No, this isn't a plug for subscriptions.. quite the opposite, actually.
Most browsers support custom stylesheets. After fiddling with it for a while, I've found a way to completely disable those stupid "Sponsored Links" for sex drugs and suchlike.
Create a new stylesheet, or modify your existing one, and add this to it:

/* dA sidebar ads */
#subsection-nav-scriptads {
display:none ! important;
}
Voilà. No ads. The ones at the top of the page are also removable, I just don't remember exactly how.

It's kinda hard to believe how close it is to being over.. where'd all the time go? Those days, weeks, months felt long as hell while I was actually in them, but now it feels like they just flew by. So suddenly here I am, all but one of my really important finals already over, and just 4 days, 16 hours, 48 minutes until school's out. Wow.

You know how everyone reads computer-accident horror stories and thinks that they couldn't possibly happen to your computer?

I was wrong.

Through a sequence of events involving a blanket, a wine glass and a rotating office chair, about 8 mL of soda came into intimate contact with my Powerbook's keyboard and touchpad.

(insert sobbing screaming frenzied panic sequence here)

I let it dry out upside down overnight, which was mostly good but partially a serious mistake: there was a bit of soda on the underside of the PB, and it happily leaked its way down into the battery casing and solidified around the contacts, causing some very interesting behavior vis-a-vis starting up and shutting down.
After a long, slow backup process (this was once I had tried everything on the Apple site to get the thing to start up), I turned it off again and let it continue to drain.
A while later, I made an interesting discovery: the CPU heat (vented through the keyboard, as on all Powerbooks) had done an excellent job of making a bit of sugar-goo under the keys into a lovely oozy syrup that had plenty of time to seep around and make every single key nice and sticky.

One faint, nigh-invisible ray of hope stems from the fact that Powerbook keys are removable. That is, you can remove them *and* put them back on again, unlike most other laptop keyboards I've encountered. Thus far, I've cleaned the goo off the spacebar (which no longer takes two seconds to rise up again after being pressed), Q through P (though there was an odd bit of purple foam between the 2, 3, and W keys), most of the bigger keys on the sides, and the Exposé keys.

Sooo... advice? Condolences? Gloating "haha, your crappy Mac's broken"s?
