to list all of them. The whole experience was great, it was well worth the $65 price tag for the three day experience.

________________________________

8-11-08: "Mid August Update" [link]
7-14-08: "Mid July Update" [link]
6-29-08: "End of June Update" [link]
6-14-08: "Father's Day Update" [link]
5-29-08: "New Journal" [link]
4-25-08: "School Update" [link]
4-15-08: "Tagged" [link]
________________________________

=======Friends IRL=======

<img class="avatar" src="htt...

I got back from a 2 day trip at the Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park in Williamsburg VA, yesterday at about the same time. It's a pretty good place to go if you're into aquatic activities. For an indoor facility its pretty expansive containing 2 large rides in which you have to take a 4 person raft, 3 smaller rides that you use intertubes for, a fairly large wave pool, etc. The room we got was pretty nice also as it had 3 beds (we reserved a 2 bed room but they overbooked and gave us a larger room which had 2 floors ^_^). In other news I'll be heading over to Ohio to visit my cousins at the end of this week.

Later on today I will start volunteering at my church's vacation bible school program in order to get at lest 20 hours of community service. The only reason I'm doing this is because I have to in order to graduate >_<. All of the hard work is pretty much done though, the band I put together knows most of the music we're going to be playing and the place is already set up and decorated. I would much rather be playing Team Fortress 2, Mass Effect, or sketching that helping out little kids though. Speaking of sketches, I haven't posted much of anything lately because I'm still getting used to my tablet. I've been doing a lot of sketch work recently in between gaming, LAN parties and trips to places. Hopefully Ill get used to using my tablet soon so I can start putting out finished pieces. The new dA Version 6 looks pretty solid,the only thing I regret about it is that it no longer functions on my PSP...

________________________________

7-14-08: "Mid July Update" [link]
6-29-08: "End of June Update" [link]
6-14-08: "Father's Day Update" [link]
5-29-08: "New Journal" [link]
4-25-08: "School Update" [link]
4-15-08: "Tagged" [link]
________________________________

=======Friends IRL=======

<img class="avatar" src="http://a....

=======Older Stuff=======

Status 6-29-08 "Free Time is Now"
The end of June leaves me with out very much to do until the middle of July, so I have a lot of free time now. Except for a few rehearsals for band, my summer is free until July 13; I returned from Band Camp on Friday night. From Saturday (6-21-08) until Friday (6-27-08) I was at Mt. Olive college attempting to get our field show together in time for the 1st game of the football season. At large we were successful, we memorized the music for 2 of the 4 songs and the field positions for 3 of the 4 songs. The first song is pretty much ready for performance as only a few pictures needed to be cleaned.

After my community service on July 13-18, I'm off to Ohio to visit my cousins one last time before we graduate. I don't know what will happen there, but If it is anything like last year it will be interesting. I haven't been drawing very much lately because I keep on getting distracted by Grand Theft Auto IV and Ace Combat 6, both of which are insanely fun if you play with your friends. Don't worry though, I'm working on some things right now and they should be ready to post soon.

________________________________

6-29-08: "End of June Update" [link]
6-14-08: "Father's Day Update" [link]
5-29-08: "New Journal" [link]
4-25-08: "School Update" [link]
4-15-08: "Tagged" [link]
________________________________

=======Friends IRL=======

I had one of those today.

So I leave band practice and go to the local Hardee's at around 4:35pm, order a Thickburger, and head to my car. Normally, I wouldn't go for fast food, but I had to be in church by 6:15 to play music for Confirmation (It takes half an hour to get to my church from my house and 10 to get to my house from school). I look up and go "Oh shit, its probably going to rain really hard really soon." The sky was black, the wind was whipping, and a dull haze obscured your vision past about 50ft.

On my way home, I hear an emergency broadcast over AM radio at about 4:55 saying something about a severe thunderstorm warning between. Once in my driveway, I hit the garage door opener in my car. Keep in mind, I have an electric garage door opener so I don't carry keys. Nothing happens. I think "Shit! The power is out." Then, according to Moor's Law, the wind picks up and sheets of rain start pounding my car. I run out to the back yard in the middle of the pounding rain to fetch the spare key and sprint back to the front door. I'm about to turn the handle on the storm door when BOOM! It hits me. No, not lightning, realization.

I may have the spare door keys, but they don't work in the storm door. I spend about half an hour running around the house trying to find a way in. Hell, I even tried to get in through a window, but the screen wont come out unless I slash it. Finally, at around 5:20, one of my neighbors notices me running around and yells "Hey, are you locked out?!" I say yes and they invite me to stay at their place until the power goes back on.

Said neighbor goes to my high school, so I know him pretty well. His mom explains to me that the power went out around 4:30 due to a circuit breaker or something exploding in town. Seriously, what the hell. It wasn't even any lightning or rain at that time. The rain slowed down to a drizzle and we spent a good half an hour talking about random things before one of their dogs (they have two) needed to be let out of the house. My friend goes to open the door, and, out of no where, the dog he didn't leash busts out the front door and runs off. We spend a good 5 minutes running around trying to catch him. We finally do and re-enter the house. The ceiling fan was spinning, so at 6:15pm, power was finally restored. I thank my host for his kindness and return home.

There was no way I would make it to church on time so I decided to screw it and stay home. I wasn't really worried about not attending, I was just pissed no one thought to put another set of keys out... So yeah, I learned a lesson today. Always have a spare key somewhere, not only for your door, but your storm doors.
________________________________

4-25-08: "School Update" [link]
4-15-08: "Tagged" [link]
________________________________

=======Friends IRL=======

<img class="avatar" src="http://a.deviantart.com/avatars/d/a/darkforestwarrior...

Nothing really interesting is going one IRL right now, so yeah... School has been boring me for the past couple of weeks. I'm currently taking Spanish II, Drafting, HN Chemistry, and Symphonic Band III (90 min class periods). Big whoop, I know; the only interesting classes are Drafting, Chemistry, and occasionally band.

Spanish is a joke, I've been in that class for 12 weeks and learned nothing. We never do anything in that class, maybe a couple of worksheets, but that's it, and, on top of that, the professor was out of school for a month and a half because he had shingles! We watched so many movies during that time period that its not even funny...

Drafting is one of the few classes I actually enjoy, as I have a real knack for it. At the end of the 1st reporting period, I had a 98, the highest score in the class (The class average was like a 80, lol...). During the time we worked on orthographic projection (multi-view drawing), I could churn out a clean, finished drawing in about 10 minutes, allowing me to do the whole weeks work in 2 days (Not one of them got below a 92%)!

Chemistry's interesting, but stupidly easy. I've always been a quick study on any topic of science, and chemistry is no different. As long as you remember your formulas, constants, and values, your set (I have a 99 average in this class). Easy doesn't mean perfect, as I make the occasional stupid mistake... On a side note, take chemistry if you like blowing shit up, we do that every week lol (I'm still seeing spots from the time we lit that giant magnesium coil on fire).

Band is well, band (I play the tuba). We play the same songs over and over again because half of our ~80 piece band sucks. Seriously, some of them (freshmen through seniors) can barely even play their scales... To make it interesting, I'm actually learning each of the pieces three times by harmonizing each piece.

Current Concert Lineup:
Sons Of Veterans March
(Couldn't find music on youtube, lol)

Lament and Tribal Dances
(Music here: [link])

"Ascend"
(Music here: [link])

1st Suite in Eb (E flat) for Millitary Band - Movement 3: March
(Music here: [link])

Deceleration Overture
(Music here: [link])

Pirates of the Caribbean: Symphonic Suite
(Music here: [link])

Well, that's about it. Oh, and by the way, if you manage to read through this massive post, you just lost the game.
