I didn't realize it has been so long since I checked in on the club! Apologies.

Someone has volunteered to take over admin status for the club, though, so as soon as I get a few things sorted out you'll have a new glorious leader to take things on. ^^

- Design an original mask. These masks may portray an original character's personaltiy, characters from the movie who don't have masks yet, or it may be one to express you. An explanation for why you chose to make it look a certain way is encouraged, but not required. Just remember to give your masks some kind of MEANING, not just to make them look pretty. You can also make a mask for your original character/s.
- It does NOT need to be a full-face mask (although it can be, if you like). It can just cover the eyes, or cover one side of the face like in Phantom of the Opera.
- You may not copy any of the pre-existing mask designs used in either the books or the motion picture versions of MirrorMask.
- If you choose to design a mask for a character from the books or movies, choose a character that has no mask design assigned to them. i.e. no Valentine mask redesigns.
- Any visual medium is acceptable. Sorry authors, this isn't a writing contest.

- You may change your entry any time until the deadline, but only one entry per person.
- Please send your entries in note form, not by leaving a comment somewhere. It's easier to keep track of with notes.

Judging criteria is focused on skill and creativity. You don't need to be a master colorist to win the contest or have the most intricate details to win, but it doesn't hurt if you do!

Deadline date is November 8th. The deadline has already been extended by two weeks; it will not be extended again. If no more entries are sent in by then, the concert will be cancelled, and there will be no consolation prizes given.

First place gets a 3-month sub and a print of their choice (15 dollar or less value) OR a free commission by *oliverat of the same value (see the cost details here so you know what you can get).
Second place gets a 3-month subscription, and third place will get one. If there aren't enough entries the prizes won't be as fabulous (

You can also find the illustrated script book, along with various other Mirrormask items, on Amazon. It comes with the original script (lines and scenes that were removed are highlighted in gray). It also has pictures from the movie, both in-scene and in-filming.

Apologies for taking so long to get back to submissions and people wanting to join. Since it's just me, it can be a bit difficult to find time to go through notes and such, although the bulk of the problem is that deviantART always goes to the Cannot Find Server page 4 or 5 times before logging me in when I need to log into an account here. Kind of a discouragement to check the club frequently, and hopefully the admins will fix it soon.

Contest on a new club ID! Since we've been needing a new one for some time, and now I have the funds available to provide a decent prize, I think its time we held a contest. First of many, folks!

Since this club only has a few members and we'll be using only one ID, there won't be any placings, just a single winner. But since only a few people will probably enter, do try! Everyone's got a fair chance at winning.

Only rule: you must use your own graphics. Normally it wouldn't matter either way, but when dA cracks down on violations, it does so hard - and when it comes to clubs, it's even worse, since the members can be in jeopardy as well. You can draw or photomanip or whatever however much you like, but it has to be your own stuff OR from free stock sources. Copied drawings from the books or stills from the movie are OK to go, though.

Prize is a 3-month subscription. The due date is August 14th, extension on the date will be given if there are not enough entries. That's all for now, ask any questions you feel haven't already been answered! And have fun!
