December of 1997: Marlui's new CD is  called 2 Ihu Kewere: Rezar. It's a Mass  that celebrates the 400th anniversary  of the death of José de Anchieta. This  is also a Blue Jackel release. Marlui  is now immersed in her next project:  ten more CDs! The next is a ballet, to  be performed by Ballet Stagium from São  Paulo, with sets by Japanese-Brazilian  artist Tomie Ohtake (isn't Brazil the  most amazing melting pot?). We'll keep  you posted!

What is Noir Bavardage .. well it's French! for "black chatting" or "dark chatting" and as a word play can also be understood to mean "chatting about noir" It is a new DA group run by yours truly :devrakastajatar: and :devvalhalla-vania:. The focus/theme of the group is red, noir and vintage! With the 1930's Paris, France in mind ... We still need an icon, but I think it would be awesome to hold a contest first for members to create icon's and vote .. etc etc.

World music fans are mourning the loss of Itamar Assumpção, who lost his battle with intestinal cancer on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at the age of 53. Mr. Assumpção struggled for more than four years with the disease and chose to leave the hospital for the comforts of home care.

Best known for mixing samba with rock, funk and reggae, Mr. Assumpção recorded seven albums in the course of his career. His last album PretoBrás was released in 1998.
