On Monday I started University. Bachelor of Animation. So for now Internet access is somewhat limited. (I moved so I'm 30 mins by train from uni (20 mins walk to the station), since it takes me an hour by train from home) But I don't really care or want to use the net, I should be focusing on drawing. Even though I'm not much of a frequent drawer or one who sketches... at all. That's someone I have to become.

It's odd seeing people just drawing in class while the teacher is talking, and not getting into trouble for it. But in that environment I don't find it easy to draw. On one hand I am trying to focus on what the teacher is saying or if I'm doing whatever it is correctly. And on the other I feel that my drawings are somewhat ... not good enough or that I have to know how to do everything beforehand. So I can't draw when other people are around and possibly watching. It's stupid I know. I feel much more confident using a computer than a pencil.

This semester we are doing.
Introduction to Animation: Getting some drawing and animating skills. Bouncing Ball, the Flour sack (everywhere does it). And all sorts of other things I have yet to know about. I'm already dis-liking traditional animation. Light-boxes + Punching Paper + Heaps of drawing = DX . I'm just really lazy. I hate being that way D:

Drawing for animation: Perspective (which I kinda know) and Character Design. Sounds good. The bad side of it is. Life Drawing. I hate it, but you need to be really good at it. It's not that you want the characters to look realistic, it's so you understand how the body works and moves so you can make the movements believable. But I'm dreading when she (the teacher) brings in a nude model(s) my eyes will bleed. The ones willing to model naked in front of a bunch of geeky teens has got to be hard on the eyes. Either way I don't like looking in places I shouldn't... and don't want to be seeing from a stranger. She expects us to draw a minimum of 5 drawing a week. And says we should be doing 2 hours of life drawing everyday. No thanks, that much of life drawing would kill me. D8

Digital Visualization:Sounds like the computer stuff, but were grouped with the photography, design and fine art students (maybe some others I forgot) So it sounds like “THIS IS HOW YOU DELETE HISTORY IN PHOTOSHOP” So not what I want to know... that would be “Flash, Maya/Max, After Effects etc” I guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself >_>; ahem.

Animation and Narrative: Oh man, I bet this is going to be a pain in the ass. Film Grammar, Camera framing/movement, lighting etc. We have to do some kind of presentation, individual and a group one in class D: So a speech about a close analysis on a director through 2 or 3 sequences. And the group one sounds like a production of a storyboard to be put on DVD.

The bad thing about this course is it's sucking my wallet dry D: Transport cost at least 30 per week. And all the stuff they keep saying we have to buy. Tracing paper today cost me over 8 bucks )8< In the end it becomes a large amount. Also >_> ... I'm stingy when it comes to stationary, I love to own it, but not use it XD. I bought this Animation book (not compulsory) for almost 50 bucks, it's heavy but amazingly good. I'm poor now D: But hopefully more educated.

All in all, I really need to get my act together. I need to change big time. Because the way I am now, I'm completely not suited to be an animator. An animator needs to be creative, a mathematician, a philosopher, a choreographer and mostly hardworking (also some other good ones I forgot). A multialented and passionate (about animation) person. But I've lost my will to draw! D:

Anyway, I might ramble again laster about UNI if I feel you could learn something from it.

Oh on Saturday night some friends of the family came and took my dog Penny. Yeah *sigh*, because of the living arrangement we have at this house, she's fenced off far in the back yard so no-one can see her. She get's no attention. At my old house I could see her at the back door all the time everyday, man she's cute. But I can go see her still whenever. She'll get pampered and loads of cute stuff, attention and love. But I'll miss her. I think we have had her since I was in grade 5 or 6. I'm gonna miss her ;_;

My day began with breakfast... bacon, toast and RED CREAMY SODA!! My tounge was red as.

I had to present my major project around 10:15am... the worst bit is I was right after the "best student in the class" geez I could go on and on about him, but I might start swearing and sounding kinda racist ahahaha. He did a 2D AND 3D animation (yeh it was both) and put it on DVD. He got the multimedia student award thing cos his was a "true multimedia project" BAH! All he did since last jan was copy all of our ideas and stare at everyones screens, but get the best marks...pssh, he cant even speak/write english properly how does he do it . He's good at everything (even though he was a n00b like us at the begining) and goes to class everyday of the week, even though we only have it 3 days a week. So yeh in a way he deserved it... except for the copying. SO yeh I went after this amazing student so my project looked even shitER then it already was haha. Once we finished clapping for his I'm like "I hate you, I hate you so much ;o; " I told his dad I can't compete with his ;o; . Lucky I was after the break so maybe people forgot how good he's was

Before my speech I had to hype up or I'd stutter. So I was squirming around like an idiot and making everyone laugh, going up to the mic "CALL ME ON..." yeh ... stupid things, oh and telling the teachers off for not installing the flash 8 player like I told them too. Anyway hyping up really helped cos I said my "speech" (I like made it up on the spot)... I said it quickly without my voice shaking up. I felt so weird saying my real name, I don't think I've ever said it in a speech before, everyone knows me as nandi, its like my real name to me and everyone else, its always been that way (its my middle name). Anywho It's so quiet and dark...and cold in there o.o. I showed them my promotional website and my animation (I'll show you it after I make it less assignment-friendly). But once I'm hyper it takes a while to calm down, so I was saying all this shit while everyone else was presenting XD it was funny tho.

Where am I going with this... Yes so, if I pass this and the written side of it D: , then I offically have a Diploma of Multimedia! YAY!

In other words, I'm going to be really really busy ...

I'll be working on this flash movie and other assignments an utter crap, and probably won’t have anytime to do anything, to submit to deviant art, though... I have allot of ideas floating around.

I’ve already written and re-written the script, designed the characters and started storyboarding. But come this June when I hand it in, I won’t be submitting that version to DA. I will instead, continue animating and submit the whole version, the proper one which I've had to cut down so much, as I wont have enough time to do it the way I originally wrote it for my course. But I want to do proper version and submit it here. Hopefully I don’t get Lazy and only submit the short crap version... its... possible XD. We’ll see, we'll see.

I think that's about it.
Other than that I've been playing Animal Crossing, everyday for over a week.
