As I mentioned in my last journal entry, the last round of NOTLD:R came and ended.... as of last Friday. I was up til 4am compiling, fixing, and sizing images til I got my last animation done. Alas, it can use some tweaking.

And now that the submissions have been looked at, turns out lots of people flaked and didn't do what they promised to do, many including larger portions. So, that being said, left bits of the movie undone. How does this come back to me? I got recruited to do more, that's how! Actually, I was assigned a scene, and a long one at that. So I'm actually going to have a sequence in this that's ALL MINE.

How great will that be? I can point at the screen and say that's MINE before it's even over. LOL.

I actually sat and generated the cells for this scene.... it's 454 frames!!! But once scanned, each frame will occur more then once, so it's really a 1300+ frame scene. Oh my pooooooooooooooooah hand. Pooooah poooah hand.

Seems like it's been a while.. (and it probably has)

Well, I've had quite a few things on my palette lately. I've been asked to take part in a fan project that is remaking the Night of the Living Dead movie using art/animation. Odd, I know it sounds, but I loved this movie so much, I figured it would be really fun. And it has been. The official site is at [link] .... (you can see one of my stills there) And apparently 2 horror festivals want to screen this when it's done. Double squee! The first scene I tackled isn't really animation, but the next one I want to do I will attempt it. So.... wish me luck there.

Also, I might have a table to display my art at an upcoming Art Love Magic show. It's a local thing for local artist. And I say 'might' because I'm afraid if I keep talking about it, I might jinx myself. I'm nervous and flattered at the same time. I've been finding things to draw that I might be able to make some money with. Any suggestions?

It's so weird... all the opportunities that have come to rise since I met my love. She was the one that insisted I do DeviantArt, and it's through her that Art Love Magic even know me. I certainly owe props to her.

Greetings. I uploaded my Night of the Living Dead drawings I did to take to the Texas Frightmare Convention tomorrow. The cast from this classic will be there! How exciting. I was excited when I found out about this late last year, and it's already here.

The postcard I had first gotten had it listed that Judith Ridley (spelling?) ... aka, Judy would also be there... but I guess they were still in the planning process.

I hope they like the drawings. I did them for the actors to keep. I was also planning on doing a reproduction of the poster, but alas, time escaped me. I shall bring my dvd only. Maybe they'll have a cool mini poster.

Eeeeeeee! I can NOT WAIT!

I'm currently working on some shirts I'm doing for a friend.
Things on the homefront have been a bit hectic so trying to draw has been hard lately. I miss life away from home.

I did start drawing a few pages from the current Gargoyles but I had started on a small drawing pad. I decided I wanted to take this a little more seriously so I went and purchased myself a pad of Bristol board.... yes the cheap man's (er woman's) alternative to Comic Art Boards.

I then went on a mad search online to find out what the standards were on comic page gutters and boarders. Nothing. I had gone to Half-Price Books to see if they had any art books on the matter, which I couldn't find. I did find the Joe Kubert Comic Book Studio Kit though. It came with some cool goodies. It didn't have the panel gutter info I wanted so I went online yet again. This time I emailed an artist in the business whose website I stumbled onto... a Mark Lipka. He gave me some good info. ... mainstream comics, the basic page is about 10" x 15" (live area). (Total page is about 11" x 17") The gutters should generally be between one-eighth and one-quarter inch wide.

He also recommended me getting the DC Comics Guide to Pencilling by Klaus Janson. Now to find it cheap!

With the release of the new Gargoyles comic books, I have decided (along with a friend of mine from middle school that loved the show) .... the artwork is horrbile. HORRIBLE. I'd the latest issue makes the book appear child friendly. But that's why I liked Gargoyles in the first place... it wasn't child-friendly. Sure kids watched it, but I bet they didn't understand a lick of it.

That being said, I think, when I have the time I will redraw the latest issues. (3 total) I would like to redraw them true to the art that it began with. I fear the whole... it's Disney, you can't touch Disney, but I feel they are letting us hardcore fans down. Let's see if I do... and how they turn out.
Wish me luck.

On quite a few things all at once actually. I'm coloring in a Hellboy I drew for my girl. I went ahead and added a background to it. Ever get ahold of an old drawing and get the urge to 'make it better'?
I'm also working on a goofy comic rendering of me.
And then I'm working on Harry Potter stuff for my job. Yea, we're having a Potter Party at my bookstore for the next and last book. I get to do the school crests of Hogwarts to be made into coloring pages. Then I get to watercolor slightly bigger versions to be used as signs. Pretty nice, huh? I'm no Potter fan, but it's letting me draw for money. Go me.

Then I want to draw another thing in Bradstreet style. I want to do a Batman... and get to use an Ebony pencil I've been told about. A trip to the art store is a must in the VERY NEAR future.
