NOVUS ORSA

So Renfest was a complete blast. Our yet to be named Steampunk crew's debut was none other than a terrific splendor of awesomeness that surprised us all. We had no idea that we would be so well received, people were stalking us the entirety of the day!

Even though I had been up until 2:45 in the morning having worked all day on getting everyone's Steam gear and props finished, only to wake up at 5:45 to get in costume and finally head out on our 4 hour trek to the Houston-ish area, I was wide awake for the day... and yes I drove to and from finally getting back home at around 2 the next morning. We have confirmed that this is in fact going to be an official "crew" more or less and having confirmed that, next topic of discussion was events. We do want to try to make it to Renfest one more time this year (Jack Sparrow aside in my case). But most giddy inducing greatness of all is the confirmation that we have all agreed to make an appearance at IKKiCON!!! I'm understating this when I say, OMGZORZEZ HEH LOL W00T W00T FLIPFREAKINGYAY!!!!!1!11! Reason I'm so excited? Well many reasons, but possibly one of the greatest ones is that Danny Ashby :iconvladislausdantes: and the Outlanders are going to be there!! If anyone can take the cake for being the reason my interest in steampunk finally flooded over, it's definitely him.

So alas, I leave you with the initial backstory to my character Lazuli Delacru (pronounced La-ja-lai De-la-crew) in case you haven't yet read it. It also has foreshadowing and insight galore to other happenings and characters (click the thumb)...

There's one more slot for commission open but once it's taken up, there will be a wait until a spot is free again. Currently I'm not only working on commission work but also gifts and personal work as well (Jack Sparrow palm glove, steampunk Ipod bracer, steampunk tesla bracer, etc.), but the commissions have priority in alot of respects. I don't like to leave projects hanging so once I start I usually finish the same night, it's just a matter of finishing coursework first to free up time.

You heard right, I'm open for requests! Keep in mind that I've never done this before so it's a learning process for me. Regardless, I've come up with a few boundaries/guidelines to save any hardships or faq's that might arise--

1. No nudity. Don't ask for, attempt to reason, or hint at it... that means skimpy clothes too.

2. No satanic imagery. Such as images of demons with the upper hand, or anything that can be deemed questionable to those of strong faith.

3. Though I am able, I won't do sculpture. It's too much all around.

4. Even though I like doing free artwork, I have limited that down to only close friends and family. On the other hand, keep in mind I don't expect a majillion bajillion dollars for my work either. Pricing is determined by project.

5. I can only work so much and so fast. When I'm currently filled up on commission projects, I will clearly show that as my status until I am free and open to do more.

6. I do more than just drawings. Feel free to ask and see what I can make, or if you have an idea you think I could flesh out for you!... I have worked with leather and other materials before, just check out the 3d works section of my gallery!

7. Yes. I do make steampunk goggles.

8. Don't be afraid to ask me anything. There's no such thing as a stupid question other than the ones that you refuse to let leave your lips.

9. Payment is expected before I can ship anything out (yes you get the originals unless you want digital only which is a lower price). Though as proof for the work I'll take a photo with your name on a spiffy sheet of paper held up next to it, or a heavily watermarked scan of it if it's a drawing, to send you in email. Know that I do this also to see if you are satisfied with the commissioned work before I part with it (which will always be tough *cries*).

10. I make each piece of art I do with as much care and craftmanship as the other. If you are not satisfied, I will rework the piece to the best of my abilities until you are.

As for life and how-goes-it, I'm finished worrying about what others think I should do. I make my own decisions and sure a bit of advice is good here and there, but not a wrath of tyranny and control. That's something that has been a big hindrance, and I'm not going to let it bring me down anymore. Not to sound rebellious, but I'm not taking crap from anyone, I'm tired of it.

I'm finding that the path my life is heading in is in no way deviating from my original plan. I have been busy the past few months, but it all is the work of progression toward my dream. Sometime in December I will be moving into an apartment in San Marcos to go to school at Southern Texas State University as a graphic designer. I couldn't be happier, but as much as I have a sore spot in my heart for this town, Abilene, I have a soft spot twice as big. I will miss this town and all my friends. A part of me will forever be in Abilene, both in heart and soul.

Life has it's ups and downs, like a see-saw, I'm the kid who sits in the center instead of on either side.

I am visiting my Ma in New Braunfels for the weekend so expect some new pics!! I have been waiting to come here to get some new shots for quite a while, so now I'm here and I know what pictures I want to take. Of course I will get more than what I have in mind and that is so much better because of the fact that this place to me is so much different, I can see it in a unique way than that of how I see Abilene. It's always fun to get out of your usual habitat to do any kind of art because in a way it frees your mind of the hassles of where you are the majority of the time.

I will try to get the pictures processed and uploaded the same day that I take them so look forward to some new pieces. I look forward to seeing new stuff so I know how excited you are, CALM DOWN! Just kidding :)
