Well I've done it! I've finally cleared through all of the deviations in my watch list! Feels good I must say. I've given a lot of comments and faves, and it's wonderful to finally be able to have a completely clean slate. Now to sort out my own gallery!

Oh, and I'm currently listening to Taylor Swift's new album, Fearless. If you like Country music, go listen to it :D she's great :heart:

Also I now need to try and re-figure out how to do these nice journal entries. I'll get there.

I'm finally getting there! I've managed, after a couple of late nights of, frankly, slow progress (stupid computer), to finally get my :+devwatch: back down to less than 1000 deviations. It was well up over 2500 when I started, so I think I'm doing ok. Couple more restless nights and I'll be all clear. :w00t:

I think I may go through my own deviations and delete the ones I'm not really too happy with. :nod: I know I'm not a great photographer, but I do hope to get better with time and effort, and then get some really good shots on here :D

Also I think it's time I refreshed my journal footer picture. Need to try and remember how that was done in the first place though!!! :faint:

Thanks again to everyone who's looked at, commented on or given a :+fav: to I know I say it a lot, but I truly love this poem for many reasons, and I know how much it means to the amazing friend who wrote it that you've all liked it too :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas/New Year, with lots of festive cheer.....and I'm sure lots of festive alcohol in some cases :giggle: mine included :D

I've had to draw a line in the sand and delete a lot of my old messages without replying to them :( I really didn't want to, but I have to catch up somehow so I will thank everyone who gave me a :+fav: or left a kind comment. I really appreciate all the support, and I wish I had enough time to reply to everyone. Unfortunately life tends to get in the way sometimes, and there are more important things to do.

However, making a clean start means I can, hopefully, stay on top of things and actually get to look at my :+devwatch: - so I can give your work all the attention it deserves :D

I did manage to thank everyone who gave a :+fav: to , since I know how much Sleepy appreciated all of the views and :+fav:s her piece has got :). I let her know about all of the praise her words get :) and I know they're all well deserved :) So thank you to everyone who has commented on that poem, you've all made a very special friend of mine very happy :hug:

Anyway, back to work for me. I hope you've all had a lovely festive season, and wish you all the very best for a happy and prosperous 2009!

Just wanted to apologise to any of you who start getting random messages from me.....I've started, at last, replying to all the messages you've left me over the last year and a half.....and I really do mean I've got messages from March 2007!!! So if you're wondering what the hell is this message, it's probably me replying to a SERIOUSLY old message. So sorry again, I'm trying my best and finding as much free time as I can to put into DA.

Also...

Did anyone else enjoy the last weekend of sport as much as me? The fact that Andy Murray beat Roger Federer to get into, and later win, the final of the Madrid Masters would have been good enough.....but then Lewis Hamilton went and won the Chinese Grand Prix and Valentino Rossi won the Malaysian Moto GP!!! How wonderful to see young talents truly shine.

How long will it be before Andy Murray wins a Major? Sooner rather than later you feel.

Can Lewis wrap up this title and claim his first F1 World Championship? He has to finish fifth or better if Massa wins. :fingerscrossed:

And Vale has already won the world championship for the Moto GP, his sixth in the premiere class, but can he go ahead and break another world record, highest points total for a Moto GP season? He needs to get 11 points or more to do it.....that means a fifth place finish will do it - somehow I doubt anything less than the race win will sit well with the Doctor!

Just a quick note to let you know I'm playing in a World Racketlon tour event this weekend! It's a fairly new sport combining the disciplines of Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis, a game in each sport making up one match against one person. So far I'm ranked 82nd in Britain, and will be hoping to improve that this weekend.....also I should get a world ranking after this event! :w00t:
Anyway, that's all I've got time for.....hope you all have a lovely weekend and I'll catch up with you next week sometime!

Again, sorry for my absence - I will try to get back on top of things when I get a minute to myself!

The reason for this journal is twofold:

Firstly to thank Karen, :iconbuble:, for her wonderful birthday gift to me. A while ago Karen held an exhibition, and I expressed some interest in buying one of her paintings (when I had the money).....of course Karen being Karen wouldn't hear of taking money from me, and, instead, has sent me the painting for my birthday!!!!! It arrived this morning, thankfully undamaged (I have little faith in mail services these days), and is even more beautiful "in the flesh", so to speak, than I could have possibly imagined :D

So I now have this gorgeous work of art waiting to be framed and mounted on my wall, which I will do as soon as I can :heart: so Karen thank you so much, words cannot adequately convey how special this gift is to me, or the love I feel for the wonderful person who sent it :love: xxx


And secondly to thank my gorgeous friend Sleepy, :iconsleep-flower:, for so many things. She hit my 5000th pageview earlier today (not the first time she's been the one to hit one of my DA milestones :giggle:) and also she has now sent me over 2500 notes!!! We've kinda been through the mill together, helping each other through the bad bits and laughing together in the good, and, honestly, I don't know what I'd do without her. Our first "collab" is now my most viewed deviation and I'm really proud of her for that (let's be honest, it didn't really have anything to do with me!) - and it's got a fair few :+fav:s too (so thank you all for that :D). She's always drawing me stuff for pressies, and sometimes just for the heck of it :), and even said that I've given her inspration :aww: *whispers* she inspires me too :giggle:

So Sleepy, thank you for being so amazing to me.....I know I'd be lost without you in my life :cuddle: love you babe :heart: xxxxx

I do, of course, refer to time.....

My friends I must apologise again for my lack of presence on DA.....I have been unable to look through my :+devwatch: (to the tune of 3800 unseen deviations) and also unable to answer my messages. However, I refuse to be beaten and I will get around to responding eventually!

Until then I offer, by way of this journal, my most humble thanks for all of the :+fav:s you guys have left me, and of course the lovely comments that go with them. I am very much looking forward to having a bit of time to myself (a few whole days would be nice) so I can try to catch up with this issue. I have tried several times already but there always seems to be something else to do. I haven't even looked through my viewfinder since I got back from my holiday!!!!! Not good.

I am trying, at last, to do what i have been previously unable to do.....spend enough time with my friends and family, without sacrificing my own time.....which I generally use to train for racketsports. I hope soon, i.e. when the site has finally been updated, to link you guys to a site that will explain what I have been up to.

Rest assured I have not forgotten about any of you, or the love and support you have shown me (without which I would have given up on photography a long time ago).....and I WILL get through your new deviations soon (well, they'll be new to me anyway!)

Today was to be a day of vegetating in front of the television, with Valentino Rossi contending the Catalan Moto GP and Rafael Nadal defending his Roland Garros title for the second time.....what I didn't know was that the Canadian GP was also on.....bonus!

Rossi ran a great race, and did lead at a couple of points in the closing stages.....but he didn't have the speed to stay ahead of Casey Stoner and the Ducati rider eventually triumphed, leaving Rossi to come in second. Not a terrible finish, but it would have been nice if he had won! Man of the day, as far as I'm concerned, was Randy De-Puniet (hope I've spelled that right) who raced with a shoulder injury and a swollen left knee, and finished in fifth!!! Well done RDP, what a hero. :worship:

Luckily Rafael Nadal fared better against Roger Federer. The muscle-bound Spaniard took the first set 6-3, before losing some of his momentum in the second set, in which he had his chances but eventually lost. However, the youngster maintained his composure to triumph in a further two sets, no doubt leaving Fed-Ex to scratch his head and wonder what he has to do to beat Nadal at the French Open. This victory marks his 88th victory out of 89 matches on clay, and his 21st straight victory at Roland Garros. Three French Open titles in a row makes him the first man to achieve this since Bjorn Borg! Well done Rafa, Wimbledon awaits.... :clap:

And finally young Lewis Hamilton takes his first F1 victory, amidst a cloud of chaos, and his sixth podium finish out of six races! Just incredible. I have never watched the Canadian GP before, but I love the track and it certainly threw up some weird occurences! Two black flags, two stop and go penalties, one massive accident (I hope Kubica is all right!), four safety car outings, and plenty of retirements.....made for one of the best GPs I've seen in a long time. May there be many more like it, although preferably without the 150mph crashes next time! :fingerscrossed:

That's about it really; finished my day up with a floodlit tennis session with my brother, his fiancee and one of my friends, which was very enjoyable :) I hope you've all had as fun a weekend as I have enjoyed :w00t: and look forward to finally getting around to clearing my devwatch (I started but haven't even got half way through my messages yet!!!)

Hi everyone :wave:

Apologies for my long absence from the site.....I have been, amongst other things, on holiday, and ill. So here's a quick run down of the last month or so:

Holiday

I went to Malaysia to visit family, and chill out, for a couple of weeks in May. It was lovely and warm out there, as always, and we had a really nice time just relaxing and shopping. We played half a round of golf, which didn't go well lol, and also went to an Elephant Sanctuary, which was really cool.....I shall upload some pics when I can work out which ones I like! Unfortunately I was also ill while I was out there, so I resembled a walking drug store with my huge collection of pills, cough mixture and inhalers! Still, I'm better now :) Hope you've liked the pictures I've put up so far, more to follow, hopefully!

Dave Matthews Band

Shortly after coming back from Malaysia we went to a concert. I was part of a small group including my brother and his fiancee, and three of his best friends, who went to see Dave Matthews Band. Many of you will never have heard of this group, but they are HUGE in the States and are incredible to watch. Unfortunately I was still very ill at this point, so I manily listened to the concert from the comfort of the concrete floor at the side of Wembley Arena. However, I did watch some of it, and the music was just incredible.....hands down the best conceert I've ever been to, and I hope/pray they come back again soon!

Racketlon

On the 2nd of June I participated in the Hampshire Racketlon Open.....Racketlon is a relatively new event which combines the sports of Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis. Each match involves playing your opponent at all four sports, one after the other, in quick succession. I was entered into a group higher than I had intended, as the organiser thought I may find my group too easy. So I was entered into group B and, after three hard matches, came 7th in the group (out of 7 players lol). However, since the ranking points available for that groups were higher than group C, I ended up with 232 points, which means that, for now, I am ranked 94th in Britain at Racketlon!!! Needless to say I'm chuffed to bits, and can't wait to play again. Also I will be playing in the English Open later in the year.....and because that's a World Tour event, I will then get a World ranking too :boogie: :giggle: So watch this space for progress reports :)

Badminton Exhibition

Took a couple of friends out for a birthday surprise on the 3rd of June. I didn't tell them what we were doing, not even on the drive to Leicester, and only said that it was all for Charity. When we got to the location the only sign up was for a Postcard Fayre.....how much more perfect could that have been! They thought I was crazy, but let me off when they found out we were there to watch a badminton exhibition match between our national number one and number two mixed doubles pairs :) Unfortunately (used that word a lot in this journal!) Nathan Robertson (the number one male player) was injured, and so was "subbed" by Robert Blair. No mean sub either.....he and Gail Emms beat Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg in a three set match of the best badminton I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Being a player myself I could not get my head around the speed they moved, their accuracy and power, and the tactics as well. Anyway, it was a great day with some audience participation as well, and they did an autograph session.....so I now have a shirt signed by all of the players which I shall be framing :D dead chuffed with that :dance: and they were all such lovely people to boot! Now that I've asked my random question, here is my journal entry which I stole from :cuddle:

Any three, no matter how personal, private, or random.
I have to answer them honestly.

So go ahead and ask me any 3 questions.

Also, I was tagged by who asked us to name six likes, habit’s, dislikes, peeves, etc.... Let's try that:

1 - I have a habit of shouting at the TV when Valentino Rossi is racing, as he will be tomorrow morning. I know he can't hear me, plus it wouldn't be of any help if he could.....I just like to encourage him on by shouting :giggle:

2 - I love the smell of the candles I burn in my room. And I love the light from the tea light I burn in a salt rock when I go to sleep.

3 - I like the fact that someone I've never met (in person) trusts me unreservedly - you know who you are :cuddle:

4 - I HATE people who don't know how to drive....I don't mind people who drive too fast, as long as they don't come too close to me or annoy me in any way.....but people who just don't know (or don't care) how to drive, I just can't stand. Been in one too many accidents to take any other standpoint on that one.

5 - Pet peeve.....people who take a million years to reply to a text message. I send well over 2000 texts a month and very seldom do I take longer than five minutes to reply. So when I write a text and don't get a reply for weeks, that kinda annoys me.....a lot.

6 - I like my new hobby....Racketlon. It's a combination sports event where you play Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash and Tennis all against a single opponent :) I've registered to enter a couple of events and I will even get a World Ranking! How cool is that :giggle:

Today is a sad day.....it is one year exactly since our world was shaken by the loss of a friend.....and at only 18 years of age, she had barely even started her life. But, in the time she was with us she brought tremendous joy and love to her family and friends, and gave a great deal to the children she worked with. She was an Angel on earth, and now she is an Angel in Heaven, watching over those she loves.

Two poems, one new, one old, I wrote for Candace.



Not a day goes past when I don't think about her, but I know she is in a better place, free from the troubles of this world. She is with my father, and my friend Colin, who was also taken too young. For them we pray, and know that we will be re-united one fine day.

Hi Guys :wave:


So the 2007 Moto GP series is well underway, today marking Valentino Rossi's first victory since Sepang, Malaysia, some seven races ago. I heard the commentator say earlier that this is the longest he has gone without a victory since he hit the Moto GP scene all those years ago.
I must admit I missed the first race of the season, but I have no intention of missing any more of them (with the exception of the British leg which falls on the same day that I will be crammed in Hyde Park, with a million other people lol, watching Aerosmith play!!!). Today's race was very exciting, Valentino taking an early lead from 2nd on the grid and holding on to the very end, but with so much action going on behind him....incredible to behold. Overtaking everywhere and one very unfortunate crash taking John Hopkins out of a newly acquired, and well deserved, fourth position to finish dead last. Had he not slipped I feel he would have made the podium, but such is life in profeessional racing, and I'm sure he will be fighting fit for the next race :D
Anyway, I'm sure this is terribly boring to most of you, but I love Moto GP.....and to see Rossi leading the Championship, after only two races, makes me very happy (especially as he pretty much handed the championship over to Nicky Hayden last year). Good luck to all of them, but I really hope Vale reigns once more :D

And also congratulations to young Lewis Hamilton, who raced magnificently in the Australian F1 GP to finish third in his debut race!!! Making the points would have been impressive enough, but the podium?!?!? Incredible, and I'm told he comes from the same town I live in :giggle: how cool.

I've just reached my own little milestone here on DA. I've just sent my 1500th note asking a special request for a great friend :). Can't believe I've sent so many since I joined DA, and even more crazy is that over 90% have gone to one person, who knows who she is. :heart:


I'm currently in the process of going through all of my older deviations to bring them up to the standard that I want them to be. I have kept changing the way I process my shots and have recently become happy with my border and things like that. So I'm going to re-visit my older works and change them accordingly. I will do these as major edits (and probably not very many at a time), so that you guys can give me your critiques if you so desire, so I apologise now if you get things in your :+devwatch: that you may have seen before. Thanks, as always, for your constant support and guidance. People keep telling me I'm getting better.....but I know I wouldn't be without my DA family :hug:

I found this on 's journal and I liked it so I've put it in mine. Many of these seem to fit me, but I thought I'd pick the one that I guess applies the most to me personally. I think it's quite a sad state of affairs that things like this, which should really be a funny joke, are actually so true.....and that so many people think like this. The one I picked is the "When Harry Met Sally" stereotype - that is a guy and a girl cannot be friends without there being sex involved. I have many female friends, none of whom I am "involved" with, nor will I ever be. However, whenever I go out with one of them, everyone automatically assumes there's something going on! :giggle: anyway, that's their problem. The people whose opinions I care about know me better than that, and those I love know who they are and how I feel about them :)

On Friday evening I went, with my brother and friends, to see Dave Matthews in concert!!! He, and his partner in crime Tim Reynolds, played a three hour set at the New Theatre in Oxford, and it was simply amazing. The chance to see him in concert in England happens very rarely.....hence the reason we'll be seeing Dave Matthews Band in May lol :giggle:

I've been meaning to do some more features for ages, but just haven't had the time to get around to it. So, apologies for that.....here is my new feature:


Firstly a deviant who many of you will know and, in my eyes, one of the most accomplished people I personally know on the community. In the few months since he joined DA he has amassed over 8000 pageviews, 25000 deviation views, 2000 :+fav:s and is currently on 241 Deviants' :+devwatch:!!! He is, of course, the incredibly talented =ZephonSoul. Not only is he extremely gifted, he is also one of the nicest people I have ever met, and it is truly an honour for me to be his friend. Here are just a few of his amazing pictures:





On the flip side of the DA coin is Alan, A.K.A. *ahplemmons. He is also an amazing photographer, but I feel he isn’t noticed enough and so I hope that by showing you some of his great shots, he might get a few more visitors :D His pictures fascinate me and I can only aspire to be as good as he is. Today my family and I are "celebrating" my father's 60th birthday......hard to celebrate without the birthday boy around, but I'm sure he'd want us to do something for him. So we're all going out to have a nice dinner, just me, my mum, my brother and his fiancee :) And I've written him a poem, which I will post later today. It's been a lovely, sun-filled day, even if it was a little cold, and I hope you've all enjoyed the start of the weekend as much as I have. Well I've managed to get back on top of things and clear my Devwatch and all of my notes and messages. It's been really nice to reply to all the great things you've all said, and to leave my comments about all of your stunning works :D

And also, thanks to ¢mynti I've started to get the hang of this journal CSS nonsense :) - as you can see this is very basic, and nowhere near perfect (especially with the colour matching), but hey, I'm still a complete novice!

It's too late in the evening for me to go hunting around for pictures to link to so I will make do with wishing you all an incredibly Happy Christmas! If you're good Santa will bring you everything you want, and maybe Sleepy will get some snow too (but only if you're a good girl)!

I wrote a poem for my dad, to put with his coffin at the crematorium, but I can't find it at the moment. I wrote another one recently though - A Gift To Heaven, and I also like the sentiment on the "Me To You" Bear we have at home, which says this:

If I had never met you I would never have liked you.
If I'd never liked you I would never have loved you.
If I'd never loved you I would never have missed you.
But I did, and I do, and I will.

I also took a picture of the shrine we have to Dad and Grandad at home, , not for any particular reason, just because.

I will miss my Dad always, until the happy day when we are re-united.....but that day will also be a sad day, because I will leave behind people special to me in every way.....can't win really. Anyway, this is for you Dad - I love you :heart:

Unfortunately my last Journal entry was a little in vain, since my hero ended up crashing in the Grand Prix and, ultimately, losing the World Championship to Nicky Hayden.....next year Vale, next year!

I said earlier this week that I would be changing my journal over the weekend, but I didn't say why. The reason is simple - to pay my respects, and show my support, to my personal sporting hero, Number 46 - Valentino Rossi. :clap::clap::clap:

A few quick statistics from the past few years of racing, and the resounding truth about these years - Rossi has been nothing short of dominating:-

2002 - 11 wins, 4 2nd place and 1 DNF - Championship won with 355 points from Max Biaggi who scored 215 points.

2003 - 9 wins, 5 2nd place and 2 3rd - Championship won with 357 points from Sete Gibernau who scored 277 points.

2004 - 9 wins, 2 2nd place and 2 DNF - Championship won with 304 points from Sete Gibernau who scored 257 points.

And finally (whew I hear you breathe) the year of 2005 - when so strong was the great man that really, no-one else was in the same league, or even on the same track. 11 victories, 3 2nd place and 2 3rd place - 16 podium finished out of 16 races!!! Championship won with 367 points over Marco Melandri, who scored 220 points!

I apologise to fans of Melandri, Biaggi, Gibernau, and everyone else who obviously gave their all to the cause - all of these riders are amazing athletes who deserve boundless praise for thier dedication to their sport - unfortunately Rossi was better on the day.

Now, this year has been a very different story, and I am guilty of missing many races so far. To sum it up very briefly, Nicky Hayden finished his home race in Laguna Seca, US, on 194 points, with Rossi suffering engine failure and ending up on 143 points - with only 6 races to go. A tall order. Now I missed every race from then until now, but it would seem that in four races (Brno, Sepang, Philip Island and Motegi) Hayden picked up a further 42 points while Rossi achieved 81! So not all over yet. And the final straw for Hayden came at Estoril in Portugal, where his team mate, Dani Pedrosa, made a huge mistake and took them both out of the race, leaving Rossi to stomp to a 2nd place, missing out on race victory by 2 THOUSANDTHS of a second to a valiant Toni Elias! The situation now, therefore, is that Valentino Rossi is eight points ahead of Hayden, an incredible turn of fortune. And to add insult to injury, he has also qualified in pole position for tomorrow's race in Valencia. So, the championship is there for the taking, and it will be Rossi's 8th World Championship if he manages to pull off this incredible comeback.

Sorry for the long journal, but this man is an amazing young man who has done great things for motorsport. Love him or hate him, no-one can deny his incredible talent. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Doctor - Number 46, Valentino Rossi - is about to operate.
