Gaahh after going, I'm all inspired to take my art to the next level. I WANT TO MAKE PRINTS AND MAKE MONIES! But looking at my gallery, there's hardly anything in there I'd want to make a print of. And those few that I'd consider making a print of have inconsistent styles x___x So my aim for the next following months are to complete finished artworks with a consistent style. If possible. hahahaha

So my Buutifuruu got me into DGM ages ago, but I was only able to read vol 1 and was stuck on that volume for months and months (just like how I'm stuck on DN vol 5 because I have no money to continue buying it T_T). I finally found a site where you could dl DGM vol 1-10 and for the past 3 days I've been trying to catch up with the story hahahaha I'M SO HOOKED @_@

10 THINGS ABOUT MY ART

1. I won't stop with a pic unless I'm satisfied with the colours.

2. I'm so used to drawing on the computer that when I draw something traditionally that has turned out unproportioned, I keep telling myself "It's OK. Just gotta scan and pop it in Photoshop, and you'll be right!" XD;; But I still like traditonal art more, though I'm most comfortable with digital. lolz.

3. I love making OCs but if I make too many, I'll eventually get sick of the older ones and abandon them. I also limit my OCs at a time because it's difficult for me to remember all of their details and info haha. My most loved OC is none other than Shiro, who is unashamedly the embodiment of my dream guy. Oh come on, everyone's gotta make one some time! Haha. Thing, is, he wasn't supposed to be that in the first place, but he eventually did as I developed him further. Currently, I'm filled up with OCs (4 main characters is enough for me) and am not looking forward to creating any more.

4. I don't have a distinctive style. T_T

5. I don't like limiting myself to drawing the same poses, so I'm usually always looking through photos for references. I even have a folder called "references" purely for poses (it's not particularly big though XD). I can draw without references, but it takes ages for me sketch it out with the correct proportions and such, especially if it's on a dynamic angle or something.

6. Fav part of the working progress are the final touch-ups. Least fav is lineart and colouring X"D. Actually, it depends on my mood. If the colours are turning out really well, then I'd obviously enjoy them the most. But I edit and change the colours almost always during the final touch-ups.

7. I like experimenting and trying out new things. I really don't like limiting myself. If I limit myself, I honestly won't improve.

8. I LOVE COMMENTS!!!! Thanks for favs and watches too, but comments makes me feel like my art is appreciated. Though I don't respond well to negative comments and/or non-constructive criticism. Why criticise if you can't back it up? eg. "That's shit." Why is it shit? TELL ME WHY IT'S SHIT, DAMMIT!!!!

9. I have a bad habit of editing after I submit hahahah. Hope you guys don't notice that XD;;; It's because I only notice the mistakes after I've finished or taken a long rest. I don't fix anything up for sketches though. Only complete CGs. That's why I feel like shoving all my sketches to scraps, but no one looks in scraps. XD;

10. I have a billion ideas for art projects, but don't have the motivation to start and/or finish them. I get sick of things easily, I know. *sigh*

THAT'S IT! Ahh that took me ages to think up.

RAMBLE

FRIGGIN, I'm sick AGAIN!! DDDDDDX My immune system this year has gone an all time CRAP.

Anyway, I have been drawing. Mainly the WIPs for commissions, so I can't exactly show them to you until I finish them. But even so, I'll need permission from my commissioners.

I've updated the FJRB Database and added the 'FJRB fiction & writings' and 'Interviews' sections. Most of the stuff is friends-locked though because it links up to most of the interviews/info at red arena.

We've also tried a bit of roleplaying with our characters hahah I really never thought I'd ever roleplay seeming as how it's not exactly my thing LOL. It definitely proved to be..... interesting. X"D

UPDATE

Woo, gonna be a busy month or so for me. I have 3 more OC Sketch Swaps to do, the GazeCalendar month, 2 competitions I want to enter, 2 requests to complete (they're requests by friends I owe, lol), 4 commissions to start (except they're all at 50% off because 2 are for friends, 2 are for the 50% off deal) and I know that most established designers/artists would think that I'm pricing too cheaply being a graduate with professional training with these sorts of things EXCEPT that I have no experience, so although my prices are cheap, they're ok for someone with little-to-no experience, and not many people are willing to pay much for art anyway.

TALK ABOUT COMMISSIONS

But what are people really paying for?
Our time and talent. That really is the simplest way of putting it. I initially wanted to charge shipping and airmail costs with my commission prices because I don't even have the money to send it. But having the customer pay to receive their commission really puts them off, I know, so I decided to pay for it myself. Shouldn't cost too much, right? ^^: If it's too costly for me, I may have to let them share the costs of shipping/airmail with me because let's face it, I'm a poor-ass.

Although I'm pretty much filled up with commissions (and I most graciously thank those who have commissioned me), I'm leaving it open because a lot of the deadlines are aagggeess away and I'm too afraid to lose anyone who's even just considering about commissioning me XD. Unfortunately, the 50% off Price Cost deal has been filled, but I might have 25% off Price Cost deals in the future as I attain more experience with commissions until I feel that I'm fully qualified to charge with my full prices. So if you're still interested, don't be afraid to tell me! *bribes with cookies* lolol

I'm totally procrastinating, so I'm gonna go and finish off the request that's due soon.

And I realise that this entry isn't really important at all, and by reading all of that, I most likely have wasted your time - I apologise. But I really needed a new journal entry to push down my desperate plea for commissions XDDDD gahaha~

CONTEST IN MIND

And once I get paid for my commissions, I might open up a contest to create the 3 other Sceadwians (+ their sÄvol) for the Sceadu story except I really don't know if I should because I need my commission money to keep me alive, yet knowing that I will get money puts me into the mind set of "YAY I CAN SPEND NOW! 8DDD" which is bad, lol and yeah, noone's gonna enter if I don't include prizes >_>.

And because the other 3 Sceadwian's can't even interact with eachother, it's not going to be like FJRB where all 5 artists are in it together with the story and everything. But it'd be fun to see what Sceadwian characters people come up with, right? And that'll leave them to do whatever they want with their Sceadwian story instead of having to consult me about it first.

Contest idea: Yay or nay?

But you know what, as discussed with *shiroi-nami, it'd be cool to do a contest for FJRB as well, and all 5 artists can be the judges and/or chip in with prizes. And if we're gonna through with this comp, then I don't think I'd want to do the other contest, especially if it's at the same time.

[ THE PURSUIT OF A PERSONAL STYLE ]
I find it so frustrating that I don't have a particular style. I experiment and experiment which seems to be the only thing I do. BUT I WANT A STYLE NOW!! I want my artworks to scream out my name. D:

Therefor, I'll be doing more with messy pencil lines (which are neat to my standards lol) and colouring with solid-brush-with-random-flows&opacities on Photoshop [like this]. I want that to be my style. But that only covers the colouring aspect of my pursued style. As for the lines and drawing itself, I'll aim more for less anime and more realistic [like this]. I told myself that I moved out of the anime phase years ago, but looking at my recent stuff, they're still pretty anime-esque. It's probably because I started watching anime again (though I only watch Gintama these days).

Basically I'm aiming for a more illustrative style that's painted digitally, but has a raw traditional feeling/texture to it.

So why the heck am I blogging this? I've been thinking about this for months, and now's the time to make it official by letting everyone know. Of course, I may change my mind again in the future, but that's just me. My artistic soul is a wanderer, an explorer to some extent. Lalala now I feel like I'm just rambling ahaha

And for the record, are you guys happy with your style(s) now?
I'm generally happy with my current style(s) [or lack thereof], but meh... I just wish I could do better and produce stuff that reach a professional standard. Oh well, practice makes perfect, ne?

Sorry, I'm a slow mofo with the comic again. I've done page 3 and have sketched out page 4 properly so I just need to finish it. Page 4 is ajbdjdkshswoeoe a fat mole to do because I'm trying to get the 'camera angles' right (lol I don't know what else to call them XD) and yyeeaahhhh. Comics are hard. T^T

01. I didn't realise my artistic abilities until yr4 (age 8?) when I was sent to the school's "special art class" bahahaaha 'special' XDD

02. I often lack motivation to complete things (as if you didn't notice that by now, lol) ALTHOUGH, I DO end up completing things.. it just takes me a damn while *nervous laugh*

03. I like to experiment. 8B

04. Relating to the experimenting aspect of my personality: I haven't quite conquered a particular style of my own, well maybe I have, but it's always slightly changing as I progress. My style used to be strictly anime, but now it's... ? Semi-anime? And I don't even watch anime (since highschool) >_>;

05. I heart feedback, and I like (constructive) criticism, but don't expect me to be bothered acting upon it. I know my flaws, but not all are easy to overcome.

06. Far out, I'm running out of things to talk about T_T. I LIKE TO DRAW HOT GUYS? 8D Oh yes, I should bring up the fact that it's almost impossible for me to draw something I DON'T want to draw, but if I get something in return whether it be a good mark, or monies, then I'm good. :B

07. I prefer to listen to music while I work -it helps stimulate my mind and creativity? I can also draw blood and gore listening to something like DBSK (haha), so the music doesn't have to connect in any way with the mood of the artwork that I'm trying to depict. I can't work in silence (Unless I'm writing or reading).

08. I need to pee. Come on Myra, just three more 'things' to talk about!!! >_< OH HERE'S ONE: Most of my artworks don't have much of a concept, lol. Only VERY VERY few actually communicate something with some sort of 'deep'-ish meaning. But that's insanely rare. I like to draw, purely for its aesthetic value *snort then runs*

A GRAPHIC DESIGNER YOU SAY?
Although I'm a graphic designer now (who happens to be unemployed because I cannot get off my fat, lazy ass and find a job..... YET!), my gallery doesn't seem to really showcase any 'designs'. This is because I'm more of an illustrator/artist who incorporates graphic elements into my drawings. My designs I've done during college will probably bore you seeming as illustrations are more interesting right? lol

But as most of you know, singeful is my LJ online free-graphics stash. My original and best works won't be found there because it's merely an experimental playground for me, but because of that, it's still more interesting than my portfolio --which I STILL have to FREAKING REDO T_T

I could open up commissions here can't I? But pfft, yeah as if I'm good enough to -_- And besides, being a freelancer is ...damn hard.

OK we really need to get the LJ comm going so I can stop spamming my DA journal with FJRB stuff XD And although we can contact eachother through msn now, it's difficult to catch eachother online >_< So yeah.. LJ comm name: just "fjrb" ? (considering that we still haven't decided a band name yet lol) but I really am leaning towards just calling the band FJRB now that we're all used to it >_<, but I was thinking of letting this entire project to be called FJRB but give the band an actual name? That way we can use both?

And FJRB comic pages are taking longer than I thought BUT I SWEAR I'LL GET THEM DONE ...or else you can kick me >_<

I have a hard time figuring out whether my original characters go under 'anime' or 'people'. I started drawing anime/manga style back in highschool, but during college I wanted to evolve it to a more realistic style (only because I lost my obsession for anime). But now my style is like some weird cross of both? o_O; But I still put it under anime anyway... XD

Oh and I resubmitted the Shiro study sketches because at the time of when I was uploading it, DA was being weird and not working? A proposition to fellow artist/designer friends...

Because it's undeniably difficult to handle projects/businesses by myself, I've thought of recruiting others who can help me run my online store, or at least contribute some products to it.
^{It's difficult to find the time and funds to create my own products, so I would really like to invite others in and keep my store active lol}

The dealio:

The store will still keep it's name but I will no longer be the only artist/designer on it.

Since I'm the only one who has current access to the website (and because it's mine and I paid for it), I'll be in charge of the website in terms of designing/coding the layouts and updating pages. I am, however, open to layout ideas and for anyone to help me code the website because DAMMIT PHP IS A BITCH. DX
^{Though I like the current layout and really wouldn't want to redesign it until next year or something, though help in re-coding it using PHP would be HIGHLY appreciated! 8D}
I'm also open to any website-related ideas in general ^^

I'll be recruiting two types of people: Artists and Designers.
â Artists: are those who would like me to use their artworks on designs. The artist will provide me with their artwork(s) and will leave it up to me to utilise it on products. The artist will have a say on how I design the products with their artworks, so it'll be a combined effort. I will be in charge of getting the products created and sent to customers. Profit will be shared between the artist and myself.
â Designers: are those who will design and create their own products entirely on their own. They will also be responsible for sending their products to their customers. All profit from their products will go to them.

Recruited artists and designers can make anything they want. A few examples include:
bookmarks
postcards
stationery sets
greeting cards
stickers
notebooks
calendars
organisers
buttons/badges
jewellry
t-shirts
bags
etc.

Website ideas

I'll try and get a blog set up on the index page which all artists and designers will be able to update.
^{I was thinking of using a blogging tool like WordPress or something; one where we can quickly set up accounts with and blog at free will (not like LJ though).}
I'd also like the blog to have RSS feeds so that customers can be updated on when a new product has been created!
