2012 has been a year full of discoveries -- mostly not so good, but I think I can safely say they were all things I could grow from. We had a slightly longer weekend, thanks to Statehood Day on Friday. (Yeah, we have a lot of holidays in Hawaii... ♥)

On Sunday, I was asked to participate in a Family Sunday event at the Honolulu Museum of Art (formerly, the Honolulu Academy of Art) for "Manga Madness". Things have been super busy for me since we closed up the Kickstarter project in late December. The book is completed and off to the printers as I write this and I'm expecting my preview copies sometime in February. (I CANNOT WAIT!)

Well, I just came back from Canada last night after a pretty amazing weekend at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival! I cannot express what an amazing show it is. Our 5th volume has been sent to the printers and should be ready in time for Kawaii Kon~! :D

I totally cannot wait. This is our first book to be printed in full color. It's also featuring larger strips so the book size has grown a couple inches wider.

As much as we'd like to take a break, we have a ton more stuff in the works.. I hope everything comes together in time!

Also, you may notice a whole slew of updates -- I'd been rather lax about updating things, but since it's finally March, I feel it's safe to finally post some of the commissions I completed for the Christmas season. :D

All I can say is that 2010 was pretty epic by my standards.

I passed on a number of local events to attend a number of mainland (and one international) events... and it looks like I'll be returning in 2011 to most of them.  Travel isn't easy for us out in the middle of the Pacific, but all of the really kind people we have met over the past year have more than made up for all the jet lag, illness, and fatigue.

I am learning as I go to be a better business person and to improve as an artist and as a storyteller at the same time. ^_^v

I wish everyone the best as 2010 passes into memory and 2011 starts the year anew~!

I have a number of events coming up for the winter months and a lot of prep work to do in the meanwhile -- aside from just getting my tri-weekly strips done for their update days. This particular chapter is slightly more epic than most too with full color pages and an on-going story. (sort of like our previous Henshin Pups chapter back in April.) They take me a little longer to plot and draw/ink/color, but are a lot of fun to do~ :D

Although most of my biggest events are over for the summer, I have one small local workshop in a couple weeks~

I'll be doing a basic workshop on how to draw chibi characters (based on Sakura brand's "Manga Start" program) and as much as time permits, go into coloring techniques with some of my favorite media -- namely Copic Markers and colored pencils. Scott may also talk a little about inking as well. :D

The best thing? No need to bring any art supplies - they will all be provided. ^_^v

Hard to believe that another DECADE has come and gone. o_O; Now that we're in the 10's, I look forward to the fresh-ish start we'll all be getting. :D

This is going to be a busy year for us... we start things off with our first event at the JCCH New Year Ohana Festival taking place on Sunday, January 10th from 10am - 4pm on Moili'ili Field~!

Thanks to all who stopped by for our local events~ We have one planned in January, but I'll probably post more about that when we get closer to the date (and I get more information). ^^

So far, we are set for 3 events in 2010:

- Fanime
- San Diego Comic Con - Small Press Area

I'm on the waiting list for TCAF, and pondering a few others throughout the summer months.
