And, we're back! It has been a mighty while since I have updated the journal properly... let alone submitted anything. As ~icysweetness has told you all; we're finally free!

Free from all the exams, that is. Now it's gotten down to 2 more weeks of Year 11... and then the Holidays.. then we all become the scary group of 'adults' in the school with our jerseys and our casual stride about the school.. That's right. We'll be in Year 12!! Arrgh!

..maybe stripping isn't quite the best emote right now.. haha

Although! It's summer soon! Which means we can chill/die in the intense heat. And hopefully that means I can be forced out of the house and take some photos, rather than hibernate in the house.

I'm so sorry i've neglected the journal for ages. I've been doing many things since last blog, so i'll let you all know on the goss...

First and foremost, it was ~smilefatlady's birthday on Wednesday!! ! Happy Birthday babe, hope you had an ok day

We've also had our annual camp, which was three days in the beginning of this week. Year 11 wandered up to Port Stephens, and we could all choose different activities to do for three days. I chose Scuba diving, which ~smilefatlady would've done with me, but unfortunately she couldn't . So in general, scuba was crap.


But beautiful! Underwater was amazing and stuff, but i'll have to poke other people for some photos to show you all. Also, we got our Open Water Dive certificate so we can dive up to 30m with this 'licence'. Cool, no?

In other news, there's been work. So much work. I need to get organised. :/ if anyone has study tips, I'm all ears!!

And it's our easter break soon! Yay. How's everyone been going?

I promise to update some new artsy stuff soon. I do. I do I do I do.

I said i'd update and continue telling you all about Italy and everything, but since school started i haven't had the time. =/ So Shad and Stefano, I KNOW I should 'make time' as such, but with things like starting school at 7 and finishing at 7:30 and getting home at 9 and having assessments the next day...

However, I'll submit it as a lit thing later Don't worry, I don't forget amazing experiences that easy, so there'll be a long-ish thing submitted. Maybe not in the recent future, but definitely before school holidays. (That is, April, my dear friends. ONLY 3 MONTHS TO GO....)

Besides that, School Started. (yes capitals, because it seems like an official event rather than a simple phrase ) Year 11 seems to be going well, but with only 2 days per fortnight that we don't have masses of Maths homework.. I would like some rest already!! (and we've only had school for two weeks.) Lets see.. we've got... physics to do.. Economics to decipher, and english to read on top.

And i haven't exercised in weeks, so I'm going to the local RSL to swim .

In other exciting news, MY HOST SISTER IS COMING TO SYDNEY IN DECEMBER!!!!!!! I miss her like hell already, so it's nice to have something to countdown to hahaa. All you sydney peeps better be here so we can go out for NYE

And Gilmore did not come last. Hell, yeah.

So you know I'm not in my sunny home. Well, it should be sunny since it's summer, but i don't know, the weather could be crap. I'm in Italy, and perhaps I've stolen the weather with me because there hasn't been a horible day thus far...touchwood.

For those who don't know me so well, I'm on my silly little adventure on an exchange program to Italy, despite knowing 3 words of Italian to begin with. I'm hosted in Marche, which is one of the middle-italian regions. It is beautiful, but bellissima doesn't really quite cut it, so i guess i'll have to keep taking photos. My photos are crap, by the way guys- but I win in quantity - I think there's over 1000 so far... but not all of them are of course for you to see . Hhahahaha tease..

Hmm. So I've been here about a month, and I think its fair enough for me to say that I've fallen in love with it. Quite literally. There is so much beautiful history..culture...music..philosophy...food...people.. Every aspect of everyday life is truly beautiful. And Italy must be the most photogenic country I've ever visited, and I've visited alot, which is starting to say something.

Haha, 2 paragraphs and I've only just started to say something. Sucks to be you!!
But so far we've vistied many churches, archeological sites and museums - buildings dating back BEFORE Jesus Christ, family traditions...

If it wasn't for the fact that I had friends in sydney, and that I wasn't very good in Italian, I would protest to my host family to let me stay for a while longer. A while... eternity, perhaps. My stomach would love that. My arteries wouldn't. So much oil and salt....

And garlic and pomoDORO. (haha, Stefano I accidentally said ' io vorrei pomorana..' and they laughed )
Anyways, I just want to say Buon Natale and Felice Anno Nuovo if your postcards haven't arrived already. Merry Christmas all! I truely do miss you all, and I think about you alot All of you

I'm leaving for italy today. Thats, the 29th November. I'll arrive on the 30th, and spend 6 weeks there. I'll be back on the 9th of January.

+UPDATE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The people of Italy are beautiful, the place is beautiful with rolling hills and sceneries to die for. The perfect artists mix of Autumn leaves and crisp mountain outlines. The smell of tomatoes and Garlic all the time - bellissimo! I have not felt hungry once so far! The ancient ruins are everywhere - not just your typical places like the collossium. They're everywhere - the town centre was once a medieval town and it has a large brick wall surrounding it to protect its people. The Church dates back a thousand years. The tradition is beautiful.

And the people like Tim Tams

YAY!

So i'm back. But I should probably ... start from the beginning?

We left on Sunday at 12, ready for our week away at the rural town. Little did we know that the four hour train trip could be... SO MUCH FUN! ~rinoahsan and I pretty much played 'I Spy' the ENTIRE time, with a few bathroom breaks here and there and buying some knick-knacks from the buffet. Highlights of the game were..

- me trying to guess 'Tar'. That was intense! Went for about 10 minutes.
- San trying to guess 'Feet'. It was important that she got 'feet' not 'foot', because thats just wrong
- San spilling her Ginger Beer all over herself, wetting her pants etc.. oh, Well thats not that unusual

We got to our caravan park, which was right next to the local swimming pool and river, and nestled up in our rooms. Bunk rooms + bugs = excitement. The night ended with a few screams over small spiders, and a lovely sploshy bolognese pasta.

The next 4 days (Mon~Thurs) were filled with primary school excitement. While we were primarily over there to help with the school's "intensive swimming program", we also helped out in the normal classrooms as well. This school was a very special school, with 62 students total from K-6, and serving as only one of the two schools in the district. The children were ALL amazing, but props have to go to years 4-6 who were undoubtedly the coolest.

Oh, I should point out here that the school only has 3 teachers, and thus only 3 classrooms (K-1 class, 2-3 class and 4-6 class). But the kids were amazing still, and seemed to really enjoy our company.

even though the week is over, I think everyone misses the kids in their own special way. Especially ~rinoahsan probably misses her newfound Y5 hubby "Jay", who she's fallen in love with at first sight. Maybe she could be his 29th girlfriend?

Oh, the kids also liked sunnies. BIG sunnies.

On another note, i'm leaving for Italy for 6 weeks on Thursday!! =/ Oh dear oh dear...

Hmmm. Back in business. Icy and I were out on Duke of Ed. Silver expedition for a while with some other school friends, and we had a great time. For those who don't know what DOE is, [link]uke+of+Edinburgh+Award

We canoed 15k's the first day, and hiked 10k's the next. And another 5ks to top it all off on the last day. Which comes to a lovely round figure of 30ks in 3 days. Excellent....

It wasn't that bad though, since Tom (one of the boys) brought their iPod and were exceedingly fascinating with their ... singing.

So there's 2 more weeks until holidays. That is, 3 more weeks until Duke Of Ed....oh yay. But that means i'll finish my Silver! Mmm. So anyways. Now that the exams are over, what are we gonna do? I suppose after the few weeks of dreading to get the results back....

Way to start off a term.
It hasn't even been a week, and I'm already hoping it was the holidays again. I suppose its all those essays and assignments and tests we've got that we should have done during the holidays, but alas procrastination worked its way through.

My dad's coming home tomorrow.

It's also the school's birthday tomorrow, so lessons will be 50 mins instead of 80. But we've got that long assembly. =/

We also have to decide what we want to do with our lives by next Wednesday. No no, i'm exagerating. But we've got subject selection forms due by then, and I can't decide. Pretty much gonna be like "F*** it, I'll do it anyway". And regret it later. But oh WELL. I DONT CARE ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!

Our head prefect isn't blonde this year.

That's weird. She usually is; maybe this one will die her hair for us so we can feel all normal again. She's a really nice girl though

So yes. That's about it, really. Another busy term gone so quickly!!

AND! Natalia, Alex, Andrea and Juliana are LEAVING . Thank you guys so much for making photography so much fun; we'll miss you! (Yes ANZAC slices are cool ) To replace them, German girls are coming next term. Yay!

Mm. Well.

Next Week:
- I have work experience! You might know, but I had to change last minute from a place I wanted to go to (Video Editing Studio), to my mum's beautician. Why? Because mum wouldn't let me go down to the place of my choice; "too dodgy", she'd say. And not that I have anything against Beauticians.....but I do. Boooriiinnnggg. At least I get Monday off. (Hope that "Roz" doesn't call up on monday... )

Mmm. So that'll be work experience. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday on the train, down to the city, then back. ...At least its not school - I can finally catch up on work I've skipped. Yay!!

Ah, about work. This term is going bad. I might even have to resort to some drastic last-minute plan if SHE ever touches me again. AARH! But apart from her, its okay. Not too bad.

Week 7:
- Work Experience!

Week 8:
- Monday: PUBLIC HOLIDAY! God Save the Queen!
- JFK Essay Due. Shit. (20% Next semester report)
- 2 x CS Essaysprofiles due (20% Next semester report)

- Black Belt grading.

- English Media Journal Due (Lots of work, no %...I think)

For most of us, it means getting/giving silly chocolate easter bunnies, easter eggs and other forms of sweet confectionery. It also means, for everyone, a well deserved 3-4 day break from work or a whole 2.5 weeks for schoolins. Woo! Because we all feel the pain of work again. _{And i can't take the mental abuse of the year seven's presence much longer....Hopefully by next term I can be nicer, but for now, I still want to break their bones. (Yay Tiasha! ).}

Meanwhile, we also hear heaps about Jesus. Now without sounding too Christiany, i want to just explain to you what Easter means to people of the Christian faith..

Easter, for Christians, Catholics, Anglicans; whatever you want to call them, means that Jesus Christ had died on a cross, and three days later rose from the dead again. Jesus is such an important character for Christians because they believe that Jesus is God's one and only son, and that Jesus died on the cross so that God could forgive us of our sins and be able to go to heaven. ( read: 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, [link] or Matthew 27:32 - 28:20. [link] ) While there's lots of argument between Jewish people, Hindu people, Islamic people and Christians about whether or not Jesus was actually God's son, and if he actually rose for us (there are lots of conspiracies about this); its generally accepted Jesus is a pretty big figure in society.


So whilst I'm not going to push you into becoming a Christian, into believing about God and eternal life in him, I do want to urge you if you don't know about Jesus, about the true meaning of Easter. Now I've started you off with the basic bits, but other interesting facts are:


- The egg is a symbol of rebirth. Which is trying to be symbolic about Jesus' resurrection. Unfortunately, this has made little youngin's buy normal eggs and being disappointed when raw egg yolks runs down their shocked mouth. And then wanting a chicken for their birthday present because the chicken will lay magic chocolate eggs.....

- I personally have no idea about the bunny.

- or the 'cadbury tale' you see on tv. Thats just a TV ad, kiddies. Sorry to break it to you but no the easter bunny DID NOT save the world and store chocolate underground in caves so you can find them every year. Sorry. So please don't start digging up our front yard!

- Im sure you know that the cross on 'hot cross buns' is the symbol of the cross...


If you learnt something today, yay. Doesn't mean you have to believe it; it could just as well be possible that Mohammed the last prophet and messenger from God, and about the Day of Judgement to come in the future. You could also believe in Judaism, believing they you are a descendant of Abraham, who received a covenant from God around 4000 years ago. Or you could be Buddhist, following the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, who founded the religion in the 5th century BC. Or you could be Hindus largely worship at home and may venerate one of several gods, including Vishnu (the most prevalent choice) Shiva, Krishna and Rama. Brahma is the god of creation. Alternatively, you could be athiest, or another religion (I'm sorry I didn't list them all.). For more info, read [link] .



Basically, without lecturing too much, I just wanted you, whoever reads this entry, to understand what people are celebrating during Easter. So this is my challenge to you: find out what these religions are if you don't know. Find out how they live, what they believe. How some may contradict one another, or how they may support each others arguments. Learn from one another. Understand one another. Accept each other. Because if I can get you guys to try and understand one another, and tell me what you've learnt, I'd be over the moon. Because acceptance and understanding takes genuine effort. Movies, as you do. Seeing friends, as you do more. But surfing? Yes you heard right. Not that we've succeeded in the pro-surfing way, but we're up on the board .

I've also been instructed that I'm to take the boat license exam tomorrow. So I should probably start reading the handbook today.

Why would I love you if you would even listen to Masaki? Putting aside from the fact that my mother composes the songs when she finds the time from being a 'regular' housewife, I honestly find some of these pieces nice. I know that's my opinion, but what I really mean is, I want you to have an opinion on him too. Please check him out for me?

Back'g Info on Masaki:

He's your 'average' mid-30s guy whos always jumping up and down as if he's actually 16. He plays the violin, and to get some money to "get that mac!" he works as a professional violin teacher at schools and private lessons, as well as gigs when he has the time. But every school holidays, its like some magic spell is cast. He's no longer the "ohmigoshmyhairistoofrizzy" Australian bloke with the vegie patch, no. He becomes a zesty new kind of popstar. A violinist, in Japan, trying to spread the love of his violin with his music. He does concerts. When he gets back though, hes back to debts and invoices to take care of, and added stress of recording an album in 48 hours. Yes, I said 48 hours. No, I'm not kidding. And you know, he didn't practise this time, so he'll get upset about the turnout. But the old ladies who buy his CDs will love him anyway. So whats this guy donig? Trying to hit it "big"? No. Make money? No. Well, yes. But not for him. He sincerely wants to helps others. Don't we all? But in his special way. In his dreams he'll one day set up a music centre so that he might spread his love for music to others. And not just any music centre, one for the disabled. But it only stays a dream if you let it.

Which is why I've decided to take his music to a bigger audience. I know, I don't get THAT many hits. Sure. But if I can help his dream, maybe you could too. All I'm asking is a few minutes of your time to listen to him. I mean, to be honest, I don't care if you like him, hate him, hate the music, or adore it completely. Just please give it a chance?

Any comments to anything is never unappreciated.

---------------------- SO. ITS FINALLY THE HOLIDAYS. -----------------

Well, for some, anyway . And there's nearly eight weeks of bliss - where we do anything or nothing. Ahhhh. I can't wait to get to the beach......

So far, I've had two violin christmas concerts - one where you do lots and lots of group performances, and another where you play one peice, but all by yourself. So for the solo concert, I played.....er.......what's it called....._{Concerto in A Major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. But only the first movement.. and even that was seven minutes, but i played the cadenza as well.. .} ...Anyway, I won't even bother telling you about the group performances concert. It was just the usual suzuki stuff anyway apart from the long Brandenberg Concerto III _{(aka Brandenburgische Konzerte Concerto III G-dur by Johann Sebastian Bach BWV)}

....You can probably tell that I'm bored. Mmmmmm.

OMG i forgot. Next week, i'll be away (thats from the Tuesday 12 - Monday 18 perhaps?), because I'll be out at Lake macquarie with the family. So yes..don't miss me or anything. Hopefully I'll be back with a few photos that I might put up.

AND THEN. It will be CHRISTMAS . Have you bought your presents yet? Damn.... all my savings....bye bye...
