PS - My Canon S3IS has finally broken beyond repair; the long term affects of soda spilling on it caused the On/Off knob to stick and break off when I went to turn it on. Hopefully, I will be getting a new camera for my birthday in May.

I did get my film shots developed, though. WalMart fucked up the sizes so over half the prints are blown up larger than the paper. It's like having a 5.5 by 7 on a 4 by 6 sheet. Absolutely ridiculous! Do NOT get film developed at WalMart. (I discovered the problem by comparing the negatives with the prints, fyi.)

Now, I will fill you in on some stuff I've been keeping secret.

1) There is a bigger project, that I have not started working on yet, involving the "Images" Series. More details on that as I near its completion. (Photography and Painting?!)

2) The top 12 most popular images in the series will be made into a calendar (2009). Prints will be available of all the images, but not here on DA. More details regarding prints next week.

3)Each image has a specific title. The titles will be released mid-August. I may also be writing blogs, on my myspace, for each Image, explaining the concepts and such. These wouldn't start until mid-August.

4) The Wallpaper Images Series! I have a lot of leftover, good shots from the series. Some of these will be made available as Desktop Wallpapers/Backgrounds. The others will be split between my main gallery and scraps. Be looking for them in August as well.

5) Finally, I have another "series" in the works. I'm not sure about the overall idea; but, I am working on it.

*The "Images" series is part of a much bigger project that will be revealed over the summer. I won't directly reveal it so you will have to look for it.

*Also, each image in the series has it's own title. I'm not releasing the titles till the project is completed. Titles can change the way a person views the picture and that would defeat the purpose of this project. I want people to interpret them without any "help," for lack of a better word.

*"Images 6" was the first edited with Picasa2. Let me know what you think.

SO, the photo editor I was using was uninstalled along with my old printer. We got a new printer (which is awesome) but I lost my editing program because of it. This means that the "Images" series is going to change a bit. I downloaded Picasa2 (not sure how long I will be able to use it) but it does not have the same editing tools. The "Images" series will continue but you will notice a change in the pictures starting with Image 6.

"Images" - A series of pictures done in black and white only (not greyscale). These pictures will tell stories and ask the viewer to really dive into the photograph. There is no right or wrong way to interpret these photographs.

"Scenic" - A series of pictures capturing the beauty of nature during the summer.

My new youtube and video editing obsession helps fill the gap but I miss photography. I have many ideas that I would love to work on but I need a new camera. My 18th birthday is May 7th so I am hoping that I will be getting a new camera around then. Until then though, I plan on taking my broken camera out and seeing what happens. It is extremely difficult to work with but I will attempt to use it. Since my ideas are all "studio" shots, the camera will be less of a problem compared to if I was shooting nature or street shots. The camera has a mind of its own now (it turns off and on and takes pictures before or after it should) but if I am working in studio, its less of a problem, in this case.

With that said, you will possibly be seeing some new shots within the next 2 weeks.

Also, please forgive my lack of comments and such. My alerts got really backed up so I elected to clear them all. I was busy the past 3 days so I didn't have time to check them.

Hey everyone,

First, I'd like to thank all our new subscribers; thanks for subscribing! Also, thanks for all the comments and views.

Secondly, we are currently in the process of making t-shirts. I (Spicer) am designing some logos for Rusty Shopping Cart Productions. Once completed, they will be available on my spreadshirt account (link is located on my myspace page -> [link] ). I am making it so we get no profit from the t-shirts. This is just a fun little thing we are doing; we're not trying to make money or "get rich quick." Haha.

The videos this week may seem a little lackluster but I promise, in weeks to come, we have some great vlogs coming out. We recently filmed several prank calls that turned out great (100 times better than the AAA vid.).

Rusty Shopping Cart Productions has teamed up with another youtube group to do some vlogs too. More information about that will come at a later time (once we have some decent vlogs filmed).

Lastly, I wanted to address something so people aren't confused. In future vlogs you will hear us talk about past events (first day of Spring, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, etc.). The reason for this is that we film many vlogs at a time. In one day, we can literally film 4 - 6 vlogs. Since we normally only release 5 per week, most vids are posted 2 weeks after they are filmed. We apologize for this, because in some cases it will make a difference, but I need time for editing/rendering/uploading. The entire editing/uploading process for a 5 min. video can take up to 3 hours, if not more, in some cases. As of now, we have enough videos for the next 3 weeks, including this week, with 2 videos being posted on some days.

So, stay tuned for some great stuff; and keep requesting!!!

I wanted to give a little update about our YouTube vlogs.

Right now, we have 2 or 3 videos that are being edited (by me). Pat has come up with a name and logo for our little vlog team. The logo and new intro to videos should be up by the beginning of next week.

Part 2 of 2 is up. I had a lot of trouble uploading it, so it wasn’t posted till after midnight last night. It is a pretty funny video and the best so far. Another new video will be up sometime tomorrow; a short vlog with Pat, Rob, and myself.

I just finished priming the walls, trim, and doors today. The color that I picked out was a beige-ish color but now looks like a soft orange....which sucks. Hopefully, once I apply the actual paint over the tinted primer, it will look more beige than orange. My room should be done by the end of this week that way I can get back to my writing and such.

Singing:
I finally joined a rock band with serious, dedicated people. We practiced this past Saturday and it went well. Although I didn't get to sing, the instrumentals for a future song are awesome. Once we get a rough recording of the instrumentals, I can start writing lyrics for it. The band's future site is located here -> [link] (Note: The web address will be changed once we have a name. This page was originally for a metal band but they recently broke up and left us their page. Also, The New Project is not our name.)

In other singing related news, I want to start an acoustic band. I am looking for 1 or 2 guitarists (ages 16-23; male or female) that have been playing at least 2 years and can sing backup (singing backup is not required, just a plus). There are a few reasons behind starting this band. One, I am the only person in the other band that has never preformed. I have no experience and would like to get some. Secondly, I love acoustic/indie music. The other band is pure rock so we probably won't play much acoustic stuff. Third, my other band practices once a week and I won't be doing much singing for awhile. With a smaller group, I will be able to sing more and we will be able to move at a slightly faster pace. Message me if you are interested. You must be 100% dedicated.

Writing:
Basically, I have stopped work on all my stories and poems because I want to focus on my bands. The only things I will be writing in the near future are blogs and songs. I am going to start posting old and new songs on Deviant Art so keep an eye out for them.

Photographing:
It's killing me that I have not taken a picture in almost a month. Moving over to film is slow, and at the bottom of my list right now. I have to buy film (color and black & white) and special batteries for the Minolta OTsi Maxxum. Changing over to film also requires that I get a better printer/scanner so they won't look like shit when I scan them in. It would also be nice to have an editing program (Photoshop or Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo) so I'll have to by one of them too. Since I have no money, I can't purchase the supplies I need. Until I get a job (which could be soon), I won't be doing anymore photography.

I don't know if the Falcon takes 35mm, it looks like it does but, if that is the case, I am missing the part where the film wraps around.

So basically, I am planning on moving over to film (35mm).

It seems I forgot to post my "2008" blog on DA. I posted it on myspace and facebook, but not on here. Basically, the blog talked about the goals I had for this year involving writing and photography. Here is the list...

1) Take my 10,000th photo. I'm not counting but I would say I've taken about 5 - 6,000 at this point. 10,000 is a target because a famous photographer once said, something along the lines of, "Your first 10,000 pictures are your worst." It only gets better from here, right?
2) Write 30 new poems and 20 new songs. (I'll probably write more, it just depends)
3) Buy/Sell prints of some of my photographs.
4) Complete/ Publish my book, "And When It Breaks." (This is most unlikely, but I have to hope.)
5) Start my second book (planning, rough draft, etc.)

Now here is where I stand:
-My camera is broken and can't be fixed, so I can't take any new pictures. Also, all my photo-editing programs are gone/expired. My goal of reaching 10,000 photos is out of the question. Before my camera got ruined though, I took about 700 pictures this year (580 at the cheerleading comp. alone). I probably won't be able to get a new camera until May 7th (my 18th birthday). I'm thinking about going with Nikon this time. It seems Nikon digital cameras just take better pictures than Canon and Kodak. Any thoughts on this? Recommendations, please?
- I printed a portfolio containing 20 of my favorite pictures (this falls under the "Buy Prints" goal).
- I planned my second book BUT not the book I was referring to in my goals; so I plan to start two books this year and finish my first. Sadly, I haven't worked on my first book in weeks. It is currently stuck on my friend's laptop. Until we can get it off there, I can't complete it.
-30 New Poems and 20 New Songs is the goal for this year. Here is the list of songs and poems I have written this year (listed in the order they were written).

Hope everyone is having a great Christmas and enjoying the break/ time off.

SO for Christmas I was given an adapter/ hood set and a Tele-Converter 1.5x lens for my camera. (I have a Canon PowerShot S3IS) I also received 2 instructional books regarding digital photography. Besides the photography books, I also was given Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass, a book of Robert Frost's poetry, and the newest PostSecrets book, A Lifetime of Secrets. Tomorrow, I'll have some new stuff besides the daily desktop wallpaper. Although I enjoy making the wallpapers, I really miss just taking pictures. Hopefully, sometime this week, I'll be taking some nature shots with my new hood and lens. I've done some test shots with the new lens and it doesn't do anything special. Basically, from what I've seen, it makes it easier to get close-ups from a distance (if that makes sense lol).

As for my book, editing is going very slow. Pat has read up through Chapter 12 but we really haven't edited past Chapter 8 or 9. If you are interested in reading Chapter 1, I have it posted on here.

2) "He He He" -> Santa- the child molester that should be in prison but had an excellent lawyer.

3) "Whore Whore Whore" -> And you thought "Ho Ho Ho" was bad.

4) "La La La" -> Santa has become the singing fairy from the North Pole that puts a smile on your face and a candy cane in your mouth *cough*

5) "Yo Yo Yo" -> Santa just went ghetto...G-Unit! He'll put a cap in yo ass if yous don't leave him milk and cookies.

As for Chapter 1 of "And When It Breaks" (my book ), do to technical problems regarding my friend's laptop, the first chapter won't be posted till later today or, at the latest, Monday. I'm sorry for the delay but his laptop is a '98 so it isn't compatible with my computers. We are working on a way to transfer my story, a Microsoft Word document, from his laptop to my computer. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. FYI, we can't use a floppy because none of my computers have floppy drives. Also, his laptop does not have internet.

In other news, my parents bought some of my mugs off here and we got them two days ago. They are really awesome looking. The pictures on the mugs are outstanding, they look way better than I thought they would. I was really pleased with the quality .

The title of my story is "And When It Breaks." My friend is going to write a summary of the story, like what you would find on the back of the book, and I'll be posting that in a journal at some point. I am only posting Chapter 1, for several reasons, which has its ups and downs. Chapter 1 should get you interested but it also might not be enough for some people. The setting is basically the ending of the book, and the book is about how the main character, Martin, got to where he is at.

The last few days on here, I have been uploading Desktop Wallpapers/Backgrounds. I have decided to release a new wallpaper everyday. If I miss a day, that wallpaper will be posted the following Sunday. Be sure to download any of the wallpapers you like I suggest most of them for 19inch monitors and smaller, however, some can fit on larger monitors.

Pat and I got back to work on editing my book. He has been a lot of help and we are now on Chapter 8. It is coming along great, and I can't thank Pat enough for all his help. If anyone is interested in reading the first chapter, let me know. If I get enough people who want to read it, I will post it on here.

Anyway, with recent events, lets say, the need for me to get a job is going to be a lot higher. Finding a job in photography and writing is nearly impossible for someone my age. I have tried really hard to just get an internship and that has been a waste of time, thus far. So, I have updated my online store with more Mug designs, because we all know you can NEVER have enough mugs , and other stuff. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone bought anything. [link]

Also, if anyone knows of any job opportunities involving photography or writing, please let me know.

Monday, I went out with a photographer and we took some shots in various locations in Maryland (Finksburg & Westminster). It was a lot of fun. Thanks for all the comments and favorites on those pictures.

I've been spending a lot of time at the Pour House. My friend Pat and I go there to just chill. We play some chess and listen to the singers that play some evenings. Yesterday, we finally started editing my book, at the Pour House, on Pat's old laptop. We got 3 chapters done, however, they were short chapters and had few mistakes. Editing is very slow and tends to be boring but it will be worth it. I am very happy to be pushing forward with my book. Eventually, I will be posting a summary or the first chapter for all of you to read.

Other than editing my book, I haven't done too much. I've done some other writing but nothing of any importance.

Today or tomorrow look for a new poem or two. I was told by a family friend that my poetry "shows a level of maturity beyond [my] years." Coming from this person, it means a lot. He's a very educated and respected man.

I wish I had some more photography to post but I just haven't been inspired lately. Really, I am waiting for it to snow. This will allow me to get 2 shots for 2 series of pictures in my gallery ("This is [Season]" and "Perfect Stream at [Season]")

Sorry for the lack of comments and such, I had 150 deviations and I'm not going to check them all.

Anyway, I sent out 6 photography internship letters of interest. One came back no and the others I am waiting for a response. I'll probably be sending out some more over the next week.

I haven't taken any pictures in the last few days, which is somewhat disappointing, however, I am hanging out with a fellow photographer this coming Saturday and we are going to be taking some pictures. It should be pretty cool.

Hope everyone had a great holiday break and Thanksgiving. Before you know it Christmas will be here.

On a more personal note, I checked out the Pour House with some friends. It was awesome. I got this Italian Soda drink, it was pretty good. In other news, I typed up a resume of sorts to help with applying for photography positions. My father found a list of photography internships in the Baltimore/Washington area so I will be applying for some positions within the next few weeks. Hopefully, I will get hired and be able to find a permanent job in a few months.

My friend Patrick came up with a great idea so that I can make some money and practice my photography. If I can find people who are interested, I think this would be really awesome. I wouldn't be making much money at all but it would still be lots of fun. Holiday Gift Ideas? More information to come about that. (This only applies locally.)

A few people may remember me talking about a book I was writing. I really only wrote about it on RoosterTeeth.com, but I have talked about it with some of my friends. Anyway, yesterday I finally finished the major writing and plot editing. The ending is something that I will never be happy with because I will always think it could be better; but it is at a place now that I think is the most appealing, I guess, haha. I don't want to talk about it too much because if anyone reads it, I would hate to spoil the ending or any major event in the story. My friend, Pat Lannon, is going to help me with the editing. Chapters 1-3 are done, for the most part.

There are 21 chapters in the entire book. It is a novella, I think, since it is under 50,000 words but more than 20,000 (I forgot the actual number of words in mine but that is likely to change by a few hundred during editing). This is also the first book in a series; so when they are all done and put together it will be classified as a novel (probably around 100,000 words give or take 20,000, lol). I have to say, it is really exciting to say I have written a book. Even if I never get published or whatever, for me, it still is somewhat big.

Hopefully, by Sunday or Monday, I will have some more pictures up on here. I really want to do some more street, abstract, and conceptual photography.

A Note To My Watchers - I add pictures to my scraps frequently and sometimes the pictures are pretty cool (edits, test shots, etc.). If you watch me, I recommend watching my scraps. Pictures that people like in my scraps will be moved to my main gallery.

Anyone else having problems with DA today? I've had trouble uploading pictures and viewing pictures at full size. DA has also been REALLY slowwwwwww.

Anyway, I will be taking some more Fall pictures this week (hopefully). It really depends on whether or not the leaves decide to change colors, lol. Only a few trees around here have red/yellow/orange leaves.

If anyone has any requests for types of pictures you would like to see (Seasonal, Macro, Landscape, Sky, People, Black and White/Edits, etc.), please tell me. I want to know what kind of pictures everyone likes the best

I cleaned up my gallery a little bit and transfered some pictures to my scraps (only three or four). Before the year is over, I hope to have 200 good pictures in my gallery. That probably won't happen but it is a goal, lol.

I will be cleaning out my gallery again in December. Any pictures without a positive comment and/or favorite will be transfered to my scraps.

I try to make sure I thank everyone for the comments and favorites, but sometimes I forget or overlook a comment here and there. So I would like to thank all my watchers and everyone who comments/critiques my work.

Fall is here in Maryland finally. The trees are just starting to change and there is a chill in the air. Within the next few weeks, I'll be posting some autumn nature pictures.

So my poem "You Are My Dream" has made it to the Semi-Finals of the International Open Poetry Contest. This also means it has made it to the final competition in November. I now have a chance at winning something. I could win a gift of some kind, $1,000, or even $10,000!

Anyway, I signed the paper today that allows my poem to be published in the "Immortal Verses" book. This is scheduled for publication in Winter 2008. There is a chance that I will have more than one poem in this book by the time it is published.
