Hello everyone - I'm so dreadfully sick (the fever, cough, and the flu has caught me off gaurd), but I wanted to share something with you that most of you will [hopefully] find amusing.

Well, my mom owns her own hair/tanning salon, and she has a new client. His name is Nader, and he's from Persia. X D I've met him, and he's such a sweetheart - I couldn't help but think of all of you!

As well, I have a free choice of doing anything for my art class this semester/term, and I'm really stuck on what to do. I really admire 's inkwork, and was thinking of pushing my inking skills that way, or I was thinking of designing period costumes for my favorite historical novels/or make 'new' clothes with a historical flare. But I'm not really sure. I would be most obliged if anyone could give me some suggestions.

Wow. Summer is actually ending.

However much I dislike the beach, it was a tad depressing going there for the last time yesterday. Some of the trees there already started to change color, but the temperature was still nice. School starts this Thursday, piano this Wednesday...everything goes back to the grind. Unnngh.

Annoyingly enough, I FINALLY have inspiration to draw - right before school starts! ARRRGH. Nothing for the majority of the summer, and now - BOOM. Ideas hit me from all sides, and I don't know what to do first.

Well, in any case, my account here should be updated soon. Especially with the art trades I have on the go.

Wow. I'm actually experiencing an artist's block. I have not had one of these for a VERY long time. Although, I have heard that this infliction has become contagious this summer; as some of you, my very own devART friends, are experiencing it as well.

I think it goes without saying that this is partially due to my music history exam which I wrote on the 5th of this month. I had to study my brains out for this 3-hour exam, and did not have time for much else other than what was necessary. The saddest part is that it has seemed to dull my obsession with Phantom, which I was really still high on, and was continuing to enjoy the ride.

I have been reading some vampire and Mozart novels, and am awaiting a tres amusant Polish Chopin movie. However, this seems to be not enough to inspire me.

So, my dear friends, I humbly ask you to bestow any inspiration upon me, either by suggesting/requesting/art-trading Phantom, composer, or vampire-related art. As you may have noticed, I have not updated my art since July 6th. This is plain pathetic, people. Please help me out. I'm desperate for new art; my hand wants to draw, but my mind cannot conjure anything substantial.

Andrew Lloyd Webber has recently released an orchestral score for "The Phantom of the Opera", entitled: Phantasia. It is technically a concerto grosso for violin and cello; the violin representing Christine, and the cello portraying Erik, the Phantom. This is a 35-minute long medly of all the songs, including "No One Would Listen/Learn to be Lonely".


I was completely bewildered after hearing this for the first time on Friday after someone on GB.net so kindly posted a link. Currently, it's only available in Europe, (until July 16 ;__; ) but I have a little suprise for you!


There are some really amazing moments in the piece - I was completely amused that "Stranger Than You Drempt It" was altered into a tango, and I began to tear at the end when the violin plays "Angel of Music" while the cello pulls through with "Music of the Night". *le sigh*

Melodie du Paris - A little song our poor heroine, Christine Daee (yes, her name is spelt differently) sings at the start of the musical - in this version, her occupation is to sell songs, which is how M le Vicomte finds her. (Raoul's name is Phillipe de Chandon in this version, btw). At the end of this song, Carlotta orders her *cough* costume man, Joseph Buquet, to see what stuff is stored down below the Opera House. Carlotta has so much power in this version, because she is married to the new manager.

Paris is a Tomb - The first song our dear Erik sings - yes, do love his angstiness and killing.

--

Dressing for the Night - The sort-of "Masquerade" equivallent in this version - the whole cast gets dolled up for opening night.

--

Where in the World - Erik has just heard Carlotta's voice for the first time, and wonders where there is a voice and soul that truly knows music

--

The Place is Mine - Ah yes. Evil Carlotta's first, and (thank God) only song. Brag, brag, brag....

--

Home - A cute part in the play where both Erik and Christine meet - Christine is now working at the opera house as Carlotta's costumer, and Erik hears her singing one night. She feels at home at the opera house, and he feels at home in the sound of her voice.

Music Lessons/Phantom Fugue - Probably the catchiest piece in the whole musical - Erik teaches Christine, and the rest of the opera staff build up the mystery of the opera ghost.

You Are Music - My most favorite song in the whole musical, and what I based my artwork after (see the link at top of this journal entry). Erik and Christine during one of their lessons, although they both mean what they're singing to one another.

The Bistro - A little get-together of the opera company at the bistro! (How exquisitely Parisian!) Christine upstages Carlotta, and Phillipe is all happy for her.

Who Could Ever Have Dreamed Up You - Check out Phillipe's accent! X3 His adorable (and slightly annoying) little song to Christine. Christine has her first confusion as to which man she has more feelings towards.

Sorry for not updating in a while...

I have a really important question to ask you all - if you own the double-disk London cast of POTO, do both CDs only have one track each? This is bugging the crap out of me - it's almost better to get the tape version (which I have as well ^^) because if you remove it from your player, it will stay where you last left off. URRRG!

I went to a record/CD/Book/Music Memorabilia vendor's thing today, and I was very lucky to find some Phantom stuff. First off, I found "The Complete Phantom of the Opera" book, a little hacked I admit, for $9. Then the double disk London Cast CD which you have already been blasted at about for $9 as well, and just as we were leaving, I found (OMFG!!!) an official T-shirt of the Robert Englund Phantom movie for (can you guess by now?) $9!!!! (It also has him on the back with his fedora half down looking all scary/sexy! SQUUEEEE!)

Other Phantom-related stuff that I saw but didn't buy was the Lon Chaney action figure (for $12), a SEALED edition of the original London cast record for $25, another t-shirt (of which I already own the sweater version) and a Michael Crawford record(!). How wierd is that?

So, again, if any of you own that CD, please PLEASE tell me if yours is the same - 'cause if it isn't, I will have to buy a newer edition. T__T I'll probably end up buying the full movie cast version anyway, just so then I can hear what song I wish to hear at a given time....Okay, I'll stop ranting now, I promise.

OH! Two weeks ago I bought the Kopit musical version of "Phantom"! Has anyone else heard it or own it? It is so great. (I've even drawn some stuff based on it that shall be posted soon ) The story is a little altered, but the music is lovely, if not a little more Parisian at times. For the majority of my phiends here on DA (seeing as how you all share simmilar views on how the story SHOULD HAVE ended ^^) this version somewhat appeases this: (thinks about a certain conversation with ^_____^ ) Raoul (or, rather, Phillip as he is called in this version) is barely in it, and there's no 'childhood romance' thingy going on - they only meet on the street at the beginning of the musical. (Yesh!) Secondly, it really focuses on the love between Christine and Erik (yes, he has a name in this one! What a novel idea! >__> *glares at Andrew*), noting that Christine sings to Erik that he "is music, and life to me" as well as a entire song entitled "My True Love". The ending is particularly sad, though, for Erik dies in Christine's arms after his father shoots him because he does not want to get caught by the police and be put on display. There is also a gorgeous song where Erik cries after Christine sees his face for the first time. I believe Richard White (who plays our illustrious Phantom) is the perfect voice for Erik, in my opinion - melodious, sexy, and operatic all at the same time. Which scarred me this week while watching Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" was that he does the voice of Gaston! EWWW! But please keep in mind that his voice is slightly different for this Raoul-type character. This week was phantasmagorical in so many ways - I finnished LeRoux's novel (which made me cry at the end), and am currently half-way through Susan Kay's. All I have to say about hers is, "WOW". It is completely stunning. The amount of depth and detail it divulges is absolutely breath-taking. I also love the fact that she sort of 'hints' at the lyrics in Lloyd Weber's musical, while incorperating every Phantom interpretation into one 'complete' Erik. I love this book - if you can find yourselves a copy, GET IT IMMEDIATELY. I can't even find myself one! *sobs*. I'll have to make due with my library copy for now. Perhaps it shall go "missing"....I could always blame it on OG. ^^

Yes, as you may have realized, my latest (re-awakened) obsession is Phantom. I've loved the music since I was *gestures with hand* yea high. Music of the Night is by far my most favorite song, for it truly expresses what music does. Love for Erik, because he needs it. <33 Oh yeah, and if you didn't already figure out, the title of this entry is the title song for the musical. Somehow, even upon seeing the movie for the 3rd time, I've still managed to cry. That's when you KNOW for SURE that a musical/movie is awesome.

Well, I have some good stuff to write, and some bad....

Bad : I had Harmony 4 today; my very first Harmony lesson in two years. And....no Maddie. All silent people that stared at me when I attempted a joke. They didn't even find Liszt hot. I gelt like crying - honestly. It's such a horrible feeling to be so alone after spending a hillarious, emotastic year and a half together in the history courses. And now, just to know it'll never be the same again......


Good : I have the net. FINALLY. As well, I had an awesome piano lesson today. I'm also slowly getting over writers' block! Yay!!

Holy crappp. I saw the Phantom of the Opera - the best musical EVER. It was absolutely amazing. It's emotastic. I really loved the boat scene - candles pop up with dry ice and Christine and the Phantom sing the famous song....*sigh* It was great.

Oh, and (for those of you who've seen it) the opera within the musical where the chandelier falls is a complete spoof of Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro"! Even the song: "Poor fool he makes me laugh" has the same melodic progression as the Queen of the Night aria in "The Magic Flute". (Yes, I'm a music geek ^^)

Shortly after we arrived at our hotel (which was a half a block away from the theatre) we went for a walk. We saw a group of women mauling this guy for autographs, we kept walking and he walked beside me. Guess who it was? RAOULE!! Man, was he HOT. (Plus he was wearing a cloak in the show. <3 That earned him many points on the hotness-scale)

Me and my emotastic history friend have been writing a play about our friends, the composers. Oh yes, it rocks. I shall post it once it's done. I MISS YOU MADDIE!!! But I bet she's having an awesome time at World-Con. :tear:

BTW, I wrote my History 4 exam last Friday, so I'm completely free now. (It was on music history, so it wasn't all that bad to study for - one of the pieces I had to analyze was the Pathetique (op. 13) by Beethoven, which I play anyway)

The play actually began with the actor (who also WROTE the play) dancing to the 5th of Beethoven - as in, the disco song. .:Memories of Saturday Night Fever....AHhhh...:.

Summer is here! Hallelujah! Anywho....

I'm back! Thanks to the people who've just added me, I know I'm not around that much (especially in the period of the year that just passed) but I'll try to update soon. (In about a week or so)

My latest Anime obsession in Tsubasa; if anyone doesn't know what that is, it's the latest CLAMP creation crossing over CCS, Chobits, Magic Knights Rayearth, X, and others. Also, the sister series that tells the story from a different view point - HoLic XXx, which is also amazing. Check them out!

Y'know what is the greatest thing? Watching a movie, muting it, and putting completely opposite music in the bg. (Yes, I have no life) This was my boredom trip last night with Amadeus. DO IT. NOW. (especially the dance scenes.... )

Oh! I also got a 90% on my Music History exam. (Eeeevil amount of studying I did for that) And guess what? I'm writing ANOTHER ONE in August! ; ;

So, I shall cease my rambling, and shall write more soon.

Ahh, spring break is finally here! I can't believe that there's only like, two months of actual school-learning -ness left!
The weather outside is awesome. It's raining. (I'm a freak; I love the rain more than anything) It reminds me of Vienna. *sigh* But we can finally see some grass!
I love the movie Ever After. It's so great. It helped me overcome my art block, so look out for Elizabethian - style chars coming soon! Oh, and Shakespeare in Love. I always cry at the end. (Yes, a hopeless romantic)
This past week felt like it would never end. Thursday felt like a Friday because we did no work in school, and yesterday, well, all we did were watch plays from the drama class.

I had a question a couple days ago about art trades. Yes, they are open. (The same goes with requests).

Yes, famous words of Ludwig van Beethoven. I've been so obsessed lately.

Two months ago I was in Germany. Beautiful Germany. How I wish I was there now. Especially in Vienna. (Not in Germany, but close) I miss it everyday. But I'm glad I have all my great friends who understand.



Love them all.

I've been working very hard on a Beethoven fiction (with facts embedded of course!) for awhile now, and hope to start writing it soon. It'll be long, no doubt. I hope to put it on DA if enought ppl are interested.

Hey everyone! Did you miss me? lol I know, I haven't updated for like, what, TWO MONTHS!? But, I was in Germany over the break. Let me tell you a little 'bout that:
First we went to the little medieval town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It was gorgeous; they have all the little Christkindlmarkts (sp?) (Christmas markets) around, and we spent a day in Nurnberg/Nuremburg. We took the famous Nightwatchman tour in Rothenburg, and I bought a reeeaaallly funky purse there for like, 30 euro. After, we actually spent X-mas in Bavaria, and had a Mozart dinner in Salzburg.
The food they served there was all eighteenth-century dishes, and they had musicians IN CONSTUME performing Mozart's works. They also did opera - the baritone looked IDENTICAL to Orlando Bloom!! (I shall scan him this weekend...MWAHA!)
From there we went to Vienna, the city of music. This is my most favorite place in the entire world. In one day alone, (I was thinking so much of you ) we went to 4 Beethoven museums, including the ones in Heiligenstadt. In one of the museums (where he wrote his Heiligenstadter Testament) I actually got to PLAY on HIS piano! OMG, it was a Streicher. And it was amazing. (I have photographic evidence!) The feel and tonality of this 180+ yr old piano...was....magical, really. Then, one of the pidiments of my trip; on New Year's Eve, we went to see Beethoven's Ninth at the Vienna Concerthouse performed by the Vienna Philharmonic, and a 170+ member choir. It was absolutely breathtaking. The main tenor who sang also won a Grammy for a CD he put out! O.O The music was so powerfull. I teared when the choir reached the highest point in the piece. It was just so beautiful. On our final day there, we went to visit Beethoven's grave, where I left a rose. He's just the BEST.

So now, I did my exams, got them back, and am happy with the results. January was a crazy month, and because of the horrible jet-lag, I got up at 5:00 AM, and went to sleep at 8. How sad is that? But that's long been overwith. (It just made studying a little more difficult...@__@)

But, yet, I feel a longing to go back again. I think about Europe everyday, especially Vienna. It's just such a powerfull city. Everyone important in music lived there at some point in their lives, and their aura lives on.

Anyway, now I'm currently suffering from artist's block. Since the exams are over, I have time to draw. But what? If anyone has ideas, please help!

I missed you all. I hope to update soon. (THIS WEEKEND!) Oh, and I'm FINALLY getting a DVD player tonight! (To Myimmortalbeloved --> I bought the special edition DVD of our fave movie, without initially having a player... how sad is that? I'll tell you ASAP how good the interviews were! )

Hello from B.C.!!! So lovely here, although the Alps are nicer...Currently, I'm at a relative's and am waiting for a yummy lunch of HOTWINGS!!!
Driving was boring until we reached the edge of Alberta. The mountains rose up before us, welcoming us to the beauty and splendor of British Columbia. All the while I was listening to Beethoven's Ninth, which definitely added to our grand entry.

Hello! Sorry for such a long duration for updating. Since school is basically over, I haven't gotten the oppurtunity to update. (I don't have the net at home and the library's internet connection was screwy this week.)
Anyway, I went to this HUGE Harry Potter thing at the local bookstore at midnight...OMG, there must have been at least 3000 people! So, my mom turned around and we went to Mc Donald's instead, only to see this guy walking through the drivethru! He was so funny; he pretended to talk on his cellphone and everything. It waz great. Maybe it was sacrificing the chance to get the HP book on the night it came out...*oohh...*

Hello! Sorry for such a long duration for updating. Since school is basically over, I haven't gotten the oppurtunity to update. (I don't have the net at home and the library's internet connection was screwy this week.)
Anyway, I went to this HUGE Harry Potter thing at the local bookstore at midnight...OMG, there must have been at least 3000 people! So, my mom turned around and we went to Mc Donald's instead, only to see this guy walking through the drivethru! He was so funny; he pretended to talk on his cellphone and everything. It waz great. Maybe it was sacrificing the chance to get the HP book on the night it came out...*oohh...*

OMG, I have TOO much stuff to do! *Pulls out all her hair* Piano is crazy, but it's slowly coming to a close. In the summertime, I get to learn a big Gr. 10 Beethoven Concerto! (Is genuinely happy)

At least I'm secure with exemptions at school, so long as my durn teacher doesn't totally screw me with a huge math unit test. We barely started this unit! It's only been ONE week!!!
