And when my school started (environmental technology, landscape designing) and our drawing classes began, I realized what are the things that bother me most in my works. I try to improve these sooner or later:

- contrasts. All my works look very pale, I guess I've been too shy. Maybe it would be a good idea to work mostly black and white for a while and consentrate more on that.
- 3D and perspective. I want to do deeper pictures and learn how to use f.ex. 3-point perspective.
- rendering. Sometimes when I have a "good" idea, it doesn't turn out very well...

So I must draw, draw and draw ^^ . Maybe I'll remember these point now when they're public. If you have some suggestions/anything on your mind, I'd be more than glad to hear them.

For a long time I thought that only the meaningful pictures are worth of doing, therefore I didn’t allow myself to do what I wanted to do. I censored my imagination heavily. For example painting a beautiful field was forbidden. As a result I didn’t do actually anything (I didn’t sketch randomly at all, which didn’t make things easier). If I happened to get an idea, my drawing and painting skills were so weak, that I couldn’t do a picture that I could be happy with. And then my interest to art nearly disappeared.

And a meaning, that's invented by force, isn't often very good.

I think that hobbies are for enjoyment and relaxation. It wasn’t clever to make myself do something that I didn’t want to do, and it was even more silly to forbid all the nice things from myself. When I didn’t enjoy as much of drawing/painting as I used to, I didn’t get ideas and I wasn’t happy with myself, and then I enjoyed even less of art – it was a real rat race.

Now I’ve decided to do anything I ever want to, I’ll try to forget that censoring completely. It took a long time to realize one thing: art has always been done for many reasons, and they all have their own and different, but equally important, purpose.

And then back to this world :) : After a couple of weeks I start my studies at an university of applied sciences. I'm going to study environmental technology, actually environmental planning. It's going to be an excitinhg year, as I'm moving from my parents' house etc. :eager:

But that's enough reasons! Now I'm going to show you some of the work that I've done during this time, little by little. And for the people that I'm watching: I'm pretty sure that I wont be as active as I used to be, but I'll try to come by and comment once in a while. And I won't probably be able to thank you individually for favs etc. So: thank you!

if you happen to like of some work of mine, the biggest compliment you can give is couple words of advice or hints. Helpful critiques are the thing why I'm here.

And another thing that I'll try to be humble with "art" and at the same time I'll try to be happy with what I've created. I draw and paint because I like to do it, not because I "have to". If I don't feel like drawing/painting, then I won't do it. It's simple and relaxing.

I don't want my hobbies to become "have to do" -things to me. Deviantart is a wonderful place, it has really helped me to get information and inspiration. But I've also noticed that I don't dare anymore to take risks and make adventures to the world of art. Because of that I've been sticking to the same style of doing art, and I've not improved as much in these years than I would've wanted.
Now I want to just let go and get mixed up with doing "art". Somehow I feel that all pictures should be nearly perfect when I post them here, but in the same time they have become actually worse (I'm not personally at all happy with them).

Shortly put, I want to enjoy again of doing art.

Sorry to all the people that I'm watching, I wont be commenting on anything for a while. I will be back (but I don't have any idea when)!
And I'm sorry ~Alderfly, you tagged me already a while ago but I haven't done it... I'll probably do it when I return.

I have been thinking about doing this for quite a long time, and now I finally decided that I'm going to do it now. This could even be my little "celebration" for over 2000 page views, or maybe I just needed an excuse to do this.

I'd like to do collaboration with you, so that someone draws a picture (traditionally or digitally, but if you do it in a traditional way, please ink it and clean up the scan) and I would colour it, probably with watercolours. I nearly dislike sketching, colouring is the thing what I really enjoy of, and now when I'm having this summer vacation I also have a lot of time for art (or at least more than usually).

"An easy way to talk about Finland and Finnish music."

That should've been the topic of this journal, but sadly it was too long... Anyway, some days ago I noticed an hilarious article in our local newspaper (yes, I sometimes read the news) or actually in the part which is more to young people. It isn't as serious as the main paper.

So... There was article of how one could talk about Finland and of Finnish music to foreigners. The temptation was too big, and I scanned all the pictures of it so that you could read them. At least I'm now doing my duty as a citizen of Finland.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I logged in some moments ago... I had won subscription for 3 months! Seriously.... I never thought I could have one, because I probably won't ever buy it myself (yes, I am a bit stingy).

First I thought that this whole "So i herd u liek Mudkips?" - thing was something nasty done by an evil hacker, and nearly reported the whole thing to HelpDesk. And then the big joke by traditional art community, that `nimra would've used digital manipulation in her wonderful works, I just thought oh no, that's so sad...
I'm happy that only few people tricked me today, as I were completely unaware of what date it was. I don't even want to imagine what I could have believed... :shrug:

And then to other things... Some days ago I had my birthday, and turned 18. I still don't believe it, because I feel like I'm still 16 years old :) . Well, of course it's great to be "adult" now, maybe the biggest thing for me is that I don't need anymore my parents' permission to everything, and if I could, I'd be able to drive a car now (but because I don't need one and can't afford to buy it, I'm travel happily in the public transport. And walking and cycling is a great way to get some exercise)
It's a little frightening to get constantly older... and older.
But I'm very happy that I did get all 18 candles to my cake! :cake:

I was so very *cough* creative *cough* when creating that user name... But it is pretty easy to remember, isn't it?

There I'll explain more about my photography and about things that are connected to it. Especially if you're interested of that genre of art, and have something to say, it would be very nice if you could give some critiques and hints, they would surely be useful.

During these few months I did have one once-in-a-lifetime -experience, when I was in the prom (it's not exactly the same thing here in Finland, but I don't have any better words to describe it). I hadn't danced before our dancing course in the school, but after all that I think that I was actually very fun :boogie: ! Although the polka was killing my feet (I was, of course, wearing high-heeled shoes).
It was fun, but luckily it's over :phew:

Sometimes I feel that I simply don't have any time to paint or draw. If I have very much schoolwork, then the phrase "No time to draw" is true, but sometimes I just sit in front of computer and do nothing, nearly trying to avoid all kind of art and things related to it. At times like that I am a bit worried of my "artistic growth": if I don't even touch to pens and brushes, it is clear that I wont develop at all.

But luckily I managed to get new ideas! I hope that I'll be able to submit pictures more often in the future than in the past. I also want to apologise for not being able to comment on your deviations and journals so much. I will try to get a grip of myself :)

I'm not searching any classical music, but nearly anything else is okey :) . I've tried to search some songs myself, and that 'Protege Moi' from Placebo is only one that I have been able to find.
