Well, I wanted to update on what I've been up to lately. Unfortunately, the art has been lagging behind just a bit. But that's because I've been focusing my creative energies on trying to finish a cosplay in time for a convention on the 19th.

It's about 75% done, and I've got just over a week left.
It's Prof. Claus F. Lester from Tales of Phantasia, by the way.

This is my first time making legit clothes from scratch but I think it's coming out pretty nicely.

Hopefully it all comes together like I plan.

So between cosplay making and on-the-side art projects, my work schedule should be finalized soon. I need one more training session (hopefully this week) and then I can start regular shifts. That'll take up even more time, but I'm making sure I get off for the convention weekend.

I think after the con is over I'm going to treat myself to some Super Sculpey clay and try my hand at model-sized sculpturing. I have original Sculpey at the moment that I use to make small charms, but it's not very easy to make large, detailed models out of. I have tentative plans to make maybe an 8-inch tall character model, just for fun. 8D

In between, I also need to finish my Avatar group project XD I will get it done eventually, even if it waits till school starts again. I'm trying to get it done before that, though.

I have a bunch of projects on my to-do list. I think my first priority will be to design a shirt for my hall- which I still have very little idea of how to go about it. After that (or during or before) I should really finish coloring the logo for my friends' band. But I don't know how I feel about the design so I have no motivation to finish it if it's not going to look good. Ah well.

Then finally, with the completion of our Avatar: The Last Airbender series marathon I shall get started on a special pic for my Avatard friends. We're all going to be benders in the Avatar universe 83 That'll be a lot of fun, I just have to get it done in the next month.

I felt like updating my journal, cuz I'm not quite as lazy as I was before. Or at least I'm trying not to be. Anyway, just a few random things I wanted to mention:

(whoa there's a lifesized toy dog on TV... goodness, what's the world coming to? o.o)

Anyway!

I need ideas for a Halloween pic. Preferrably featuring my OCs or characters from popular shows, or a mix thereof. Any suggestions/comments at all appreciated.

Inspiration is important! I find music, tv, and movies are my most common muses. But the problem is I've lost most of my motivation to spend time and money on new movies lately, and I don't watch much tv anymore. And as always, school steals away time and energy to get anything done. =/ I'm trying to work it out, though.

To keep me motivated and practicing/improving, I'm up for any art trades. I'm only able to do sketches right now, but if you don't mind them I'm totally up for it!

Holiday season is coming up, hope it's a good one!

Actually I'm considerably less lazy than I was about a week ago. That's when I got a spiffy new .05 mm pencil to play with 8D *nerdslap plz*

Believe it or not I have been drawing. I did a lil at the beginning of summer and then picked it up again with my shiny new pencil after a month-long art block (yay me). I have just been too lazy to scan the recent ones and I decided to keep the other ones off of dA. Aiden and Eli, you see... having special moments. =3

These boys are so awesome. I hope to be doing a lot more of them and also working on traditional pencil art again. Tashi and I have tentative plans to get a table at next year's con and put some of our wares on display

Hooopefully that will include some Aiden and Eli stories and.. possibly manga =X Which I need to work on a LOT. Anyone have tips on comicking? It'd be greatly appreciated.

Oh by the way their shonen-ai story finally has an official name: Chained. Heck yes.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be getting much digital work done lately, as I can't get my tablet to cooperate with this laptop. But like I said I'm looking forward to getting back to pencil and paper again.

As summer nears, I find myself having more time for art and other interests that were pushed aside by more pressing responsibilities. I'm excited to have free time again, but it's also a little disappointing that I can't keep these things up the whole year through. Ah well. Maybe this time it'll work out.

I saw the Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D last night. It was absolutely gorgeous. That has to be the clearest and most vivid 3-D I've ever seen. But besides that, it gave me a whole new appreciation for the amount of work and detail that went into that movie. Some parts are just so beautifully artistic, and the way they rendered such emotion and personality in clay figures through still pictures! And gave it the feel of a live action movie on top of that, with camera pans and angles? I love it.

The scenes on top of the hill at the beginning and end were stunning.

I was thinking about starting that fanart 100 that's been going around. 100 sketches based on 100 themes, using the characters of a favorite show/game. I'd like to use Tales of Symphonia, cuz it's so detailed I think it would fit easily into each theme. Plus, I'm pretty obsessed with that game right now.

But I dunno if I'd have the time or dedication to really do it, so I'm still debating.

I saw POTC III yesterday!! It was great- i LOVED it. I wasn't sure what to expect, it being the third installment and Dead Man's Chest was slightly disappointing. But it was really good. I hope they make more ;w;
I GOT TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH JACK AND WILL!!

As a promotional thing they had people dressed up as pirates in front of the theater. The costumes were great and Jack was totally into it. When Will got in the picture Jack said to me, "Handsome devil isn't 'e? Too bad about the snip snip though. Eunuch." It was cute X3

Apparently my original one was so fried that they had to ship it off to the Nintendo factory to be gutted, reworked, and then sent off to someone else when they need to. So, I have a "like-new" Wii that WAS somebody else's but is now mine. I feel kinda weird about that. And kinda sad that my baby is going to be with someone else now.

Plus, that means I lost all of my game data, Miis, Wii-notes, and Channels (even though I only downloaded free ones and I can download them again). Yeah it sucks. I have to start Twilight Princess from the very beginning, which I don't really mind but it sure will be a pain. I was over half-way through the game! ;w;
Oh, and that's not even the half of it dearies. The original power cable doesn't work either. But we didn't know that when we sent off the console to be repaired, so I have to wait another week to receive a new, working power cable. Thankfully, with the help of ~magicwzrd90 I was able to make sure that all of the other components are still working, so this should be the last step in Wii-recovery (hopefully!).

What's the moral of this story? Keep your Wii (and other consoles) on a surge protector (even though it didn't protect mine from lightning), and consider unplugging your consoles during thunderstorms!!

Lightning killed my Wii!!!

It won't show a picture anymore and all of the cables are plugged in the way they've always been. A lot of other stuff got messed up too. First thunder storm in a long time and it manages to fry a tv, a dvd player, an answering machine, the furnace, and my precious Wii!

Plus half of the lights weren't working and the phone lines were dead. Gaaaahh!
So now I have to send the Wii to Nintendo for repairs. Could take up to a month.

And I had planned to play Twilight Princess this weekend!
Anywayz. I guess that leaves more time for drawing huh? *doesn't feel much better*

I need to draw more. TT_TT
I doodle a lot in class but they're really pointless and I erase like 98% of them. And I haven't done an original drawing in a while, much less a fully colored pic. I've been working on the comic (I have like 4 pages to scan and color) but I don't have any ideas of my own lately. And when I do get an idea I don't have the time to properly devote myself to it.

AND I NEED TO DO DP FANART!! I've neglected poor Danny for so long! I miss him. But I don't have any ideas for that either! Argh!
Well, I'm trying to fix my lack of creativity *nuzzles sodalite* but I still don't have the time. I'll have to make time. I need to draw! I need to continue my DP Fanfic! (but no promises on the fanfic).

I finally started the comic today!

I have the first two pages done, and I'm working on the third. Tashi (the writer of the story I'm comicking) told me she's working on a sequel to the Harp! Whee!

It sounds really good, too. So I was like GEEZE I haven't even started the first part and you're coming up with a second!? I need to get movin'! And it turned out to be just the kick in the pants I needed.

As soon I scan the first two pages they'll be up here. I might have to ink them first for them to show up nice and clear. Just have to see what meh scanner can do.

Right now I'm working on my friend's story, the Harp. We've been designing characters and settings and we're almost ready to start the comic itself! Yippee!

I'm done with all the ref sheets- I'm coloring a few of them. After they're cleaned up a bit I'll be posting them here on dA. And as soon as the first page is done that'll be up here, too! I hope you guys will enjoy the story and hopefully the comic will look decent, too XP

Do any of you have any tips on how to make a good manga-style comic?? Any help would be muchly appreciated. ^^

In other news, I've noticed that I've been neglecting Danny for a while.

Once I have break from Harp I'll have to do some fanart for 'im.

I dunno how productive I'll be for the next few weeks. I have to start taking care of...responsibilities. *shudder* lol. Like summer reading. yuck.

I told my buddy *DPcrazy565 (go check out her gallery- it's full of DP goodness!!) that I'd be putting up a DP fanfic soon, so I'm gonna try to get that done within the next few days. I have to type up the story, which isn't very long, it's just the illustrations that are time-consuming.
