What I found was "The Chronicles of the Black Company"

A gritty fantasy novel written by author Glen Cook back in 1984-85, it is actually a single bound copy of the first trilogy of the series. As well as "The Black Company," it also contains "Shadows Linger" and "The White Rose." It follows a mercenary group known as the Black Company and the struggles under the employ of the Lady, a centuries old sorceress bent on world domination.

This is perhaps the best fantasy epic I have ever read, even outstripping my previous favorites, "The Prince of Nothing" series by R. Scott Bakker and Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings." I think what drew it to me most was its down to earth nature. The characters don't presume themselves to be good or evil, they simply are. Events aren't blown out of proportion, they are retold with a humanism severely lacking in most fantasies. The characters are all people you feel you could sit down and talk with around the campfire.

The story itself is a tumultuous tale of twists and turns, triumphs and defeats, and none of it is poorly done. The ending (though it cant really be called that as this is still and ongoing series) tied up everything nicely while still leaving you yearning for the next book, which I will be purchasing tomorrow if all goes according to plan.

This is a must-read for anyone who enjoys fantasy, or reading for that matter.

So go out and get yourself a copy.

How are you all doing? Good? Great.

I've been rather busy recently with school, hence the lack of new art. And it doesn't look like there is going to be much more on the way between now and ~ May 8. That's when my school finally lets out for the summer. Though I'm still going to be there till mid June cause I need to do some courses over the summer.

But the course load for then shouldn't be too heavy. So, more stuff will be coming this summer. Until then;

Here are the specs for those who are interested:

2.4Ghz Quad-core processor
4GB (2GBx2) of Ram
1TB hard drive
Nvidia 9800 GTX+ graphics card
750 watt power supply

Anyway, I've got it up and running now and I gotta say it performs beyond my wildest dreams. Editing in photoshop on large images is actually real time, rather than waiting for a minute for the changes to show. Most games run darn near flawlessly on it.

Anyway, my point is I now have a new toy to play with, which means more initiative to do artsy things, which means more art is on the way. I'm currently experimenting with some new line-art styles for 2D and a new rendering style for my 3D stuff. Look forward to some uploads in the next month.


Or I might just get distracted by games again...

The Dark Night is awesome! Saw it opening night and was blown away by Heth Ledger's performance an the Joker. He nailed the whole insane thing perfectly. It's a real shame he isn't around for another movie, may he rest in peace.

"Why is a 19 year old going to watch a kid's movie?" you ask.
Well, I had heard throught the grapevine that it was a decent movie, and as a moderate Jack Black fan, I decided to go see it with my cousin who is of equal age.

I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR THE AWESOMENESS!!!!!

This was by far the best movie I have seen in a LONG time. The comedy was wonderful (we almost peed ourselves on more than one occasion), the animation was absolutely stunning, and it had the best animated figth scenes EVER, bar none. As a martial arts buff, I know a fair bit of Kung Fu, and they nailed it. It is like they put Bruce Lee on speed and just set him loose. Also, there was a suprising number of big name voices that weren't advertised. See if you can figure them out by the end of the movie. I gauruntee you'll be suprised.

Just making an update since I haven't for a while. Anyway's, my novel is going on hold. I don't have the time or mental energy to wite anything worth reading right now. That and I'm doing a revamp of the storyline to a more...traditional ...pulp fiction one. My current project should start showing up here in a week two. I'm currently creating chibi's of the Gamer Gang at my college. They should start appearing soon!
