My grandfather passed away on the 9th this month from heart failure and leukemia. I was very close to him, both socially and physically; he only lived 7 houses down the street. He had been having problems with his bone marrow for a while, but it was never enough to be called leukemia. My mom had been told by the doctor a couple months ago that if he made it a year he would be lucky. She kept this to herself and never told anyone. He endured multiple blood transfusions and chemotherapy treatments. My nana met him when she was sixteen in high school and has been with him ever since. They had a storybook life, the perfect marriage, kids, and grandkids. He was sixty seven when he passed away, being married to my grandmother for almost fifty years. He had been in the marines, and the local police force. The most amazing thing about his passing away (not that it was amazing) was his wake and funeral. So many people knew him and came to see him that the line was out of the funeral home and out onto the sidewalk, the wait time averaging two and a half hours. There were so many flowers that people had sent in that the room was filled. I had to endure seven full hours in the room with his body. Many tears were shed, but we all got through it. During the procession to the graveyard, the people who were stopped at intersections in order to let the funeral cars go by had to wait 45 minutes to get through. There were so many cars, over fifty of them. The marines were there, and also the local police force came to honor him. He had wanted bagpipes, so we gave him that too. He had eleven grandchildren, the oldest being me, and the youngest just having been born a couple months before. He was my hero, always teaching me right from wrong, an telling me his many stories from his police years or his high school experiences. When I was little I could not say Grampy so his name became Bampy. Once I started calling him Bampy, all my younger cousins adopted the name as well, and it became permanent. If any one of you reading this met him, I am positive you would have liked him. He was the wisest man I ever met, and will stay that way, even if another Einstein comes strolling along. The drawing of him in my journal is one I drew of him and gave to him the Christmas before he died. He loved it, and it is was at his funeral. Now it hangs up on my nana's wall, as a constant reminder of the great man she married. She will never love another man, he was the one and only one for her. As I type this, I cry, and I am sure many more tears will be shed. People say time heals all wounds, but not with a man as great as this; my grandfather.

I went to a flute fair this weekend! When I went I joined the GBFA, or, Greater Boston Flute association. It was really fun. I got to tryy all the flutes they had for sale and including a bass flute and contra flute. I couldn't make much of them though. I tried everything from piccolos to wooden flutes, and even a $33000 flute! For those of you that know flutes, I saw an openen holed alto flute. It was handmade by this lady I met, who also made contras. She was from norway.

So this Christmas I got the surprise of my life. My family and my mom's relatives all came down to Disney world. We have a motorhome so we stayed at Fort Wilderness campground, and my relitives stayed there too. If they did not want to rent a trailer, they stayed in one of the Disney World Hotels. My nana has a HUGE class A motorhome, so most of the stuff was held outside her camper. She had a 7 foot lighted and decorrated christmas tree outside in a big tent with mesh sides. That was where -santa- would leave presents.

On Christmas day all of my cousins and I went to the tree. I found my stocking to be overstuffed. Inside I found a Wacom Graphire tablet and a note. (A lot of candy too, but I ate it ^^) The note said that at home on my fireplace was sitting a 17 inch flat screen computer with 1 gig memory. I screamed.
-Santa- told me it was also my birthday present because it cost her, um mean him a bundle.

Now all I need is a REALLY GOOD art program that costs anywhere under 200 dollars. Any suggestions?
