As many of you may be aware, Kiki Havivy, an incredibly brave little girl that has been in the lives of pony fans throughout the fandom for almost two years now, passed away yesterday after a long struggle with cancer. Tara Strong broke the heartbreaking news yesterday and the community has responded strongly with condolences and other wonderful gestures. The family has responded, thanking the community.

I personally didn't know about this until this morning. News of a death is never easy to take, and its devastating when it's about someone so young and loved by many.

This post is largely directed towards anyone who moderates or runs a MLP-related group on DeviantArt, but the information contained can be relevant to everyone.

Over the past few hours, there's been a note circulating around to various MLP groups, claiming that there is a small group of "hackers" (which is not the correct word) attacking MLP groups, taking them over, and vandalizing them. To counter this, the note is suggesting that groups should block all join requests, disable auto-accept, and then forward the note to every other group you know of.

Really, that's horrible advice, don't do that.

After reviewing a lot of feedback from our members and watchers concerning how much art we accept into this group, we have changed the daily submission limit to one deviation per day.

The reason for this change is that we are trying to strike a balance between allowing our members to submit a generous amount of deviations, while not overloading and flooding our watchers with notifications. There was some concern that we were accepting way too many deviations (over two hundred per day, on average), and we feared that if we continued this, watchers would start ignoring notifications from this group. First off, due to the large amount of submissions we receive, the administration will be re-worked into two separate jobs. The Moderators will stay on to only vote on art and see it pass into the group. The Contributors will be the sorters of the art into the appropriate folders.

Now, given this power split, we are in serious need of new admins! Thus, we are opening up a call for new administrators! This selection process will be slightly different from the one we had a few months ago, in ]]>
