*ahem*

So uhh, yeah... had a rather fucked up time last week, don't want any repeat peformances, so I have drugs. They told me it would take a couple of weeks til they help, but they're helping me already... mleh, it's probably just the placebo effect; I hope so.

I may look into aquiring myself a copy of Photoshop on this crappy PC... not done anything new in months.
Hugs for all.

So, having had trouble with my PC freezing for a while now, I discovered that my initial thoughts that it was related to the processor overheating were in fact entirely true. I'd been wasting around 2 months trying to work out what else was wrong because in all my idiocy I'd been checking the wrong diode for CPU temperature, and where I thought the CPU was running at about 55C, it was actually running at about 63C idle, and tipping over 70C when running any games (Athlon btw, xp3000+). This is hot... in all respects it's a damn good idea to shut your pc down long before it starts getting close to 70C.

"So," I thought to myself, "I'll open the warm thing up, blow some dust out, clear the fans, check nothing's blocking the airflow..."

All well and good, except I put it back together and now it doesn't want to boot any more. I don't even get a system beep, so unless it's just too quiet to be audible, that means my BIOS isn't even being accessed. The fans start whirring, the hard drive access light comes on, and it stays on. That'll teach me to be lazy about earthing myself when I'm doing these things. Unless anybody has any bright ideas about what else could be the problem, I'm guessing I need a new motherboard.

Right now I'm online using an old PC which was also fairly screwed, so I decided to fromat and install XP on it. This was a bad idea as it's far too weak to run it and likes to lock up within a minute unless I run in safe mode.

I don't like this; a Nerd without his PC is a Nerd without a soul.
