Back, but ...

Well my subscription has now come to an ended, and I cannot at this time renew the sub, so apologies for having to read my journal in this format. Sadly because of this there will be no more deviants or deviations featured, nor "Analytical Critique" offered.

Sorry for the inactivity here on da, however I have been occupied with personal freelance work and advancing my website knowledge of html, flash, java and css. You can see the results in my latest website work in my gallery.

Besides the websites, there are no new deviations from me as yet, but I will be working on a personal project soon.

Introduction

I have always been passionate about art. It has given me an outlet to express myself in the world around me. I take great joy in drawing and creating digital imagery by combining art and photography into a unique style that I can call my own. I began my career as a DTP operator, learning everything I possibly could about reproduction and printing, I then moved onto designing and retouching for magazines. I have over the years since then, worked my way through every available form of printing, website design and website coding.

Although I work full time as a graphic designer, I offer my services after hours as a freelancer trading as "Studio Davis"

All the while, I have created artwork which is what I love most.

I am available to work on commissions, assignments and projects, either on contract or on a retainer by negotiation. I offer services which incorporate different design media ranging from print and advertisement design to web. Well, nothing much to report.
Work is very quiet at the moment, so quiet that I am trying to look very buzzy, so hopefully there should be a few more deviations coming soon.

Analytical Critique Offered

Do you want a serious, analytical critique of your artwork? Are you looking to improve your work?

This project will run monthly and will feature one artist and their chosen deviation with my analytical critique. To be considered and have yourself and your artwork featured note me with the subject Critique.

Why only one artist and one deviant?
There are many artists who wish to receive critique on their artwork, as I have seen on my and others critique forums, and the critique time required far extends the time limit I have available. So one deviation per month will receive my full attention with a comprehensive critique, and the artist will also receive a feature in my journal.

Hey, that's a good idea, how can I help?
If you are interested in helping with this project note me with the subject Critique Help.

RULES:
- These are the latest rules that apply, and overwrite any previous "Serious analytical Critique" rules.
- Note me with no more than three direct links, once every month, of which I will choose one to critique.
- All comments will be honest, so if you do not want unfavorable comments, do not post your links.
- Any deviant who is aggressive, confrontational and abusive in any form will be reported.
- Only serious artists work will be considered.
- No fan art, anime poetry or writing.
- No self-portraits you took of yourself in the bathroom.

News & Updates

As of last week I now have no internet access at home, and this will only be rectified next year. For the next few weeks I have access at work and then nothing for the upcoming holidays! - So I'm looking forward to spending time with my family and leaving my computer and the web to gather some dust.

I have been tagged by my friend =Thwyrlie, and I have to post 8 random facts about myself, so here goes.

1. I snore, badly. (just ask my wife!)
2. I will laugh at anything, even my own misfortune.
3. I do not think I could live without my computer.
4. I hate ties, however I do own one bright yellow Daffy Duck tie.
5. I bought the above mentioned tie.
6. I am Goth, but not this new age *%#@
7. I swear allot, more than most, just to highlight the comedy in life
8. I very rarely watch TV, its there for the DVD only.

I have started a "Analytical Critique" project that will run monthly featuring one artist and their chosen deviation with my analytical critique. For details please read further down in this journal.

I finally got my dirty little paws on the "Adobe Creative Suite CS3" and I will be trying it out on the two new web projects I am in the process of completing [Previews soon - just waiting for permission to display previews here on DA]. So very little time available for create my own artwork for now.

The South African Mpumalanga Provincial Government is currently proposing a "Mpumalanga Witchcraft Suppression Bill 2007", the word suppression sadly says it all.

This bill has far reaching implications for the pagan community within South Africa, this may only appear on the surface to deal with traditional healers and witches, but this has far reaching ramifications for each individual involved in the pagan community.

Ok I thought it was about time I update my journal, I design journals, but rarely use them. (I need to correct this.)

I have not been around lately, and will only be popping in now and again as the last few weeks have been hectic, and will continue to be, as I have received some freelance work... I gotta be careful for what I wish for sometimes...

Extremely Long Weekend

Thanks to everybody who has come and visited and left their marks, I really appreciated all the comments and favorites. I now have over 1000 page hits!!!! yaaaa!

On a sadder note, this long weekend has felt as if I was stuck in an infinite loop, and a loop of the scariest type. My wife, my love of my life, had to be rushed off to hospital, she has had to endured great pains and hardships over the past two days, and I have shared these as best I could. My wife is a fighter, and does not let the tough trials of life get her down, and due to this is well on her way to recovery.

I've decided to add some colouring in images.

Why?

There does not seem to be alot of images to download and print. The images are either to small or bad traces or redraws.
