I highly recommend this group to all 3d artists and recommend that you be on the chat. You can learn a lot from the people on there. I know I did (one of the main reasons I progressed so quickly in 3d art over the past few months)

Open Artist is an operating system created specifically for artists who use free and open source software and for linux users. The latest version is based on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. It comes with a plethora of software preinstalled and scripts setup to autoinstall some software that was too large to put on the ISO. The ISO size is 3.7GB and the minimum hard drive space needed to install the operating system is 12GB, just to give you an idea of how much software comes with this distribution.
