Anyway, here I am. Not much is new since last time. Oh, I lied. Paper Route happened since my last post. Yes, they "happened"..there's no better way to put it, haha. I first met them with ~ShizMiffle and a few others last summer, and have gotten pretty close with them since then. I'm pretty sure about half of my gallery are photographs I've taken at their shows the last few times they've been in the area, haha. Nothing wrong with that, they're awesome. And if you haven't done so already, definitely check out their MySpace page here ([link]). Ok, shameless plugging done!

I've decided to go ahead and start making some of my photographs available in the dA Shop. I'm not making them all print-ready, mind you, just the ones I've taken that I think are "worthy" enough to grace people's walls /slash/ coffee cups /slash/ mousepads /slash/ calendars. Ha!

Also, on the photos that I'm submitting to be prints, I've added watermarks--just for copyright purposes, not that I actually need to explain myself, hehe.

Let's see...I have a few new clubs *glances down*. Really great photography stuffs.

I got to see 3/4 members from Paramore..like, within 5 feet of me. I got to meet Paper Route (really nice guys!) and got a signed CD from them.

As promised a while back, DiscoverGerry.net is now up and running! YAY! Thanks to members cwinters and caseemarie (as well as co-owner starshine [Michaela] and myself), we finally bring you another fully interactive site for everything Gerry Butler!

I'll give you guys a quick run-through of what to expect when you head over to the site: The main page will give you the latest news on Gerry and any updates made to the site. Also, the main page features quotes, current projects, an affiliate spotlight, and quick links to important sections.

The Gerry section is all about...well, duh! Available features include a full biography (subject to change, of course!) and filmography. Coming soon will be pages for quick facts, awards & nominations, and quotes--both from Gerry and from his peers.

Media includes press coverage (news and article archives), CHAT ROOM, and graphics (icons and wallpapers) donated by the members to be used on the forum or online journals like this one. Coming soon to the media section: audio and video additions!

The links section enables people from other sites to associate with us directly, as well as gives the browsers the chance to see who DiscoverGerry is affiliated with.

The site section shares DiscoverGerry's story [how we came to be] and allows users to become more aquainted with the owners, Michaela and myself.

Of course, there is also access to DiscoverGerry's ever-growing gallery and forum (which some of you might know is going on 3 1/2 years old! LOL!).

Our web designer just semi-bailed on us because of unexpected work projects, plus a few other sites she runs being overloaded now that the Writer's Strike is over. However, she's already completed the structure and graphics, and will be showing me how to do everything--updating and what have you. It's just up to us to finish it.

So, for those willing, I'm looking for "recruits" to help run the site. You'd have to be knowledgable (not necessarily proficient) in web design, various codes, etc. Michaela is pretty familiar with how it all works, however, I am not. I'm a fast learner and could, more likely than not, pick it up pretty quick, but have not been taught thus far.

I kind of wanted to keep this a surprise until I knew for sure, but I just can't keep it to myself anymore... Some of you might already know that there's a scheduled conference call either this Saturday or Sunday (March 15th or 16th) with Gerry. This one is, of course, to help promote Nim's Island. Dayna from Gals, as well as myself, have tried a few times to contact Fox (who's sponsoring the call) to make them aware of our site. We've been doing this since last Thursday to no avail. However, Dayna just let me know that she's going to send my info again right now. We still have 5 or 6 days for this, so I'm only worrying a little bit, lol. Come Thursday or Friday, and I haven't heard anything, then I'll start to freak! Until then, I can only cross all my extremities in hopes of recieving an invitation.

So, in the event that I do indeed get invited, I'll need some questions. One primary question, but a couple of backups just in case ours is already taken by another site. The rules for this one, to my understanding, are a little different than that of the WB sponsored calls. For example...the questions must be Nim's Island related. Of course, we can incorporate Gerry's life in with that...but it must involve the movie.

PLEASE EVERYONE--IN CASE WE DO GET INVITED--GIVE ME SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT NIM'S ISLAND THAT YOU'D LIKE TO HEAR GERRY ANSWER! I'LL PICK 5 OF THEM FOR MY LIST. THE WINNER MIGHT--MIGHT!--GET SOMETHING SPECIAL FROM ME PERSONALLY. I HAVEN'T REALLY DECIDED YET LOL.

Also---and this is totally up to you guys..I have the email addy for Fox. If you'd like to send them a personal email regarding DiscoverGerry and its involvement in this and future phone conferences with Gerry, let me know and I'll send it to you.

About 2 weeks ago, I had to issue a statement to all the members letting them know that the actual GButler.net site (not the forum) had been shut down--at the time, indefinitely. Here's the shortest version of the story I can muster up. The owner had gone awol and the other 3 Administrators had disappeared (mainly because of the owner driving them away with her attitude). I was the only one taking care of the site for about 6 months or so. Which was fine, until things started disappearing and the site got really messed up. From there, I decided to take charge of absolutely everything--but first, I had to hunt down the owner and try to get answers as to what the hell was going on. Anyway, it ended up she let the subscription for the domain run out, but knew that I would've taken over for her. So, yes, the actual site (again, not the forum) is gone.

I'm sure she is a nice person, and I sincerely would never wish ill of her...but she ended up lacking the responsibility that you need to run a website. And if you want it to be successful in the end, you also need to be open to new ideas. A website can't be run as a dictatorship. Everyone needs to be involved or there's no fun in it and arguments are started. I'd rather not be seen as "that site", as we once were.

However, instead of staying pissed off at her and wallowing in the what-could-have-beens, I've decided to start over. Completely. Michaela, an awesome friend of mine, and I had originally attempted to start a site of our own last year, since we were already growing tired of the dictatorship forming on GButler.net, but that quickly died out mainly because of my committment on GButler, in addition to a busy time in both of our lives.

You might be wondering what the fate of GButler the forum will be. Well, in the end, it will no longer exist. Let me explain what will be happening. Over the course of the next few days, I will be starting "the changes" on the forum. I'll start off by adding a few topics and doing some rearranging...and then, at the end, I'll be changing the forum's name to DiscoverGerry (because GerardButler.net and GButler.net are WAY too similar and has been causing a lot of confusion), as well as fixing the banner and any accompanying topic titles to match. However, it will remain GButler until then. While this is taking place, the board will be down for a few hours each day, but I'll have a message up, so don't freak out and think it got deleted, ok? Haha...

IMPORTANT NOTE: The change of the forum name to DiscoverGerry will also mean a change in the link to get there. This will definitely be the VERY LAST thing to be updated. As soon as it is, I'll update my with the updated link.

So, coming very soon, the launch of DiscoverGerry.net. Michaela and I were going to just relaunch GButler, but then realized how much of a bad reputation the old owner built with the other Gerry Butler fan sites, mainly gb.net and Gals. I knew there were some bad things said, but I really had no idea how bad it had gotten. It's such a shame, but we are NOT her and we don't want to be associated with that name anymore. We have nothing but good intentions for the future of the site and I don't want its past to hinder us. Hence, why we wanted to start fresh. One of the members, Crystal, is an awesome web designer, so we've teamed up with her and a few others to help make the site great again. I have a lot of faith. I'll put up the link to that as well, as soon as it becomes available.

I hope I haven't given you all a migrane with all of this new info, lol. I know it's a lot to soak in at once, but believe me, I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't for the benefit of my site.

I'm excited to REALLY get started now, and I hope you all are ready to REALLY Discover Gerry! (I know how corny that sounds, but I love that little line, haha...)

a few weeks ago, one of my good Gerry-loving friends, Michaela, and i decided to create a site of our own, based solely on 'The Butler'. as of now, just the forum is up and running. however, i just purchased a domain last night, so DiscoverGerry.com will be coming to a computer-near-you very soon! we're so excited and would appreciate your input/feedback on how to make DG the ultimate Gerry fansite. as i said before, the forum is up and ready for new members!
