Been a while since I've done much on here besides look at other people's work and read their journals.

School's back in session, I should be able to survive this semester intact, and what do you know - I'm arting again. (I can hear you going "duh" out there.)

I've got lots of pictures from Vienna (from back in May/June!) but I have yet to go through and pick out properly artistic ones. I promise I'll do that eventually.

The prints I put up today are all outside of classwork, thus why there's not as much information as I normally provide. I think the black figure and white moon will continue to show up for a while as I experiment further. Sorrow, for example, was me trying to convey a particular mood through the print, not just making it in a progression like my earlier moon prints.

I'm starting to wonder if I should order more linoleum. I do still have three 6" square blocks left and no, I'm not intending to make Sorrow into a series with them.

I also wonder if it's strange that, though I am a graphic designer, all the art I do on my own is off the computer. I love working on the computer and the polished look my finished pieces have, but when I want to just make something, it's always a physical thing, not moving a mouse around but holding a pencil over paper and such.

Then again, I've been told that as a designer, it's a great thing to have other media in your portfolio, so I'm almost certain Sorrow will be in there next semester.

That's probably enough rambling for now.

Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn’t make sense. NO CHEATING!
4. Bold the questions and with the answers, give your own comments on how it relates to the questions.

1. How are you feeling today?
Precipe, Bear McCreary, Battlestar Galactica Season 3
Errrrr...I have Star Trek on my mind? Does that even really relate?

2. Will you get far in life?
The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny, Lemon Demon
*blink*  I guess that's a good omen?  o.o;

3. How do your friends see you?
Final Showdown, Maya Rudolph & Rupert Everett, Shrek the Third
I really hope people don't see me as an overly dramatic selfish idiot.  -.-;

4. Will you get married?
Gil-Shallos, Leslie Fish & Ernie Mansfield, Magic, Moondust and Melancholy
*giggle* This is HILARIOUS. The girl in this song reflects on how she didn't marry a doctor like her parents wanted, and ended up in a different world, as a warrior maid, in love with a wizard at least half again her age. So, this song coming up for this question makes me giggle and supports my alternate worlds, alternate realities theory.

5. What is your best friend's theme song?
Mulan's Decision (Score)
Hmmm...I do think that works, particularly the instrumental with Oriental tones.

6. What is the story of your life?
Ahavat Olam, Debbie Friedman, Songs of the Spirit
*shrug* I'd say that my religion is important to me, so I guess it works.

7. What was highschool like?
Beyond the Sunset, Blackmore's Night, Under a Violet Moon
Hmmm...soothing instrumental. Yeah, I guess I did kinda coast through for the most part with few real impacts.

8. How can you get ahead in life?
Me and Bobby McGee, Janis Joplin, Watchmen
...is this telling me to become a musician? A traveller? To sleep with someone? DX

9. What is the best thing about your friends?
Defeat you Red Dragon, Dragon Half
*snerk* I'm not sure if this is saying that together we can do a lot, or that we play an awful lot of D&D. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

10. What is in store for this weekend?
When you Wish Upon a Star, Pinocchio, Classic Disney Volume 2
Oh goody, I'm finally going to get to the museums I want to see.

11. To describe your grandparents?
The Prince of Egypt (When You Believe), Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston, The Prince of Egypt
Somehow, I think this about my dad's parents, not my mom's. Hmm. Lots of miscommunication there, I think the song is saying.

12. How is your life going?
Kissing Town, The 10th Kingdom
WTFSHUTTHEFUCKUPYOUROTTENLIAR.

13. What song will they play at your funeral?
As Long as You're Mine, Stephen Schwartz, Wicked
...I think my playlist is trying to send me inaccurate messages about my current lifestyle.  -.-;

14. How does the world see you?
The Circle, Blackmore's Night, Secret Voyage
Part of the cycle of life, apparently.

15. Will you have a happy life?
We Four Girls, B*Witched, B*Witched
I guess I'm ready to go and have one?

16. What do your friends really think of you?
The Night is Ours Forever, Mad Parade, Reissues
I guess that means they think I'm trying to find who I really am.

17. Do people secretly lust after you?
Dig It, D Tent Boys, Holes
...no comment.  -.-;

18. How can I make myself happy?
God Save the Keg, Blackmore's Night, Secret Voyage
...apparently by letting go and actually getting drunk for once.

19. What should you do with your life?
Deathbed and Maelstrom, Bear McCreary, Battlestar Galactica Season 3
...I should die in the end. That is...less than helpful. Or maybe cause some chaos too? That is slightly more helpful...

20. Will you ever have children?
Pikachu (I Choose You) - Short, Elan Rivera, Pokemon 3: The Ultimate Soundtrack
I suppose that means after I meet the right person.

21. What song would you strip to?
Fog Bound, Klaus Badelt, Pirates of the Carribean - Curse of the Black Pearl
Uhhhh... *shrug*

22. If a man in a van offered you candy, what would you do?
If I Only Had a Heart (Extended Version), Herbert Stothart, The Wizard of Oz
*laughs* Oh man,...

Omg. OMG OMG OMG OMG.

Okay, so end of finals last semester, I submitted a pair of pieces for an upcoming art show. It had pieces from undergrads, grads and professors, up to two each. All displayed anonymously.

They've been up a couple of weeks and tonight was the reception. Tonight all the works were for sale for $20, first come first serve. After a piece was sold the artist, title and media would be displayed in its place.

I had two pieces in.

My ceramic puppet ( [link] ) sold first, but it was swiftly followed by my print set ( [link] [link] [link] [link] ) which was mounted together into a whole.

I walked in near the end and everyone was all CONGRATS and I was (and am still!) SOOOOOO HAPPY!

So yeah, totally feel like a real artist now.

Oh yeah, it is just about finals time and I'm just another half-sane art major, boo-yah! Let me elucidate for you.

On Monday I have my process book for Graphic Design due. It is going to be over forty pages, squarebound and about the size of a standard paperback. Lotta time going into there once I get off my lazy bum and finish it up and print it. It's one quarter of our grade too.

EDIT
Process book ends up being about fifty pages and is currently sitting under some hardcover books so that it stays shut and not popping open all the time. In other words...it's FINISHED!***

On Tuesday is my last Ceramics class, in which I will have my last critique. Before that, I have a firing tomorrow (we load at 8:30 AM), and I have to put together my seven figures, each consisting of 14 individual pieces. They were soda fired last Monday and look awesome, but I have some problems getting the wadding off of a few of the pieces. So...I'll put five together by Tuesday. But to do that, I need to buy some string. (I promise I'll upload a picture.)

EDIT AGAIN
Last critique is done, pots are put away, figures are sitting in my locker waiting for a trade (holyshitsomeoneactuallywantsoneofthedamnthings!) and for entry to an art show. They were also all strung up on Sunday night, allowing me to sleep in on Monday, surprise of surprises!***

Next Friday is my Geology final. Pretty straightforward, it's our fourth test, and non-cumulative. I should read the chapters beforehand.

The following Monday is my Printmaking final. Our group final is sooooo far behind schedule. We have to finish carving the two foot by four foot piece of wood, learn how to use the big press, cut the damn roll of masa into slightly smaller pieces, ink it up and print it 16 times. Oh, and I want to finish up my side project series too - it's ready to be proofed, and after that I may or may not want to revise one or more of the blocks. Anyway, I want to print that up on my remaining sheets of masa. (NOT THE ROLL.) Nice to know I'm actually caught up in one class.

And the last day of finals, that Wednesday, I have a paper due for Women in Art. It's supposed to be five pages, and that should be an easier goal once I add in the information about her interest in Latin American art, death date, and of course all the footnotes. I hadn't put some of the information in because this is for a database of women artists in Illinois working between 1840 and 1940. Since my artist didn't actually travel to Central America until 1941, I opted to not put that information in the rough draft. And since the draft was 2 pages with massive footnotes (which are apparently not overly massive), I should be able to hit four pages at least.

Sooooooo...yeah.  That's basically what's going on.  Not to mention the Psi Phi party on Tuesday night, my sister's play on Saturday night, and of course internet time.  >>;

BUT TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER...I got my Hannukah present early this year. 8D; It is a Canon Rebel DSLR camera, plus 8 GB CF card. 8DDDD I had to buy a lens myself (which just arrived today - woot!), but man this baby is woooorth it!

I shall change that.

Clearly I've been dead this semester overall. I blame the brilliant idea of taking three studio classes at once - Ceramics, Printmaking and, of course, Graphic Design. Expect mass uploads sometime in December.

Beyond that...what is there to say? Oh, well, hopefully I'll be getting a DSLR camera this December - fingers crossed!

And again, whoever can show me a screenshot of my having 5k pageviews will get art. I do not guarantee much, but I guarantee art.

So yeah, here's hoping I survive the rest of the semester.

If you're the lucky one who sees my pageviews at exactly 5000, screenshot it and link the picture with a comment here.
So...it's taken me two years, but I've finally figured out how to get pictures I take with my phone onto my computer. And now, you people who bother to read my journals and look at my artwork have been inundated with a ton of charcoal/conte/pencil drawings from a couple of my art classes in collge.

Many of them are not that great. Many of the pictures aren't that great. I mean, come on, it's just a phone. But the phone actually makes some of those pictures look better than they really are. So I'm not complaining.

There have also been a few digital submissions from before today. Those are from my graphic design class, which I am thoroughly enjoying. Expect more in the future. I do have a couple others finished that haven't been put up, but not all of them will be up in the future. Some are based on my name, and you guys all know how paranoid I am. Others I just don't think are interesting enough, but I may put up in the end anyway. One I'm seriously thinking of revising though visually I don't think it's necessary.

So, expect a bit more in the way of submissions this semester, even as my free time is eaten up by some of these classes. ^^

Anyone reading this entry probably noticed the art dump yesterday will a few things from my typography class. Those are the easiest things to upload right now, because they're already on the computer and I just had to convert a few files here and there.
I'm also in a figures class and a ceramics class. So, there will need to be photographing if I want to put any of those things up.

At about 5 PM today, I went to MCS, my university's gaming club that meets in the student center cafeteria each Friday. There were a few guys trading Magic cards and a few others here and there. Then it was suggested to play Risk.

It was determined that because of missing pieces we could not play Risk Castles (unknown game to all of us) and could only play normal Risk. I was green, Crazy Psychobitch was blue, Psychobitch's boyfriend was yellow, Guy Whose Name I Can Never Remember was red, and Guy Who I Never Want to Know What he Said was black.

Upon seeing the playing field, most notably Black, Smart Guy (red), and Psychobitch, I decided that I couldn't win, and set myself up to become a thorn in their sides. Therefore I built up my armies in Afghanistan, Scandinavia, and Quebec.

Smart Guy was not pleased, considering I stood in his way of taking over North America. I don't really blame him, and I felt bad enough that I did some attacking later to make it up to him and help us all against black in the process.

The game progressed and eventually Psychobitch and Smart Guy had to leave for another club. Psychobitch turned her pieces over to Ryan (another smart guy, but I refuse to reuse nicknames) and Smart Guy rolled dice to pass over his cards and allowed the red pieces to remain where they were in North America. The highest concentrations were in Central America and Ontario.

Later, I was left with only Quebec. But when my turn came around, I was able to turn in my cards for a ridiculous amount of troops, which then enabled me to expand my "turtle," as my comrades called it. I eventually expanded the turtle to Greenland, Eastern United States and even all the way out to Kamchatka. I actually held North America, but for Central America. But I'd prudishly left Smart Guy's pieces in place as they would take effort to defeat, and meanwhile provided me a buffer.

I should mention that part of why no one directly attacked my turtle throughout the game. The first bit is that when defending part of Europe, I, with only three armies, cost my enemy eight armies. The second is that someone actually did attack my turtle of Quebec with fifteen armies. I only lost four in defending myself.

I should also mention that Ryan, while defending from a major offensive launched by Black, accidentally threw the dice and they bounced off of my butt (from the side). Oddly enough, the next several rolls were clear wins for him. Black was not pleased and I was laughing so hard I was crying. Sadly, Ryan was eliminated later.

So as I stood, ready to take on Asia and defend North America, it came to be 9 PM. Psychobitch's Boyfriend, who had been basically playing to lose, but kept a firm hold on Australia through the entire game, was tired and decided to quit. The rest of us decided that about four hours was enough for all of us, and chose to call it a three-way tie. At that exact moment, Smart Guy walked back into the cafeteria. He was thrilled to learn that technically he still possessed Central America and could be considered part of the tie.

It is entirely possible that Black, poised to gain 80 armies on his next turn, which [i]was[/i] the next turn, would have been successful in his campaign against me. But we all considered that unlikely, taking into consideration that the campaign in Europe that showed only fools roll against me was his.

All in all, it made for a very enjoyable evening. ^^

Well...yeah. Of course my DA account is dusty. I haven't done shit here in well over a year.

So, here's to trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm very sorry, but I've deleted all of the backlogged journals and deviations and polls. Just way too much stuff. If there's something somebody wants me to read/look at and comment on, please feel free to drop me a comment or note to do so. ^^

As usual, your chances of reaching me are much better on Gaia. But, hey, I shall work to be more active on this site!

Sadly, I have nothing new submitted. Not that I've been completely dead in the art department. It's just that school has eaten my life and I have no good camera to use on said pieces of art.

And I hate my sculpture that will, in all likelihood, end up in Scraps.

But I am not dead, and I live! Again!

Sooo...I have to put up 6 weird/unique things about myself, and then tag 6 other people. Hmm. This will be difficult. ><

1. My IRL name comes from an old black-and-white movie that my mother was enamored of at the time. The character I'm named for never once appears onscreen, and I'm under the impression that she's the object of much...ehem...rivalry. I won't mention the name of the movie, but if you think you know the title, feel free to guess. *wicked snicker*

2. When it comes to books I've read, especially ones I like and keep in my bedroom, I can recall them at the drop of a hat. Give me a name (say...Camazotz) and I can tell you the book and/or series. Give me a title (say...Sunwing) and I can bring to mind the main characters, the plot, a short summary, and even some scenes I found interesting. Needless to say...my friends get an earful when they ask me to recommend books to read. ^^

3. I'm currently keeping a record of all the funniest quotes and exchanges in my Latin class for this school year. With the period being shared between Latin III (4 students) and Latin IV (me and one other), plus the best teacher in the district, things can get a little crazy. The quote list has just reached 10 pages in the MS Word document - and it's single spaced.

4. Apparently, through my dad's side of the family, I'm distantly related to Mark Chagall. Who knew?

5. I sleep with my three pink blankets that I've had since I was a baby. This is seriously the only pink I own.

6. As a baby I was premie, bald, and wore Cabbage Patch Kids clothing. Diapers too. Seriously. I know there's a photo somewhere in the house...I'll have to look around some time.

Whew! Lessee. I tag...

Lately I've been very stressed. I can tell just by evaluating some day-to-day things I've noticed.

I've had trouble sleeping and have probably been averaging 5.5 hours a night, on and off, for the past two weeks.
I've had trouble focusing in a number of classes.
My memory's had some lapses that normally I wouldn't care about.
I haven't had my period for over a month.
I found a grey hair the other day. Then again...that one could just be genetics.

April and May are just bad months, and I'm convinced now. There's so much going on, it's all adding up in bad ways.

Grades. If I get all A's again this quarter, I don't have to take any finals. However, Physics, the one class I desperately want an A in, is so much harder this quarter for some reason. I'm not sure why, but I don't think the effort it would take to make a 10 minute video with two idiot classmates is worth 25 points extra credit. So I'm going to have to do really well on the rest of the tests and projects.
AP Exams. I'm taking four next month, and I haven't really started studying. I've attended the review sessions for government and psychology, but that's all. I know we're going to prep in Latin, but I'm on my own for English Language and Composition. I'm so screwed, I'm already stressing about them. I'm worried that I won't get the 3's I need to get credit on each of them, and I'm mad at myself for not studying at all as of yet. Combined, it's enough to drive me insane.
After school activities. This is currently crew for the spring play, literary magazine, and youth group. Crew is 6-9, Monday through Thursday, and has tech Saturdays from here until the performances. It's not that much mentally, but it is time-consuming. Literary magazine's a mess. We should've sent the damn thing off to the publishers by now, but it's been a bad year for deadlines. We haven't even started informing the authors/artists that their submissions are in and begged them to use their real names. That's just sad. We haven't edited the grammar, just started making pages. And then youth group is, thank goodness, almost done for the year. There's just this weekend, a board meeting, and maybe a minor event. Thank you G-d.
Gaia. Gaia is as much a commitment as it is a stress-reliever. I have responsibilities to my roleplaying pets and their respective shops and communities, and because of the above I've had to declare a semi-hiatus for this month and next. But I feel guilty for being so behind.

I guess I just needed to rant a bit. That, and I need to read more. Reading is my main stress-reliever, and I depend on it so badly. Seriously, I get withdrawal when I can't find anything to read. I was almost shaking yesterday, and actually used my senior lunch release to go home and get a fucking book to read.

Thanks to all those people who actually read all that shit. You guys are awesome.

So I went to Traffic Court today. Because of this accident I was in back in December. I was in the left turn lane, and was making my left turn, and this idiot in the other left turn lane decides to go straight. His van gets minimal damage and my dad's sportcar is totaled. Life sucks...right? I mean, since I was turning and he was going straight...I get a ticket for "failure to yield--left turning." Isn't there a law that defends me against idiots who can't read the paint? But no...since I can't remember exactly what happened, though the debris is too close to the middle of the road for the guy to have been in the straight lane, I get ticketed, and the other guy drives off.
---------------------------------------- -------

I feel very guilty lately...but bowling's nearly over. I'll have my life back in a week at most.

Prepare then, for an onslaught of sticky-notes. I've finished the yellow ones and have started in on the blue. I'm running out of room in my folder.

I also want to scan in the stuff I've been doing in computer arts studio. I'm very proud of it.

When I get a chance, I'm going to clear out some of these journal entries and put some of my gallery into storage.

I actually submitted pictures to Whispers this year. The deadline was today, so since the teacher liked them, I'll throw in sticky-note pics next year. I think everyone's going to groan as I've made so incredibly many of them. I'd like to sit with the teacher and go through which ones I should and shouldn't submit, so that I don't completely overwhelm and bore my peers.

Otherwise, I live. And Apollo's so damn full of it. He deserved to fall in love with a tree.

"So how was the tournament yesterday?"
"What tournament?"
"The one in Rockford."
"What tournament?"
"You did go to Rockford, right?"
"Yes."
"So how was the tournament?"
"What tournament?"
"...rrgh!"
"Keheheh...it was cancelled."
"What!?"
"Seriously, we found out around 10 PM on Friday night that it was cancelled."
"But...why?"
"Because of all the snow."
"..."
"Yeah, but we did bowl yesterday. State is going to be there, after all."
"Yeah..."
"And just guess who we saw there."
"Who?"
"Libertyville, Warren, Zion-Benton..."

The above conversation took place today when I ran into a teammate at Barnes & Noble this afternoon. Just guess which of the people is me.

And most of the teams were already out there! And they still wouldn't hold the frikkin' tournament!

I really should complain less. Lets look at the positives in life.

I got two manga today. IY vol. 20 and the hardbound Akira. That was on the clearance table and cost me no more than a paperback novel.

I'm bowling at Lake Zurich tomorrow. On Varsity. Since I'm the only person who went to Rockford and is also bowling at LZ, I'm either leadoff or anchor for Varsity tomorrow. I really don't want to be anchor. Too much pressure.

Galerus, my pet hat on Gaia, is going to evolve as soon as I wrap up that damn RP. But then I'll have two months of crap to catch up on....

New semester starts tomorrow. I got Woodworking I changed to Computer Arts Studio. Didn't even know they offered the latter. Good thing I got up the courage to change my schedule. Speaking of which, I need the new one by the end of second period, or I won't know where my new class is located.

AND JUST BECAUSE WE GOT 15+ INCHES OF SNOW DOES NOT MEAN THAT SUNDAY SCHOOL IS CANCELLED. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS, YOU IDIOTIC PARENTS, AND STOP MAKING ME ANSWER THE PHONE!

I think I feel better now. ^^

Tryouts are over, no cuts this year (thank goodness) but no teams have been announced yet. Seniors designed our shirts and I hate them. We have to wear neon pink. I despise pink, all the shades thereof as well. Cogar gets to wear blue 'cause he's a guy and AC. Lucky him. At least this year seniority snagged me medium uniforms and warm-ups. Unlike some freshmen who got stuck with the XXL and XXXL warm-ups...

Yesterday I spent my Veteran's Day out of the house. First, because we...*ahem*...suffered vandalism. And I got soaked at 7 AM cleaning up some of it. Then, because we drove three hours downstate to Peoria. That's 'cause Bradley University is down there. And that's one of the colleges I'm looking at. It's really neat, and if I'd ever had a dream school, I think Bradley would be it. I'm not just saying that...it's got everything that I love in my highschool: size, activities, programs, relationships...and the coolest dorms! Now, I haven't seen a lot of dorms yet, but I really like these. There are, of course, other colleges that I will visit...but so far so good!

There's something going on at Temple on Sunday that isn't school-related. Because of that, I'll have to park across the street in the forest preserve. Meh. As if it's not already cold enough just walking through the parking lot.

Playing tag in kayaks is fun. Next time I'll have to be faster to avoid getting tagged.

It's true. I'm actually quite pissed. I have to find another stick and something else for gym tomorrow, my sister's having a Halloween party in our basement and has invited the one girl in the school that I can't stand, and my sister tackled me last night and broke my friggin' tooth!

I'll post a pic of how it was broken after the film is developed...and hope that it didn't happen just because I happen to have a dentist appointment this morning.

So, I'm sorry for being gone again and again and again, it really only makes more work for myself. This time I have some plausible excuses though.

On Saturday I had league (duh) and later my mom had all of us in the basement, cleaning up for said Halloween party. This consisted of putting loose items into cardboard and plastic boxes, and then moving said boxes into the crawlspace. And guess what I got to do. I got to be the person crouched in the crawlspace for over an hour, moving boxes and bins around. I also found a few things while I was down there: an autographed photograph of some cityscape, a used napkin, wallpaper from the previous owner, a screen door or window of the wrong size for anything in the house from the previous owner, part of a bedframe from the previous owner, a leather suitcase from the previous owner, and a souvenier knife of my dad's. All but the leather suitcase and bedframe were removed. And y'know...the previous owner moved out before I was born.

I liked the knife, and I asked my dad if I could take it and polish it up a bit, it being sort of like my reward for spending over an hour bent in half. My sister was jealous, but she only had to stuff stuff into boxes and bins. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the knife after I find some oil to clean the blade, but I'm thinking of hanging it on a wall.

Yesterday I had to go to the forest preserve across the street after I finished work. (Preserve is across the street from work.) I have this assignment to find the proper tools on my own in nature for making a spindle-and-drill fire. Peh, give me a match any day.

I spent last night listening to three of four parts of The War of the Worlds, the Musical Version and taking apart my Sesame Street clubhouse. Yes, I have a Sesame Street clubhouse that I am too selfish to give to my baby cousin-once-removed and I am proud of it. It's not completely disassembled yet, I need a smaller wrench, but it's mostly done. But I do still have the fourth part of the story to listen to, and my dad to bug for a smaller wrench.

And today is Columbus Day and I have a dentist appointment in an hour and thirty-two minutes. After that I plan to collect another stick and thing for my assignment, maybe look up vocab for tomorrow's quiz, and then spend the afternoon and evening catching up online.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!! As of 11 AM, CST, my tooth was fixed. But the dentist says it'll be uber-sensitive for the next week, and I'll have to be careful about biting from now on. Later today I plan to take my film in to be developed, and I'll post the pictures I took within the week...I hope.

Yeah, that was the general concensus of my 8th period gym class. I'm in Outdoor Education, the gym class that does a lot of cool stuff. Really, we do. We get to start fires, cook, put up tents, put the kayak in the swimming pool, use the high ropes course and climbing wall and do other neat things that I can't remember.

We're in our climbing unit now, and today we were climbing the panther pole. It's a pole (bet you couldn't guess that), rather like a long thin box with a width of about eight inches, and it has little metal...rings? arches?...things I can use as hand and foot holds and a small platform at the top. Six to eight people are needed to hold the thing up straight, and the person climbing is in a fullbody harness and attatched to a nice, strong rope. You climb up and stand on the platform, then jump off and trust your weight to the teacher (as the belayer). It's really freaky to be standing on that platform with nothing to hold on to, but it's really cool. So I can say I've done that.

Anyway, we were finishing up the flying squirrel today, which is where you're in the same fullbody harness and helmet (which I forgot to mention earlier and am too lazy to go edit in) and you get hoisted into the air by eight of your class mates. The rope is going through a pully hanging from the rafters. Here you may begin to suspect what happened today in gym.

I was helping to hold up the pole and lower it down when I happened to look up and see the flying squirrel rope. The knot was halfway up...and no way to get it down. The teacher demanded to know who did it, but all he got was one kid saying he didn't. He sent one of the girls out to get a pole-vaulting pole.

The girl came back a few minutes later, when we'd finished putting the panther pole and such away, and the teacher tried to hook the knot with the pole. In the end, the knot flew all the way up to the pully, and the teacher was uber-frustrated. He went over to the storage and pulled out two half-harnesses and threw one to a girl I know is a good climber.

My suspicions were confirmed when the two surveyed the climbing wall and then unlooped the rope closest to the rafter beam that the pully was on. With her as his belayer, the teacher swiftly climbed the wall and began the slow process of hooking himself to each crosstree and moving slowly outward to the pully in the center of the room. By the time school ended, he had gotten to the rope, pulled it out and let the knot fall, and started back.

So, that was gym today. On Thursday my Latin class has decided to ignore the class color war and dress up as power rangers. Our teacher is Zordona, a powerful goddess whom you should not displease.

I apologize to all those people I watch; I'm sorry that I can't take the time to do more than look at everything you put up. But I still look!

My life's so full lately...yet I'm always napping in study hall...how the hell does that work?

I've written a couple poems, one that I  really want to get up here, but I'm too  lazy to dig it out of my backpack.  I  feel so ashamed that I'm really  procrastinating about this.  u.u;;

Yesterday I got to see my cousin's baby. He's a week old today and cute as anything. After that, my family went to Gurnee Mills, and I bought some stuff. A burgundy courduroy skirt and a nice tan top to go with it, and angel wings. Yeah, I know, you guys are all looking at me crazy because I said that I bought angel wings at the mall. Well, I did. They're for a cosplay costume I've had in mind for a while now. I'll wear it on Halloween and hopefully to ACEN. But that's in May...so I hope said wings do not get destroyed in the months between. I still need to make a halo, and there's no bloody twine in the house. That means I need to get over to Hobby Lobby and buy some, but not until later tonight, after rush hour's past.

Kiriban sketch for anyone who can tell me the name of the character I'm going as, and the anime they're from. Hint: I've listed three items I'll be wearing as part of the costume.

On another note: I should be getting a paycheck soon. I started working as an office brat at my temple. Yesterday was the third week of Sunday School.

-.-; Let's see what's been going on. On the 12th, it was the very first day, and I volunteered (for the bonus) to be there at 7:45 AM. The phones start ringing then, and don't stop until about 1 PM. Early session starts at 8:30 AM. Of course I got stuck with phone duty that week. It was mostly: "Do I need to go to Sunday School with my son/daughter?" "Parents are invited to attend." There was also Maot Chitim, a group of some kind that was supposed to make a delivery to someone who had recently moved out of the area, and so they had to drop it off with us. Too much confusion ensued from roughly six or eight phonecalls from them. There were also two I personally liked: "How do I get to Cooper?" and "How do I get to the temple?" Cooper I can understand. It's the middle school that allows the temple to use its classrooms on Sundays because we don't have enough room in the actual temple building for all seven (or eight, depending on scheduling) grades. I was...rather frustrated at the end, especially because I didn't get a bagel. D:<

On the 19th, I arrived again at a quarter 'til eight in the morning. I got phone duty...but only long enough to learn that one of the TA's was sick and couldn't come in that week. Then, I got to make the Giraffe booklets. They're for the sixth graders, over at Cooper, and they needed them on the 12th. We need to photocopy (double-sided) 87 sheets of paper per booklet. The paper with three pre-punched holes as well. And then we put these uber-thick booklets into empty and ugly gray binders. And that is what I did all day long. I'll spare you the details of running back and forth between the copier (that has serious issues--it's totally possessed) and the storage room behind room one. Yes, the name of that room is the storage room behind room one. Or the storage room behind the multipurpose room. Or the storage room behind rooms one and two. And that's where all the paper, the extra binders, the extra textbooks and the kids High Holy Day prayerbooks were kept that week. Of course, only the stupid prayerbooks aren't normally kept there. I think they live in the tutoring room downstairs...but I could be wrong. So, yeah. That was last week.

Yesterday I again came at 7:45 AM. This is one of my weekly jobs now. Coming in early to make sure the phones are attended to. I also got my other weekly jobs: I get to fix the booklets for the b'nai mitzvot every week (though I don't have to photocopy a hundred of them, thank goodness) and I get to change the board in the foyer to reflect the week's activities. Not too bad. Of course, they can always pull me for odd jobs (figuring out who the keys that were found on Yom Kippur belong to and contacting them, finding the Cantor's father's keys and such) and as a substitute TA if no one else is available, but overall it's not so bad.

Oh yeah. A kid vomited yesterday. On another kid. And the girl (barfed-on) lived too far away for her parents to come and bring her a change of pants (they found a sweatshirt she could wear in the lost and found). The boy also barfed on himself, and one of the other guys in the office was conned into donating his undershirt. Eew. So one of the teachers, who lived about fi...

When I was in eighth grade, thinking about the classes I wanted to take freshman year, I thought about how busy people claimed junior year was. I looked at all the mandatory classes for graduation, required credits, and grades permitted to take various classes. I decided, still in eighth grade, that I would do all I could to give myself a light load of classes for that all-important junior year. I told myself I'd skip out on a social studies class freshman year, and take Geography sophomore year. I decided I'd take US History the summer before junior year and have a study hall. And I stuck to that plan like glue.

Now, I'm really grateful for that. Especially since I've just taken on yet another set of responsibilities. Here's my list so far:

Anime (Wed Only)
Whispers (Thur Only atm)
Bowling League (Sat AM Only)
Office Work @ Temple (Mon PM or Tue PM or Sun AM depending)
Bowling Team (Mon-Thur & some Sat all winter sport season)

I am so glad I haven't committed myself to anything else, or I might not get my homework done. This way, I have only one club or job scheduled on any one day, leaving plenty of time for homework (I hope). I'm crossing my fingers and praying that the SAT/ACT class in Jan/Feb will fit into this easily.

Why am I boring you with all the crap I'm doing this year? Well, I'm not sure and kudos to anyone who's bothered to read all of my rambling. Maybe it's to get that horrendously long journal off of my userpage. Maybe I feel that telling you lot will take some of the burden off of my metaphorical shoulders. Maybe I'd rather waste time typing this than writing down when my Latin quizzes are. Maybe I'm just a blockhead. But I do know that whatever else I may or may not be, whatever committments I may or may not make, there is one thing that I know for a fact: I HAVE A BLOODY FRIKKIN' COLD!

Even though I've already woken up after having collapsed on my bed for a good eleven hours, I'm still madly hyper after my last five days. I went to another big Jew event. Went up to Oconomowoc, which is actually the site of the original premier of The Wizard of Oz in 1939 (thank you Daily Herald), where OSRUI is. Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute is a big Jew camp and one of my fave places to be.

Now, I'd love to bore you with detailed accounts of all the lovely people I met and saw again, like that guy who I went to camp with three years ago, the two girls and the counselor in my unit two years ago, all the people that were late from my temple and BATY, my best friends from NO, and so on and so forth. But, since you guys don't know them, I won't go into further detail.

I did make some sketches up until I lost my pencil (T___T), and so I will include explanations with those that will be left out of here. Of course, I still have to scan them in at the moment, and I'm sure you guys remember how much of a procrastinator I am.

On Wednesday we all arrived, and CAR region was late as usual. At least I got a better choice of bunks than last summer...and there's something to be said for that. We had our first mixer, with homemade fortune cookies that had obscure words in them. They included the word meaning a fear of clowns and "futtock."

On Thursday we had our first two limuds, discussing abortion in the morning and same-sex marriages in the afternoon. It was fun, but I wish it hadn't been all discussion. In the evening we had Comedy Sportz! There were three of them, and they were really good. Their second game was a Spelling Bee with the "champions" of Arkansas. When the one guy said "spelling bee"...people began snapping the fingers and saying "Ch, ch ch ch, ch ch ch, ch ch ch..." like we were trying to delay the announcements. We stopped though, as Comedy Sportz couldn't be there all night. The guy gave us a funny look and said he'd never been around a group of kids that suddenly broke into song. Lots of giggles there. Anyway, he called on us for various words to be spelled. Some called out "futtock" and he gave us another funny look. Then a board member gave him her sheet from the night before. He gave his partners and volunteer from the audience an evil glance and picked a word off of the list that was so hard, he couldn't even pronounce it. Like we could either though. They failed miserably of course. It was a fun evening though.

On Friday was our Mitzvah Corps, where we go into the community in five groups to do various good deeds. I wanted to do casriel, or sorting food for the hungry, but they were already booked for that day. This is good, because it means a lot of other groups are volunteering their time and effort to help, but bad because it's my fave thing to do for Mitzvah Corps. So I was in Teva, Nature. I heard that last year they were cutting down some huge trees. This year, we got to walk through some tall prarie grass cutting thistle. Yuck. There were a lot of little things that stuck to my pants and stabbed me through my jeans. Owwwie. After lunch though, we got more fun stuff to do. We went down by Lake Michigan and got to lop down some larger stuff. Specifically, young black locust trees. This was considerably more fun that cutting thistle or pulling queen ann's lace. Anyway, someone figured out that black locust wood is really cool once you've peeled off the outer layer of bark. It's very pale, and smells like cucumbers when it's still damp with sap. It's also very dense and hard. Our guide/volunteer instructor told us that it's very good for furniture building, even if the trees aren't so great for preventing erosion.

After we got back to camp, we had the same two hours for showering and crap before Shabbat as we'd had in Chavurah. Shame they ended the unit. Anyway, Teva wasn't the last back for once. I think one of the kids' clubs groups was last back. Either way, I waited and got a nice hot shower all to myself. My friend Ally from Chavurah and I had been fantasizing about how nice the hot water would feel after all that physical work we'd done on the bus ride back. And other than some small differences, Shabbat was pretty much the same as it always is. There were still a ton of people getting ready with hair straighteners, though not so many curlers, still a lot of debate over shoes, tops, skirts, etc. There were still an insane amount of pictures while waiting for the boys, there was still the parade of...

Those are zambonis. My mom thought they might be trying to demonstrate something, 'cause there were posters on the sides. I couldn't look...I was driving. I said they might be striking. Thank You ([link])
Happily Ever After ([link])
Humans ([link])
Who to Watch ([link])

Red Marble ([link]) also made it in, but was considered too graphic to be printed. Oops.

So if any of you want to see the stuff the lit mag crew thought was good, seven of the eight above-mentioned poems are found here on DA.

I've decided to do a kiriban for the person to show me a screenshot of 1038 pageveiws. Why the strange number? That's what page of a certain edition of the Torah my portion was on.

So yesterday I stayed afterschool for Anime Pilot and a publications awards dinner. My friend Justin, better known to you as or , was watching me unload my backpack for no particular reason when he said: "Oh my god, it does exist!" I looked like this: . Then I realized what he was talking about. The squashed object that I had just removed, my lunchbox. Suprise suprise, it looks just like my avatar.

So then we had to explain to Orzoff and the rest of the table that I made an oekaki pic of my lunchbox and used it as my avatar, and for some reason Justin didn't think I would actually use the lunchbox every day. Orzoff approved of it even more when I explained it's secondary use...that of whacking idiot jocks who ask me out only to humiliate me. What can I say? I love my lunchbox.

I am quite amazed. I hadn't picked up a bowling ball in at least a month since the last time...two or three months since the season ended. Here's what happened.

Today was a half day, so school was out before noon. Around 2 I had a dentist appointment --Bleah! After the dentist appointment, I noticed that my mom turned onto a side road that went by the bowling alley. She told me that her new ball had finally come in.

(Side note: Because my coach threatened me about bowling over the summer, my mom and I joined a generation gap league for the summer...seeing as I had used and outgrown her old ball, she decided to get a new one. Thus, the pickup.)

The idea was to bowl a couple games so that my mom could adjust to the new ball, and have any necessary adjustments made. The first game, I got a 133...normal, considering the last few weeks of the season, and better than I'd expected. It took my mom about half the game to adjust to the new ball. Then we played a second game to make sure of everything. I got a 208. A 208! I wanted to shout to the world that I GOT A 208!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yeah, I'm very proud of my new high, and I'm going to shove the printout in the face of everybody I know.

I dislike sticks. And I hate mud. So why on earth did I just spend the last three-quarters of an hour walking through mud and picking up sticks!? I must be crazy! Now there's mud splatters from ankle to knee on one of my fave pairs of jeans, my cruddy old shoes are going to have to have mud chipped off of them for the second time in a month (once the mud dries, that is), and my socks are soaked through! *growls*

And then I tried putting on my sandles...only to find that there's still sand in them! T_T
Oh, yeah. Kudos to anyone who guessed I did it because I'm a greedy bitch; my mom's paying me.
