So I recieved a 1960's 35 mm Canon camera from one of my cusomers who appreciated my photographs at work. And that's my new project, figuring out how to make myself the best photographer I can be, from scratch. He gave me two filters and a lens as well. It's so nice to recieved unsolicited gifts!

Recent pictures are still stuck in my camera RAW setting. Got ONE to transfer to my computer, the rest... still stuck. Thank you Alwin for your help. That method is the only one that works, but only one picture at a time.

For the month of April some of my pictures are spending time on the wall in the coffee shop where I work. So far there are three hung up and three more to come. These are the three currently on display, and I must say they look beautiful in print which is a form I rarely see them in. "Blue" and "Sorrow" are 14x11 matted and framed and "Partially Visiable" is 16x20 framed and quite lovely so large.

I submitted some of my photographs to a local picture contest.

Unfortunatly the priniting of the pictues didn't turn out so well and they are not actually a very good example of my photography and for that I am disappointed. I used an instant print photo machine instead of professional printing. Never again... But I'm also excited because this is the first time people, besides you guys get to see my work.

It's taking me a while to get back to all of them and say THANK YOU!
I'm making progress getting my pictures out there and viewed and I am humbled and slightly embarrassed by it all at most times.
Can't say how much I love deviantArt.
And how flattered I am.
This makes me want to work that much harder.



But also I love the positive! I've had to stop watching people because each and every journal is so painfully negative I can't take it. So thank you so much to those of you that are most supportive and ALWAYS positive:

I guess my journal today is just a reminder that what you put into the universe is like a beacon; what you expect is what you get, time and time again, so it's best to just go ahead and think positively.

I have been seeing so many wonderful new photographs! I'm sorry I have not been getting around to commenting as often as I'd like.

I am a little overwhelmed by my new job at the moment.
So... I miss taking photographs.
Mostly I miss sleeping.

Still, I am grateful for the job.

I'm having a lot of fun with our new puppy, Penny Boots.

And reading Harry Potter. But also avoiding the internet because of Harry Potter. I am not wanting the ending to be ruined for me.

Wondering where my good friend could be?

And also feeling very bad because yesterday I drop kicked a volley ball and it smacked right into the face of my darling 2 year old, knocking her backward onto her bottom, she caught some air before she landed. This morning she is slightly bruised and scratched on her forehead. And I am feeling very very very sorry.

my succulent that blooms hoya flowers is blooming again. this time i've asked my new friend and neighbor if i can borrow her camera to photograph them. i am very excited and can't wait for the buds to open. because they are such small flowers i am going to experiment with a macro lens. that should be later on in the week.

Well, I'm back now, things are mostly in order.

Posted a turtle photo.

It's flooding down in Texas. Are we making the national news?? The "lake" that I live by is in actuality a damned up portion of the Colorado River. About 10 miles from my new house people have been voluntarily evacuated. We live on a hill, only 2 miles away from Lake Travis. It's amazing to drive over the dam right now, there are 4 flood gates open and the lake is 4 feet above normal, a small road just down stream from the dam is no longer visible. When I drive down to the back of the neighborhood there are trees underwater. They say it's supposed to go on for another NINE days. Funny enough, it's been pretty sunny. But we are in the hill country and when it rains out west it all flows down hill and toward the river. Makes one appreciate the power of nature. If I can get down there I might go photograph the dam. It's amazing to see the power of the water coming through the gates. Awesome and scary.

Maybe some more pictures later, I'm hoping to get the turtle in the grass where he looks best instead of the rocks by his little burrow, where he blends in.

Earlier this week a butterfly came by to visit me on my porch. She was so big and so beautiful that I could not stop shaking enough to get a good photograph! That was a bit disappointing, but not enough to affect the experience. I can only say it was like magic. She must have been drawn here by the wonderful smell of my lemon tree blossoms. For no less that 10 minutes she fluttered around and I believe she left eggs on my plant. I haven't yet decided if I'll remove the eggs or not. It was definitely the largest butterfly I have ever seen, she was as big as my hand. That being said, I did capture her with my digital video camera. I'll see what I can do with that video when I get the time.

Also today, sitting on my porch, I witnessed a motor crash. It was loud and scary, bits of cars flying off, one car actually spinning around. I called the ems and I think, I really hope, everyone was actually just fine.

So I leave you now with the thought:
You will always attract what you put out into the Universe,
and don't forget to count your blessings as such.

1.I'm imagining new pics with a primary color scheme:
red, blue, yellow

2.And a secondary color scheme:
purple, orange, green

And maybe some complementary colors:
3.purple and yellow
4.red and green
5.blue and orange


And, of course, lots of flowers

We'll see how it all turns out...

and i am grateful, appreciative, happy.
what i don't have is anything negative.
about my pictures.
for example: bad lighting, grainy, over exposed, boring, blurry, the flowers are tedious etc.
(these are obviously my own criticisms of myself)
it'd be nice if people,
in a nice way,
would tell me what they think
as far as what i could do better that is.
and also
i have a lot of questions
and don't know who to ask

so...
this kinda stuff is what i'm going to be looking for in the near future.

and i've got some sunflowers to photograph

should be done in the next day
