Anyhoo, I've been tagged by dear [link] Ten insightful dealies about my work, here-we-go.

1. I'm trying to find a balance between being able to draw faces and being able to draw bodies. I focus too much on one and neglect the other with some drawings. I had even forgotten a lot of the basics of body-drawing for a while.

2. I've made about $200 in portraits over the last two years.

3. I hate drawing portraits for people unless it's spontaneous. Like "Hey, would you draw me? I'll hold really still while we watch Peter Pan. Promise."

4. I do not think that fanart has much meaning, but it is fun to do every once in a while to practice techniques or to be funny. I have drawn one that got onto my favorite author's website, though, so that was cool. [link] Mine is the pencil portrait of the boy with white hair, Alcuin. It's a few years old, so don't rip on me too hard. >>;;

5. I draw mostly my original characters. And I have a lot of them, so I have a lot of material. >___>

6. The first anime I used for reference was Sailor Moon. GAH!

7. I feel like I'm totally unable to find a style for myself. Half the time it seems like my pictures don't even look like they were drawn by the same person.

8. I like to draw with a tablet. It took some getting used to (still am, really)--like I had to stop trying to brush away the "eraser shavings," but it's fun and gives you all sorts of freedom to make mistakes.

9. I don't let other people look at my sketchbook anymore. Only close friends.

10. I HATE IT when people who look at my pictures tell me "I can't even draw stick-people. Hyuck!" . . . They don't all say "hyuck" but they might as well. People need to learn something else to say besides some self-depricating comment that only serve to make me feel guilty about--what? My hard-won ability? Their non-effort? WHAT PURPOSE DOES THAT COMMENT SERVE?? WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT????

However, I'm bound and determined to keep practicing with the tablet (since that only takes, like, four muscles and my brain to do >>, because I actually managed to draw a picture today that wasn't going to end up soaked in blood.

I don't know why I keep making things bloody. It just got a helluva lot easier to do since the tablet came home to me--so all the gore I've been missing out on has a chance now to come shining through.

I think also, though, that my subject matter has a bit to do with it. These guys are used to being soaked in blood. But hopefully the next couple will just be good pictures . . . without anyone getting hurt. ^^ ]]> ~oshisama
