it turns out that people like my photography better than my arts. those two pictures i recently submitted have been far more successful than my artworks in the same time, considering the favs you gave 'em. Now you might think that i am a sissy, thinking about changing my profession just because there have been two lucky shots.. But there is a funny coincidence: my photography lecturer at uni told me to think about it!

so do you think its because people can judge photos better and faster than complex digital artworks, or do you think i actually suck at photoshop and that i'd better stick to photography?

seriously, this is a question i am really facing at the moment..

and if its not enough, jason arber and co from Pixelsurgeon striked me an even harder blow when they decided to give their project the last gun salute after more than seven years a couple of weeks ago.

two great projects and everyday stops in my surfing routine have gone, may DIK, K10K etc be able to counterbalance the vacuum!

i NEED your help, so everybody just give me a short tip! patrick mcneil from designmeltdown.com asked me if he could feature my online profile yeahyoureright.com in his upcoming book. he claims that the book will "contain over 800 sites" featuring "the very best" artists. on the other hand he denied sending me a free copy when its done, as he claims he is "making next to nothing" with the book because of the time he is investing and stuff. so what would you do? the pros and contras in my eyes:

PRO:

- a free copy is part of a professional deal. even the FLK studio sent me a copy of their book, which was part of non-profit charity campaign

- this guy is making money with that book, hopefully

- nobody knows if that book really reaches the exposure for the artists, that it is supposed to, so a free copy would be nothing more than a compesation


CONTRA:

- a book with 800 of the very best designers? i dont even know 800 designers at all... (well, he claims that only ten of them will be in the portfolio style like mine)

- the legal infos on permission contract say that i am granting VERY explicit rights, see here...


so PLEASE, tell me what you think about it!

also i am definitely not granting that "This material may also be reproduced for advertising, publicity, or other means of promotion for the work." this might only happen with my explicit written permission, which you have to ask for.

in other words: i hereby permit you to use my website and its contents for the first print run of your book. my works may only be published in your book, if its publishment is restricted to the usa. for any future anthologies, compilations, derivations, revisions or editions you have to ask me for my explicit written permission.

i am still very busy with my intermediate examination for uni (only 3 three semesters to go afterwards), which i have to finish until friday. task is to create logo design/labels/website layout/promotion concept/commercial treatment and advertising campaign for a premium table water with medicinal benefit made from a glacier in alaska. ok...

not quite happy with the outcome so far (finished logo, labels and commercial treatment) , though i am pretty motivated since the top eight of my grade will win a one-week workshop with worldfamous poster designer and typeface-god holger matthies ([link]). the best one even wins a notebook.
