Depending on what the results are, I'll probably go onto a second-year research master's degree, or the Ph.D. They are technically the same thing, but the only difference is an extra exam for the former. I don't mind either programme; anything to stay away from the current job market. Too many depressing stories from my class of '08 friends back in the U.S.

Haven't had the time to draw proper illustrations-- either they are sketches, doodles, or some incoherent and amorphous mess. I long for my undergraduate days in California, where I had no responsibilities, pressing deadlines, or eight books to read through in a week...and where entire days could be spent drawing away on paper.

Becoming an adult has made me whinier than ever.

I hope all those who requested a card recieved it already-- if not, I'm terribly sorry! I was flying on the 12th of Dec, and asked my roommate to put the cards into the mailbox for me; but I'm sure if she actually followed the instructions or not. I have a nasty hunch she just chucked them somewhere in the apartment and forgot. Please let me know if you recieved the card or not~

Anyways, one card is from DGM, the other from Bleach. I know several people requested a Reborn card as well, but the file the Reborn illust was on wouldn't open afterwards (hence my 'technical difficulties'. So I sent out another card for now; but I will get around to drawing another card for Reborn fans soon!

For now, I'm just going to relax with the little time I have in Hong Kong...

...so I hope everyone else had a great christmas and will have fun partying in the new year! Woot!

Just want to express how gleeful I felt when I recieved my copy of the book from Borders. I don't think I've ever bounced like that before. Did anyone go to the Hallow's Ball at Borders? Or did they opt to wait for the postie to deliver? Hoho, I was much amused to see photos of the queue in London.

Anywho, I read the book at my own leisurely pace since I avoided the internet and media between friday and saturday. During book 5 and 6, half my friends were reading the book right into the night/wee hours in the morning just to avoid encountering spoilers some smartalec would have typed up on Livejournal/Facebook/other popular sites. Who here has gone through that pressure of rushing through the book, and feel as though the whole experience was ruined because of it?

But I find it so annoying how someone even bothered leaking the Potter story out on the internet before the book's official release date. I mean, what do people like that have to gain from doing such things? So pointless.

Anywho, coincidentally today was also the last day of my GRE class. It's so sad saying goodbye to everyone (some people don't even attend college anymore, and chances of running into them are super slim), and the teacher was so nice to us.

My GRE exam is next friday...just wondering what there is to do after that (maybe retake the GREs if I'm unlucky).

I need to make enough money to break-even with the amount I spent on rent and the GRE course.

Boo hiss.

Not to mention that I've moved into a single room, and is now living in the same building with a complete bunch of asshats. The girl living directly upstairs is as thin as a twig, but yet she manages to walk around her room making sounds as loud as that of the school band. The guy next door is a pseudo-rock'n'roll dude and plays music all hours of the day. The girl down the hall invites shady guests into the building after midnight.

And then there are the drunken gits that threw my bike into the dumpter. And when I say dumpster, I mean those monsterous metal square boxes with those heavy plastic lids. I had to lug my chair outside to the dumpster, don on latex gloves and struggle for half-an-hour to drag my bike back out. I'm so bitter right now.

And Valentines' Day is coming up! I would love to make cards and mail them out to people (this includes whoever is reading this right now, so feel free to send me your address in a note. I promise it'll be for my eyes only), but I have no idea how to do that. Where do I get things printed? How much does it cost? Do I have to sell my liver/toenails/soul to afford it? School has started and it is HELL. I'm juggling work, an internship, plus a full course load within the 168 hours/week I have. (Let's not mention that I'm a complete diva when it comes to getting my naps...I need my 14 hours/day of unconciousness)! On the bright side, they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Woot.

I'm mentally coughing up blood, and I'm getting these nervous twitches (at least that is what I hope they are). I heard that ingesting tons of vitamin B will calm nerves, so I'll give that a try. I'll also go and brainwash myself with some teevee...as soon as I finish the assigned readings from class.

Ah life....enjoy university while you're still a freshman or sohpomore...or senior. Basically, enjoy ungrad life as long as you're not a junior. That's when the works piles up.

-Spending time roaming (and getting totally lost...walked from Harajuku to Shinjuku when we wanted to get to Shibuya. How the hell did we get North and South confused?) Tokyo with my fiends.

-Having an awesome photography session with at the Central Star Ferry Pier. The thing is currently being demolished despite the protests of many people, and it's just sad to see a landmark which you frequented as a child being taken down for the sake of 'development'.

-Going christmas window-shopping with my parents. I got a pair of boots and this weird head-bobbing-thing-powered-by-solar-energy toy (it's called Hidamari no Tami or something) for christmas.

-Just bumming and chilling in Causeway Bay and making lame puns with fiends. Ran into some familiar faces from high school.

-YUM CHA. Plenty of that.

-Having my New Year's countdown at Lan Kwai (apparently I was on teevee when the news cameraman was filming the crowd.....there goes my five seconds of fame), drinking two shots, puking those shots right out, and meeting some very funny-but-drunk people.

And now that I'm back at school, I'm feeling so homesick. At least my new flatmate arrived today, so I won't feel too lonely and mellow for now. Though I hope she won't think I'm spastic if she sees me watching Saturday Morning Cartoons tomorrow.

So far, I've managed to develop an inferiority complex and confidence issues. Is it just me, or is fall becoming increasingly depressing?

-I'm taking this course where our group is supposed to design a course to educate the local highschoolers about L.A. Can you imagine, getting a foreign student to teach the local students about their area of residence.

-I recently failed my driver's exam...AGAIN. Maybe I'm just not meant to operate anything with wheels and an engine. In the future, if you see a person riding a tricycle around L.A. (since I can't ride a two-wheeler), that would be me.

-I've also given up my weekends to do school work at the library and to study for the obscene amount of midterms the profs decided to have this semester. So fewer DA opportunities for me. But I shall still get to work on a promised KandaAllen pic, as well as some AirGear stuff.

-The seniors in my major are all prepared and organised and ready to go to grad school. I have the same intentions as they, but it feels as though they've rush ahead so quickly whereas I am progressing so slowly. 10 Things About My Art

1) Composition is key in most of my drawings, which can be rather limiting at times. I like adding frames or add negative space in my pictures to make everything look more interesting. Woot.

2) Most of my drawings are done when I'm lying on the couch watching teevee. I end up getting shoulder/neck/hand cramps because of staying in that position for too long.

3) Can never draw older looking characters. The characters I draw always look so young.

4) I'm currently really into the D.Grayman art, so I try to draw stuff with elements from the manga. I also love the art style for Eureka Seven, but that is a little out of my league.

5) I can draw backgrounds to some degree, but I prefer not to because when I ink them I lose the impression of depth the sketching pencils create.

6) I'm trying to merge some of the styles I have in the fine arts classes into my anime drawings. Very difficult to do.

7) I don't use references for my pictures, not even for the poses on the characters. I used to use them, but they ended up making the poses overly stiff and unrealistic for some unknown reason.

8) I like using the colour brown. You can tell him my pictures : D

9) Open Canvas for colouring all the way! After using open canvas to colour for so long, I'm not used to using photoshop.

10) I'm still using a mouse to colour even though I bought a tablet off e-bay. How stupid of me.

Which took alot of time and money. Two week's worth of pay to be exact.

Since I had a new harddrive installed, it means I had to reinstall all my programs; i-tunes, etc etc. Unfortunately I left the photoshop disc in HK so right now I have no art programs to use. Which means it'll take even LONGER before I can submit anything.

I asked for directions several times but no one knew anything. So without GPS and geographers, they won't even know where their houses are. Mapmakers deserve alot of love.

The bus journey should have taken me 90 mins; it took me over 3 hours to get to my destination. I ended up being dehydrated and sunburnt from the walk.....I think I'll lie and tell my classmates that I burnt myself at the beach.

So the Spring semester has started [a month ago] and my classes are giving me hell (therefore the lack of DA activity on my part). I have 8am classes from mon-thurs, a ton of work+reading and some classes are irrelevent to my major (so I know none of the material taught). Therefore I am tired, worried and confused. Not a good combination.

Spring break seems so far away....I hope everyone else had a good start to the new school year.

Woot, the one good thing is that I recieved an i-pod nano. Shall boogy....by myself.

The power returned after awhile- but not before half the profs cancelled lectures (some genius decided that lecture halls should be one block of cement that prevents any natural light from flowing in.)

Was hoping that the power shortage would give me the excuse to cook food using a bonfire on the balcony- but the stoves are back in working order. Boo hiss, and my lifelong ambition was to live like a caveman too. (Of course, even if I become a caveman I cannot abandon the comfort of jeans for animal fur.)

Speaking of ambitions, I also hope to get 10,000 kiribans before 2006. This time, do screencap the page if you do reach that number so I can draw someone something!

Anyways, I am back in Los Angeles and has settled into my new dorm. Spiffy, except not looking forward to cooking for myself (soysauce and rice diet, here I come). Unless anyone is innovative enough to teach me how to cook other stuff with only a ricecooker.

Speaking of which, I want to watch Howl's Moving Castle. In the original Japanese version mind you- language barriers be damned! I watched Spirited Away in Japanese without any subtitles and I managed [relatively] fine. I don't want to hear bad subbing for this movie...I might die.

I only watched the trailer so far and its beautiful ;___; (well, Hayao Miyazaki was the art director, could I expect anything less?)

The New semester started all too soon...and on my birthday as well (Jan 10th) but I spent it being ill and dashiong around looking for my classrooms instead. Ah, a taster of what life as a 19 year old is like, not bad not bad.

Recently I've been catching up ona few series: Bleach and D.Grayman are my two favorites so far (both involved fighting and evil things; what more could I ask for?) I am very tempted to save money now so I could buy a few mangas and a new film-using camera once I head back to HK.

About the camera, anyone have any recommendations? The semester's over and all the memories of the midterms and finals are behind me (well, until the grades are annouced- then I'll have even more memories to repress) and the dorms are closed for the winter break (you'll think that with the amount we pay for the tuition and dorms they would have the grace to let us international students stay over the break).

So, because I'm practically banned from the dorms for the entire winter break, I'm in Toronto right now; leeching food off my relatives and freezing my arse off with the lovely *cough* and fair *cough* weather here. How smashing.

I paid a visit to niamo a few days ago at his campus (thanks again for the dorm space and food! I'll treat you to lunch/dinner back in HK in summer) but now I'm holed up at my relative's place again. I'm grateful that they have a PC and internet, but...

...they don't have any art programs on their PC (it's such a taboo situation to me). Which means I'm stuck here and won't be able to submit anything on DA for the next few weeks. Oh joy is me- but at least I took precaution and brought a sketch book along with me on this trip.

So far, life in univeristy is fairly uneventful. During my flight to LA, I managed to catch a fever and intestinal infection. Right after I arrived on campus I caught a cold...in the middle of August. Not exactly the best way to start college.

Oh a brighter note, the campus is very pretty and fairly small...and only a bus ride from the city center. I'm quite pleased with the surroundings, plenty of trees. And plus, my dorm room has a mini fridge and a mirowave provided.

The ceremony started at 3:00pm and despite my protests, my parents insisted on making an appearence. The good thing is that they toned down their instincts to humiliate me (meaning that photo-taking was kept at a minimum). I'm also pleased that I did not trip when I went to collect my diploma from the principle, but when I watched the video of that scene I noticed that I didn't walk- I GLIDED.

may 13th:
Art dinner at 7:00pm. Went to Coyote first for a round of 'alcoholic' mango drinks (courtesy of our art teachers) and then crossed the road to the restuarant for a REAL dinner.

Sadly, after I ate the spicy prawn I excused myself from the table to vomit- I have the lowest alcohol tolerance (the stuff we had before was more like fruit juice) and my stomach was sensitive against mangoes. So after I vomited the stuff back out I felt tons better and resumed eating. Everyone joked, laughed, ate and were extremely pleased (not so with the price though, each person had to pay $130. But it's half expected anyways.)

After dinner, a few people in the group (cough teachers cough) suggested going to another bar so we did. But this time I sat back and watched everyone else drink their beers and tell stories. After that I went home because I had 5 essays to finish for the next day (I only did 2 in the end).

May17th- 18th:
Night before the last day of school. Went to Esther's (taf) house first to drop off my sleepover stuff and then met up with Charz (staticblue). Took the minibus to Central with the rest of the Baguio people and then taxied our way to Wan Chai, where the entire year 13 was in The Valley already drinking and dancing (the fee was $150 and was unlimited amount of drinks from 10pm -3am).

Being the responsible designated child that I was (my friends appointed me because they knew I had no alcohol tolerance so I wouldn't drink) I only has 4 glasses of water the entire time and stayed very sober. But Esther, Charz, Connie, Alvin- hell, MOST the year 13s- story was different. So funny watching them get pissed and drunk and make fools of themselves on the dancing floor.

Not as fun when Kenneth (niamo- possibly one of the few others that did not consume too much alcohol), Gavin and I had to help a few of them try and get home. Gavin and Kenneth took Alvin to a taxi whilst I was trying to find Esther and Charz and pry them home (it was 2:50am at the time). We were delayed abit, and in the end Dominic and Jay drove us back to Baguio at 3:40am.

Cleaned up and went to sleep at 4:30am- but we had to be in school by 6:00am in order to set up the preparations for the last day (namely, to prank the younger years). I was a shame that Esther, Charz and I woke at 8:00am and that we missed the waterfight, but the rest of the day was still very fun.

Spent the first half of the day sleeping in the common area (the people drunk from last night were lying everywhere on the couches with hangovers) and during the second half of the day we got to have a BBQ (where apparently the chef's theory was that no food is cooked until it is burnt). We also watched a video of ourselves replying to the question 'what would you be in 10 years time?' and found the most amusing answers. Charz (staticblue) claimed she'll look like Winnie the Pooh, Hyun (gattomattohatto) said that he'll lose excess weight and get plastic surgery in Korea and become a popstar.

The day ended with the song 'Reach for the stars' being played on the stereo. A little sad that our school life in West Island ended so soon, but at least we still have the formal and graduation to look forward to....as well as the bloody exams. RAWR.

....I HAVE DONE NOTHING OVER THE HOLIDAYS!

I feel like kicking myself (I really would do so, but my foot can't reach anywhere near my head- I swear I move like a robot) because I feel like I slacked off at the most vital time of the year. I should be revising! Preparing for exams! Instead I slept through a third of my holidays..... ah well, no point in whining about it now, bext to move on with it and try and get the work done (Ne, this happens every year anyways).

On a more positive note, my hamsters are doing fine. Totes was running so fast in his wheel that I think electricity could've been generated and Riceball learnt how to climb up a chopstick held at a near vertical angle. Hm.....

ESF choir has begun, but is still quite chaotic because only a fraction of the people know the lyrics (or SING, as a matter of fact) and the concert is in 2 weeks. Can't wait to see how that turns out. And the best bit is that we're all to dress in black -guys get bowties, and girls must be cover from ankles to neckline. And arms can't be exposed either. We'll be a choir of ringwraiths (sorry, I read Lord of the Rings and couldn't help using the term) and we'll sound like it too- screeeeeeeching in a language we don't even know.

In school, I recieved my term report card and it wasn't so bad:

geography- B

But I am rather dissapointed with geo because I wanted to take that as a major in university (which, I must say, I haven't heard replies from any yet -dying from stress!) but I'll try and work harder. Well, I did TRY today when I had the geography essay on industries... but all in all the thing was horrible.

December is a month of many stressful events for me:

1st: Choir practice

3rd: Last session of life drawing after school

4th: Choir practice

6th: SAT ll's (Maths lC, World History and Writing)

7th: Went out to buy ingredients and equipment for cookie baking.

8th: Psychology Test (I actually got 100% on it- strange forces of the world)

9th: Charity bake sale- made star shape cookies and actually sold all of them (I tasted one- it was salty)

11th: Choir practice

14th: Choir performance at Pacific Place

15th: Coursework deadline for Pyschology.

Joy is me. I still have loads to do because my winter exams are going to take place during my Chinese New year (geography Jan 22nd, psychology Jan 23rd) because in the UK the students don't get a holiday during that period.

Quite sad to miss out my last 'Bai Leen' in Hong Kong, but the pro of all this is that I don't have to face my relatives. Noisy, illogical bunch they are; they think that just because I enroll in an international school and that I speak English half the time does not mean that I don't understand Chinese. Each year I'm like one of those pet dogs everyone coos over ("aww she understands what was said, how clever".

Another depressing note is that I brought my hamster Totes back to South Horizons (my parents that live in Chinese University are going on holiday to Vietnam for 4 days). Unfortunately, Totes refused to be civil to my other hamster (Rat) and proceeded to attack Rat. I seperated them as soon as possible.

I really hope I do well. (I forgot to celebrate for my TOEFL results). Another highlight would be that I recently recieved mail from my friend that moved to England recently. It's nice to have a correspondant from England now, though he did originate from Canada.

In terms of my art life, it's coming along fine. I'm slacking abit but I still draw everyday with pencil and paper. School supplies us with models for life drawings, and I actually put effort into those. I don't really oekaki much anymore and thats because my IE closes on its own at the most random moments. And I spend almost 3 hours on each oekaki (unless it's a really rough one) so...I wouldn't want the browser to close during the session, right?

This was my half term week holiday, where I'm supposed to take a break of the strain and bulk of school work. Blasted A-levels deprived me of a life. Apparently I'm going to be re-taking my M1 exam in November, and my SAT ll's on December 6th.

Life is good (that is if I'm psychotic).

Not much has happened recently, except the fact that on the last Sunday I went to the local Amusement park (Ocean Park; what an original name) for the Halloween Special. Went on most of the best rides and became deaf (guy called Eric kept shrieking even though the roller-coaster was going UP) and went into one of the haunted houses called the 'Legend of Shogun' and came out with a bruised arm (I was pulled around by my friends from room to room in their maniac shrieking). In the end it was all good.

Yesterday I went to live in the house in the Chinese University campus (dad has huge dormitory there) and continued being dorky by finishing the 1500 piece puzzle.

Arty-farty life:

Being half term I get tons of time, even though I should be revising. But scrap that. I've been playing with open canvas as of late, and decided to start on a long term picture for halloween. Yay.

Though most of my friends prefered to dive into the water and swim to Clearwater Beach, I stayed on board with Charz and Yuki and dwelled onto the upper deck and air-con wasn't needed on such a hot day- the ocean wind was wonderful.

When the swimmers got back, we had a large lunch (including watermelon) and afterwards some got back to swimming, and once again I went to the upper deck and napped in the shade. Whilst lying on the bench, listening to music, looking at the sky and feeling the wind, I reflected that there aren't enough days like these.

[ Don't get me wrong, I've been fairly lucky already; I lived right next to the ocean for the past 9 years, and I also went to the Geography fieldtrip to the Vietnam coastlines with my classmates (where we spent only a quarter of the time working and the rest of the time slacking off). But I never realized how much I'll really miss these kind of days.

Because next year, I'll be flying off overseas to continue my education. Because this year, some people I know are leaving and even if we'll meet again, it just won't be the same as before. I know everyone's always connected in the modern world- what, with the internet and stuff but some connections and bonds depend not only technology to be maintained.

Sometimes I don't like the changes that take place. ]

I was snapped out of my thoughts when the swimmers got back and it was time to return to the pier. The returning trip was the best part; everyone sat on the top deck in the sunset and chatted away happily. Don't ask me why, I just love it when everyone is comfy and cheerful (I had similar thoughts when the geography class ate dinner next to the beach in Vietnam under the stars). Call me sentimental, call me a sap, but that's what I normally am. The day ended when I got off the boat, and I bid everyone goodbye for now.

That was a nice close to my summer days. And now, I must dash and finish off any loose work I haven't completed, or organize my bookshelf and closet for school. July 8th: Went out with geography class to Lamma island and hiked.

July 12th: Community service- selling flags in Central.

July 15th: Work experience at Chinese University.

July 18th~19th: Went out to Lan Kwai Fong for drinks, and slept over at Charz's. Was very amusing watching Charz get half-way pissed.

July 24th: Goodbye dinner for Alvena at Shooters 52.

July 25th: TOEFL exam with Kenneth (Niamo). Went to Esther's (taf) house for a sleepover along with Charz (staticblue) and Heidi. Except there was no sleep, because we had to finish our gift for Alvena and also because we watched movies.

July 26th: Got to airport at 6 something am to say goodbye to Alvena, also to hand her our gift.

July 30th: Out photographing Central's scenery.

August 5th: Daniel Ko's leaving dinner.

August 6th: Pool game organized by Daniel Ko. Except I left very early.

August 7th~ 11th: JAPAN WEEK! TOKYO ALL READY!

August 12th: Lo's goodbye dinner at the Regel Kowloon Hotel.

August 14th: AS exam results collection day.

August 16th: treated myself to a hair dye with Charz at Salon Revolution. I mean, come one, I got Geography A, Art B, Psychology B and failed only maths. I even racked up a 267/300 in TOEFL. Final Fantasy Unlimited (FF:U)

And I found that I adored it. I know I'm abit slow catching onto the series (hell, the whole world might have seen it already) but blame HK. Even being so close to Japan we don't get priority in anime.

It wasn't the fact that the animation in FF:U was particularly good, and the plot was he typical "good verus evil" one, but something really sets it apart from normal anime. Must be the lack of sentimental sappiness...

Nothing else that's new lately. I took my AS level exams already for the subjects Geography, Psychology and Art. I did the mechanics paper already, and I still have the Stats and pure to go. After that, it's bye bye to maths for me.

Also my parents bought me a Gloomy bear. (If you don't know what it is, go to chax.net) It had blood on it's claws...so adorable.

I have my entire winter gear ready- wooly hat, rainbow gloves, scarf, socks, leg warmers and a lifetime supply of those warmergotchi's... and I even planned out my Christmas!

1) Set up Christmas tree, set up traps for santa. (tree as decoy to attract santa to big hidden net)
2) hibernate
3) maybe go out for christmas shopping...when people buy me things
4) get into the Christmas of sharing....as soon as someone has things I want them to share with me
5) give out christmas gifts (that they recipent has given to me several years back that I didn't want)
6) Bring joy to the world with the misery of cows (BEEF TIME!)
7) Tell children santa doesn't exist anymore (I would have most likely caught him in my decoy tree plan already) and shatter their dreams

Each subjects has 2 teachers, and each teacher gives HW....plus general studies......so that's about 9 Homeworks for me. fun fun fun- OW, f*cking headache hurts again when I'm excited.

I barely get enough sleep, and end up dosing off in maths...but then who wouldn't? It's MATHS.

Ah well, I'm still raising time to draw.......I don't mind giving up a few moments of rest to draw.
