Essentially, for the past three days, I've been trying to come up with a brand new style to Karyana, one of my most cherished original characters.

Considering that no one grows younger, I'd like to give Karyana a more mature look. Problem is, I don't have any idea how to do it.

10:20am: Back home.

From thereon, it's been bitching and yelling.

So there you have it. My Holidays lasted a total of twelve freakin' hours...

In Persona 4, the Shadow versions of each character's Persona take on a shape that would be related to either that character, that character's Persona, or both. Also, each Shadow version's Persona form relates to that character's dark secrets.

Yusuke's first Persona is Jiraiya, also known as the Toad King from Japanese lore. Yusuke doesn't want anyone to be stated as someone immature and childish, so his Persona shows it. The Persona form shows Jiraiya as dressed in 70s style clothes, with a frog-like head. The Shadow version of that Persona shows the body upside-down, flaying on top of a giant frog.

Chie's dark secret is that she feels like all she's doing is being in Yukiko's Shadow. Her Shadow Persona represents her Persona sitting on top of another one who has trouble keeping the other one up.

Yukiko wishes to be just a normal teenager, since her parents run an inn and she has to do chores day in, day out. Her Shadow Persona is shown as phoenix trapped in a cage, with her head instead of the bird's head. Her actual Persona looks more like a teenager than a bird.

Rise's image as a pop singer makes her fear that her image will be used as a sex symbol. Her Shadow form is that of a dominatrix, while her Persona looks like a diva (the good meaning).

The other male character (can't remember his name) looks nasty and sounds rough, but he's hiding his emotions. He actually doubts his own sexuality, as everytime he tries to open up to a girl, they think of it as ridiculous. His Shadow form is of himself, half naked, surrounded by two Shadow forms that represent the two sides of his personality: the Nice Guy and the Tough Guy. His Persona, Take-Minakata, still has that rough look, but has a more confident approach.

Kuma's dark secret is that he's a Shadow. His Shadow form is of a gigantic, yet twisted, version of himself. He fears what he is, and doesn't want others to exclude him because of it.

Naoto's problem is her age, and the fact that she asks tomboyish. Her Shadow Persona imitates this to a fault. It can be either very childish (which everything thinks Naoto is, even though she's a brilliant detective) or very mature. Naoto's Persona is very small, but carries an enormous sword. In such a way, this Persona shows that even someone small can do great things.

Now, in Persona 4, it seems that, whenever the Shadow form is defeated, the Persona only awakens when the character can deal with his or her darkness.

Hmmm... Maybe I'm thinking my idea of making a Persona all wrong.

Looking at the Persona of each main character in Persona 3 and 4, I found a couple of constants.

- Most of those Persona have dark "skin", reflecting that the essence of Persona and Shadows is the same;

- Each Persona has a somewhat modern adaptation of the mythological being that it represents. For instance, the only thing that was left intact on Orpheus was his head and harp, so the rest is built as machines, and he uses a speaker in his chest to speak.

- Most Persona use a base model for both their 'descendant' and 'ascendant' forms. So, for drawing them, a Persona would have the same pose and frame, but can have a look that can be similar or completely different. For instance, in Persona 4, Take-Mikazuchi, as used as one of the characters' Persona, has the form of a heavy metal giant, so the giant form and its battle stance will be similar.

- A more magic-oriented Persona would not have any visible weapons, while a physical-oriented Persona would have a weapon and its attacks would revolve around it.

This already gives me some ideas on a Persona to make. The emphasis on role-play and trying to get people's trust would be like wearing a mask, or having two faces. All I would have to do is draw a Persona with twin blades, with green tones, wearing a mask and a cross outfit...

Let's back it up a few days. I was asked by someone to join a contest where each participant must draw a brand new outfit design. Something original (meaning nothing taken from anime/manga) and stylish (points will be rewarded on that). Also, I have to show the flow of the outfit.

Problem is, I feel like I'm drawing a blank. I'd need some inspiration fast, 'cause the contest ends in three weeks.

I've created some characters for role-play and their scenarios have mostly came to an end. What I'm trying to do know is create their children. However, there are some problems.

Best if I explain each case one by one. In Lady Xera's case, she was born with a gemstone embedded in her chest and in her forehead. Those gems represent her rank in society and her lifeline: if either one is damaged, her life is shortened. If both are severely damaged or removed, she will die. The father was a Black Dragon, who she saved from a curse her ancestors put on it. That dragon can take human form and would appear as an tall elf with black hair.

In Karyana's case, it's a bit more difficult. Karyana has several bloodlines linked to hers: two different human branches (her initial form was de-fused and re-fused years later), a winged elf (the result one of the 'seperate' forms' wish), and a special race (best to consider it like Terra's Esper form in Final Fantasy VI). The father is a shapeshifter who inherited the bloodline of a dragon. He normally takes the form of a rough-looking half-elf (brown hair and eyes, strong build).

Now, the big problem here would be to figure what the children of these two couples would look like. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

There's this one dream I remember pretty well. I was sitting in the subway, but I was in first-person mode (in other words, I wasn't seeing myself).

The subway had just restarted and there was a woman and a man close to where I was sitting. That woman was the only one in color: the rest was in black and white. She was wearing a red, spaghetti strap, evening dress and had black hair, about mid-back. Both of them were getting pretty intimate, but nothing graphic. After a moment, the woman turned to me and said something I didn't understand.

A second later, the two of them were gone. I exited the subway and found myself in some sort of airport station, but I couldn't read what was on the signs. I think it looked chinese or something. Anyways, there was color: it was pretty much steel, glass and light, and there was a lot of people. I was on a moving mat - you know the thing you stand on and you move? - but it looked like a red carpet - the Hollywood kind. I kept going and, in a moment, I saw the same woman, but she was alone. It took only a blink and she was gone, but where she was standing, there was a red satin scarf, the same color as the dress. I picked it up, and ended it up somewhere else.

That somewhere else, well, it was like I was standing in the middle of a maze. There was a fountain, but it looked like it wasn't pouring water; it was pouring a light red wine. After a moment, it looked like I was flying over the maze until I stopped at a round door - the kind of door the people of the Shire have in Lord of the Rings. However, that door had a rose as it's doorknob. As soon as I put my hand on the doorknob, I woke up.

Sure wish I knew what it all meant.

Lately, I've decided to use Persona 3's Tarot identification system to pretty much everyone I know. Sounds stupid? That's just a hobby. It actually helped me learn a little about some people.

I found a nice little equation to figure which Arcana pairing suits someone. Essentially, it works with the birthdate. You take the numbers that equal the month and day of your birthdate and add them. As for the year, you split it between the first two digits and the last two. For instance, if you were born in 1979, you'd split it into 19 and 79. Simple as that.

Anyways, you add those numbers to the previous total. The result should be something in the two or three digit numbers. All you have to do is add the digits together. For instance, if the result is 99 and below, you add them. If it's 100 or above, you cut the number between the last digit and the first two. For instance, someone with a result of 132 would be 13 and 2.

Next, you add those numbers together. You get your first pairing. Next pairing, you add each digit of the first pairing together. That gets your second pairing. If your first pairing is higher than 21, than you only get your second pairing.

In my case, my Arcana pairings are 5, The Hierophant, and 14, Temperance. Here are the meanings of both (found online in [link]):
