As you know, this place hasn't been active for just a fraction more than 2 years now, and I just wanted to give this group and its watchers a VERY belated heads-up - it is time to say die.

To this group, I mean. This place is an empty shell and several people who were once part of this club, including our once leader, no longer even have Megas art on their own galleries. Not that I fault any of them; sometimes you just have to move on and I myself had fallen away from this fandom, too. But much like Christmas in Whoville, whether we were a part of it or not, whether it was still on the air or not, Megas love still lives in the hearts of many new and old fans alike.

I find it heart warming and inspiring that there are still fan artists out there for this little show. Makes me want to get back into it myself, as I feel that at this juncture of my artistry, I have become too scattered and varied in what I produce. But enough about me.

Many of you I'm sure have moved on either entirely or just to other groups. Which brings me to my next point. For those of you who are still in love with Megas, or wish to recapture the magic, I urge you to migrate over to Grimphantom's group ~Megas-XLR-Club if you haven't already. That place sees way more action and I tip my hat to his work and dedication. I remember back when he first showed up on the scene... and now, thanks to Grim there are artists scattered all over the dA community, from all walks of genres, who proudly display Kiva images for him. You sir, are awesome.


So, for the TL;DR crowd - This group is OFFICIALLY dead (obviously), please unwatch, and if you crave Megas, check out ~Megas-XLR-Club.



Some nuggets of interest:

~Cartoon Network is going to be releasing their answer to Kingdom Hearts possibly some time this fall. It is called Fusion Fall, and is an MMORPG (Think World of Warcraft). The story goes that there is a force that goes around consuming worlds and the next target on the menu is earth. You move about the CN universe, meeting and befriending your favorite characters - Dexter, C:CND, PPG, Ben10, EE&E, Foster's, etc. Megas makes a cameo (it gets attacked by an alien thingie and you may have to help it) but I don't know if you can then hang with our beloved XLR friends. You can check out the website here: [link] There is an option to sign up as a beta tester, but if this game is supposed to come out this fall, they may not need help. I signed up anyway.

~For those of you who have never heard of the Megas Livejournal, They have a link there, now here: [link] where you can download production music from Megas through Megaupload. It isn't a complete soundtrack exactly, but it has quite a selection and all labeled by notable 'appearances' in the show. Also includes an extended version of the theme.

"It’s a show that for some reason couldn’t find its voice on Cartoon Network, so we’re hoping it will find a home on Jetstream. There are many of us over here who loved Megas and couldn’t figure out why it didn’t work."


Jody has this to say about the release:
"As far as the show being dead, it is dead...for now. Depending on how it does on Toonami Jetstream and the like, they've said they'll consider some more eps. We'll see..."

theguycalledwingus asks: WHY did Megas get cancelled? Is there any chance of it coming back?

Simple: CN just wanted to move on. Our ratings were good and consistent, but they felt two seasons was enough. Can't say I'm not disappointed, but I'm still friends with them. It's cool. No chance of it coming back, at least in the immediate future, I'm afraid.

SelanPike asks: Now that Megas is (unfortunately) cancelled, do you have plans for any new projects that we might see in the near future?

Me and several of my friends are working on other projects. Nothing concrete as of yet, although Chris Prynoski has something in the works at Nickelodeon. I'll keep ya posted when something definite happens

wordongear asks: What's coop's height and weight?
He's 6'6", and although we never really nailed down his weight it's safe to assume he weighs in at over 300 pounds.


MonkeyWithGuns asks: A possible movie was mentioned in which Coop would defeat the Glorft. What else was planned for MEGAS's future? Like in the shadow universe Coop was in, does Kiva actually start dating... Jamie??

We only worked out Megas' storyline as far as Coop returning to the future and defeating the Glorft, and even that wasn't fully sussed out. For the record, we never intended for anyone in the Megas universe to date anyone, although some speculative romances did cross our minds, such as Alternate Dimension Jamie and Kiva, and Coop's mom and Gorrath. Seriously

MEGAS was a fantastic, fun show, but now that it's been cancelled, have you ever thought of translating it into another medium, such as comic books?

There was talk of a manga in the beginning, but we never went anywhere with it. Too busy producing the show itself. We'd still love to see it happen.


Madi asks: How old are Jamie, Coop, Kiva and Goat?

Coop and Jamie are both early 20's. Kiva's a few years older (maybe 26), and Goat's in his mid 30's.

Will the comic series discontinue as well/has it already been discontinued?
There's a comic series?

Will you continue to work on a similar project, or other projects in comic or animation?

I'd love to. It beats getting real work

Evil Sandwich asks: Since we've already seen Goat in both Megas XLR

Well, I know it's been a while, but we're getting things back on track here in the land of MXLR!

For starters, has stepped down from her position as Vice Supreme Overlord, and a new one has been assigned -- has stepped up to the plate and has been a big help so far! Yay, Calico-chan~!

We have a new policy -- from this point on, art will not be accepted into the club. All current art not relating to contests or DevIDs is being deleted slowly. So please, do not note us with your art ^^ Instead, you are urged to note ! ~megas-art is a new account, set up by =musachan, to fave every piece of Megas art there is! She's already gone through a few galleries and faved everything she could find, but she wants more! So note ~megas-art with links to all your Megas art, stories, etc.! ^__^ This way, all the original artists get the faves and comments they deserve! Not to mention that it serves as a totally rad way to collectively group all MXLR related art and stories.

Things will be cleaning up around here, more contests, etc. It should start getting pretty rad around here once more!

So ... you want to join Megas-XLR, huh? Well, to do that, you have to note the club, but first ... there's a few simple rules you gotta follow!

Number One -- You have to like Megas XLR. But if you didn't, why would you be here?

Number Two -- Please be aware that we are not a general Megas XLR fangroup -- this IS a group for fanartists. While you don't have to have any art to join, in order to be qualified as an 'actve member' you must submit art. Fanfictions will not qualify as an active member, and we do not host fanfiction here in the group.

Number Three -- All opinions and points of view are welcome, but certain conttroversial issues shall generally be avoided. Any imaged deemed too sexual, too graphic, or simply in poor taste will not be uploaded into the group. If ~musachan says it's inappropriate, then it's inappropriate.

Number Four -- Any member found harrassing another member shall be removed from the club without warning. No exceptions.

Number Five -- Megas-XLR is not a person, it is a gallery of Megas art by a variety of artists. Because of this, we have disabled comments on images, and tell you outright not to fave them. Any member found faving art here will be warned.

Number Six -- The group doesn't watch any of its members (it used to, though). This is because non-Megas art was flooding the message box. So please, if you have new Megas art to submit to the group, note us! And be polite about it ^^

Number Seven, the golden rule -- As a member of the club, you are required to host the icon in your journal (you may also put the club's link in your signature, but the icon in the journal is a REQUIREMENT). Don't know how? Here ...

MEGAS COSPLAY

That's right, kids! An idea that, yeah, it's been used, but is SO much fun that we're gonna do it anyway! MEGAS COSPLAY!

The contest starts TODAY, January 3, 2005. The contest shall end February 10, 2005. That gives you about 5 weeks to do this. Entries WILL NOT be accepted after the midnight deadline!

The Low-Down (hehee, get it?)

For this contest, you shall be required to draw any character from Megas XLR (or group of characters) as characters from another series.

Please note -- you are not limited to television shows. You can draw the characters depicting things from movies, anime, comic strips, comic books, etc. Whatever you desire ^_^

Rules

1. Nothing too sexual. The basic rules of DA apply. We'd also like to avoid nudes, if ya can ^^
2. No photo-manips. Exceptions may be made depending on the circumstances, but really, I would try it.
3. When using movies, please do not depict a scene that spoils the movie ... only because I may not have seen it yet *coughs*
4. Get your entries in by February 10!

INNIT!!), Coop got lifted over a crowd, the Glorft were human (OHEMGEE XD), and Jamie ... um ... Jamie was there, and that AUTOMATICALLY made the eppie cool. Oh, and it finally touched on a subject taht's been bugging the crap outta me XD *snerk* Great eppie, if you didn't see it, MAKE SURE YOU WATCH IT NEXT WEEK for it ruled [/fangirl-mode]

The general opinion is that we should continue what we're doing. The strongest points were ...

AGAINST: thumb-nails are easier because people are more likely to look at them; if we don't want comments, we can turn them off; it's working fine the way it is; there's no size limit to the gallery

However ...

FOR: the less cluttered the group, the nicer it will look; it gives more priority to contest images rather than everyday fanart; new art will still be uploaded, it will just be deleted after a three month period and then archived -- it's not like there won't be any art at all; the supreme overlord still has dial-up ... yeah freakin' DIAL-UP

So ... both sides of the issue have been discussed, and the main points have been observed. It comes down to * Spleef, ~JSpengs and myself about the decisions. Further discussion may occur if you feel you have a counterpoint or a new point either for or against either side.

Okay, just as an idea ...

We clean out the Art Archives and, in their place, have a special journal entry linking all your Megas art? New art will still show, but at the end of every quarter they will be deleted, starting December 30, 2004. The journal entry will be divided into quarters and artists, depending on when you uploaded the images -- scraps can be included.

Please reply, members and non-members!

Well, another new episode has come and gone ...hehe ^^ Anyway, we have a new member, ~SelanPike! Yay! ^__^ I also have some art to upload tonight, but I'm at school and can't right now =3 Dun worry, I SWEAR it'll get done tonight!

ANYWAY ... I have a small announcement ^_^ You may or may not have seen my desperate plea/comment down below, but I, your supreme overlord, am making a small Megas XLR fansite. Nothing too fancy -- just a place for episode guides, character bios, etc. ... something to introduce people to Megas, basically. If anyone can remember the URL of that site with those Megas screencapes (it was an angelfire site, I think), I ask that you leve a comment here I just want some caps to make icons and things, nothing major. If you come by it in any of your travels, tell us! =3

On another note, I have put up two fanlistings for Megas recently! I actually applied (and was approved for) the listings for Kiva, Coop and Jamie, but I lost the Jamie list due to complications (working to get it back XD) ... but the Kiva list and Coop list are up!

*waves* Hullo, I'm Musachan, your Supreme Overlord. I like the phrase 'Supreme Overlord' rather than 'founder', only because it sounds cooler and far more threatening, and therefore cooler.

I love Megas XLR to death! The characters, the design, the sharp wit and blunt humor ... everything about this show rocks my socks! I'd have to say that Kiva is my favorite character, which is weird, I suppose. Most people love Jamie most ...but, I like Kiva ^_^

But other than that I ADORE Megas. It's probably one of my greatest obsessions of all time. And I'm sure it's safe to say that I'm an extreme die-hard fan of it. But when I first saw it, it was when it first premired and I caught the middle of it. And when I saw the back of Kiva's head I blurted out "OH COOL!!!! IT'S A MATRIX SHOW!!!!! " But then I found out that it wasn't the Matrix after watching robots beat the crap out of each other (more like "THERE'S NO GIANT ROBOTS IN MATRIX!!!" ) Anyways, this is getting too long XD But bow down to the Vice Supreme Overlord *cackles*

Hi, I'm Katie, and I'll be your News Slave for this evening. I will do my best to bring you all the Megas XLR info you've been crawling the walls for.

Anyway, I first got hooked on Megas when my boyfriend came home, saying people at the arcade he works at kept telling him he looked a lot like Coop. Naturally he's my fave character. I like the sight gags and cameos, the omg moments, and that it can be silly without being downright stupid. Long live the Average Joe anti-hero.
