I know lots of people that couldn't find summer jobs this year, so I know I'm fortunate to have found two. On the other hand though, I've been extremely busy and am half asleep most of the time. (I have to be at work at 6:30 tomorrow morning) I normally work 10 hour days. Going back to school will be more laid back, even with studies. I'm looking forward to seeing all of my friends again.
Even with all the insanity of work, I've managed to do a tiny bit of sewing. I'm going to be the Queen of Hearts for Halloween (a renaissance-ish design). After I help some friends with Alice and Mad Hatter outfits, I'm going to attempt a school uniform from Princess Tutu. I'm planning on cosplaying Freya because I will not need a wig- that and she's awesome. I'm possibly going to Ichibancon in January, but we will see. Right now I'm just awaiting my Cosplay DVD from Animazement. I have a few old outfits in my closet waiting to be photographed, but I don't know any photographers. Ah well. I want an excuse to rewear my Raine cosplay too, but I don't know if that's going to happen anytime soon either.
~Miakaylia - I don't think I'll be in your neck of the woods any time soon, but we ought to have a sibling outing/picnic sometime. Kratos and Lloyd can join us too ^^ Though I don't know if I'll see anyone til next Animazement. I definately wanna pre-con next year.

:p We didn't win anything, but everyone we talked to afterward said they loved our skit. ^^ I'm cool with being the fan favorite.
It was a very awesome weekend. I was in the coolest LoZ/ToS group ever XD I am lucky to know such cool people :D
We did not realize it at first, but we really type casted ourselves. I was the Raine in our group. I went on a mini history rant about Sir Walter Raleigh, and Lloyd started to get bored and was daydreaming... It was funny.
Our Sheena had the perfect attitude as well ("Girl, look at what you're wearing.") ... pretty much everyone was spot on :D
Kratos and Lloyd had a father-son outing, Genis and I skipped across the street to the hotel, and poor Colette could not "defy gravity."
It was a pain trying to fit all my ridiculous hair into a wig cap, but it was worth it to cosplay Raine Sage.
The dealers' room was twice as large this year... I bought a lot of stuff (like a corset and a bento box)
It was an amazing (an animazing) con, complete with lots of random hugs. :D
I'm kinda sad the weekend passed by so fast, but it was so much fun. I hope everyone had an awesome Memorial Day.

I'm super excited that Animazement is coming up. My Raine cosplay is about 95% done. I just finished the boots a few minutes ago. They've been such a pain. I will get some photos up when May rolls around. I still have a second medieval dress and a cloak, but who knows when I'll get a chance to wear them. Ive been brainstorming for my next project, but I'll need to get a summer job before I try and buy any fabric.
Other than that, I suppose there's not much to say. One of my friends finally got me to watch Code Geass. That show gets two thumbs up. And I'm glad they eneded it the way they did. Too many shows end up sucking because they never end them and recycle the same plot over and over. I just discovered this afternoon that FMA is coming back, but as a remake that will be faithful to the manga. I'm rather excited because as good as the anime was, the manga is even better.
Anywho, I suppose they're still a month or so away, but I wish everyone good luck on final exams ^^

I have two medieval dresses, a red velvet cloak, and a tunic that I haven't taken pictures of yet. I still have to finish the cuffs of my Buttercup dress, but other than that, I'm done with it. My next cosplay is Raine from ToS. I still have a ways to go on it. That jacket has been a paine in the rear. There's been a lot of hand sewing, but it's going to be really nice because I'm lining the jacket with a pale orange. And with all this stuff going on, I bought an Elizabethan dress pattern yesterday. I've never had a chance to go to a Renfaire before, and my boyfriend's going to take me to one this spring. I'm really exited, but I probably won't be a able to start the dress until Christmas when I get 'money' for gifts. I don't have a job now since I'm in college, and fabric is always so expensive >_<
I'll probably be goofing off throughout dead week, so I'm going to go study before company arrives. I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving :D

But I have to say that the competition wasn't that fierce. Everyone's jaw dropped when I said that I made it myself. Oh well. I got a gift card to the book store, so that should help with 'a' textbook next semester. I'll try getting photos up eventually.
I am working on another project(slowly but surely). It has a lot of orange and black fabric, but it's not for Halloween. If anyone wants to take a wild guess at what it is, you'll get some serious kudos points. I've also been working on some crocheting. I'm going to need a lot of scarves when it gets cold. I am looking forward to walking around campus dressed as Zelda for Halloween. I want to see the different reactions on people's faces as I walk by.
I'm so happy I finally have my sewing machine back <3

When I first arrived Friday night, I couldn't go 5 feet without being asked for a picture and/or a hug.
It was a lot of fun, especially the awe struck faces people would have when I smiled and nodded at them or gave a little cursty :D
I even got a few compliments about my personality fitting the part, which really made me feel special :aww:

Anime Hell was awesome this year. It will rot your brain out, but that's half the fun. My fav video was 'Look Around You: Sulphur' (points in the direction of Youtube)

I ran across a few really creepy guys, but nothing too horrible. I think most people were a bit intimidated by the whole princess thing. (which I'm not complaining about) There was a really funny Father Anderson though, who kept accusing me about some conspiracy. To sum up:
"Why is it that you are always getting kidnapped? Shouldn't you have learned by now and gotten a security system?"
"Well, we sadly don't have technology in Hyrule. It would be nice to have a laptop though," *Thumbs up, "Youtube is awesome."
"How do you know about technology? I know you and Ganondorf are in cahoots. It's all a plan to get Link closer to you!"
(not sure how to respond at this point) "Shhhh..." *slowly starts sneaking away...

The hilight of my weekend was probably that I got to be a pawn in Cosplay Chess :dance: though I only got to move twice. (OH SNAP) I made a scene when Link died- which the crowd ate up. And then I got to take out the Ouran twins. I wasn't sure how to go about it at first. I had no prop weapons- and I couldn't do 'magic,' so I summoned a Navi (who happened to have a gun as well :evillaugh: ) from the sidelines to 'annoy' them to death. One of the commontaters was like: "That's why I played Ocarina of time on mute..."

I ended up giving my chess balloon (which kept bopping me in the face) to one of my friends dressed as L. We wrote 'Kira on it, and he began a game of bopping it back and forth with some random guy who had on cat ears and a leash. Very entertaining.

The (unofficial) Zelda photoshoot was cool, and there was a really funny Mario at the Brawl one. As for the Rave- DJ Amaya did a really good job. I decided to go in my cosplay though- which had ups and downs. It was cool because all these people wanted to dance with Zelda, but I had this horrible fear of my flimsy shoulder armor breaking the entire time (especially when I got caught in the never ending conga line) The hem of my dress got a bit torn up sadly, but I plan on fixing it after graduation.

Ah Crap! I lost The Game again!

The power went out Sunday morn, so I had to get dressed in the dark.
I entered to craftsmanship contest, but didn't win anything. I'm not sad though- there were some Amazing cosplayers there.

And now to get some of my inside jokes out of my system before this journal gets any longer... :D

Last month was prom (yay :dance:) and the premier of this mtv MADE thing with this guy from my school (who made a complete fool of himself)
I have two AP exams coming up, but Calculus should be a breeze.
Then comes the Prince Caspian midnight premier, Senior Project presentations, Animazement, Senior Day, graduation, and then my grandad's b-day.

Okay. I realize that I probably update my journal more than I put up pics, but I'm hoping on posting more over the summer.
I've made things. I just don't have a photographer.

I made a blue medieval gown to wear to the Caspian movie (and I am SO exited)

I'm really looking forward to Animazement. I was hoping on doing a cosplay skit a while ago cause I had a really funky dream with the Men in Tights song and Link.
But sadly, I have no LoZ cosplaying friends to do it with ( but if anyone out there needs a Zelda for a skit... :D)
Ah well. I shall still be content with walking around the Dealers Room and hanging out at Ria's table ^_^

As silly as it sounds, I think the highlight of my day was eating lunch in the atrium: because some random guy in a banana suit came running through screaming "Don't eat me!"
And then I saw that he was being chased... by a guy in a gorilla suit :D

As far as my Zelda dress goes, sadly, I don't think I'll be able to finish it in time for the release of BRAWL.
I'm very close though. I'm in the middle of embroidering the hem, and then I only have the gloves to worry about.
I'm leaning toward wearing this one to Animazement.

I also have a friend doing a historical re-enactment, so I'm making her an Elizabethan gown.

Now I just have to worry about my 8 page history paper (e-gads)

Mine hasn't been as much exiting as I had hoped for, cause I don't have a sweetheart, but it's all good.
I'm leaving with my dad tonight to drive down to Raleigh so I can tour the NCSU campus tomorrow. I'm rather looking forward to it.

As for a costume update, I finished my teddy bear and my Zaft uniform is practically done minus a few details.
Instead of a medieval dress, I've started working on (yep, another one :D) Zelda costume. 'Cept this time it's the dress intead of the cloak. Who's to so whether I'll finish it in time for Animazement or not. I hope I will.
Then again, I should probably be more concerned with getting my ticket and hotel room. I just hope I don't get stuck in the overflow hotel. ^^;

It's been a pain too having to catch up on all my school work, but it was well worth it going up to DC.
We went to mass at the Basilica, and it was an Amazing experience.
The march itself was a lot of fun too, but my fingers went numb from the cold. ^^;
I've started a few new projects.
I'm putting the final touches of my ZAFT uniform. (Which I'm super-dooper exited about :dance:)
I plan on starting a Medieval dress, whenever I find the right fabric for it.

I'm going on the Right to Life March in 2 weeks. That's right folks, I'm Pro-Life (and proud of it)
I'm very exited, but everone is supposed to wear a lime green scarf...
And guess who gets to make the scarves for the folks in my youth group? Man. Scarves are not much fun to make.

I did have a bit of fun today though.
I went to go get my hair cut.
I got a lot of "oohs" and "ahhs"
People seemed to be amazed that my hair was natural, which made me giggle.
After that I told the lady that I only wanted an inch trimmed off.
Here's the deal: my hair is very long, so I had to stand up in order for her to cut it. :D

Oh yeah, and Dragonforce totally schooled me on Guitar Hero III... on Easy Mode ^^;

All my teachers decided to give us last minute projects to cram in before the end of the semester.
The last 3 days in my Calculus class were spent working in a single test... and it's not even the exam...

But anywho.
I'm still working on my costumes... very slowly, but I am.
My Athrun coat is coming along alright, but I still have a ways to go. The sleeves have really pissed me off. I don't know how many seams I've ripped out.
Sigh.
I think it'll be worth it when I finish everything though.

I've started a second costume to work on, so I can go back and forth between the two.
I'm going to keep the character a secret for now, but I will say that they're form Avatar. :D I know it's supposed to be a kids' show, but I :heart: it to death.

Who knows when I'll finish my costumes, so I may put up a comic or two within the next few days.

Don't worry. I'm still alive... for now...

Despite being swamped with an unnatural amount of work, I've still managed to have a little fun.
Last Friday was about the most fun football game I've been to in a while. Standing in the student section is a blast.

I'm also working on my halloween costume here and there.
I've decided that I'm going to rewear my Zelda cloak, because I love it so.

However, I'm adding to it :D
I went to the the Halloween store at the mall and got some latex elf ears :w00t:
I'm also giving the crown another shot. I kinda failed last time I tried making one, but I'm using different supplies this time, and lets just say that using spray paint is a lot of fun. ^_^
And just for fun, I'm making a tunic to wear under my cloak. I saw the most beautiful blue/gray suade, and I had to find someway to use it, so.... yeah. :D

I'm not sure how soon I'll finish, but my plan is to have a mini-photoshoot (*cough*, hand my little brother a camera and pay him $5 *cough*) on Halloween. I want to take pictures of my costumes somewhere with a nice background. I don't have that inside my house, but I do outside. The trick is that I have to wait til Halloween, so I can be seen in my costume by my neighbors without them thinking that I'm crazy. ^^;

My next cosplay is going to be Athrun Zala. I didn't like Destiny, but I thought Gundam SEED was pretty cool. That, and the ZAFT uniforms just plain look cool. ^_^ I've already started the jacket, but I'm taking a break for now. I'll start back up after Halloween

I'm not completely done with it because I still have another 30 minutes of work to do on the collar and I don't have a wig.
Speaking of which, to anyone whose ever bought a wig, Where did you get it from and how expensive was it? I don't know where to look for one.

Anyways. My camera is broken, but hopefully I will be able to get pics of it up sooner or later.

Now to the main topic of this journal.
I can't decide on what I want to do for my next costume, and I thought I could make a poll of sorts to see what all my watchers would like to see me sew next.

1. Cagalli from Gundam SEED.
I just rewatched this series recently, and though I'm not too fond of any of her outfits, I like her as a character and I have blonde hair.

2. Alister Agrew from Last Exile.
Not much reason for this idea, just throwing it out there.
Or maybe I could make a Guild cloak, cause those things look cool.

3. Some sort of historical American costume. Perhaps colonial.

4. A ZAFT pilot uniform from Gundam SEED. Those uniforms look the coolest.
I could make a female uniform, but the idea occured to me that I could do an Athrun cosplay. I've never tried a guy cosplay before, and I'm not sure what to think of it, but I am erm... flat chested.
Athrun is cool though, and even if I couldn't get a wig, I could still be Rey from Gundam SEED Destiny, though I've only seen three episodes of that series.

5. Some sort of Medieval/Renaissance dress.

6. Queen Rutela from Twilight Princess.
I know this would be extremely hard to make, but the idea came to me after watching some dumb Barbie Mermaid commercial. I thought, "oh, a zora cosplay would be cool."

The past few weeks have been filled with their ups and downs.
My grandfather died back towards the middle of the month. It was really rough. I was born on his 65th birthday. I left camp for two days to go to the funeral. I cried a lot, but he had been fighting cancer for two years though, and I'm glad that he went in his sleep.
I was back at camp on my birthday, but the funeral was the day before. I'm 17 now. My grandpa would have been 82.

Enough of the depressing stuff though. I've been tring to think positive.
Camp ended up being a lot more fun than I thought, even though we had to do school work.

I've got to say, that this has just been the best summer ever.
I've made so many more friends at camp than at high school.
So many memories that I'm going to miss:

Making jokes about Moses Cone (and denim robot horses :D),
Wearing my Eowyn cosplay to the costume dance,
Spandan trying to sing "My Heart Will Go On,"
Making fun of Tippies,
Peter yelling "Byahh!"
Learning how to do the "Superman" Dance (soulja boy),
Bradshaw leaping around in his spiderman costume,
Vilas singin "Sucka MCs (from Mean Girls) for the talent show,
My superlative: "Most Likely to be a New Character in Lord of the Rings,"
"Meanwhile... in the Bat Cave..."
Bernard wearing a yamaca,
and perhaps, most of all: making jokes about the two Youtube videos with David Blaine. "CHEEZ-ITS!"

So yeah.
I still have summer reading to do, and I have to go back to work again, but I promise: I'll get back to work on my new cosplay... eventualy...

I hope everyone has had an awsome summer so far.

I'm home just for the weekend. And I'm looking forward to doing nothing, though I still have homework from my Research Class.

I'll be headed back for another two weeks Sunday. I really don't want to have to leave home again, but there is supposed to be a costume dance the last night there. ^_^ And you people should be able to guess how much I love costumes. I'm taking my Eowyn dress. It's math camp, and people there should recognize it... Unlike those guys from that last party that though I was Princess Leia.

I miss my sewing machine since I can't take it with me. I'll just have to continue working on my next cosplay (which I've already started) when I get home.

So yeah, where should I begin... This is going to be a long journal entry...

I got there Friday night. I quickly changed into my Zelda cosplay and ran down to the lobby with my really crappy camera. One of my friends stole Snake's box (see pic in gallery for full story)
I also ran into a girl that said "excuse me, your highness" before asking to take my picture, which was kinda cool. Though not that many other people recognized me.

There wasn'much to do but wander around until Anime Hell started up around 11pm. It left me a little mentally damaged afterwards (lol) Now I'm going around the house singing "Fish Heads" with a toothpick in hand, ready to defend myself from any balloon that might come my way.

I got up early Saturday to put my ribbons back in my hair and get into costume again. I wandered around taking more pics, and then eventually joined a friend to be first in line for the Dealers Room. I had made a list of what I wanted to get in there before hand to help stop impulse buying but I still got A LOT of stuff. I found an absolutely gorgeous obi, which I am going to incorporate into my next costume (which I've already started ).
I also went to see Gloomy Bear in Cosplay Chess. It was so funny when Rock Lee jumped on Gai.

That afternoon I wandered around taking some more pics and looking for some Legend of Zelda people. There was only one other Zelda there. I was very impressed with her dress, especially the armor. We posed together for a picture. I saw a couple Links running around, though most weren't extremely impressive. They were posers wearing blue jeans. If your gonna cosplay, go all the way. One Link I saw was just plain dense. He was running around with a Sheik and a Saria. Jerk didn't recognize me. I twirled around 'casually' so he could glimpse the triforce on the back, but no luck.
Later on though, I saw a Dark Link. A really cool and good looking Dark Link. I had a fan girl moment. I asked if I could pose with him for a picture. It was funny. As soon as I stood beside him, people who had paid me no mind before started taking pics like crazy. I'll make sure to cosplay in a group next time, so I'll stand out more.

Over the the rest of the day, about a million people stepped on the hem of my cloak (including myself), I went to the musical, and I about passed put from the heat dressed in black outside in the cosplay line. I felt clever, because I tied glow sticks to the end of my braids in my hair for going to the rave.

I didn't cosplay Sunday, but instead I ran around in my Father Hat and finished packing. Overall though, this weekend was so much fun... not counting the pain and emptiness I feel when I look at my wallet.

This week has been so stressful.
I had THREE projects to do this week.
A math project where I had to draw a picture, and then write the equation for every single line. And I mean everyone. Circles, parabolas, elipses, hyperbolas, and sinusoidal graphs. The whole deal.
I then had 2 five-page papers, one for english and the other for history. The history one is due tuesday, but alas, I'm not doing any homework at Animazement.

I'm almost done though. I only have revisions to my history paper to do tonight, and then I'm done!!!

I can't wait to go check out the dealers room.
My friend and I want to see the new show LUCKY STAR too.
The opening theme is on youtube. It's so weird, but the dance is so funny. ^_^

I'll hopefully come back from Durham with lots of pics of cosplayers to show ya'll.
Maybe the Kool-Aid guy will be back again this year ^_^

it is so much fun
i love the controller. you see, i'm what you'd call "video game chalenged" but then i saw the Wii controller and thought- wow this may be easier for me, and it looks like a lot of fun anyways. you want to use your sword so you actually swing the controller

i'm still at the begininng, i only just got the wind boomerang in the middle of the forest temple, but i've enjoyed every minute of it so far. Navi is gone and has been replaced by a sidekick that is actually 'helpful.' i have nothing against fairies, but she could never learn to shut up.

i've been begging my parents for one forever. and i got a Razr. downside- i have to share minutes with my parents, and i'm NOT allowed to text (sorry cuz)

after my relatives left in the evening, i invited some friends over to hang out, which was a lot of fun. we ended up going driving, though no place was open. i got freaked out though because 'nameless driver' pulled a Grand Theft Auto U-turn.

all in all though, it was a fun Christmas.

this past weekend i went to visit my grannny and go to my uncle's halloween party
it was much fun, my uncle dressed as my dad, complete with a bald cap, a painted on cleft lip, a cell phone, and a paper talking about money/stocks
and for those who know my dad *cough* auroranwings *cough* that's just like my dad

anywho, on to the real story, so- i'm standing off by myself, and this tall fat guy starts walking toward me, and im thinkin, "o dear, we're not even an hour into the party, and this guy's already wasted."
then another guy like him comes up, only shorter. they look at each other like 'oh, sorry, were you here first?" then both tower over me, and i can smell the beer on their breath

tall guy: "so, what are you supposed to be miss? princess leia?"

me: thinking in my head "no, does it look like i have giant buns over my ears?"
what i actually say: umm, no

short guy: well you're still a damsel in distress, right?

me: thinkin, NO, i don't wanna know what's going on in ur sick middle aged mind
but i still only say- ummm, no

tg: well what are you supposed to be?

me: im from lord of the rings

sg: well they're still like the same thing

me: NO, they're not! one's sci fi and the other's fantasy

sg: well, they're both like from the 15, 1600's

to this, i felt like slamming my head on a desk,so i mumbled
"excuse me"
and i fled, yes, that's right, i ran like the dickens
.... and then my parents decided to make me the designated driver

moral of the story: well if you can really get one out of this:
1. stick with friends at parties, and watch out for each other
and 2. only a drunk man could think that the movie star wars was made during the renaissance
