My husband and I are currently house hunting in upstate New York. It is very exciting. We are looking for a country house with some land. We love animals so we need space to expand our collection. I really would like to get into gardening and try to live a more simple life. The great thing about house hunting is its given me a chance to capture some photographs which I look forward to sharing!

Just put up some recent photos from a trip with a group of paranormal investigators at the rolling hills insane aslyum in bethany NY.

caption from their website: [link]

"he Rolling Hills, once known as Carriage Villahe, dates back to the late 1800's. In it's lifetime, this once Genesee County building served several functions from a poor house which dates back to the 1800s, an asylum for the insane, orphanage, TB ward, a nursing home, and most recently as a country mall. Around the time of the poor house, there existed a stage coach station on the property.Historical records show this used to be a market place for children. They would be sold to local farms for labor. One of those children was a slave the rest were often sold to local farms in the area. These children were raped, murdered, and some even buried on the property.

Later in its history as a poor house, it was not unusual for residents to die of a disease like influenza. It was not unusual for these dead to be buried in an unmarked grave in the area surrounding the property. This is how the paupers fields behind the asylum were established. So the property has many unmarked graves which leaves a distasteful feeling when you approach this place knowing you are walking on burial ground.

After the poor house it was an asylum later a nursing home. Rumors in 1920 of nurses practicing witchcraft, infant sacrifices, and evil practices circulated the community. Legend has it that black witchcraft, and devil worship have taken place on the property throughout the building's almost 200 year history. Even in the last few years people have broken into the building and have practice black rituals leaving evidence of pentagrams, and locks of hair hanging from the ceiling. In this room it feels very cold, dark, and different then the rest of the asylum. But these practices have nothing to do with the building and ghostly history that lives in its more than 65,000 square feet.. In its time, more than 1,000 people have died at this home.

Reports from investigators and are residents say that this is an extremely haunted area. Both inside and outside on the grounds. It's not uncommon to hear voices, doors opening and closing, knocking, chairs moving about, physical touches, and apparitions. Entities from these past 200 years still roam these halls, and call it their home. "

*i suppose this should be an outlook of me, the artist, so dont expect everyday ramblings of nonsense, i already have a journal dedicated to that, ([link] or for even more artwork [link])

My photographs recently are not what I would like them to be. Surely they are not awful, but my real work is with a b+w manual camera, and making my prints myself in the dark room, there I think one can find full artistic expression. However circumstances leave me here with a digital camera that i both love and hate.

Im in my final two weeks of college for this semester, and to be honest this place I am at is eating away and sucking at my soul. I have no car here, no escape. So what you are seeing is a result of me trying to fill my void with what I can.

You shall see the true extent (i hope) of my expressions this summer.

Thanks to everyone who has friended me, I hope only to get to know each one of you better as the days come.

xoxo
