Sunday was the monthly antiques fair at the dog track across the road from my building.

At some stage, the guinea pigs had babies and I absolutely adored them.
I use to scoop them up in a peg basket and carry them around with me.

One day, I was playing with my friend Sara. Sara was blond and was always sick. I remember going to her house one day and it being the cleanest place I had ever been. I was so scared of getting something dirty I sat uncomfortably still most of the time I was there.

Anyway, me and Sara took the baby guinea pigs into a tent.
I decided it was a good idea to give them a bath and thus dunked each baby guinea pig into a bucket of water, dried them on my skirt and put them back in the basket.

Sara dobbed on me.
I remember sitting on a chair on the balcony of the school house when my mum came to pick me up. I listened to the teacher explain to my mother what I had done.

Still, whenever I hear a guinea pig squeak, I get the awful feeling that comes prior to getting into trouble.






Also, I've just realised that it's my fifth dA birthday coming up this weekend. That's pretty exciting.

I got a polaroid back for my holga. Yippee!
I also got some fuji instant for it which cost me $30!!!
Last night I tried to put it in. Seemed pretty self explanitory, so I stuck the black tab bit through, closed her up and pulled it out.
It got jammed. Then ripped.
The story goes on for a while with me blindly trying to fix it, getting so frustrated I nearly threw it on the ground.
In the end I just took it out, put it back in it's silver wrapper, put it in the fridge and went to bed.

The most frustrating part in all of this is that I feel as though I've just thrown $30 in the trash. Even more painful because I am ridiculously broke as a result of all my frivilous spending.
By ridiculously broke I mean I'm $120 overdrawn on my account and my credit card is maxed. Pay day is NEXT friday.

Can someone please come over to my house and show me how to do it. I'll make you cup cakes.

Being the bargain hunter I am, I moseyed on over.
In a box on the table, I saw burried under some ipod cases the word "polaroid spectra"

Surely this 20 pack of polaroid film isn't only 5 dollars.

I asked the sales guy behind the counter.

"yeah, it's on the table right?"

My heart started racing.

I sifted through the box sitting on the table and found two 20 packs and sixteen 10 packs of film. 200 photos for $90. Oh crap.

Buuuut, my polaroid camera isn't working.

So I hop onto ebay and find a spectra camera with self timer for $15. plus postage and exchange rates, about $40.



for a low low price of $130 I have a new polaroid and a fuck load of film.
I'm all giddy and excited. Can't wait for the camera to arrive and to start taking photos!!!

I've had the last week off work. I gave myself a birthday present of relaxation and as such, I have not had any access to the internet (most of you are probably aware that all my internet interaction is done through stealth in the office)
So, consider that my explanation for my absence. Right now I'm at my parents place (I caught the train up to have dinner) and I'm drinking beers and listening to the new Modest Mouse albums... It's... Okay. I'm hoping it grows on me.

Since my birthday, I've had the most wonderful time. Sleeping in. Laying in bed till mid afternoon, only getting up to shower and eat. Riding my bike around town and to my friends place to drink beers and watch the sun go down. Riding my bike home to kick on drinking box wine when the beer runs out and watching the sun rise.
Rinse and Repeat.

It's felt like a week of lazy sunday afternoons, but without that hollow feeling of having to work the next day.

I got a digital slr camera for my birthday. An Olympus E330. plus a 2gig memory card. Spoilt rotten I was. But it is absolutely beautiful. I'm simply loving it. In a week I've taken close to a thousand photographs.

I hope to share a select few of them with you soon.

On the sentimental side of things of turning 21;
My mother, when she found out she was pregnant some twenty one and 6 months ago, started writing a journal and also bought a ruby ring. For my birthday, I received both.
It was an interesting experience, getting these two things. I've always known, since I was a little kid, that these were for me when I turned 21. But actually wearing the ring on my finger, and reading my mothers accounts of her pregnancy and the first years of my life was a real life altering thing for me.
I feel closer to my mum now than I ever have in my entire life.

I just realised that I'm obviously getting drunker as I write this (an added bonus of dinner at my folks place is that the fridge is fully stocked with beer) so I'm gonna cut this off before you all think I'm a sap.

I don't usually write journals like this... I apologize.

Slot a little round pod into the machine. Press a button. Hey presto- fresh espresso. Press another button. Steamed milk. A perfect latte in literally 30 seconds. I am so down with this machine. and it's near my desk. So I've had 3 coffees in the last 3 hours. one of them I used two coffee pod things. So that's like 4 espressos.
My entire body feels like it's vibrating.
I want a cigarette.
so bad.
Gum is a shitty shitty substitute. I've chewed so much gum in the last 24 hours that my jaw hurts and my gag reflex is all sensitive. I put a pen to my lip earlier and gagged.


Ridiculous. I feel like another coffee.
