Last night I had to abandon my car at work and walk home. Of course... I work on the very top of the steepest hill in the city. Walking down was interesting. All over there were cars that had slipped off the road. The entire hill was covered in accidents. emergency lights flashed in the darkness, while police sirens were heard from the base. I slipped myself and nearly fell a couple of times. And just as the snow started to ease up, I began to feel as though I was in one of those apocalypse movies. As if I was one of the few survivors, stumbling around for shelter from the storm.

I know, right..but using one's imagination must help for heating up the brain. It took my mind off the cold at least.

Finals week is nearly over, but the work's just getting underway. I've been recruited onto one more film since the last entry. This one's for Base14, who's last award winning film is currently on tour nationwide, and is about to be released on DVD. Unfortunately however, I'm not allowed to say anything about the new film, or show my production work to the public (unless I get permission). I can say that I will be doing backgrounds, storyboards, and concept art for the film.

The director, who I met at "The Animation Show of Shows" here in Savannah, asked for my business card. I pulled out a crinkled piece of scrap paper from my wallet and quickly scribbled my information down as he handed me a thick, shiny new black and orange business card. I felt completely unprofessional. Thank goodness he still looked at my work haha.

All I can say is: it's a great (and slightly stressful) feeling when homework gets in the way of "actual" work. I'll be working on this film and at least one other over the break, extensively. My Deviantart may suffer slightly due to publicity restrictions..so I apologize in advance.

Hope everyone is getting through finals okay! Nearly to the finish now!

~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by =FleX177
</sup>

I am a superhero..well..no not even close. But for my sequential project I have to write and create a comic entitled "My Life as a Superhero." The whole class chose superpowers. I chose the ability to stop time. Honestly, what is more useful for a college student balancing Halloween weekend, a comic, and a thrity second, full color animation, with music and sound effects? Clockstopper saves the day again! If only.

The new Tegan and Sara album, Sainthood, came out on Wednesday! I rushed to the mall and picked it up, and is very pleased! The new single, "Hell," is one of their best songs in my opinion, catchy like "The Con." The new album is more "pop-rock" than their older songs, but it's still got that Tegan and Sara quirkiness. And I love that about those adorable twins.

How was everyone's Halloween? Please, I want to know your costumes! My friends had great costumes, including Tippi Hedren from the 1963 classic, "The Birds." We spent all day making it a real eye-catcher. We felt real nice when a group of Savannah City Firemen asked to have their photos taken with us!

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by =FleX177
</sup>

The weather here, aside from today which was still nice in it's own way, has made me want to visit the beach. It's so beautiful, just so pleasant. I must find time aside from all my work, which seems endless but totally worth it. Sugar Ninja's was published (!!!), so if you want to help support us sequential artists of the female variant, please check it out. And aside from school work, I've been offered some work as a concept artist and storyboard artist for some smaller production projects, but still exciting projects none the less. I couldn't be happier. I already get to do the kind of work I want to do professionally, and it's blowing my mind how much luck has swung my way recently. I'd like to say thanks to all my friends and professors who continue to support and help me "live the dream" as they say. I am completely unworthy, but very grateful.

Also, I bought Scribblenauts for the DS after hearing some very convincing reviews from friends. So far I've managed to solve each level with the words "wings, hungry man, cupid, and T-Rex." Excellent game, highly recommended.

And for those of you who have not seen "Let the Right One In," see it. It's a Swedish horror (plus romance) film about a young boy and a vampire. This film basically made me like vampires again after...
Thank you, Swedish film industry, for rejuvenating my faith in nocturnal bloodsucking super-humans of the undead. The mood of the film is haunting and invoking, while the cinematography alone is top-par. The "burst into flames" scene, oohhh yes.

~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by =FleX177
</sup>

This summer has flown by, and I am disappointed in myself for not updating. I swear, school is just around the corner and I'm just getting into my major, So I should feel more attuned to making art. I've been doodling for months, but I've promised some work to friends and it's taken priority. This summer is without a doubt the busiest I've had in a long while. But also the most memorable.

I don't think I have ever looked forward to starting school as much as I do this year. Last year was..lackluster. This year holds a lot of new opportunities because I am officially doing the work I want to learn. Let's draw some comics! (I still think I have the coolest major known to mankind.)

So- Here's to the new school year, and the last few weeks of summer. cheers. : )

~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by =FleX177
</sup>

Thank you so much everyone who has visited the gallery!!!! I promise to continue to try my hardest to make each visit better with new art from me! I know the past few years have been pretty on and off, but deviantart has proven to be a reliable source of gallery space for me, so I'm gonna keep it up! (Or at least try : ) You all have served as not only wonderful inspiration and motivation for me, but also wonderful friends that I am so grateful for. Thanks!

A gift from me will come soon. I'm on vacation right now so it's a little hard to get any work done. Sorry!

Commissions are still a plan, but due to an unlikely turn of events I have been offered a job as a model! guess that's what you get when you hang out in California, huh? hehe, well I'm pretty excited. If all pans out right, this may prove to be a pretty good source of MUCH NEEDED income. Either way, I will always love work from you guys over any dumb model job, so I'm going to try my best to make these art commissions a reality.

Gift..
For you..
when I get back home!

Have a great July!
Hey guys I'm less than 100 views away from the 15,000 mark!!!! That's pretty big! if we just forget the fact that it actually took me five years to get there...yeah lets just do that..

I am excited! Today is San Fransisco : ) Then on to the Monterrey Aquarium with some old friends. I haven't been to the aquarium since I was seven, and supposedly it is one of the best ones on the pacific. I'm pretty stoked- especially since they have a new exhibit on seahorses, and I mean- what's more exciting than tiny horses???

Then it's down to Los Angeles for me! I convinced my mother to send me down alone, but I'll be meeting up with friends. Pasadena is gorgeous. I almost ended up going to school there actually, at Art Center, which has a wonderful concept art program. Not sure what I'll do down there. Beach, Hollywood, Disneyland. Btw, This is what summer is all about when you can't find a job! haha! (that's right all you suckers who found a source of income)

But once all my fun and foolery is done it's back to Portland. I'm not complaining my friend Harlan has some poke-presents for me waiting. If only he'd give me his shineys (Ninetails and Roserade, c'mon!)...but I've begged him too much already. More nights of dancing is in store for me and the guys, and Voodoo Doughnuts, where "the magic is in the hole."

Better start working on my thank you for everyone who has visited the gallery. I really appreciate it! You guys are great, as always.

Take Care!!!
~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by *FleX177
</sup>

Not that I'm complaining- optimism is excellent. Commissions are still a go, but I need to stop procrastinating and get my act together. They will be ready soon, I promise. A lot has been going on lately. Grad parties, homecoming lunches, pokemon battles (of course!), my brother's birthday, KUNG-FU!!!, and a very energetic night out clubbing.

Those of you from SCAD, especially those in the Sequential Department, probably know about Bob Pendarvis and his unfortunate situation. Basically, Bob was fired from SCAD for giving out too many A's. (I know!, right?) Bob is a great guy who not only offered me a place in his book the first time we met, but has been a great friend and professor to all his students. He deserves the right to teach in the department he started! If anyone is interested- I have the full story from Bob himself as well as info on how to help him out- give me your email address and I'll forward you all the info.

I hope everyone is safe and well, and enjoying an excellent and beautiful summer!

~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by *FleX177
</sup>

Hey everyone!

I will soon be offering summer commissions of personal characters or concept artwork as requested. I'm still working out the prices, so any suggestions would be appreciated. How much would you be willing to pay for a full character sketch? color?

The payment would be via Paypal, and each buyer would receive a high resolution, print quality file in addition to a smaller web-ready jpg. I will be devoting all of my time and effort to these due to the fact that- not only do I value your purchase- but this would be my sole source of income for the entirety of the summer.

So I'm hoping to have everything worked out and in order by next week, and am looking forward to hearing from those of you who may be interested!!!

Thanks, have a great start to summer!

~Cassandra

<sup>
CSS Journal Coded by *FleX177
</sup>
