It's that time of year again every summer I seem to discover that someone has been using work from this site without permission... It's a sad state of affairs when you discover that there are still some people incapable of an original thought and feel that taking work without permission is ok.

It is NOT ok to take my work without express permission first!

As a professional illustrator for some years now I have found it essential to use a solicitor (and would advise all my fellow creatives to use one as well). My solicitor is on hand to provide the paperwork necessary to prosecute anyone caught doing the following without my express permission:

Copying my work

Tracing my work

Selling my work

Passing my work off as your own

My work maybe used however without permission in ONE exception, as a feature promoting either myself Simon Corry or Mylaststar. Examples of such use would be on a site like www.itsnicethat.com/ or www.design-milk.com/... Even when used in such a way the intellectual property of all work remains copyright Simon Corry.

I always used to feel terrible making a point of this but it seems in this industry sadly you cannot afford to be shy about such matters and so I must take a firm stand against anyone who would try to damage my intellectual property.

As ever though I am fully aware that it is only a handful of miscreants who are responsible for ruining everyone else's enjoyment and the majority of us are just here to play by the rules.

Please feel free to leave your thoughts on this matter...

this is just me and the art of colouring in...

hello,

my name is Simon Corry and i'm a freelance illustrator and web designer from the United Kingdom.

i specialize in children's / kids illustration and my work has ranged from promotional and educational material to website and multimedia design (CD/DVD & animation).

my work can also be found in more diverse forms and many of my illustrations have been featured in projects that have been both compelling and challenging today's current climate.

i have a wide birth of skills from illustration & graphic design right through to multimedia practices and programing.

within my design field i work through a variety of mediums some of the most common include: a mechanical pencil, professional Marsmatic Fineliners, Letraset ProMarkers & Tria Markers and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash & InDesign.

The 365 drive...

hello,

In the midst of getting ready to launch the brand new mylaststar 'a world unlike any other' campaign, i thought it would be interesting to do a funky count down.

Now it seems the new fashion accessory for every self respecting illustrator this year is the 1 a day design for 365 days.

Turning that concept on it's head i'm going to put up one piece a day from every week I've been drawing the mylaststar collection. I will do this all the way into 2009 when the new world of mylaststar will be launched.

That means there will be a chance to see some of my pieces from yonks ago (and some never before posted online).

trogs.

This was the first illustration to feature the Trog's (a strange race of creatures living on floating islands in the Ketlle system, the main stars of the mylaststar universe) it was released in the early part of 2005 as part of web teaser set for the launch of mylaststar v.4.

All I've ever wanted from my work is to put a smile on people's faces and I hope if your reading this I've achieved that

We're better alive!

Hello!

So it's been around 3 and a half months since my accident, i feel much better and i'm no longer walking on crutches!

With good health comes great responsibility and as such i have to sort out all legal figgywiggyness for my new coffee shop / gallery.

Babahogs was due to open a couple of months ago but i decided i'd rather open it when i was fit and ready and so hopefully it should be opening (one way or another) Sat 19th July.

Babahogs will consist of a lounge style coffee shop on the ground floor with space to chill out and sketch away to your hearts content.

The upper floor will house the official babahogs gallery displaying work from a huge mix of artists around the country.

How the gallery works...

I will be taking five artists and displaying a selection of their personal work for a total of four weeks.

Over the course of the four weeks the public will have a chance to vote (and purchase) the work on display. At the end of the four weeks the votes will be counted and the winner will have a one week solo show in the gallery.

The artist will then have the option to have a selection of their work professionally printed and displayed in galleries for sale in Falmouth, Plymouth, Bristol and possibly London.

It will be FREE to exhibit and anyone can apply! Your work will be assessed and if your successful we will invite you to come along and display!

I'm currently recruiting artists in the uk interested in exhibiting, it is FREE to exhibit and absolutely anyone can apply, so what are you waiting for drop me a line if your interested!

Update - 26/05/08

I've been out of hospital for just over a week now and begining
to get things back together again.

I should be going home to Falmouth for good this Saturday
providing I keep getting better.

Babahogs, my arts cafe and shop has not been forgotten,
far from it. Durring my time in hospital a giant plan was
devised to get it ready and even better then before!

The grand opening will be 7th June 2008

Simon, the artist, has had a serious accident on his motorbike.

He's got a broken pelvis and injuries to his kidneys. There was internal bleeding but that's been taken care of. He'll be in hospital for at least 4 weeks.

When he's able to sit up we'll be connecting him to the 'net again so watch out for a Trogs picture depicting the accident.

Mean while he'd appreciate any positive waves you can throw his way.

Leave a message here and we'll pass it on to him in hospital.

Last time i told you folks that i was intending on opening a shop
in Falmouth, UK, well after a serious load of paper work
and a large amount of money i've started work on
making it a reality!

There's a serious load of work to do and we're right in the
middle of it but if all goes according to plan babahogs
will be open for the 1st May!

What's it going to be like?

Well...

The shop has two levels the ground floor will be an
exclusive arts boutique & coffee shop while the
upstairs will be a gallery space dedicated to
displaying new and existing artists from all
over!

before we started work on redecorating

Ladies, Gentleman and everyone else!

I'm pleased to announce that I am intending to open a shop
in the heart of Falmouth, UK!

It's going to be two levels with a gallery space to hire upstairs
and an exclusive arts boutique & coffee shop downstairs.

Wow... it's been a busy summer, had a great time with my beautiful girlfriend (: although we only got about a weeks worth of sun in rainy old england but it was still warm!

Found a new job this summer as a graphic designer for web design company in Falmouth, UK, been spending most of my time working which is why the works been a little scarce of late.

It's back to Uni next week which means more open briefs and more fun no doubt.

Anyone else have a good summer?

Anywho grand new plans on the horizon for September onwards. Some of you might already have noticed a new range I've started to release over the last two weeks, it really focuses on mylaststar as a world and opens up new regions and new characters, this is all because i'm putting together a massive interactive online site dedicated to the world of mylaststar, although the road to get there is going to be long I can promise you it's going to be worth the wait as mylaststar will be unlike any other (:
