Now that's it. For several weeks the metro in Berlin only uses 1/3 - 1/4 of it's trains, because they haven't checked their wheels enough and now the ministry forced the company to take the trains off the rails for instant checking. Means that the lines which normally have a 3-4 minutes schedule are now in the 20-minute schedule.

First possible date when everything may be normal again: September.

Today they offered the next unfortunate events: They have to take off more trains. Means: No metro in the city and no end in sight!And since the metro has a different rail system than other cities they are unable to borrow extra trains for support.
Hilarious for a capitol where the summer holidays just started.

I will have to buy a bike to get at work.

The thing about movies

High rated movies are good. They're dragging millions of people to the cinemas, offer thousands of merchandise articles and ... are a good start for a second movie - which of course will be more poromoted than the first one and will be more expensive and have more action and more merchandise and more this and that. When every one is in the right mood - there will be part 3! Mostly it is now when the merchandise becomes ridiculous. The DVDs will have there 2nd or 3rd release with "never shown scenes" and "Now will all ever cutted scenes" and maybe a commentary track from every actor for the whole movie.

And so on and so on.

For example: Lord of the Rings
Part one: absolute brilliant!
Part two: very good but not as brilliant as the first one.
Part three: when will it end.... please. (still don't have it on DVD and I guess I'll never have)

For example: Harry Potter
Part one: pure magic, I so love it!
Part two: uh..ok, a bit different but good. Still good.
Part three: now that's a turning - nice, really. (In fact I liked it more than part 2)
Part four: ... what? skip it. This was a big big BIG fail.
Part five: *yawn* Hope you don't mind when I don't spend the money for cinema but wait for DVD.
Part six: Do I really want to watch it? Uh...

For example: Star Wars
Episode 4: LEGEND!
Episode 5: brilliant but a bit more serious
Episode 6: What the heck was the meaning of the Ewoks? To make the movie pg-rated for kids?
Episode 1: Oh please... skip it. Little boy rescues the world.
Episode 2: No. no. no. no.
Episode 3: The worst Star Wars movie ever. To turn one of the best movie villains ever into an
emo freak and making him so unbelievable. No.
Not to forget the Ewok-Spin off movies. W. T. F.

BUT!
Sometimes, really very seldom, it happens that later movies are much better than the older ones. Not because of all the electrical gadgets and the newest CG effects, but because of the actors and how the characters are played.

For example: Batman
The old movies are absolute brilliant without a doubt. But they are still comic movies.
Batman 1 and 2: I so love them!
Batman 3 (with Robin): Ok... changing styles, got sidekick, interesting. But missing something, the first movies had. Didn't liked it that much.
Batman 4: ... never saw it and never felt like I had to
Batman 5 aka Batman begins: Oh yes! This one is really great! A really convincing journey into Batmans mind.
Batman 6 aka Dark Knight: I don't think the big hipe about the movie is right, but I have to say that first half of the movie is the best thing I ever saw of a Batman movie (I mean the part before Mr. Wayne gets emo.) Why? Because it's completely off a comic world. It's feeling real, what also scares a bit. And the joker - yes. This is a really dangerous insane guy I will never ever meet in the street, no matter if day or night.

And last but not least: Star Trek
The newest Star Trek is the first time ever that I think the latest movie of a series is the best one! It made it right into my personal top 5 and not because I'm a fan of Star Trek (what I'm not, not that much at least ) but for a brilliant movie with very convicing characters, great character play, interesting story which doesn't force you to know the whole Star Trek classic universe. When I first saw the trailer about half an year ago I felt like "OMG, are they crazy to get those kids for a new Star Trek movie?". After I saw it I had to change my mind to "WOW! Breathtaking! This was the best thing ever!"

So sometimes, the 11th movie is the best one.

I can't believe how cruel people can be. Killing animals for TOYS? Just to have real fur on it? For what purpose? Are they feeling fine with "only" a small piece of real fur on their keychain instead of the coat in the closet?

I hope all of them will have moths eating up their furry toys.

So during the last days I canceled my contract for my website [link] which will expire in October.
I never found time to update it regulary and for the design I must say - I liked it several years ago, yes. But I would made completely different now.

That's why I'll work out a new website, maybe new domain, maybe I'll get to old one back.

All I can say that I will overwork the whole thing within the following months (I hope it won't take years )

Yesterday I not only saw the brand new cinematic trailer for WotLK:

but also the demonstration of the new Prince of Persia 4. In my opinion absolutely stunning graphics. The figures looks like they are 2d-painted but still a 3d-animated. Wonderful!

Also very delicate: Warhammer online. At least the trailer was very good (like for the most video games). I rarely saw such a mean slimy goblin like this one. Unfortunately the game play was not as liquid as it should be to give it a good feeling. The interface wasn't that much WoW-stlye anymore like on the last presentation.

10 things about my art

Got tagged again, by ~LadyAsenath this time.

So I'll tell you 10 things about my so called art. 10 things... *dies*
O.k., let's see:

1) ABOUT MY DRAWINGS - I started in late autumn 1997 when the first anime magazine came into my hands. So in the beginning it was mostly anime/manga styled. I bought a lot of watercolor pencils and model lack for my brushes. Then I also tried acrylics. Now I try to get away from the manga style and develope something like an own style.

2) MORE ARTSY THINGS I - Since I work for an advertisment company and have several digital cameras as weapons of choice I started to make art photography about a year ago. And I promised to never ever use ugly photoshop filters on the fotos again.

3) MORE ARTSY THINGS II - When I was more into manga and anime I also did some cosplaying. I sewed several costumes but none of them is still existent. The best one was Raziel from the game series "Legacy of Kain-Soul Reaver". Also took me the most time - about a year.

4) LATEST TOOL OF THE TRADE I - I keep on buying watercolor blocks. And ink pencils. I like the ones with brush tips very much. ^^

5) LATEST TOOL OF THE TRADE II - Right now I'm paying rates for my new digicam - Canon EOS 300 D. It belonged to my boss but he sells it to me since the new cameras are faster and not as heavy as the Canon.

6) MY BIGGEST WEAKNESS - There's always something more important to do than to finish a picture.
When I don't pull myself together and finish a pic within a week (when I use watercolors) I will hardly ever finish it. Most times I figure out how wrong it is and someday start it over again.

7) MY SECOND BIGGEST WEAKNESS - Never satisfied. Of course. Who is ever satisfied with his/her own work? There's always something which should be better.

8) ME & ANIME / MANGA STYLE - Like I said at point 1) - it was the beginning. But by now I hardly can look at the oversized eyes. It's not that I don't like it anymore - I still like several series, but it depends a lot on the characters and the story. I like it more realistic. Or childish as the works of Ghibli. ^^ Sometimes I still draw a bit a/m style but when I suddenly figured out that such pictures are drawn much faster and even the coloring (cell style) goes faster than the usual watercolor technique I became a bit upset about it.

9) INSPIRATIONS - Music, music and more music. Stories, books, movies. Dreams. Other artists works. I like to look at the tutorials here on dA a lot - there's always something I can learn or improve.

10) CURRENT PROJECTS - a fanart for ~aslah, several sketches in my scetchbooks waiting to get some color. Recently I start to shade it the pics with nothing but an ink pen and add some colors in Photoshop. Nice way to shorten long waiting periods - like six hours in the train and so on.

...I'm into series right now. Started the fox-seasonal-series with crayons about a month ago with the autumn - and spring is already inked. Hey, I said nothing about actuality or order.
Next series will be a i-series. What an i-series is? Look at the iSeph and so know it. Since I'm working a lot with advertising the posters of apple's iPod are so remarkable I can't help it but have to make a small series of it. And what could be better than the characters of Final Fantasy? Especially the wonderful characters of FF VII - Advent Children. Yes, yes, I'm addicted to that brilliant movie. One dosis per day is an absolute must-be.
I don't know how long it will take me - the pics will drop in from time to time.

For the next 2 weeks I will be veeery quiet - since I will drive home to my parents and leave my preccciousss presario alone at home. Hope he will fight against any intruders. ^^

That makes my time for drawing and coloring much thinner than before and leaves more to photography.

I watched the happenings of the last days with a twitched eyebrow - if I would be able to do so. O.ô

Maybe sounds rude, but I don't think it's the end of the community. I feel sorry for °jark , yes, but on the other side, it's a problem no one can change anything about it.

I wonder how now lot of people comes up with the dA-community spirit when about half a year ago lots of people said, that dA is no community anymore but a place for messing popularity. I hardly find a true community spirit here. I have a few friends I also know in real life and found some new friends here, yes, but a community feeling - no. It's like forming gangs and clans and a lot of people forget that art is a thing of personal liking, not of favourites and hit numbers.

If dA wouldn't be commercial there would be no dA. I will never buy a subscription but not because of the dA-is-too-commerical but because I don't see a help in the added features (and I have no credit card ) It's playing stuff, not really neccessary. On the contrary without subscriptions dA soon would collapse, the server and internet costs must be extremely high. They are offering such a hugh ammount of webspace where people from all over the world can submit their art without paying a penny. No one is forced to buy a subscription. It's more like making a donation when one buys a subscription. Nothing else. So now the gossip starts to start buying prints and subscriptions. What exactly are they expect to happen then? That °jark will be welcomed pack? They only thing that will happen is that dA will collapse into bankrupty. That would be wonderful, wouldn't it? No more space for admins who kick their fellows off for their own reasons.

Sorry, but I can't understand how some users are spamming and flaming the admins to force an answer out of them. Who do they think are they? Ever heard of the obligation of discretion? How can they ask to be informed what happened? It's rude and it's unfair to act like this to the people who spend so much money to give artists all around the world a place where they can submit their art for FREE! This point is taken as an implicitness, or what? They offer you a space for your art, for your stuff, for making contacts, getting orders (like one of the last pollutions said it really happens!) and for thanks they are kicked in the ass. Yes, what a community spirit. Bite the hand which is feeding you.

So since today it is one year since I joined dA. What is the result?
I met some wonderful people, found new friends, got a lot of exercise in drawing, built up my drawing and coloring skills, found out that I'm addicted to fotography and hope to stay here for some more time.

anatomy and coloring

Like during the past few weeks I will upload only few pictures. I concentrate on my anatomy knowledge of humans and animals and try to fill my scetchbook half full with drawings of bones and muscles. On the other side I try to improve my coloring skill with watercolors. As much as I like the computer colored pictures and try to not do it anymore. 2 points for that:
1) I do it at work and I don't have the time to color pictures with PS anymore
2) I guess I'm much faster when I use brush and aquarell colors - and I have less pain in my hand and wrist

Nethertheless I will keep on uploading. Got a lot of scetches waiting to be colored. I hope I will finish some stuff during the weekend but somehow weekends are going by while cleaning the flat and making laundry and so on.

The wonderful *uguisubari will help me to improve my drawing and coloring skills. The results you will see here from upload to upload. Means: less digital stuff, less photographs but more watercolor and pencil. I've got some watercolor pieces from her on christmas and that gave me a great push to turn a bit away from my watercolor pencils. So I bought a whole box with 12 colors and some extra colors and I so love them.

Right now I'm working on the following stuff:

Hi everybody,

Christmas was funny, New Year much more and baka me (or better my character) killed one of my most beloved rpg-characters. Why? WHY????

Aaaanyway, the new year starts. I've got a new monitor for my workstation - 21 " TFT. *hugs bossy* Now I can think about working a looooot with photoshop.

... I created my DA account. I never believed that there are so many great artists, or so many people who like the stuff I make.

I mean - when a close friend or someone of your family says "wow, great." - that doesn't count. Even when they mean it for real, it is taken for normal. They hardly say what they really think about it because they won't hurt one.

I really like to make some more pics in the style of the shadowfox and the shadowcrow. But I'm afraid I'm a bit out of ideas right now. Any ideas?

I'll color the foxes siesta and the raining picture (so you can see that it's raining... -_-°)

My head is full with ideas for new pictures but somehow I can't draw them. Lack of time and skill.

I have a lot of hell to do to get my japanese lessons done. Today I'll make the registration for the JLPT and - if time allows it - I'll color one of the foxes.

Since there's nothing left of good pictures to submit it will take some days until I can show the next one.

the big 500

Today is the day: my site received the 500th hit. So I want to thank you all with a tiny picture.

I'm so happy. It took me so long to color him and the foxes. It's much too big for the scanner (I had to scan it 8 times and then put the pieces together - no thanks) so I decided that it's o.k. when I only make a photo.
