Why can't I write AND draw? Why is it that when I start writing, the gift of drawing deserts me, and vice versa?

Anyway, I haven't posted any pics for so long because, basically, I haven't drawn any. My artistic ability simply walked out the door one day and didn't even leave a forwarding address.

Well, after several years out of the fandom I'm writing a Legend of Zelda fanfiction. Frankly I'm amazed at how things have changed since I was a Zelda fan. And I don't mean they've changed in a good way. Are most modern fanfiction authors simply illiterate? FanFiction.Net used to be a great resource... now it just gives me stabbity urges.

I'm sure nobody ever reads this thing anyway, so I'll talk to myself for a while about my Zelda fanfiction. I think it's good, but I'd imagine the peons on FFN will disagree if I ever get to the stage of uploading it. It's a bit too original for mainstream fandom... kinda like Redux. Now there's a fic that got the cold shoulder. *sighs* Oh well. If I wanted popularity I should probably be writing stories about Link and Ganondorf having sex. I mean, that's a common pairing on FFN. This, after all, is a site with Snape/Sorting Hat porn.

I wish to God I was making that up.

It's been a long while since I made any entry in this thing - the main news is that I have a Side7. There's nothing there that isn't here yet so I won't bother linking to it.
I'm drawing a comic. It's an adaptation of my fanfic, Redux. It's drawn and painted entirely in Adobe Photoshop with a Wacom tablet, and the three pages I've got so far look rather nice. I'm still learning how to use the Wacom. I haven't had much time to do art this summer, what with the job and all, so that's why I don't have much to show.

Shout-out to all the lovely people who've commented on my gallery since I arrived on deviantART. I don't deserve the attention! I know I don't comment enough, and I'm going to work on that in future.
The biggest news art-wise is, my scanner's broken. So, rather than quit drawing, or build up a huge stack of stuff to be scanned at some indefinite future date, I'm teaching myself to paint digitally. So far the results (Scorpion vs. Quan Chi and Rain on South Island) have been very encouraging. Heh, I always was better with a computer than a pencil. Redux, the story of an artificial intelligence created a hundred years in the future of the Sonicverse,

The Diary of Dr. Eggman, in which Ivo Robotnik finds true love (well, nearly)
The food's good though, in Spain, and I got a shitload of presents from my mother as it was my 21st birthday. In order: a pair of red Adidas sneakers with white stripes, the Adidas not being nearly as important as the fact that they're RED WITH WHITE STRIPES EEEE! (Sonic sneakers). A portable CD player. Five CDs (they're cheap as hell in Andorra - no tax). Sonic Shuffle (not available where I live, but shipped to Andorra - go figure). And a fridge. Er, yeah. Elfwood is down. Again. Not that I'm trying to update my Elfwood acc - I lost the password, then I forgot my username, and now I can't even remember what gallery I was in, so... meh. But I like using the Random feature, and now I can't. How often are they down, eh?

I'm getting very intolerant in my old age (nearly 21, yeah, I know that's like, ancient, for all you Sonic fans out there). Someone emailed me recently - and I flamed her out. She called me Meta-chan, made "chaa" noises, put in anime-kitty-smileys on more than one occasion, and - horror of horrors - used the word "kawaii". I HATE THAT. HATEHATEHATEHATEHATE. Arg. Grr. Gah. Fangirls. I don't hate Japanese people, and I don't hate anime fans, and I don't even hate people who occasionally call each other -chan. What I hate is people who type like anime characters talk only of course even anime characters don't actually talk like that so what they're actually doing is typing like they think anime characters talk... and I hate it.
It's all for art. Seriously. Old travel guides which would be useless to anyone else can contain some really good photos, and even if you have one of those wooden mannequins, they're not that flexible. An action figure can be pulled into all sorts of strange or distorted positions. If you don't have a willing real live model (and let's face it, how many people do?), then it's definitely worth considering kidnapping your little brother's Action Man. Just make sure the limbs are jointed, as a lot of newer toys seem to come with their arms and legs moulded and inflexible.

OK, so a few months back I bought a Wacom tablet, right? And I was really stoked. I thought, "hey, this is gonna let me draw on the computer! It's gonna revolutionise the way I draw!" Well, anyone who talks with me regularly on AIM or whatever will know that I've been cursing this tablet, calling it a cheap piece of crap because Photoshop doesn't recognize it, it's not pressure sensitive, it only works on my Apple iBook, I can't do anything with it... etc...

Well, I found out today that I never installed the drivers on this computer. As far as my poor computer knew, my tablet was just a mouse, and my computer was utterly perplexed by the streams of invective issuing regularly from my mouth.

I always thought I was a pretty tech-savvy person, particularly considering that I'm doing an English degree and most English students wouldn't know a SCSI card if it bit them in the unmentionables. (Most English lecturers can't work the overhead projector). Sadly, this revelation has destroyed my faith in my personal geekdom and computer competence.

I am indeed just another stupid arts student.Sonic V - [link]

Metara has run out of MP. I'm gonna kick back and relax for a bit to let my artistic abilities regenerate after my recent Black Mage esque art storm

Today is my third day as a deviantART member. Wow. I'm a total convert. After experiencing this place, Elfwood can go hang! Thanks to everybody who commented on my art so far, because it really means a lot to me that there are people out there who've seen it!

I need to figure out how to submit wallpapers, and whether it's allowed to submit a wallpaper with Sonic on it...

I've been on an artistic bender for the past week, and I'm feeling absolutely exhausted. And I've got a headache from doing all that snow on the latest picture. I'm overjoyed with how it's turned out... best thing I've done so far, imo.
Man, this site is kinda hard to use... wait, I think I figured it out. I'm new here if you didn't guess - please check out my Sonic fan art. I haven't been drawing very long so there's probably a lot of room for improvement!
Well, I have been on Elfwood and MediaMiner, and now I'm on here too. I think I like deviantART already. Sonic V - [link]
