Just a quick journal entry to let you know that the shop has been updated with some new items this week! I received my order of postcards in the mail a few days ago, featuring some of my favourite older paintings as well as three new designs depicting the birds from my current solo show. I've now made them up into packs to sell in the shop, so if you liked the paintings 'The Nightwatchman', 'The Ghosts Of Their Departed Leaves', and the 'Bringing The Trees Into Existence' series, you can now buy them as fine art postcards!

There are various sets to choose from ranging from $6.00 - $10.00, and they're perfect for framing too. Also in the shop this week are some original ink illustrations from the new Patterned Raindrops series. The larger piece has already sold, but two lovely little ACEOs are still available. A great, affordable way of owning some original art if you don't have the funds to buy a canvas painting at the moment!

Please click on the link to visit the shop and see what's on offer: [link]

As my life as an artist gets busier and busier (especially at the moment with my solo show looming on the horizon) I'm finding it hard - well in fact, impossible - to thank everyone individually for all of the wonderful comments left for me on here. I read all of them eventually and when I have a spare moment or two I try to answer some of them as well. But I wanted you to know that I'm frequently deeply touched by the things you have written and they often bring a smile to my face. So to everyone who has taken the time to comment recently, either on an individual piece of work or just generally on my page, here's a huge tight hug for you all!

Secondly, I just wanted to let you know that I found the time to list a few new 'Birds & Landscapes' postcard, sticker & minicard packs in the Etsy shop again after the last two batches sold out! These ones are slightly different to the previous packs as they contain bird stickers instead of trees and a beautiful postcard reproduction of the painting 'Intermission 2' ( [link] ) - the first time I've made this piece available as a postcard. To visit The Blackbird Sings Etsy shop, please click here: [link]

See you soon!
Natasha x

Just a quickie to let you know that my Etsy shop, The Blackbird Sings, has recently been restocked with lots of new work! There's also more to come in the coming days and weeks as I'm making a real effort to list new pieces on there much more regularly than before. The shop is now the main place to buy my work online. I don't have any other shops - all available work can either be found on Etsy or my website (or in certain galleries if you're in the UK!).

Pieces can be reserved for short periods and there is an option to pay in installments for larger pieces, if you wish to do so. Just talk to me if you'd like to do this.

And one more little piece of news: I've finally started making linoprints! I'm having such fun with this and so far it seems to be suiting my style of work quite well. There are now a couple up for sale in the shop, which are part of a limited edition of 25. I love the fact that I can produce several pieces from one design, but that due to the handcrafted process of linoprinting from start to finish, each piece is different and has it's own character. You can rest assured that no two are the same! Anyway, I hope you'll like them.

Please click on this link to visit my Etsy shop: [link]

Or here to visit my website: [link]

Toodlepip!

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that I've set up a fan page for my art on Facebook. I've never really liked FB very much (and I still find the entire set-up a little confusing, to say the least), but I read something about FB fan pages on Etsy the other day which made me think this might be a good idea to try.

I am actually enjoying setting up the page, and it's relatively easy for me to upload new work, studio shots, works-in-progress, as well as links to my blog, website, and Etsy shop whenever I have new work available. It's only been up and running for two days and at present I have 31 fans of my work - some people I know and some I don't! If you're on FB and would like to become a fan, you're more than welcome. I will occasionally be running special promos on my work especially for the FB fans, and you'll have the chance to receive invitations to future shows, take part in competitions, and see new work as it arrives in my Etsy shop.

Please click here to go directly to Natasha Newton | The Blackbird Sings Facebook fan page: [link]

Look forward to seeing you there.
Natasha x

I like the idea of thanking the followers, fans & supporters of my art by occasionally offering little promos on my work. I do it for my mailing list members a couple of times a year, and I also held a small Etsy promo for my Twitter followers the other week. Now it's the turn of the DA watchers!

Today and tomorrow (Sunday & Monday) ONLY, I am offering you 20% off anything currently for sale in my Etsy store! Just send an email BEFORE purchase to natasha@natasha-newton.co.uk with the title 'Deviant Offer', let me know which piece(s) you're interested in buying and I will adjust the Etsy price for you to include the 20% off, before you purchase. If you don't have an Etsy account and would like to buy from me directly, just email me and I'll send you a Paypal payment request for the item(s) you wish to purchase.

Here's the link to the shop: [link]

Easy!
Happy art-buying.

Natasha x

P.S.
I just found out that I've been featured on Etsy today in an article in their newsletter (which I receive anyway - what a surprise it was to see my work in there!) and in The Storque, which is their News/Articles section, in an article entitled 'Etsy Finds: Who's Got Talent?' - a selection of new shops that they feel have 'fresh new talent'.

I can't believe mine was one of the chosen few!!

I couldn't BUY this kind of publicity - 40 new people have 'favourited' my shop already, and the newsletter was only released less than an hour ago! I am so lucky. Thousands of people will get to see that article - yay!

Go here to see, and scroll down to find my featured artwork:
[link]

And here's a direct link to my little shop: [link]

Hello everyone.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to have come back to dA and for everyone to be so warm, welcoming, and friendly! It really has given me such pleasure to read your comments (I'm replying to as many as I possibly can...it sometimes takes me a little while) and I am astonished by the popularity of the new pieces I've submitted on here in the past couple of days - I almost fell over backwards when I saw the amount of favourites they've been given! And I know that a couple of you have been so kind as to feature me, which I am always deeply touched by.

Well, on to my exciting news! As well as working on a large show called The Silent Landscape with the artist Deborah Burrow at a lovely gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, this coming May, I have also been offered my first SOLO SHOW!!

I am over the moon at this news - it's at a wonderful gallery who I already exhibit with, Serena Hall Gallery in Southwold, and it looks as if the show will be in the early Autumn, either September or October. We still have to confirm the dates, but I'll let you know in due course. The gallery offered me this opportunity as they said my work has been selling well and they have 'quite a few regular customers who now collect my work'.

As you can imagine, the thought of having two large shows this year in two great locations is incredibly exciting for me...and a huge amount of work! I'm probably going to have to produce around 25 pieces (paintings and illustrations) for the joint show in May, and then around 15 for my solo show in the Autumn.

Better get started!

I'm thinking of coming back to dA - after three months away, I miss it and I miss the people and artwork on here. I got a surprise when I just logged in after all this time - it's really changed! I hope I can find my way around again! I probably won't post new pieces as often as I did before, but I thought that there's actually no harm in being on here and just posting now and again...it's better than nothing!

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and that 2009 is going great for you so far.
I'm sure I'll be back with some new work to show you very soon...

Love & best wishes,
Natasha

In the meantime, if you're interested, you can see new collaged paintings and other bits & pieces here on my art blog: [link]

Or visit my website and see much more! [link]

Ok, I think my work here is just about done.

** But you can find me here... **

website: [link]
art blog: [link]
etsy: [link]
myspace: [link]
twitter: [link]

(All of these sites are updated regularly).

----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- -----

I looked into deleting my dA account last night via the FAQ section...and I discovered that "our coding doesn't allow for dA pages to be deleted". (WTF?!)

It then told me that if I wanted to leave, what I could do was delete the contents of my gallery and journal. Ok, I thought, I'll do that. It sounded fairly easy, and a good compromise. But oh no, it's not easy - I was then informed by dA that you cannot just delete an entire gallery in one go; you have to delete each deviation separately. Ditto for the journal entries.

Let me tell you: IT TOOK FOREVER.

By the time I'd finished I was royally pissed off. There should be some way to delete a gallery or journal entries in one go. It doesn't need to be this difficult.

Anyway, I won't start ranting here - what I will do is tell you that I deleted everything apart from a handful of my favourite pieces from the gallery, so at least I still have some examples of my work on here. Should anyone stumble upon them and like what they see, they can then visit any of the sites listed above to see more work.

Thanks for your wonderful comments the other day when I announced I was leaving, and once again a huge thank you to all of you for your support since I joined dA in January 2007. It is deeply appreciated. I hope to see you all on the other side!
