(The following rant is not about using the voicebank, creating fanworks, etc. It is a rant about character usage. Not voice, not image per se, but CHARACTER. As in personality, name and image together.)

UTAUloids are not Vocaloids. They are people's OCs.

The UTAU terms of service basically bind the right to use the UTAU to it's voicer and/or creator, unless otherwise stated. This is what separates Vocaloids from UTAUloids, aside from general software differences.

On Roleplaying

While it is true that many UTAU producers do not care if one were to portray their character in a Vocaloid or UTAU roleplay, there are some that do.

I know of people who are nervous about turning their fanloid into a genuine UTAUloid for the sole reason that it puts the character into the public eye, just as others (when I told them about my troubles) basically said "RP? Where can I sign up?" so as to not have their established character taken by someone else.

While it might be hard to contact, say, Yurika Sayu's seiyuu and ask HER permission (and unless you speak fluent Japanese in your roleplays I doubt she'd care at all) most of the overseas UTAU creators are just a hop skip and jump away on Youtube.

It's not that difficult, people.

I know a lot of UTAU creators link to their dA if they have one, but heck, their Youtube accounts are right there with a shiny "message" button! So please, no more "I didn't know s/he was on dA" excuses either...? -_-

There's even an ~UTAU-Federation (Created by the lovely ~Onaneko) that has a list of UTAU creator's dA accounts.

All I'm asking is that to prevent future confusion, it'd be lovely if Vocaloid and UTAU roleplay groups on dA put in their rules that overseas UTAUs must have permission from the creators. PLEASE.

Also, if you'll look at Aiko's Wikia page, I have added a notice about the use of her character and image in roleplays. It'd be great if other UTAU creators would put something on there like "I do care" or "I don't care" just so people know, since the UTAU Wiki is the main source of information on UTAUloids.

Just a couple of suggestions, who cares if anyone notices them, but I think they'd help a lot.

Overseas Utafest is back in business! after being temporarily left alone for another couple of projects, the OSUF journal has been updated, a Youtube has been made, and contests will be up shortly- possibly even later tonight!

In related news, the demos for the new Vocaloids are out, and I must say... I'm a little disappointed :/ both voice- and design-wise.

I adore Miki's design, and her voice is lovely, but it's a little too... GUMI-ish.

Yuki the loli schoolgirl's voice is a-frikkin-dorable, but just the fact alone that she was meant to be in the same series as a teacher turns me off. At least KAITO and Len's relationship is COMPLETELY unofficial since they were separate series... but loli schoolgirl... and adult teacher.... there WILL be Magnet and I will cry D8

Speaking of teacherloid, I was looking forward to him after I watched some videos of his voicer, Hikawa Kiyoshi (a famous enka singer) but after his demo... he's just like a Vocaloid2 KAITO with a less interesting design ;-;

...the designs! WTF! Even though Vocaloid is about singing, the designs are a selling point. Crypton proved that. So why... WHY... did AH make a series with a cutesy j-pop android diva... then turn around and make the other two so plain and in a completely different art style, yet release them ALL at the same time?

...what were they thinking? D8

EDIT: Miki's voice has grown on me a bit. Now I'm even hearing Rin in it. She's obviously a robot that mimics the voices of others... >_> *shot*

So... a very close friend of mine in real life has a younger sister in Latin. Said sister and her classmates got together and composed a brand new English word, using Latin roots: "in" (in or into) and "piscina" (pond)-- literally "into the pond."

Inpiscinate - to throw into a pond.

They have tried repeatedly to get their new word on wikipedia and wiktionary, only to be BLACKLISTED several times. And now... their attempts have been featured on a Wikipedia moderator's latest blog post.

Personally, I think this is absolutely hilarious, and I'm joining the fight to see "inpiscinate" as an actual word on wikipedia.

This is the first one that's backfired on me.

I just got billed $12 out of my freshly restocked Paypal. From, guess who, emusic's FREE TRIAL.

After looking around, it seems there's not much I can do, but just for the heck of it I'm filing with the BBB. The payment said "pending," so I went ahead and logged onto eMusic, cancelled my subscription (which they TOTALLY said wouldn't start unless I WANTED to subscribe after the trial) and then went back onto paypal and cancelled the billing connection. Who knows if it stopped the payment... somehow I seriously doubt it.

Apparently in their terms they say that they can bill you without notice, something they do not make clear on their "FREE TRIAL OHMAGAD" splash page.

Equally mad at myself as I am mad at them.

This is a rant that goes to all who would call someone who happens to like anime a "weaboo" or "wapanese."

And just in case I might have said something that offends someone, I am sorry, I really do not mean to offend anyone with the following and right now I don't think I see anything that would do so.

I like anime.

In fact, I like anime and manga. I play videogames, roleplay, and chat on Gaiaonline. I go to conventions.
I also like Law & Order and books over 200 pages without pictures. Also, I get good grades, enjoy astronomy, stalk msnbc.com, play the piano, and occasionally go camping.

I like Jpop and Jrock.
I also look up the translations, and I don't even know what half the artists I listen to look like. I also listen to French, German, Chinese, and OH MY GOD even American music. Who knew?

I like Vocaloid and UTAU.
I also like human singers and I agree that a lot of the 'loids can sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks at times.

I like ramen, sushi, pocky, ramune, and miso soup.
I also like Chow Mein, fried catfish, Hersheys Kisses, Mountain Dew, and clam chowder.

I'd like to visit Japan someday.
But I'd rather live in Boston.

I am not rich.
I am actually below middle class.

I write fanfiction and do fanart.
I also write original fiction and draw original art. And I don't ship mortal enemies as lovers.

I draw in an "anime" style.
I also draw in American cartoon and naturalistic styles.

I sometimes speak in Japanese with friends.
And though I am not to the level of an actual conversation, I have a vocabulary that exists beyond "NEKO-CHAN NO BAKA KAWAII DESU NE ^_^" Heck, I can even read hiragana and some kanji. Go me.

I know there is more to Japan than anime, manga, video games and Jpop.
I love reading about Japan's history and culture from legit, non-manga sources, and I own books about everything from Japanese fine literature, to samurai, to Shinto.

I agree that anime is cartoons.
I agree that manga and other "graphic novels" are comics.

I prefer the subs and raws.
Because the dubs usually suck, with the exceptions of DBZ , Tekkonkinkreet, and Yu Yu Hakusho.

And oh, look, Tekkonkinkreet. Oh my, I actually like an anime that DOESN'T have shounenai-bishie-nekoboys and moe loli-chans.

So that animation I just uploaded, I tried to email it to my instructor. I think I might have instead emailed it to my entire psychology class. That's a fail animation going out to 400+ of my fellow students. It's not like many of them know who I am IRL... nor is it the same as when it's online... but it's like... ARGH.... *bangs head against wall*

Aiko is my voice, my design and my intellectual property. You may use her art in videos (AND VIDEOS ONLY) WITH MY PERMISSION and you may roleplay as her in RP communities (other than ) WITH MY PERMISSION (and the latter doesn't mean I'll give it if I end up joining any other RP groups!)

Just addressing this before anything else happens. I'll be posting a youtube notice about it soon as well, possibly, because there's nothing that bugs me more than internet copyright issues.

We stopped, and searched, and lo and behold found a tiny Siamese mix kitten under the engine. It had ridden all the way from my aunt's place under the engine and it was perfectly fine!

We're giving her to my other aunt who wanted to take Grady and Lise when my mom moved (she and I both refuse to give them up xD)

The kitten's mother is a calico that lives near my WV aunt's house.

The anime looks like it will be spectacular. Animation is top-notch, the art is beautiful, and heck... it's the closest thing to a Vocaloid anime out there. Not to mention I'm fairly sure Miku (at least her voice) will be making appearances, and hopefully not just in the theme songs.

It's an adoptables topsites list. I'd been looking for one to put Krystalixa on, but all the others seemed Neopets, pixel pets, or Pokemon-specific.

The topsites features a forum where you can chat about anything adoptables related, with special boards for posting clickable/leveling adoptables and another for advertising Squiby profiles.

'Course, since I didn't really code it, I take no credit. But it certainly has some nice features ^^

I do hope some people with adoptables sites join it. I want to try to make it the most complete adoptables list on the net.

I've been searching for a decent RK roleplay board for months now. I've been to Gaia, to Fanfiction.net, and to countless webrings and proboards, and yet everything I find hasn't been updated since around 2006. The latest Livejournal post in the Battousai-sama RuroKen community, once possibly the most active, was May of last year.

This makes me sad. RK may have been concluded almost a decade ago, but NO WAY does that mean that it doesn't make for fun roleplays and fanfiction! It's a great story, and the time period and setting just make things even better. The time period spans decades, through Japan's isolation, then a hugely bloody civil war, then development into an industrialized nation! Okay, so I went a little history-geek there. But think about it! If the bakumatsu isn't the perfect time period for all kinds of dark, romance, action, and adventure-oriented roleplays, then I don't know what is.

To satisfy my wishes for a RuroKen-based roleplay community, I made a forum, but now... I don't really even have anywhere to advertise it. The forums are collecting dust, the fansites are never updated, and the webrings are strung together by a few loose threads of broken links and images. Heck, when was the last time Rurouni Kenshin the Soap Opera updated on Youtube?! ;-;

There still has to be some fanbase out there! There are still amazing RK fanfics written, no matter how few and far apart they are. I never fail to see an RK roleplayer at MTAC. Hopefully, there are some remaining fans willing to participate in the semi-revival of one of the best anime fandoms out there.

If, however, you'd rather put on your metal-plated headband and go hop around in some trees, by all means have fun.

But if you miss the good old days of anime... please consider joining..?

Several months (yes, MONTHS) ago, I posted a stupid chain letter around dA. That Timmy one? Yeah...

I only posted it on plz accounts, which are spam magnets anyway.

Yeah, I posted I think 8 different times. I spammed. I probably should have been banned. I still feel stupid and immature for doing that.

And it comes back to haunt me nearly every day because people feel the need to spam me back, even months after the fact.

Seriously, that was AGES ago. You'd have to click back to like the eleventh page or something to even FIND my post. I haven't posted any chains since. And I'm still getting hate messages from it. I usually delete them, or reply to them if they're particularly funny.

I wish there was a way to delete posts you've made on other people's accounts...

To the latest person to reply, at least you just said I should be banned, and not "gtfo and die plz" or "lol pedobear needs to assrape u and timmy" or something, like certain others. I thank you for being discreet o_o

Sekamu and I went to see Nickelback at the Sommet Center for the kickoff of their Dark Horse tour~ it was my first rock concert and I'm still reeling @_@ I LOVED IT SO MUCH ;3;

Sekamu and her dad came and picked me up at around 6:30 PM. On the way there, our conversation somehow turned to AP Literature o_o And as we sat there, discussing great works such as M. Butterfly and A Streetcar Named Desire, I had an ADHD moment and glanced out the window at a brightly colored 18-wheeler passing us by... only to notice Inuyasha.

It was a freaking MANGA truck xDDDDDDDDD

The covers of the first volumes of Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, and a bunch of others were all painted on the side of the trailer... here we were, discussing great American literature, and we're passed by a manga truck... it was so random and hilarious 8D

At the Sommet Center, we actually got amazing seats, about three rows from the back of the first tier or level or whatever you'd call it. Saving Abel was first.... I actually hadn't heard much of their music, but they were excellent 8D Next was Seether.... We spazzed when they started "Broken"... especially since a few minutes before Sekamu kept thinking she saw a dark-haired woman on stage (we think now it was stage crew, since she/he/it kept going on and offstage between songs).... of course we were both thinking Amy Lee which would not have happened in a million years, but hey, we were hyper.... *o* Also, their transitions between songs sounded so weird..... "THEY'RE SUMMONING ALIENS!" xDDDDDDDD

Then Nickelback came on.... the stage was incredibly dynamic with a moving drumset and STUNNING (and LOUD) pyrotechnics.... Chad Kroeger had an amazing stage presence... and reminded me a lot of Dane Cook for some reason. Maybe it was the excessive use of "fuck" xD But OMG they were incredible... we both thought they'd play mostly Dark Horse songs, but they went and played "PHOTOGRAPH!!" And "How You Remind Me!" And "Animals!" And others that I actually know the lyrics to and and I just about died o3o

Not to mention that when Shaun Morgan came on and sang with the band.... he had BRIGHT red dyed hair and was wearing a brown jacket over a white shirt...... and at a certain angle looked an awful lot like a certain red-haired kappa.... Of course, then Sekamu had the mental image of Chad Kroeger in Sanzo robes~ xD

To end the show, they basically set off all the remaining pyrotechnics.... the flames were so huge we could feel the heat from them even as far up in the crowd as we were O______O And I got it all on video >D

Too bad the shirts were $35-$40.... and too bad I left my debit card at home ;3; They.... also had Dark Horse tour, uh... thongs o.o They kinda.... fit with a few of the Dark Horse songs, I guess, but.... wtf?! xD;

And so, I only got 5 hours total sleep last night 8D; And I have to do Econ test corrections today....

BUT OMG I NEED TO GO TO ANOTHER CONCERT! The CMA music festival and the other small concerts I've been to just don't compare to last night!!!
