Well.   In the past 24 hours, we've had a total of 4 sets of severe thunder and lightning storms, and our power went out.  This wouldn't be so bad except it's hot and humid as well.  But the last (and worst) of the storms that shook our house and set our hairs on end threw out our power for hours.   What do you do when there's nothing working?   Well, my digital camera still worked.

I set the quality at its worst, the smallest size, and proceeded to take a LOT of pictures of black sky.  I won't post them all here, but they looked like this:

I've just posted a new painting which I would like to discuss more about - you may be seeing future works with some of my techniques pictured there in the future.

The majority of the painting was created using a small, semi-round hard brush, (located in my myntibrush vol II) through a series of scribbles and random markmaking.   You can see the details of the painting in my scraps:

Well I have come to be writing to you at this ungodly hour because despite all efforts on my part, I have failed to fall asleep.   It's not that I'm not disgustingly tired, it's just that my brain won't stop working.   Have you ever experienced that?   I hope not.  Usually curling up with a good book will cure me of that, but I've devoured two books already and I'm tired of reading.

Had a crazy thanksgiving last night...  I cooked my first turkey.   Making preparation for my mom's trip and her birthday...

6 (actually, 7) weird habits of the Mint.

1 - I can't drink coffee straightaway when I wake up, or I am a ball of jittery energy for the rest of the day.

Okay, so now that the holidays are over, I can't wait to kick out everything on my ginormous list of things to do and get back to the community again.

So, what have I been up to?  Well, a lot of work, and a lot of craziness.  I'll give you the craziness.

It started out with the crazy partying when I went to the BT concert.  Drinking long islands before the thing even starts = Drunk Gracie.   My sister and mom came with me, and we had fun, though my mom cut out early and left 'cause she was tired.

Em and I went to a few smaller, more mellow get-togethers, and had some fun.

So, my sister walks into the kitchen, and yells at me to come look.  There is smoke coming from the back of the dishwasher.  Oh joy.   We run around for a few minutes like chickens with our heads cut off, try to see what's going on, and then we call the fire department.

All said and done, everything is cool.   We're still not exactly sure what caused it, probably a spark, they said.  My computer survived, there was no real big damage, and I grabbed my tablet before I we "evacuated" :paranoid:  Just in case!

My uncle is stabilized and undergoing medical care, I visited him yesterday and I feel relieved to know he will be okay.

I'm also happy to report that I'll be attending the BT concert, I'll be one of the featured artists at the Philadelphia show at the World Cafe Live.  Let me know if you're planning to attend, I've love to meet up with some Philly deviants!

An update on his condition.   My uncle Sean has arrived safely here in Philadelphia, and is staying here with me until he can be admitted into the hospital on Monday.   He's sleepin right now, the flight seemed hard on him, but I hope he's okay.  It feels good to just have him here so we can all baby him and help him out with the simple things.

Hi darlins!

Well, where have I been lately?   Mostly working my butt off, not sleeping much.   Been kind of a crazy week.   I've been cooking up lots of stock for the upcoming templates, I hope to knock some out tonight once I go through my message centre.

Below is a showcase some of the deviants who have taken my CSS and templates and come up with some beautiful journals of their own.   This is totally in the spirit of what I'm trying to do, and I really enjoy seeing this sort of thing come from my quick CSS work.

Thanks for all the support.   I am still a little pissed at whomever was giving out my MSN, but I've solved the issue by setting some of the settings on MSN to make it more difficult on people.   Don't be offended, it's just a girl likes some peace and quiet sometimes.

I'm working on a few paintings today, most of which are in various stages of completion.

My first portrait was killed in a crash, which wiped a few of the files I was working on while the crash happened.  (That should teach me not to work with so many large files at once..)

The good news is that the restarted portrait is about ten times better than the first one.   What stinks though, is I lost about 10 hours of work.   The new one is going faster, I'm more than half-through completing it.

So, that's how life goes.
