Because I Can!

So I was listening to 2 Sense and some episode after 100 there was a report about a piece of furniture with the color "Nigger-Brown" back in 2007. Here's a news link: Canadian Family Shocked by "Nigger-Brown" Furniture from China This is an honest color but of course it's not kosher. So, I had an idea last night about what other possible colors would one not expect to see. This list will likely piss off a few people, others might laugh their ass off. The latter is obviously the intended reaction I'm gunning for... and for those with a stick up your ass, I comprised this list with the help of a good African-American friend, who found the idea funny as hell!

Less than a week to go...

School is next week. At least going back will make me that much closer to graduating. I'm back a few classes but my financial assistance is in full swing and I have three classes so forward I go. Been posting a lot of stuff, so hope you all are enjoying that. Haven't been able to write nearly as much as I wanted to. Good thing I have a buffer; still, need to rebuild it. Received my latest commission the other day. You can catch it below in the big EPIC WIN thumb. Speaking of thumbs, if you go through the stories, I added a lot of updated thumbs to those who did not have them. Figured this would give a little more depth to the stories. Also, a new deviant to check out: *divemistress She has not posted much right now but should have more photos and poems perhaps. Almost Time

School starts at the end of the month; presidential voting in November. Want to buy more things from dA friends but need to start tightening my belt. Will not have nearly as much time for writing stories. Wasn't able to ride my bike nearly as often or as far as I'd like. Podcast ideas are still pending. This summer was very productive yet it went by too quickly. I can only hope the projects I started will find root and grow. Back to the grindstone soon enough.

Time to Play Catchup
Well, I've posted several things lately; will post more later. Check them out when you get a chance. Two new commissions are done and you can check them out below. Big thanks to both *MoogleGurl and *meru for all you efforts. *meru is in need of some money still so go check her out and order some prints or better yet, commission her! Wedding for my friends Johnny-B and Kat worked out beautifully on Monday; my new suit I bought caught a lot of compliments, too. Fund some new toys to save up for in their audio setup for the wedding, which including some of my podcasting audio equipment (borrowed). Bachelor party on Saturday was awesome fun... no comment on the details! Made a poem for them I will recite before presenting them a printed framed copy for them. No, the poem will not be posted to dA. Radio Osyris betas are going well. Should be able to get off the ground before school starts. We'll see how that goes. Got my financial assistance reinstated! Life is overall good.

So, when was the last time I posted so many deviations in a 24hr period? ...that were not part of a class project. A very long time: new Shattered Reality Redux, poem, Will-o'-the-Wisp, and a redux of Nemesis as Nyx. Adding Rogue Wave Rising and the first Will-o'-the-Wisp chapter this month has made July very busy. We will see at least one more Will-o'-the-Wisp chapter this month, if not two, and I have at least one more thing in the work so expect a lot this month. My commission for Miw & Oni from *MoogleGurl is going well, though apparently she got hit with something dumb (in my opinion) so hopefully she'll be back within two week. My commission for Marcus is looking great, too. Life is overall good. Got to ride around Rainier Wednesday and visited two Wienerschnitzels.

A "New" Original Story!
Will-o'-the-Wisp 01 Here she is, a "fresh" original story, Will-o'-the-Wisp. For anyone paying attention, you'll easily recognize this work as that of the "Plight of the Faerie" series given (true) form. That's right, I've finally gotten this story off the ground. Inspired firstly by the fifth part in the series, which was the first since I left Bellevue and introduced dialogue and a new character, I was truly reinvigorated once I saw the sketch of what would become the commission of this story's three primary characters by my very good dAfrind *MoonlightAlchemist. You all even get a sneak preview of the newest character's name, as I did not name her in the fifth installment. For those of you who read the summaries, this first chapters are comprised of two parts each, with the third starting brand new content! I'll be posting the next two chapter a week a part and then following chapters as they are ready. I'm already working on chapter four, which should get very interesting.

Well, I got Comish 3-Osyris in the mail the other day! Just need to wait for my other commission to come and I'll get to work on getting frames and posting them. In other news, I will be posting the next Rogue Wave Rising sometime nest week. I should have Shattered Reality Redux done by the end of the month. *MoogleGurl seems to be struggling with her commission of mine with Miw and Oni. I failed to give her some proper inspiration since she's having issues with Miw's anthro body. If anyone has some inspiration, please give it to her! Also need to start on a poem for my friend's wedding. That should be a real challenge. Well, sad news is I redid my math and figured out I did get that 0.0 is class. Oh well... sux.

Still need to get that Sakura-Con "Issues to be Resolved" paper going. Looks like there's a lot of changes happening to SAS so best get on that. Gave some ideas to improve how the Minor/Child badges work. We'll see how that goes. I am officially registered for SAS for 2009 and my badge name is Marcus T. I'll likely use the commission I get from ~Meam-chan, which is just beginning to be sketched! As if getting myself ready for this personal podcast wa... ]]>

What's In A Name?
Well, I'm stumped. Here I am trying to figure out how to make a podcast and I have no clue what to call the damn thing. Guess that's the lest of my worries but it needs to be addressed. So what are your thoughts? The only thing that come to mind is "Banter", which I think is apt, but I want to hear your suggestions. If I get enough good ideas, I'll likely put them in a poll and then make a chose based on which is most favored after talking with my friends here in the South Sound. I should have one or two beta podcasts made this week, though those will only be handed out to local friends who will test them. Once that is done, I'll start on the real thing; though don't be surprised if they end up in the feed at some point. Still working on compiling a list of topics. Oh yeah, might have asked this before but how long do you think would be a good length?

Well, I fear I have failed another class this quarter. I got a 1.4 (69.31...%) in the class, but don't think that's enough to allow me to gain the credits from that class. Still, the 1.4 should still be posted, yes? I did do work. Well, I've contacted a classmate to see what I'm not understanding and compare notes. If true, then this make two quarters in a row that I have not gained the credits from. Here's the standings:

Let the Joy-gasm Begin Again!
Well, here's the latest Journal CSS Skin from the great =33xiT! This one is just killer and the code is a lot better. I highly suggest using his free Journal Generator to make your entries, as it is far easier than what I did; which was to take the raw code and muck about with it. While the downloadable code is easier to read in its current format, you have to eliminate all the extra spacing for it to work in the Journal. This obviously take some time to do so again I suggest going the easy route. I muck about with it 'cause I like to mod the code to suit my needs. This skin is worth the extra trouble of using the generator so please go do so! You won't be disappointed!

So, as you'll see below, I have a new commission that was recently completed by the one and only *Kamikaze777! You can view the full image by clicking the picture below, which will lead you to the deviation on his commission page, ~kami-komish. For those wishing for a commission from him, I think his spots are already filled for the moment. However, once he get done with the current selection and finishes some school and personal stuff, they will be open again! I suggest watching this secondary sight if you're a fan of his work to keep up-to-date on what he's up to. For those of you in the know (and those who are not), this is Erwin Rommel Morgenstern, a character I created by chance when writing the bio-story for Hybrid History for his three Hybrid characters. I could not ask for more from him and this deviation is just one example of why his art is some of the best on this site; period.

You can catch a little dumb devious spiel I did with TIW for my latest deviation. Srsly. Anyway, I want your input about what type of topics and subjects you want to hear on my podcast. While I am compiling a broad list from which I'll choose specific things, I know my own take will not be enough. So I want to hear what topics/subjects you would like me to look at from time to time. The idea is that I'll have a pool to start from for a given show; then I'll find something new or interesting within the "random" selections and connect them together is as many segways as possible. In this way, reoccurring themes can take root while keeping the topics of discussion fresh and varied. I'll post the list once I finish my own and collect your suggestions.                 Podcasting with Osyris

Hey everybody! So I've gotten a lot on interest from both the internetz and personal friends here in Pac-west. So, the first question: what the fuck is a "podcast" and "podcasting"? Well, the easiest answer can be found on Wikipedia: Podcast. Another answer place can be found at Apple: Podcasting. If you want an indept detail explanation, there is a PDF you can find that will give you all the info from Educause: 7 Things You Should Know About Podcasting. So, here's the =osyris version: Podcasting is internet-based (pre)recorded "talk radio" (some with music content perhaps) produced both by independent/amateur individuals/groups and professionals that focus on specific (mainstream and minority/left field) topics and general conversation that are often listener driven and vary between mature and family friendly content, produced/available for download with regular/irregular frequency. These are available and distributed through show and hosting sites, and aggregateers. In simpler words, it's underground radio without the illegal status or the radio part; and the quality is generally respectable.

So, if you still have questions after reading the links provided above and my own explanation, just tell me and I'll try to make it understandable for you. The one things people don't get is that you do not need iTunes or an iPod to listen. While iTunes is the easiest way to collect and find podcasts, there are plenty of other places to find them and get updated with the latest feed (they usually use RSS feeds); these include Digg, Podcast Alley, podcast.com, Podcast Pickle, Mevio, and many others. Any music player with an RSS feed reader can pick these us, including Windows Media Player, Real Player, WinAMP, etc. While most feeds provide a link to help your player of choice receive the signal, all of these had manual inputs to allow for RSS addresses. Mind you, not all of these are the same per hosting site/aggregater and sometimes it is best to gain the feed from the podshow's web-page. Very few don't have RSS feeds (like 2 the Ranting Griffin). (Once I get my stuff set up, I'll keep you all in the know about how to find me and get the feed.)

So, now that we've discussed this part, let's move on to my idea. I am a writer, poet, dA beta tester, SAS staffer, UW-T student, skeptic, debater, ranter, bike rider, anime watcher, history buff, etc. It is too much to do podshows for each; so I'm thinking of doing something that is very much like a cross between the Daily Source Code and No Agenda, both done (in part) by Adam Curry, the podfather. In effect, what I am thinking of is a general conversation piece that have a rough structure with no/little script where topics of discussion revolve around listener feedback and my own musings; from dA happening and Sakura-Con updates to political/religious/philosophical talks and social commentary to bike riding and my own writing. Whatever is of timely topic. I would likely produced one about once a week or so, maybe more/less. Length has been a debate in the podisphere (the world of podcasting) and the answer is very subjective and personal. For myself, the best time seems to be about 74min to fit with those who burn to CD. I want it longer enough to be entertaining and informative without going on forever. I would hope that those who take and listen and like it will give feedback so the experience would be more driver by you, the listeners.

So, that's the general idea so far. Got the equipment set up, though I might need to get the latest "Podcasting for Dummies" by Tee Morris, al. et. Also want to have guess co-hosts now and again, and since I have the equipment, just need to more out of my room and we could record; but first thing's first; now that you know a little more, vote in my poll... though I might have to restart that poll now that people are more aware of that it is; what do you think? Still interested? Got suggestions? Tell me! I want to know. Hell, I'll likely display dA art in the show art, that might be cool. I need your opinion so here's your chance to make things better. So speak up! Now enjoy some TIW! Oh yeah, as you might have noticed, dAv.6 is likely coming out soon since they're starting to change over the Journal in beta mode. Needless to say, that's why my past Journal (when I updated it) looks so messed up. This is why, sadly, I'll have to drop the CSS until better ones are created and adapted for the new system... Well, it's been a while since I wrote. School is in its final stages of finals for the Spring quarter so time is short; but I have been up to much and so I'll give you a rundown of what =osyris is up to. Firstly, some of you might be wondering what Limbo was referring to. Moving On & Projects & Memorial Day; or a more detailed account: Memorial Day 2008 explain the whole sad story. The short is my drain plug unscrewed itself on I-5 on Memorial Day. When I can back to check on my bike after I dropped it off at the dealership to be looked at in the morning, it was gone. Thankfully the dealership had put it int heir shop after I left the first time but I did not know this at the time. So this poem was written to try and help me deal with the possible loss. Thankfully, all the worrying was for not. Still, if you read the story, I was very very lucky.

Next up, as you read from the Blogspot post, I am in cahoots with *Kamikaze777 with a short comic. I'll be sure to link it here once we get it done. (Read the blog to learn more.) Kami is also working on a commission for me, too, for my character Erwin R. Morgenstern. *MoogleGurl is also doing a commission for me of Mew and Oni! Can't wait to see them! Other dA related things: as I announced on fanfiction.net, Rogue Wave Rising will only be 4 episodes/20 chapters long. This will encompass the first story arc. The reason is simple: I really really need to start focusing on my own original works, like Tales of Miw, Plight of a Faerie, and others. Part 2.2 will be posted sometime soon. Posted the third chapter of the redux of Shattered Reality. That is going well. Banter is another recent random poem. As if to contradict myself, I was inspired by Flores Latinas by ~joriavlis. So I am writing a short story based on this wonderful work. Not sure when that will be posted but I do have permission to write it so I am trying to do it justice.

So, long-term projects of a non-literate nature: I still plan on going down to California to visit *Agent-Elrond sometime on my bike with video gear on hand. Still need to improve my riding skills, get luggage saddle bags, video equipment, and crash guards (among other items) so I am unsure when I'll get down there. The idea is to do it during rafting season so it might have to be pushed back a year. During that time, myself and my friend Jon are planning a Canada to Mexico West Coast ride in a years time. That will be crazy and require a lot more skill. Will likely bring video equipment on that one, too. More on that later. The other project is about set up. I got a couple good mics, a preamp, stands, cables, and a good set of headphones and hooked it all up to my Mac. I'll likely devote a while Journal/blog post to give details as to the specifics of the setup. The point of it all is to record my poetry to send to other podcasters and perhaps make my own podcast. Again, I'll explain my ideas more when I devote more time to the idea.

I've begun cleaning my room, too. I have a long road to go but its already looking much better. Jason Pollard has been selected as the new manager of the Sakura-Con Attendees Services. While one of two people have objected to it, I think the change will be great. He has already chosen his second in command and has most of his core staff already picked out. A possible new position will be a Responder/Rover type Coordinator-level spot that will go where they might be needed. Still needs to be approved but if so, I will be one and I think it will help fill many of the spontaneous gaps that happen during the con. It will be interesting to see how the 2009 con goes. I will also be writing a report up on failures, weaknesses, strong points, successes, and recommendations that hopefully will help improve the SAS. Things are looking up! So that's about it. New Start
To all my friends, watchers, and people who have stumble upon my Journal(s) yesterday/today, I must ask your apologies for pulling you into my own personal drama. It was childish of me and for that, I must as you to give me but another chance to make it up to you. How? I don't know. My mind has taken the rest of the day off to recover.



So, what's new?



Well, I'm finally working on the next Teen Titans Gurlz script. I know ~sayoko will kill me over how long I've taken but I should be done by tonight and I should have the other she game me done by tomorrow. The King is Dead!
For those of you who don't know, the Great Luciano Pavarotti has died at age 71 early this morning. The world weeps for the loss of such a masterful voice. If you knew anything about opera, true opera, you knew Pavarotti. He was a man among men for his humor and his gift to the preforming arts.

Continuing On...I can't say that I have been to productive. But as my friend Jon would say, that's not always a bad thing. I've found the joy that is Guitar Hero II. I have also made a name change to the third chapter of my PPEN fan-fic. Still searching for a series name, if anyone cares. I'll post all the latest once I get the title.
