I dream of being a full time writer

Lately work and stress over finances has really been intruding on my once serene mind, causing chaos all around me.My daughter looks at me strangely, my wife wants to kill me and as life tries to pull me in many directions at once and all i want is to write the days away.
Just won the contract to run my own massage clinic within the biggest health retreat to be built in Australia. It is tucked away in a little place called Rolystone which is nestled among beautiful hills and a river covered with lillies.I have eight months to set it up, but then it will run itself easily and not only free up more time for me but give me that financial stability that has until recently been so elusive.
I have been writing heaps and am just re editing at the moment so there will be more Burden filtering through than the last few months.
How long should it take to write a book?
Dean Koontz usually writes four a year.
Australian writer - Tim Winton writes one every five years.
So far i have taken seven months but that is only part time.
What about you, how long does it generally take for you to finish?
By finish i mean polished enough to post on Da or make available for the masses.

Not very good at this journal thing.

I have been meaning to update my journal for some time now, suddenly it's been four months. Ooops. Sorry it has been a long time between posts. I have been writing alot on my novel - The Burden, but not posting it because my problem lies in editing not writing. I have been looking for a course to do in the basics of writing to get my grammatical skills up to scratch, so far i have had no luck.Do you writers out there have an education in your craft or did you do what i have done and just plunged ahead? If anyone has any suggestions on ways i can tackle the editing fiend, i would love to hear them. Maybe it just comes with time and patience.
It's been a constant battle to stop my daughter from chewing on power cords, she has just started crawling and has the ability to find the most dangerous thing in the room.

Hi everyone, recently i asked myself why i haven"t been writing regularly and of course the exuses were as long as my arm. My new years resolution was to make writing a priority in my life and so a major change was needed. I have cut back on my buisness as a massage therapist and made mondays a writing day. Yesterday was my first day and the experience was exhilarating, not only did i write for eight hours i also re wrote my previous installment The Burdan pt two. What"s the fuss you may be thinking but for me to actually make time for writing with the demands of my buisness and my beautiful four month old daughter Lily it is a victory. Now monday has gone from the least favorite day of the week to the most favorite. Yay no mondayitus for me. I must give thanks to my wife Sarah whose has organized for her mother to look after Lily each monday and who gives me constant support. Sarah is also on DA so check out her stuff you wont be sorry: [link]

I also want to thank Denim [link] for her feedback it was invaluable. If you haven"t read her stories yet you are missing out.

Later this week the revised version of pt two of The Burden will be posted and so will the next installment.
