<sub>really, i do. i know we're all inspired by people and our ideas come as a result from them, but i feel like too of my ideas are based off of those around me and who i admire. sometimes i am just seeing everything and anything and my bones are bursting with the knowledge of all that is amazing and beautiful and poetic. sometimes i am real. but sometimes i am just taking pictures because i love it, because im addicted to it, but i dont feel that i deserve the attention ive been getting lately. of course im grateful for it, but idk.. i feel like people think im better than i am.

im just a girl. and sometimes im good at what i do and sometimes i get mediocre results. and sometimes i dream and see beauty and sometimes i am patient and kind and understanding and sometimes my love reaches for miles and is unbreakable, but sometimes i am the selfish girl who is an extreme procrastinator, sometimes i am impatient and bitchy, sometimes i am quick to judge and quick to anger and quick to fight. sometimes i am hurt easily and i dont know what im doing or where im going and i feel socially awkward. sometimes i am shy of who i am and i dont know how to interact and have fun with people i dont know well.

im frequently annoying, frequently childlike (in both good and bad ways), and it feels like im either laughing or annoyed. i am not what i wish i was.. the quiet but fun, beautiful girl who people take a liking to immediately because of the good nature she seems to have flowing around her. sometimes i wait. i wait for myself to come back and kick myself into gear and you know what? i dont even get myself because i am so self aware but selfishly unaware at the same time. how is that possible?

anyway, this is more of a diary entry to myself than addressed to you guys. i mean it is, but if you dont respond or dont know what to say, dont worry-- i dont expect you to.

im not really feeling down right now, im just frustrated with my lack of artisticness... i mean i took an "are you right brained or left brained" test and my initial result is left brained... opposite of an artist's brain. i can make it go back and forth pretty quickly and now whenever i re-look at it its usually my right brain, but i think im just saying this to try to assure myself that i am right brained. ughhh hahah, im just rambling. sorry.

also, last night i went to a concert featuring The Static Jacks , a band from my highschool that Corey and I are friends with, to take pictures for them. They dropped out of college last year to tour, and theyre doing well as far as i know, which is great! i may put a concert pic or two up and move them to scraps if i have time, but who knows

I have the flu! D:
moldy. im glad that im probably going to get it over with before i go home though
i cantttt wait to go home, i miss my privacy so much. and i cant wait for next fall, where im going to have an apartment with single bedrooms! thank god! hehe.

anyway the other day, this girl from my school asked me if i could shoot for this section in an on campus mag, so i said yes. the theme is international and im going in less than an hour. im worried because i havent gotten a chance to eat yet for ridiculous reasons that i will not mention in my journal, and all ive had to eat today was a bowl of cheerios D:
plus im still really feverish :\

I have no idea what the models look like or what to expect, so i guess we'll see! if i really like the photos one or two will go on here, and if theyre mediocre ill put a few on flickr, but to be honest i doubt ill love any because im REALLY tired of shooting at night and indoors and, well, im sick. i misssss the light of day so much. hopefully ill be able to do my own shoot soon

<sub>i want to create magic, i want to live. my friends and i decided to recapture life and stop wasting away in our dorm rooms. we stayed out from 11pm-330am last night freezing to watch the meteor shower. i thought i saw one for sure meteor, one maybe meteor/maybe shooting star, and three shooting stars. joe says all shooting stars are meteors. so maybe i saw 5 meteors. anyway, it was sad because there were supposed to be 500/hour, but i still had a great night breathing the crisp air and talking with my best friends. i refuse to live my life without intention, and i will have as many beautifully full days and nights as i possibly can for the rest of my life.

i have no idea why. ive been feeling so hollow and dead in a way that i never have before.. im worried that it may be a side effect of some medication that im taking. i have no desire to do my work at school, which is a major problem. its a chore for me to even come on here and look at/answer stuff, which is strange for me. i feel like my latest photos (not posted on here) have no soul. i am not even trying to get a shoot together at the moment.. and thats SO weird for me.

<sub>i really want to start working with models in agencies around me. have you ever done this? these are people that are not on modelmayhem. i am wondering how to go about this, especially since i am hoping to do shoots for trade. i know that some models who are agency signed are still willing to do TF* shoots, but im not sure if this is the case if i contact them through the agency. any information on the subject would be really appreciated!

second, im really interested in getting a team of people together-- mua, hair stylist, wardrobe stylist or clothing designer, etc. any advice as to how to go about this?

<sub>hey everyone, thank you SOOO much for your support lately. ive been doing my best to keep up answering comments, sorry if it takes me awhile to do so! i sincerely appreciate every single comment, favorite, and watch that i get. it really means so much to me. so thank you <3

a couple things have been on my mind lately.

1. i received a comment on this piece that really made me sad. it was from a 13 year old aspiring model, who very nicely suggested that Susan "look sexi not like ur lost".

it just makes me sad because this young girl seems to think that sexiness is the ultimate and possibly one of the only forms of beauty, when that is so so so far from true. in my opinion, though sexiness definitely has its place in the beauty department, it is one of the cheapest forms of beauty. it made me really think about what images are being portrayed to young girls, and i think of all the CREEPS on modelmayhem whose photographs are clearly lacking any visual or artistic appeal besides the sexual clothing (or lackthereof) and positions that the women are in... it just makes me sad.

maybe i dont see too much of this because i choose not to look at it. i dont know. theres nothing more for me to say about this, it just bothered me, thats all.


2. smoking (and tanning) and cancer

i know this may be a sensitive topic for some, and i know many artists smoke, but i dont mean this to offend. i just want to say something to smokers (and tanners). i know you've heard all the health risks, and you know its costly and in smoking's case, not good for the environment. if you still havent made up your mind to sincerely try your best to quit, or you need a real reason to quit that involves people other than yourself (sometimes its easier to let yourself down than others), please consider this.

my mom has had cancer for half of my life now (im 18), and ive seen how it can affect a person, how much pain and discomfort and emotional trauma they go through. but most of all i KNOW how it affects the people who love them, because ive personally gone through that. it is such a terrible thing when someone you love has cancer, and you dont ever know what the outcome will be. watching them go through so much suffering and wondering when and if they will die is a terrible, terrible thing. i could really elaborate here, but i wont, though if you need motivation or want to know, id be happy to tell you.

my mom has never smoked in her life. she is a great person. she doesnt deserve to have cancer, she never did anything to put herself at risk for it, but she does. and i guess what im saying is that i dont know why anyone would knowingly choose to put themselves at great risk for this (though i know older smokers didnt know all the facts back in the day).

so if you need a reason to quit, do it for the people who love you, who dont want to watch you suffer.

do it out of respect for those who have fought, are fighting, or have lost against cancer, by showing that you do realize how terrible of a disease it is, and trying to prevent it from happening to you.


obviously, this is very personal to me, and im sorry if it offends anyone, because its not meant to.

i think that its especially appropriate because it's Breast Cancer Awareness month (which is the main type of cancer my mom has) and even though that is unrelated to smoking, it seems to be a good time to address it.

plus, one of my best friends is quitting, and im really proud of her.
but watching someone quit (shes doing well, too!) has made me think about this a lot lately.

<sub>So first of all, I just want to profusely thank all of you-- I am completely overwhelmed by your support. I cant even tell you how much it means to me... I am soo passionate about photography, and to get my work recognized and praised makes me feel absolutely amazing and humbled. Ive been doing my best to answer all the comments, and I will finish replying, I promise! Please forgive me if a take a little time <3

Now, as you may know, I've been inspired by people like =M-a-e-e and *fille-ordinaire who do amazing, amazing features, mostly on under-appreciated photographers. Not only are they both fantastic artists, but they have GREAT taste, so I suggest you take some time to watch these two if you arent already (;

Though most of my features will be of photographers, I think that its important to feature =CSnyder first, for two reasons-- he has constantly supported me as a photographer ever since I can remember, and has really inspired me to keep up what Im doing, and 2, he is a fantastic photo manipulator whose talent can not be ignored! Thank you for everything Chris!!

The first is paper.lillies . Unfortunately I couldnt find her on dA, so please please please take my word for it and look at her photostream. I am astounded by her. She is a 15 year old photographer, and every single one of her photos is amazing with so much feeling and emotion and truly amazing light. hey everyone, im going to boston on the 2nd and moving into my dorm at northeastern university on the 3rd! im so excited, i really cant wait (:

well, despite the poll results, i decided on a nikon d700, and i ordered it yesterday!! (: (: (:
it hurt a little to give up the thought of getting the canon 5d mark ii, but as i continue reading reviews and thinking, i believe that i made the best choice for myself-- the only way i can allow myself to buy this is as an investment, and a lot of my money through photography will be from candids of little kids running around. in reviews, i read that canon 5d mark ii was not a camera for action or for kids running around, specifically because it is slower to focus, so with that and for a few other reasons (i have two lenses that will work with d700, i like the ergonomics better, and i saved $800) i decided on the nikon d700 (:

sorry for the rambling! anywayy , i now have a nikon d80, a nikkor 55-200mm VR lens, a brand new nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens, a brand new tamron 17-50mm f2.8 lens, and maybe my also brand new SB600 external flash FOR SALE! if you'd rather buy a d60 for less, then i have a trade worked out with a friend from school, so i could sell you that instead.

all of these are for sale separately. when i say brand new, i mean that i bought them in july, i have them in their original boxes, and (the tamron at least) has the warranty with it still (i ordered it from B&H). The flash has a manual, as well (:

<sub>the collab shoot was AWESOME. The only thing was that I accidentally left my ISO speed on 1600 D: D: D: D:
the pics arent that nice quality wise, but I like them besides that! Sarah and I started shooting with the two professional models, then went to Julia 's house with one of my friends to finish the shoot! Unfortunately, Julia had school shenanigans in the morning and wasnt able to join us until the models had left

But her pics of Hayley are BEAUTIFUL, so go check them out and fave fave fave!!

hey everyone, Im finally back from vacation!! I have new stuff to upload later, and I still have to catch up on deviations/comments/replies etc. I hope everyone is doing really well!

In other AWESOME news, ~auroille and AuroraWinter and I are having a collab shoot with at least two models (found via ModelMayhem) on the 28th!! expect AMAZING pictures

I also have a couple new models to shoot (eventually), my first guy model, a CD cover shoot, and more coming up, so yay!

My boyfriend and I went to the drive in the other night to see HP6, the drive in was wonderful as usual, but I just have to say, HP6 sucked. The books are SO MUCH BETTER! I always get excited for the next movie until I remember how bad they are compared to the amazing books

sorry Ive been kinda slow lately. I have a lot that I can put up, Im just overwhelmed by it all. Im graduating tomorrow (yay!!) so I got two new lenses and a flash, which Im SO excited to use! <sub>I got in a car accident friday but I wasnt at fault, so now Im waiting on the money. My car is only worth 1k so its going to be considered totaled Since inspection isnt til december, though, and I cant bring my car to college and it is drivable, Im just going to use the money I get to buy a nikon d300 and put the rest into savings and worry about buying a new car later.

Also, my underwater housing for my nikon d80 is coming today! yay
Its rainy today , but if it comes in time were going to use it on a rainy shoot today. Im not sure how well that will work out, but whatever. Im excited for warmer weather so that I can use it in the pool and in the ocean and such!

Also, shoot tomorrow, itll finally be sunny!!

<sub>I went to the Market in NYC this past weekend to try and see if I could start working with designers (this is a part of my senior project). I emailed one of my favorites last night, Abby S.F. Also, Im thinking about getting a new lens. One of the 17/18-50mm f 2.8s or the 17-70 f2.8. And Im getting an underwater housing for my camera! All I need now is money... hehe So Im hoping to get a job with hours that are compatible with softball, wish me luck!

Looks like I wont be going to the college of my choice (Northeastern University in Boston) next year. I submitted the FAFSA , but Ill still have to pay $32,500 a year... which is ridiculous because we definitely do not have that money. If youre interested in knowing the bad luck, I dont mind telling you, but Ill spare you here
I had already started talking to people and found a roommate, so it just sucks.

And Im annoyed cause Ive had no time to take pictures lately. Meh.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, knows of any scholarships, photography contests with cash prizes, ideas to make money (aside from a job, which I had to quit for softball season but will be taking up again in June), etc, I would really, really appreciate it.

Or if you can cheer me up, thatd be great too.

Sorry Ive been so slow lately on replying and actively watching and stuff. I feel terrible about it and Im trying to catch up now!

We just had such nice, warm weather, and now its snowing again! Honestly, I dont really mind what kind of weather it is, because it can all be used for photos, but I am a bit tired of my models freezing to death on shoots...

Anyway, I have a few things planned for this week, but on Friday, softball starts... ugh. That means photoshoots only on weekends until late May or early June

I hope everyones doing ok, and there IS a feature coming soon, I just havent had time to collect all the thumbs yet!

Oh, and if you like the tights in the recent pictures, they are available in 4 different styles, as seen in the description of shots with the tights in it. Its done with spray paint, and dried immediately after which mutes the smell and sets the color.

They are $10 dollars a pair, if youre interested (Shipping included) for US residents. Anyone outside the US, Ill have to ask the post office

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with my decision. I decided on the Nikon D80.

I bought it used along with a 28-85 Nikkor lens on Ebay, then bought a 55-200mm VR Nikkor lens on Ebay seperately. And I bought a big memory card, which is the only thing Im waiting on currently (though I do have enough memory on my current cards to get me through )

Overall, I saved a TON of money by using Ebay.. I definitely reccomend it.

Im really excited to start using it for real, but so far I only have a few pictures up that were taken purely because I am so desperate to use it

Anyway, its been crappy weather here and very busy, so as much as I want to take pictures galore, there hasnt been much of an oppertunity. But in February, Im going to Florida one weekend and Boston the next, so hopefully Ill get some nice shots during that time

Oh, and I have two friends that Im takingfor a photoshoot soon, so a few of those may turn out nicely, too!

Anyway, enjoy these winter months, we'll be in moldy March before you know it

Im thinking of getting a new camera, because I'm not too happy with my current Canon Digital rebel 350D. I like it and all, but I'm thinking of upgrading to something else, preferably a Nikon, or maybe a Panasonic (I love my old Panasonic Lumix).

Any ideas?
