A lot's been going on since my last journal update (not that I'm really expecting people to keep up with this).

I'm getting married at the end of the summer, my fiancee is joining the Air Force, and we're more than likely to be moving out of state by the end of this year, hopefully living abroad by the end of next year. Exciting stuff.

This past year has been nothing short of nerve-racking, but I think I've rediscovered a sense of stability and sanity once again in my life.

I've continued my art studies at a new school (I've posted some homework assignments, most of which are Scraps haha), and have been doing well with my part-time job.

School has forced me to improve with traditional media, but as far as digital art goes, I've been quite negligent for these past few months... Going through old folders, I've rediscovered lots of old WIPs...

But with a sudden drive for experimentation, I'm hoping to get lots of new deviations up in the near future.

Kenneth Raymundo Cabrieto
(December 20, 1982 - March 19, 2008)

Where do I begin...

These past few months have been nothing short of excruciating.

A close friend of mine passed away in March, and even after a couple of months of grieving, words still can't seem to express all of my emotions. I miss and love him so much.

He actually had a deviantART account. You can view it here:

He was very fond of Photoshop, writing, reading, video games, computers, comic books, cartoons, and anime. He gave me my first Wacom tablet and always encouraged me to dabble with Photoshop more often, and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have progressed as much as I did with digital art over these past few months. He always pushed me to do my best with all of my artwork.

He was very creative, and enthusiastic, and intelligent, and sweet, and just an all-around great person. He will be missed by many.

When it comes to computer maintenance, I'm pretty much just totally clueless. My RAM's been running really low for the past few weeks, and it made working in Photoshop incredibly irritating / borderline impossible... sometimes it would take literally 10 seconds to make ONE brush stroke lol... or it would take 15 minutes just to save one file... Yes... lame. Still can't believe I've been working like that for DAYS... too patient for my own good sometimes.

My boyfriend and I finally took my laptop to CompUSA today to get more memory installed. So yay, now things are running MUCH more smoothly.

It hasn't been too long ago since I started experimenting with my drawings on the computer. It's a lot of fun to play around with it. So much to learn. Before that, I've been sort of a tech-phobe. These darn computers have so much power... it's kind of intimidating lol.

But Photoshop is so wonderfully forgiving when it comes to artistic experimentation. Almost makes me wish my old graphite pencils had "Undo" buttons on them lol.
