1. Cogratulations Scottb on recieving the torch to continue the fantastic work that Michael has been doing over the last few years. Mighty big shoes to fill, I have all confidence in Scott, to do a stellar job. Cheers mate, pull yourself up a stool, ask Mike to pour you something cold.

Thanks to Firelite-Photo for years of tremendous service and support to the artisitic nude community, and the community as a whole here at We want to wish you all the best for your future, in love and in money, wherever success brings you, I am sure you will continue to help the community. Umm actually you already have a drink excellent

3. Welcome all to the new BUMP! Cafe & Bar. I started a new initiative with my journal on August 24th which I hope to continue doing. The concept was born out of several things, all culmunating into a note exchange with :iconfirelite-photo, re a list of photographers he wanted from everyone. We discussed the future of the artistic nude photography section here at DA and talked about the need to keep this community alive...not that it is in any danger of dying...just in case you thought so.

On the contrary it is a thriving and growing community. That being said the artistic nude community has more challenges to maintain and keep healthy than most areas here at DA, the exception being the Fetish Community which will certainly attest to.

It is because of this, and my wanting to continue playing an active roll both as a contributor of artworks and of fostering a growing community...that I started this little Bar/Cafe/DAA meeting whatever you wish to call it. The last journal was an incredible success with over 168 comments in just a few days. Wow kids that is excellent! I am proud of you all. Below is a list of those who visited and lefta little something, introduction comment, humor whatever. All great stuff.

Ok what is going on here? Why has this one been suddenly removed after being posted since July 11th? I really don’t understand, there are no toys involved, it is merely the human body, shot this way not cropped later, in an artistic and outdoor setting, with nice natural lighting...and has been up for over a month. Did someone complain about being offended? And do you answer all complaints with removal of the deviation, it was posted in the right gallery and was given a mature content warning, if someone was offended, they could just decide not look. This is certainly not pornography, and if you would like I will search through Deviantart and probably come up with a thousand other examples of things that are vulgar as opposed to this which is certainly not.

If it will remain your decision to keep this deviation removed I will have to respect it ...as there is nothing else I can do, perhaps you could search the rest of my gallery and remove anything else which is in violation, right away so that I don't receive any more surprises, and heartache in the future. If you would like I could even become part of the policy violation team as well...as I probably even have a couple hundred violations in my favorites folder.

Please don't take this in any way as help desk bashing, because it is not...it is merely dialogue...in hopes of finding some sort of a solution to this problem, so that perhaps there can be created a super clear set of guidelines...not the sitting duck scenario we have presently, I think the whole "case by case basis", really does not work in a utilitarian fashion, as I have personally witnessed.

I respect DA’s wishes not to become a porn site, and even though in the process you are excluding some truly fantastic art, this is the price you have to pay for becoming more main stream. Let us please work to some sort of a happy medium, where there are no surprises about what can and cannot be submitted. Currently I am tempted to remove all of the nude works in my gallery, in fear of having them removed involuntarily.

I looked in my inbox...there was a note from the policy violation team about one of my deviations being removes...blah blah. got to my front page and this message appeared.

I was surprised to say the least, as I was pretty sure that I had not submitted any pornography, and that deviation in particular, albeit pushing the envelope slightly is certainly not pornographic but was merely natural, and erotic...but very abstract...perhaps in hind sight the title "2 Double AA's" did me in...not sure. If anyone wants to and has not seen the deviation I will be happy to e-mail it to you.

So I then promptly responded to the help desk, with an inquiry and a request to be reinstated.

I appreciate your swift response in this matter, I would however like to lodge a protest in that I was completely unaware of this and have seen many other deviations with such "adult toys" shot in a much more clear and intentional fashion. A removal of the deviation, and a warning with explanation would have been sufficient for me to have complied with this policy and deterred me from ever posting such a violation again.

The manner and the clarity (abstract and blurry) in which this image was shot...intentionally...and artistically does not constitute pornography yet I completely respect DA's policies...and therefore am more than willing to abide by them in the future. I just believe that in this case it would be very gracious of you to lift the ban and expect that policies will not be violated in the future. DA means too much to me in my present life position to be taken away for something that was an unintentional violation.

Please do not use this case to make an example of me, please instead know that as an active member of the community I will do my best to uphold your standards and continue to be a positive influence for the furtherance of it. I ask you to reconsider, and appreciate your time on this matter.

As outlined in FAQ #302: Why was my deviation or scrap removed while another similar work is still posted? we cannot possibly remove all violations simultaneously so do not make the error of thinking that because you have 'seen' other similar works that are still posted that we have somehow approved of their presence.

'Artistry' is not a factor in these cases- they are strictly prohibited regardless of what sort of lighting, blurriness, or any other factor you wish to use in an attempt to justify submitting it here.

You have not been 'made an example' you are just one of nearly a dozen people who received similar bans that particular day for the submission of inappropriate materials.
